You try your best to just stay there and relax, but after a hour you start noticing little streamers of your magic, which reminds you of your problem with hiding it. Should probably deal with that as soon as possible. "Morgan, do you mind helping me outside for a while?" You move your eyes over to the couple, you don't really want to have this conversation near them despite Morgan's claims that it will go unheard.
She follows your eyes and sighs, but nods understandingly. "Of course."
The three of you make your way outside and move to sit by a log table a little ways from the building proper. At least it isn't a fallen tree this time. You rectify that thought when you take a better look at the bench. Fallen. Tree. For a moment you contemplate asking Morgan if there was some sort of curse that made you run into fallen trees everywhere you go, but you dismiss it. Even Magic can't be that silly, right? When you were all seated, though Una had chosen the table as her seat, you look to Morgan. "Can you show me the best way to make a method of hiding my magic?"
She blinks for a moment, opening her mouth, pausing then closing it. She is silent for a solid minute as she thinks about her answer. "No? I don't think I can." She looks a little embarrassed. "When it comes to hiding magic, I have no idea how to teach someone else how to do it. The best description of how I do it for mine would be 'Calm the pond then spread it flat.' Which... doesn't make much sense when you think about water or magic."
You sit back and think for a minute, absentmindedly leaning back in your seat. "Do you mind if you could just be here to tell me how well I'm hiding my magic then? I'm going to try something."
She nods but opens her mouth. "That's fine, just if I tell you to stop-- stop. I don't want you flaring magic around wildly, even if I doubt there is much around here to notice, you never know."
You nod back and turn your focus to your magic, quietly humming away at the back of your mind. It was no calmer than it was before, in fact, it seemed to be stronger that it had been before. Yeah, I really need to get this under control now. You continue with the idea you'd had before, trying to conceal your magic in the ambient heat that was everywhere.

The act of trying to not hide but merge your magic with the natural world in such a way was intensely difficult. You could feel it working, but then your control would slip and you'd need to compress your magic again to keep it from leaking. You let out a deep sigh as you restart the process for merging your magic again.
(Cerys: 6 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 16)
Ok, not like that then. Morgan looks at your sharply as she feels the tiniest of magic slip from your grip.
(Cerys: 23 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 33)
Getting there. This time you manage to keep control over it without losing any.
(Cerys: 73 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 83)
Maybe I need to think about this differently? This was the hardest thing you'd ever attempted, everything else had come fairly easily, but this was frustrating you at every turn, even though you could tell you were making progress. It still felt practically glacial compared to your earlier experiments pace. You decide to take a break and eat dinner before trying again, maybe some food in your belly would help you focus.
Your meal was small, you ordered some bread and ketchup, then pulled out the deer meat you had, a quick re-heat later and you were all enjoying a first class meal. Still, when you had reheated the meat, it had gotten you thinking about how you were trying to hide your magic. At the moment you were trying to push your magic underneath the... layer? of heat in the world. Seeing as that was constantly frustrating you, perhaps a different approach was needed.
Full belly and ideas refreshed, you made your way back to your seats outside, Una prodding Morgan about what the different places she's travel to are like in the background.
(Cerys: 28 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 38)
Wait, not like that, maybe like this?
(Cerys: 8 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 18)
Nope-- not like that at all.
(Cerys: 40 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 50)
What if I try this. Your magic spreads out evenly, Morgan doesn't make a twitch. Ok, next, hiding.
(Cerys: 18 + 5 Control + 5 ??? = 28)
Mmm, no, what if I just... let it go?
(Cerys: 87 + 5 Control + 10 ??? = 102!)
You decide to take a risk this time, you spread your magic out evenly then you just let it go
For a heart stopping moment, you can feel your magic roaring and surging, raging with all the force you've ever felt. Then, something clicks into place and for the first time, it's calm. Not by any effort from you, or you beating it into submission, it just sits there waiting. When you take a breath, you feel it surge, a silent shifting of something. You let out a breath and you feel it calm, the world moving with you.
When you open your eyes when had I closed them you see Morgan looking at you strangely, her eyes looking more through you than at you.
"I-- what?" She shakes her head and focuses back on you. "I guess that means that you've done it then? I can't feel your magic any more." It looks like she has something else she wants to say, but you see her looking around at nothing and she clamps her mouth shut. You nod, feeling more right than you had since before you got your magic. I guess suppressing it like that was a really bad idea. I never noticed how... confined it felt.
"Yes, I stopped suppressing it and merged? No that's not the right word. I did something but it's hidden now." Morgan makes a tight face as she looks at you, eyes still darting around but she doesn't say anything, instead she just nods at the sky where the sun is getting low. "I'm not going to sleep tonight, to make sure nothing goes wrong. Sort out anything you want to do before we leave now, you've got eight hours or so, the nights are fast this far north."
