Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

It's certainly not normal outdoors wear, but it wouldn't have people going MAGIC IS REAL.
It would have them tutting under their breath about what parents allow kids out in these days.

Well, we can just throw a jacket over it to hide the more... uh... obviously unusual parts. Maybe the lower part of the armour can actually appear like a sundress (no idea if it is a skirt or trousers, but I guess the former); a little early for May, but no one should mind that much.

@Naron We might be able to get away with wearing clothes over our armor depending on the current weather. It's not like our appearance change when we transform.
Already included.

Best I can tell, you don't actually have a skirt, it's just a white something in that picture. (This is the original character art of True Arfoire.)
Your legs have the normal 75% covered, but uncovered thigh section, that all Neptunia Transformations have.

@Rukia How long does it take to summon our armor?
Start to finish, between five and three seconds.
Long enough to get hit by nearly any attack.

Hm... a quick search gives me this picture
If you look in the lower right corner... this appears like the beginning of a skirt to me.

Literally the image I just posted earlier...

It does look a bit like a skirt, but it doesn't really fit with the rest of the character design.
Also, there is no indicator of a skirt on the Beta Design.

EDIT:
I also found this one:
This appears to be a skirt, but it kind of looks like normal leg armour?

It could be a skirt, but this is hard to say... ugh, why could they not make a full-body sketch?

How about we just say there is a skirt that goes to the mid-thigh, with the usual combat stockings ending at about the point where it starts?

Okay then... I guess we can wrap this tangent up.

I just put in a note to throw over a long coat or something like that, if they have anything of the like on hand.
Anything else people would like to point out?

God, did I just spend two hours debating whether a character that was never drawn fully has a skirt or not...

Worry not, we were with you all the way.
To be fair, it is kind of important for us to know how we look like.

And... honestly? Even without a skirt, Cerys still has one of the most decent sets of armour of her whole franchise.

We still haven't decided how to react if the mage doesn't feel Human.
No changes, just go to Stage 2 and freeze him. Cerys does not even suspect it; we would blatantly use meta-knowledge for this if we included something of that kind.
And even if she would have this kind of thought, we have no idea what works best against... uh... liches? So we can only do what we know works on other beings, or improvise from there.

You are all assuming that the pic I dropped was the guy you are hunting.
It is the most likely conclusion, considering when you dropped that image.

I did think about other explanations, but the only I came up with was that this is how it feels for any human mage to have a MG after them.

Edit: Besides, I will be really relieved if Stage 2 actually works... and also a little sad because Stage 3 will have been for naught in that case.

A little late, but vote is locked for now.

IGNITE LEGEND
Right, first things first, need a lay of the land. You stretch your sense out as far as it can go, wincing slightly from the amount of people, but it's manageable. You don't know which of the heat signatures is the man, but you don't sense any of the Scrant's. Hopefully that means that they aren't here, rather than avoiding your sense in some way, the tendency for things to do that recently was annoying.

You summon your armour, getting a brief look from the solider, who you give a sharp narrowing of the eyes as his eyes linger. "Pass me a coat." Your words are a little curt, but he moves to do so, handing you a large brown overcoat that goes down to your knees. The only part of you that is exposed are your shins, and it just looks like you are wearing strange boots. Despite how ridiculous you look, you step outside and start walking. It only takes you ten minutes or so to have covered the entire village.

No Scrant's inside at least. That would make your job a great deal easier. You move to looking distance of his house, and manage to pick it out. You sense a human temperature inside, though it is colder than normal in odd spots. Still, you return to HQ and shed your coat, the man thankfully keeping his eyes to himself this time. "I've done a quick search of the area, no magical creatures of any kind and the target is currently inside his house." He nods as you look at the map. "Where is the Scout and the Enforcers?"

He waves his hand over an area of the map. "Scout is out here, looking for his base, wherever it is. The Enforcers are in their civvies and are hanging around close to his house."

You nod as you lean against the table. You had planned on having the Scout watch the house, but if the Enforcers were already there, then they would do a better job. "Alright, my plan is to try and kill him without any fuss. If there is a problem, then it's going to get a little messy." You grimace at that, the entire street was tightly packed, you could probably take out two buildings with a single Plasma Sphere. "I'm going to go wait nearby and try to cook him alive, if that doesn't work, then I'll either freeze him solid or deal with him in person."

The man doesn't say anything about your plan, just nodding, though you suppose that makes sense. He doesn't really know anything about how magic works, not that you do either, so he doesn't have much input. When you are putting the coat back on, he does pipe up as you open the door. "Good luck, I hope you get the bastard." You tip your head back at him, still a little conflicted on saying 'Sure, I'll murder this man real good'.

The walk is quick, taking you to a small cafe where you take an outdoors seat. From here, you can make it to his front or back door in barely twenty seconds. You metaphorically shift your gaze onto him, feeling him pacing around his room rapidly. Okay... Okay. Lets do this. You take a even breath, slowly breathing out as you try to grasp the heat inside of him.

It's... slippery? Your grasp just slides over them in a strange manner. He stiffens, stopping his pacing and looking around the room. Shit shit shit. You try to grasp them more forcefully, feeling a twinge of something but still not getting anywhere. You feel him shift and bolt towards the back door. You quickly snap the temperature of the door down into negative sixty, taking all of the heat from the door and shunting it into his face. You are sure that burned his skin somewhat, and the door is frozen solid.

You quickly continue, focusing on freezing the exits while throwing the heat at him. It barely takes you twenty seconds before the entire house is frozen shut. You can feel him frantically kicking at the ice, but it's frozen solid, not simply lined. You start focusing on the area around him now, lowering the temperature of the entire building as fast as you can.

It plunges into the negatives in barely thirty seconds, but you feel him doing something, before you feel a spike of magic.

(Come to Me!: 0 Scrant's Summoned)

The sudden chill that is seeping through his bones evidently throws off something, because you just feel his magic fizzle out in a slightly sickening wave. You can feel tiny little pieces of ice spreading across the floor of the room as his Magic spikes again, slightly more desperately this time.

(Come to Me!: 0 Scrant's Summoned)

You can feel his body heat being sapped slowly, clouds of heat leaving his body through his mouth and crystallising rapidly until the hot air falls to the ground and shatters into chunks of ice. He kneels on the floor for stability, as Ice starts creeping up the insides of the walls and the layer on the floor grows thicker. It must be nearly minus eighty inside now.

(Come to Me!: 2 Scrant's Summoned)

Suddenly, his magic spikes higher than before, and you feel two sudden heat signatures pass through your sensing range and appear at his side at impossible speeds. You work to keep freezing them, but before you can react, he waves his arm and one of them punches a hole straight through the wall. The ice coating it keeps it from crumbling, but another two hits smashes a human sized hole in the back wall and into the garden.

You jump to your feet, rushing out of view of the passerbys and incinerating the coat confining your movement before you slide around the corner and jump the fence, newly created sword still letting off motes of flame as you land.

The man is covered in ice and shivering heavily, next to him are two Scrant's, though these are much larger than the one you saw the other day. They completely lack skin, allowing you to see that they were entirely empty, bar skeleton. This surprises you for just long enough that they notice you before you can act. One of them flows in front of the man, while the other rushes towards you.

You Halt the man, to stop him from summoning anything else and push your Aura a foot past your skin, sprinting towards them at top speed as you form a set of Ice spears and take aim at the one in the back.

Both of your spears shoot forwards as you pulse your magic, punching all the way through the jelly of its body and shattering against the bones inside, sending chunks of ice tearing through it's gooey body. Some of the loose slime is sprayed over the man's face, covering his eyes where they are frozen open. You see his face steaming slightly where it lands before you move your eyes back to the Scrant in front of you, lifting your sword and tearing it through the air with a rush of reinforcement.

Your blade parts through it's gooey mass without issue, cutting an enormous swath of the flesh from the target completely as it flops sideways, placing it in perfect position to spin and bring your sword around for a overhead chop.

It sinks in without issue, reaching all the way down and shattering a part of the spine, sending splinters tearing through its body. It just shifts its mass to use what is still connected and lunges it's entire body at you, entering your Aura and bursting into flames along it's entire mass.

It's burning body wraps around you, every shift simply exposing more mass to burn, even as it buries you entirely inside it's gooey body. It doesn't have enough mass to cover more than your legs and arms, but you can feel the acid scathing away at your Armour with every passing second.

(Scrant 1: +25 Engulf, +1 Dice = 26 Total Damage

Ignition Knight: +48 Base Resilience, +2 Dice = 50 Total Reduction

Even though you can feel the burning, it doesn't seem to be doing anything to your armour beyond dissolving the slight layers of dirt that have built up on the outside.

You still strain your arms, looking for purchase as you feel the Magic holding the summoner twitch briefly before it fails. He falls to the ground, screaming in pain as the acid on his face continues burning his flesh. He lies there screaming as he frantically scrubs his face, even as you push as much magic into your reinforcement as possible, trying to tear your way through the Scrant with brute force as you flare your magic.

It's then that the two Enforcers that were nearby arrive, turning the corner and not even taking a moment to stop before they begin firing.

One of them sends a blazing wave of fire rushing over you that melts a good chunk of the Scrant holding you whilst barely even ruffling you, more than enough for you to tear yourself free and swing your sword at it as you spin on the spot.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +15 Dice, x3 Crush = 195 Total Damage

Scrant 1: +25 Base Resilience, +4 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 23 Total Reduction

Scrant 1: 295 - 172 = 123)

It explodes, spraying acidic goop everywhere that simply slides off of your body, only a small layer remaining around the cracked and damaged bones now. As you raise your sword to finish it, the other Mage punches both of her fists forwards, a sudden rush of cold coming from the house as two swords of ice rapidly form in front of her hands, firing as she finishes the motion.

They both slam straight into the creature, the hilts stopping them from penetrating any deeper than they do, but still flash-freezing a massive portion of it's mass as they release the temperature that was contained within, rapidly melting away to water that flows out of the now gaping wounds.

The summoner, finally having cleared his face, takes the opportunity to spike his magic wildly and attempt another summon.

(Come to Me!: 1 Scrant's Summoned)

Another Scrant is dragged to him, sliding across the ground as it takes its position in front of its creator, just as your sword connects with the downed Scrant with a grunt.

The impact with the bone shatters them completely, a pulse of magic tearing the Scrant to pieces, little bits of it flopping to the ground as you spin on the spot and Halt the Summoner again. Then you create another pair of Ice spears and aim for the heavily damaged Scrant.

They blow enormous chunks of its body across the wall behind it, the spine simply falling through the mass as it loses cohesion and flows across the floor like sticky honey. The newest Scrant moves back, taking position in front of the man as he struggles in your bind.

(Bind Escape Roll:

He breaks out with a slight burst of magic, looking exhausted by the feat, but still reaching to summon again.

The hardened edge skitters across your armour making a horrific screeching noise, and you feel a brief flash of Weakness that latches onto you, but you are unharmed. He explodes, black-blue blood painting the walls as his body pops like a balloon. The blood is incinerated by your Aura before it can touch you, but the woman next to you is lightly splattered with the liquid. You can spell the rank stench from here, it's enough to make the woman gag, even as you both turn to deal with the last two Scrant's.

They let out a sub-verbal rumbling and waver, their forms growing and shrinking and they move their mass, before both of them throw themselves at the Fire mage. She jumps backwards even as you swing your sword at one of them, but the other passes you by and engulfs her completely, cutting her shout short.

Enforcer 1: 98 - 50 = 48

Curse Applied)

It's claws cut deep, spraying blood through the slimy mass of the other Scrant. You quickly swing your sword at the standing Scrant again, desperately trying to think of a way to free the trapped woman without harming her as you hear the other woman shouting something.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +16 Dice, x3 Crush = 198 Total Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +1 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 20 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 445 - 178 = 267
)

Your blade cuts deep, cauterizing entire sections of the blob as it steadfastly ignores you, swinging it's remaining mass into a claw.

(Scrant 4: +50 Acid Claws, +2 Dice = 52 Total Damage

Enforcer 1: +15 Base Resilience, +5 Dice, -20 Cant move = 0 Total Reduction

Enforcer 1: 48 - 52 = -4)

This time, the claws reach, instead of cutting shallowly. They hit her in the side of the stomach and keep going, brutal cracking noises coming from the blob as her scream are smothered. You are just drawing your sword back for another swing when it's claws reach her middle, stopping briefly at her spine before they snap it in two, shattered fragments of bone intermingling with her intestines as her internal organs are rapidly eaten away by the acid surrounding her.

You see the claws exit, a spray of blood following them as the screaming stops, the woman's lungs quickly turning into a liquid before your eyes as her skin flakes and sloughs off in enormous chunks. The tendons in her arm are eaten away with the flesh, and the entire limb floats away from its socket, her half eaten skull showing you a brief peak of brain before you tear your eyes away.

You breath harshly as you shunt as much magic through your body as you can, sword lighting up with lines that stretch all the way cross your body, painting you in a harsh blue light. The air screams as your blade passes, brightly burning edge reaching for your target.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +13 Dice, +100 ???, x3 Crush = 489 Total Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +1 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 20 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 267 - 469 = -202
)

Your sword connects with the force of a freight train and the world cracks slightly as your give your all to End these things. You see the cracks spread through its body, reaching in impossible ways as you push your magic. Then, it shatters, pieces falling into ash as it disintegrates before the heat your blade was giving off.

You quickly clamp the heat down when you feel people closing, attracted by the noise from the street outside. You shoot the other Enforcer a look and despite her shellshocked look and the tears dripping down her face, she quickly nods and turns towards the entrance, magic pulsing wildly as she goes. You turn back to the two Scrant's, briefly taking the moment to Halt the frozen one as you turn your eyes back towards the other one.

You can barely even make out what little was left of her, just a few fragments of bone here and there that quickly disappear before your eyes. The blob wiggles strangely for a moment, before the skull turns to look at you backwards.

You grit your teeth, creating two spears of Ice and lining them up, firing them with a brief pulse of magic.

(Ignition Knight: +108 Thermal Spear, +28 Dice, +63 Spell Boost = 199 Total Damage
Ignition Knight: +108 Thermal Spear, +21 Dice, +63 Spell Boost = 192 Total Damage

391 Total End Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +15 Dice = 40 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 743 - 351 = 392)

Both of them go exactly as you had aimed, punching enormous craters in it's body as they shatter the skull, sending bone fragments everywhere as it reels. You take the chance to close, pushing off with a bang, sword raised high.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +28 Dice, x3 Crush = 234Total Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +15 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 34 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 392 - 200 = 192
)

You hear people shouting behind you as you spin, raising your sword across your body from your strike just as the Scrant slowly throws an arm forwards.

(Scrant 5: +50 Acid Claws, +7 Dice = 57 Total Damage

Ignition Knight: +37 Base Resilience, +33 Dice = 70 Total Reduction

Ignition Knight: 500 - 0 = 500)

The claws slide down your blade, leaving very slight divots as they go and you spin, taking the force of the swing and using it to strike harder.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +2 Dice, x3 Crush = 156 Total Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +13 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 32 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 192 - 124 = 68
)

You quickly follow your swing with another, stomping the ground with a harsh crash to rapidly change your momentum, blade coming around again.

(Ignition Knight: +50 Infinity Edge, +16 Dice, x3 Crush = 198 Total Damage

Scrant 5: +25 Base Resilience, +9 Dice, -6 Armour Pierce = 28 Total Reduction

Scrant 5: 68 - 170 = -102
)

Your final swing bisects it, cutting the spine clean in two as your blade disintegrates the goo it touches. The two halves drop to the ground pitifully, making a squelching noise as you turn your eyes to the last Scrant. It was completely stationary, not even making your magic twitch as it held it still. You slowly walked towards it, spears of fire appearing over your shoulders until you have a small ring rotating around your body. You raise your sword, pointing right at it's face, and unleash your magic.

(Ignition Knight: +108 Thermal Spear, +5 Dice, +69 Spell Boost = 182 Total Damage

182 x 10 = 1820 Total End Damage

Scrant 3: +25 Base Resilience, +11 Dice = 36 Total Reduction

Scrant 3: 379 - 1748 = -1369)

It disappears in a blinding flash, a muffled boom rushing out and silencing the crowd beyond as you slowly let your sword lower until the tip is touching the ground. The windows around you are shattered and the walls have slight cracks running up their length.

You turn, walking towards the gaping hole in the fence that something had created. You can see the other Enforcer standing there, looking completely lost as tears sneak out of the corners of her eyes, but still holding the crowd back from the fight.

You slowly walk up beside her, sword dragging a trail through the dirt before you lift it to your shoulder and stop, looking out at the small group of people standing there. There are only five or six and they were completely silenced when you emerged, lines on your body still glowing faintly and steam rising from your form. You turn to the Enforcer, setting a hand on her shoulder and giving her a nod. "Go and report this to HQ, this needs to be cleaned up. I'll stay here."

She gives you a shaky nod, making her way past the crowd, who nervously edge out of her way as they stare at you. You are glad that you have somehow cowed them, you were carefully controlling your urge to hyperventilate, the events of the last several minutes catching up to you in a rush that leaves you light headed.

One of the crowd, a younger girl of maybe six, tries to step back around the corner she was standing next to. You snap your eyes to her and she freezes, moving back to her position without a word. One of the older members, an older man who was just showing wrinkles steps forwards shakily and tries to speak, it takes him several attempts, but he eventually makes it. "W-What... What was this? What is that?" You realise that he can see the blood-splattered walls and piles of slowly shifting goo, shattered skeletons poking through in places.

Evidently his words give the others courage, and they start to shift and open their mouths. Before they can say a word, you stab your sword into the ground tip first, resting your hands on the top of the handle as the lines and steam fade from your body. "Quiet, someone will be here to talk to you about this soon. Please remain silent and wait for them." You have no fucking clue what you are supposed to say here, but decide to throw them a bone at least. "The creatures have been destroyed, there is no need for panic." They have no idea what you are talking about, but hopefully it would be enough to keep them quiet before someone arrived and save you.

You stand there, occasionally giving people sharp looks as they move to speak up for roughly twenty minutes, before you hear a helicopter. It quickly approaches overhead, hovering low above you as the passengers quickly rappel down the sides, landing in the garden behind you. They quickly filter out, four of them moving onto the street and spreading out, guns in hand. Two of them move over to the group of people and start herding them, they move to make protests before you walk over and ask. "I hope there won't be any problems here?" They quickly shake their heads and follow after the soldiers.

Back in the garden, another two stand guard as a tall man approaches you at a quick pace. He stops before you, throwing you a quick salute before speaking. "SAS 312th, Special Projects Team, reporting for duty ma'am"

You give him a nod, slightly confused as to why he was saluting you, but running with it. "Mage has been dealt with, what's left of him is in there." You wave vaguely at the demolished garden. "There are no other enemies within the town that I can sense, the only people who witnessed this to my knowledge are the group there, but there might be more." Your voice cracks slightly as you continue. "One Enforcer killed in action, her body was destroyed completely."

He gives you a quick nod as he turns an calls something out to one of the people in the garden, before turning back to you. "Right, we'll have this locked down immediately. We've got another squad on the way, they should be here within thirty minutes. I'm assuming that the secondary target hasn't been engaged yet?"

It takes you a moment to realise that he is talking about the possible base, and you shake your head as the Enforcer turns the corner at a sprint, skidding to a stop at your side with a wild look on her face. "What, what's wrong?"

She leans over and pants, shaking her head. "No. No, it's fine, I just ran over here fast." You let out a relived sigh as she straightens up and looks at you. She still looks terrible, her face is puffy from her crying and she has several scratches from shrapnel, but she looks ready to fight.

You gently pat the taller woman on the shoulder as you ready yourself. "You don't need to come with me for the next part, I can do the rest with the other team."

She shakes her breath as she sets her face. "No, I want to do this." She bites her lip as she looks at the garden, at the blob that had consumed the other mage. She shakes her head again but doesn't say anything.

You look to the soldier who was talking with someone on the radio and tap his shoulder. He glances over and keeps talking, pulling away from his radio after a moment.

You got lucky he kept rolling to summon Scrant's rather than something else.
I basically would have gone through every creature I've created, assigned a number and rolled a dice.
It could have summoned things you've never even heard of...
