Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

I just got an idea about how to redirect an attack against us: willing the incoming attack to Begin a new direction while Ending the attack's current direction.

Basically like this vector: (X,0) -> (X-X,0+Y)=(0,Y)

I will write that down; it might be interesting... although probably somewhere close to the conceptual stuff and not achievable for a while.

We're already doing it with Halt though.

I would guess that this is a little different... not to mention that we got Halt from a crit.
It just stops every movement.

Actually telling a fast-traveling attack coming our way to turn around? Especially when it is something easily disruptible like energy?
That should be quite a bit harder than just telling something to stop.

This would be altering the universe and someone else's magic in the same spell.

I'd guess... Master/Inhuman Skill and a roll to have at least x2 their MM.

I'm not sure which one exactly you're asking over?
This one.
where do the souls of sinners end up? and by sinners i mean the real assholes, murderers, rapists and what not.

It depends on how you're portraying Gaia.

In the main quest all Human souls belong to Gaia by default, meaning when they die they get recycled through one or more of her soul-based projects. If a 'sinner' really pissed her off in one way or another, such as completely derailing one of her plans by killing someone she wanted alive, she's more than willing to be vindictive and leave their soul aware enough to torture. (Likely where the human concept of hell came from, because the after effects of those torture sessions would be more than capable of leaving echos when that soul is reused.) While the opposite might also be possible for Humans she really likes.

By the way, a little something I wanted to mention about intercepting.

Just standing in the way is not.

To intercept means to actually try counterattacking, so one's own damage is subtracted from the damage coming in and whoever wins the conflict gets to deal what is left of their damage.
Those Scrants were not intercepting, they just stood in front of the target and thus became the target.

This is accurate.

SUB ZERO
"I'm going after the other base now, I don't want to leave it alone for too long, he might have had a dead-man's switch of some kind." He nods as you turn to look at the surviving Enforcer. "You coming with me then?" She nods shakily, but then more solidly. "Right, stay behind me, I'm a lot tougher than you are." You set out at a jog, the woman guiding you towards the right field before you start homing on the lone scout. You slow to a walk as you reach the signature and despite knowing they are here, you can't find them until they stand up from the grass.

He brushes some grass from his hair as he look at the two of you, taking in the absence of the other Enforcer. He sucks in a quick breath but nods to you. "You are Ignition Knight then?" You blink at him using your Transformation name, but you still nod. "Alright, I've found the underground facility's entrance, but I haven't gone into it. It's hidden with a little magic, so you need to approach it like this." You can feel the large empty space underneath you, practically crawling with heat signatures as he leads you towards a tree through a specific set of steps, at one point doing a slight hop backwards.

Still, the door reveals itself to you, a large stone door coated with Strength runes that you recognise from Home Base. He walks up to the door and taps on it, showing it's harmless, and twists his magic into a crack you never noticed. Suddenly there is a jarring creak, and the door falls off of it's hinges, straight towards you. You step forwards and smack it aside, the door not even scratched by your strike even as it's thrown away. The Scout looks a little sheepish, but steps back from the door and waves for you. "This is as far as I go, I'm not build for combat, but I'll wait nearby if you need medical assistance."

You give him a nod as you pass him. "Good job, thanks for the help." You take a fortifying breath, sharing a look with your partner, and step forwards. When you aren't immediately swarmed by the huge mass of things you can feel downstairs you let out a sigh of relief. You see another door, not locked but still looking plenty sturdy. Alright, this should hold. You quickly freeze the internal door over and look through the haze of heat, seeing if there are any captives of some kind. Thankfully, you don't feel any humans down there, just an endless writhing mass of heat.

You let out a relieved sigh as you plant your sword tip down, digging into the dirt floor slightly. You spread your focus over the entire inside of the base, reaching every nook and cranny before slowly starting to cool it down. You lean forwards slightly, eyes moving out of focus as you feel the temperature start to drop.

You hear the Enforcer start shuffling slightly behind you and remember that you never told her what you are doing. You look over to her and speak. "I'm just freezing the entire inside of the base, once everything is dead it should be safe to go through and destroy everything inside. She nods and you lapse back into silence, one that slowly becomes more and more awkward as time passes. The temperature inside was just passing minus thirty when you feel the urge to say something, to break the silence.

"So uhmm, what..." You shift a little as she turns her head to look at you, brought out of her thoughts. "What's your name?"

She stares at you for a minute, face tightening for a moment before she forcefully relaxes with a nod. "I am Ariana Stone." Her fingers play with the hem of her jacket as you go back to looking at nothing. You still feel like you should say something, but you just don't know what to say. In the end, you just stand there silently as the temperature inside drops below minus one hundred. You could feel the things inside slowing, ice growing over their bodies as they writhed.

It barely takes another fifteen minutes before you can't feel anything moving, the temperature inside having dropped to below minus two hundred. That should be that dealt with. "Everything down there is frozen solid, it should be safe to move in now." She nods, pushing herself off of the wall she was leaning against as you walk to the frozen door. A quick effort has the ice melt into steam as you push it open. There is a sudden blast of cold that you stymie by creating a bubble of warmth around the two of you. When you advance through the halls, you see so many Scrant's. Your partner shatters every single one of them that you pass, you quietly make sure that the ice weakens a second before she attacks it, so that they shatter completely.

You make a quick pace through the corridor, eventually leading into a large room, which contains dozens of frozen Scrant's. They cover ever surface, frozen blobs gathered together to maintain warmth. You feel around, and sense tiny masses of temperature in some of them. They are still alive, barely. Holy shit. "Hey, some of these are still alive." She looks sharply over at you as you wave to a particularly large blob. "It's just barely still alive, somehow." She bares her teeth slightly as she looks at the giant pile, before reluctantly turning to you.

"I don't have anything that can destroy something this large."

You nod. "Anything I use might bring the ceiling down on us." You tap your fingers on the handle of your sword before nearly hitting yourself in the face with it. God I can be stupid. You step forwards, raising your sword and swinging it in a quick motion, the blazing edge melting a path clean through the ice. It takes a little while, but you start cutting blocks out of the ice, once they are out, they are either shattered of crushed by one of you.

A little while into this, you feel a group of people approaching on the surface, stopping by the Scout for a while before moving on through the door. You feel them flinch and hold at the sheer cold coming from the door and step back from the pile. "Hey, I think the soldiers just got here. I'm going to go bring them down." She nods at you as she works at breaking an ice cube apart and you make sure to keep the air near her from getting too cold.

A quick walk later brings you into view of the soldier, one of whom checks a picture before nodding and stepping forwards. Holding out a hand to shake. "311th, Special Projects, pleasure to meet you." You shake his hand a little gingerly as you level the temperature out. "This your doing?" He wave a hand at the ice coated walls.

"Yes, I thought it would be safer to just deep freeze everything inside rather than try to fight them. Worked out pretty well." They stare at you for a moment, before nodding. Not used to magic I guess, not like I've had much longer to get used to it either. "Follow me and stay close, I'll be keeping it cold until we've finished off any survivors, I'll keep you warm." They step behind you without a word, rifles slightly raised as you walk them through the base. You catch them glancing at the shattered remains of the Scrant's that you pass, before one of them lets out a whooah at the giant ice sculptures that are the main room.

Ariana looks up from her smashing when you arrive, having just propelled a sword of ice through a particularly large cube. She looks over the soldiers, nodding curtly before turning back to her work. They spread out slightly to look around the room, keeping a careful eye of where they step. The leader stays by your side and lets out a low whistle. "Damn, all of you mages this strong?"

You shake your head. "No, as I understand, I'm somewhat of a special case. There aren't many like me." You are not going to be explaining what a Magical Girl is in a room full of frozen corpses.

He nods as he looks around, glancing up at the ceiling, supported by what looks like a stolen lamp post bent into an arch and wooden boards. "Can't use explosives to clear this out." He looks over the large chunks of ice you cut out. "Mmm, that's gonna take a while like that. Is it safe to thaw this all out?"

You shake your head. "I have no idea, I know that some of the larger ones are still alive somehow. I don't want to risk the smaller ones coming back to life somehow."

He scratches his chin, but nods at your words. "Yeah, not really sure what our loadout could do here." He looks down at the rifle in his arms. "Would probably pass through without doing anything, or get stuck. 'Aint got any organs to hit."

You make an agreeing hum as you begin cutting through the ice again. "Yeah, when I fought the others, I had to either shatter their skeleton or cut all of the mass from them." He gives your sword a conspicuous look. Probably because it is both longer than you are tall, and blazing blue flames that lick the edges.

He keeps near you as his team tries to search the room through a foot of ice. It takes about an hour before you've finished cutting, the enormous pile now just scattered fragments of ice. Now, you can't feel anything left living here, and you test your resurrection theory. Turns out, no, de-thawing them is safe. You quickly heat the rest of the room back up, being careful to keep the steam from scalding anyone as you do. Once everything is thawed, the solders go through a proper search, through what is left after the Scrant's melted everything in their efforts to huddle.

After watching them sift through things for an hour, you eventually leave them to do their thing, Ariana staying with them as you return back to HQ. The Scout outside hands you another full body coat, which you take with a thanks as you set off. A cup of Tea was waiting for you when you get back, and you make a note to thank the Scout somehow.

You settle down with your drink, de-transforming and shucking your coat as you drink. You flick your radio on and contact Morgan. "Hey Morgan, everything has been dealt with over here."

She replies with a quiet crackling in the background. "That's good, how did it go?"

You grip your mug a little tighter before you respond. "Everything has been dealt with over here."

She lets her end of the radio flick off for a moment, before she responds. "Alright, your driver should be arriving within ten minutes or so. When you get back, I'll have a warm bath ready. Ok?"

You nod and make a quiet noise of agreement. "That sounds nice." The line falls silent as you stare into your cup, sitting there as you hear the soldier quietly shuffling around, doing something that you ignore.

Eventually, you feel a tap on your shoulder, looking up to see your driver. He gives you a solitary nod as he guides you into the back, setting off down the road with his customary smoothness. He doesn't say anything for the entire trip, and you stare out of the window blankly, not really seeing anything. When you get home, Morgan is waiting for you at the door. She ushers you through your room and into the bath, helping you along until you get in the bath. Una joins you a moment later, and you hug her close, blanking your mind on anything but her.

You wake up an hour later, Una is gently shaking you awake as the water starts to cool. You both get out, her sticking close to you as you go to bed.

The next morning comes quickly, and you are dragging yourself out of bed to select your next mission all too soon.

If this is anything like IRL, Germany's the economic pillar of the EU. Letting it collapse is not an option.

How did he know?! The only person alive (except us) who knows about it is our sister.

Buffs and Debuffs are applied at 50% strength and only last one turn. Enemies Magic Modifier must overwhelm yours or incoming spells will be negated, otherwise they do 25% less damage.
It is time. :drevil:

On the top of my head, either there is a Mind Reader in England or some sort of 'Identify' spell exists.

Edit: Or Una told someone.

Of the three England seems to be a clean up job, it'd be nice for the enforcers if we did that but far from necessary. France has yet to become a problem so as long as scouting is the minimum it can be put off. Now Germany needs some help, even if it was labeled as a stalemate I'd still say we should support them.

And I'll just edit in the exp plan when it's been decided.
