Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

*thinks*
beligerence or intelligence? Both have their flaws, and I'm actually thinking we might want to pop the moron instead-
Way I understand it, Earth can't tank the Demons for long, and will need the Unified Light to save their butts if they do end up drawing aggro.
Sooo someone who's going to all-in right off the bat is actually someone that's more important to remove then the guy who'd rather play things cautiously.

You thought Cerys was squishy? Boy, do I have a surprise for you!

But seriously, you will be Nia for a bit. Have fun~

[X] Shoot the stupid one.

Lets take out the one that is currently charging. We can worry about the other one once we aren't in imminent danger.

Well... alright.

[X] Shoot the smart one with Burning Rain, then put a lotta holes into the dumb one

No idea if the rain will be enough to take one of those guys out, but it feels like a very Nia thing to do. The only reason I am not voting to jump into the mass below is because none of you would go for it. She totally would, considering she tried to attack Cerys again after barely surviving the first time.

Sounds good to me!

Oh boy, time for my favorite metagame spectator sport: shadowrunning.
[X] Take out the smart one.

Sooo According to Naron Mia's kind of reckless, so let's see what that dumbo idiot thinks he'll be able to do with free turn before we fill him with lead!

Why would he get a free turn? The Spell takes one action, the other three are used to turn him into a swiss cheese. With up to six Skill-negations for any ranged attacks coming in.

-[X] Let's bait them some more. See if they can figure out they need to take you out. Be prepared to counter or dodge in case of surprises.

Well Nia is exactly what I expected from Sabina's teammate. So here are my thoughts on this interlude, though this is all speculation:
Firebase Amazon, Counter Force HQ, France
So apparently the Counter Force is in France, which is kind of surprising. I can't recall where the second base that we attacked was since Cerys never asked but I think it was said somewhere that it was in Europe. It was still the middle of Clocktower territory last we saw, so either the Counter Force has been widely successful or they have a truce with the Clocktower.

More Demons, an undead monstrosity of some kind, maybe we'll even get back to fighting the wizards.
So apparently the Counter Force, or at least Nia's unit within the Counter Force, is no longer fighting the Clocktower. Which is a good thing since the Counter Force is not, in fact, the enemy in this quest. We want to make peace with them and work with them to stop the real demon invasion. I don't want to fight them anymore, though we might not have a choice if they decide to attack us. It would also be good to have Sabina meet her teammate.

The commander doesn't bother hiding his exasperation as you start humming to yourself, which really just tells you that he'll probably die soon too. Either that or he'll survive, really you were being a little presumptuous, it's been like what, eight days since they started attacking?
Nia is just like Sabina! Such disregard for the possible death of her commander makes her seem similar to how Sabina was during the attack on the first Counterforce base. She is very aggressive but unlike Sabina she does not appear to have somebody like us to stop her from doing something too reckless and getting injured or killed. She may have something similar to Sabina's mental changes, just with a gun instead of a sword.

Every time I do she seems to appear out of nowhere to remind me.

You can't resist the urge to glance around and make sure she isn't here, but you also know she's perfectly capable of standing well outside of the base and watching you from her personal treefort.
At first I thought that this was about us, but the comment about the treefort makes me think that there is instead another magical girl who is stronger than Nia at the base.

I don't really have an idea about this fight with the Not!Demons, but Naron's vote seems good. Also, as an aside about the Not!Demons, Cerys should realize that they are not actually demons from hell since she has both fought a real one and gotten a vision about them.

Also, Rukia, now that it has come up in thread the last few chapters could you have Cerys start asking questions about the world situation or at least show some thought about the world situation and her own lack of knowledge. Maybe give us a space to write in questions so that we don't make more blind decisions, or have Cerys look on the internet (we know the island has it) for information about the world? I don't want another case of "too late you're going on a mission/not the right time/should have done it earlier, ask questions later" immediately after Gaia helps us get set up. I also want to know what "helping get set up" actually entails because that is incredibly vague. I don't want to make a decision on what to do or where to go without understanding what has been going on. Cerys has made enough dumb decisions based on lack of information. Besides, she doesn't really trust Gaia or Karen so she should want to go and get information herself from multiple sources so she doesn't make more mistakes and endanger the group again. Maybe she could talk to the Counterforce, I think we still have Annabelle's number unless Cerys conveniently forgot about that as well, for their perspective if they are not actively hostile or to a captured member if we cannot talk to Annabelle.

I wouldn't be against doing a few Q&A's

Ok then, here are some questions:

1. What happened between the Clocktower and Counter Force to start this war?

2. What happened in WW2 to form the Clocktower?

3. Why/when was the Counter Force formed?

4. How did the Clocktower cut the Counter Force's feet out in China? (My guess is that the CF tried to get magic info from the chinese magic organization, and the CT went "No!" and killed them)

5. What has happened in the war so far/who was winning?

6. Is the Light sending Not!Demons all around the world or is there a single epicenter that they are focusing on?

7. What are relations like between the Clocktower and Counter Force right now with the Light attacking both of them?

8. Does anyone know that the Light is behind the Not!Demons? I don't think it is common knowledge, so maybe just the higher-ups in both organizations?

9. At the very beginning of the quest there was stuff going on between Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. What was that? I'm honestly curious.

10. Could we get Cuifen's Character Sheet? We know she is very strong, evidenced in both the Una incident and throwing boulders around when training with Daiyu, so I would like to know more about her.

11. Could we get more on Daiyu and Cuifen's backstory? We have known them for awhile and still know very little about them.

12. What was Gaia's original plan for us and how/why did it change?

13. Do we get a choice in where to set up our organization or is Gaia picking it herself?

14. How is Gaia going to help get Cerys set up? What information, territory, personnel, equipment, money and other resources will we get and do we get a say in any of it?

15. What is the Counter Force's opinion of us? Can we still work with them like we are willing to work with Karen?

16. What is the Clocktower's opinion of us?

17. What are regular people's opinion of us?

18. What are the magical girl's opinion of us?

19. Who was it that was annoying us and we decided not to murderize in "Its not a date"?

20. What are we known for and what is publicly known about what we have done and why?

21. Could Cerys get regular information updates once we get set up without having the thread vote to check up on them and just have her do that automatically once we have them? Like, we ask for information updates and Cerys checks them as part of her routine and voters don't need to make her do it every time we want to know something.

22. I think this is a spoiler, but I'll ask it anyway. At what level does Infinity Edge gain Unstoppable?

Less serious questions:
23. How can we get Cerys to accept Sabina's affections and start a harem?

24. What are Daiyu's, Sabina's, and Cuifen's favorite foods in case we want to reward/spoil them?

25. What sort of activities does each member of our group enjoy?

26. What sort of date would Daiyu enjoy the most? Sabina?

27. If, after we get all set up by Gaia, we fly down to a restaurant with the group, how terrified would our waitress be of us?

I do have other questions, but this is enough for now and some of them might be answered or change based on these questions.

I can answer at least a few of those.

13. Do we get a choice in where to set up our organization or is Gaia picking it herself?
You get a choice about which country to base yourself in.

22. I think this is a spoiler, but I'll ask it anyway. At what level does Infinity Edge gain Unstoppable?
It will not.

23. How can we get Cerys to accept Sabina's affections and start a harem?
She will not.

I realize that, but that is like saying "Germany invaded Poland to start WW2" which is true but does not highlight the underlying causes for doing that. It tells me the what but not the why. Why did the Counter Force try to kill Una? Where does the animosity between the CF and CT begin? Was it just because of what happened in China? Difference in their ideologies? We know that the CF does not approve of Karen's ideas and policies from Annabelle and were fearful that the CT had discovered a way to make magical girls so is that why? How deep does their divide run. People don't just randomly shoot missiles at children for no reason.
