Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Good point... although we are supposed to be a hundred metres in the air... but I will add it just in case.
You thought I was but a wolf... but it was I, Thunderbird!

Seriously though, I wouldn't take any chance. Like I said previously, Wild Hunt sounds like a tracking spell, but since it can deal damage; it might also be some sort of charging ability. And since magic doesn't have to make sense, I wouldn't be surprised if it can step on the air while using it.

Quite frankly considering the size of the thing i wouldnt put it past it to somehow be able to jump 100+ feet into the air in order to nom on us.

I now imagine the wolf jumping at us with its maw wide open, only to get a perfectly ordinary supersonic spray of superheated Plasma to bite...
It is quite the amusing mental image.

I will be honest here. When I saw we were going to hunt a giant wolf, I briefly considered that we should tame it.

After all, every knight need their own loyal steed mount.

Maybe we can do something like that later, when Cerys can afford to not actually kill her soon-to-be mount.

Besides, I would rather not have the wolf for that. With how Cerys' colour scheme is, we would only need some more coverage, a helmet and a greatshield for... unfortunate parallels.
I recall that Cerys is more of a cat-person; maybe there is some kind of large cat running around somewhere? Or she could tame a tigress once she has some time.

When I think of Wild Hunt, I think summons personally, especially when we consider what the mythological meaning is.

Summoning other wolves (maybe just normal ones), possibly ghostly to hunt us down.

I guess maybe even huntsmen as well like in the myth but this time with the logic that it is ones the wolf killed in the past or something.

edit: If that is the case, then based on other canon summoning characters in CWMGQ then the magic modifier of 20 would be a "roll 1d20" for the amount of minions summoned. The skill would also probably have a max that can be summoned at once.

Example

LostDeviljho: Magical Girl Scarlet Empress said:
Amass the Legion
-Summons 1d10 Scarlet Legionaries. Max 100 summoned at any one time.
Level 10
Base Damage: N/A
Magic Modifier: 10
Affinity: Rule
Ability: Summon

Am going to take a quick afternoon sleep, I expect that the vote will have been decided in six hours or so, so I'll write it then.
(WTF even is my sleeping schedule)

Never got in touch with the land sadly. Ah well some other time.

Looks like a good plan Naron.

I don't know if the mega will actually have any flying defence or not. The only large airborne predators (magic ones) with even a chance of taking something like this on are Dragons. And the thunder bird. Apparently. (also Rocs).

Also, really. What is that thing doing here? At least mythologically they are native to Central America.

Oh... I guess I will get to see it tomorrow, then. I will not be awake that late in the evening after pulling an all-nighter.
But this is fine, because I wanted to leave the last strategy to the others anyway.

Maybe it lost its job there and came to Europe to start a new life?

Cerys is capable of multitasking, so she should be able to keep them stable after casting; she can just not cast more than two (Double Cast) per turn (~10s), so preparations on that end should take one to two minutes.
Guess that answers that.
-[X] It lives in a woodland; find its position with Thermal Sense and keep yourself far above in the air, then prepare a few Thermal Spears
Another nitpick: Before we start creating a few spears, we should make sure the Wolf cannot detect magic as far as where we currently are. It'd be annoying if it detected us while we were preparing.

How do we want to make sure of that? This is not possible.

However, I doubt that it will think much of it; magical beings capable of Flight should not be that rare and we are good at hiding our full power. Even if it notices us beforehand, we should have first strike because a being used to hunting humans will not expect to become the prey in such a way.

Besides, the spears are made via Thermal Sense, so it should not be able to notice them (easily).

It's worth considering that as a giant magical wolf, the Megatherium may have some kind of howl or sonic ability that can still affect us if we're out of reach. Even if it's only enough to stun or stagger us, that knocks Cerys out of the air and drops her right into its paws.

I am not sure there is anything hidden in that sheet. Something with Stun does exist, but the only part of the Megatherium that could have it is Wild Hunt.
I would rather expect this Spell to have Shred, though.

Aside from that, there is no place we would be safe from its howl if that does stun us. If we fight on the ground from the start, it does not even need to do anything save charging to attack.

Yeah, but falling out of the sky is considerably worse than getting rocked on the ground, and situational/invisible modifiers are thing with this system.

Eh, if it stuns us on the ground, we eat two hits that have Bleed and two other Abilities as well as a ton of damage, so we would be dead as much as if we fell out of the sky.
Additionally, we do not know for sure that being stunned automatically dispells Flight. It might just stop us from actually flying, but has us still float in place.

I guess it depends how much you want to look at fairy tales for hints of truth and since Rukia did give me an insightful rating when I suggested that before I'll run with it. The wolf might have a breath attack or ability, you know the whole "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down!"

Either way we'll find out soon enough.
