These ones have zero reason to attack the civilians. They have no idea what our motive is, and given they seem to be ruling a small village with an iron fist it's likely their first instinct would be a power grab.
Also, why would you attack your own worshipers/slaves? Sure the wasps might but that's why they should be pulled in and dealt with first. Tay could just nuke them, problem solved.
Whenever you decide to set up a dimensional barrier, it's important to keep in mind that parahumans are not mages. Some of them have powers that are magic-like enough that it makes no difference; others are no more magical than normal humans.
Capes with these kinds of powers ARE brought into Recursion Field: altered elemental composition, energy-based states, shapeshifters, touch-based and area-based exotic effects, telekinesis or pyrokinesis or any other -kinesis, energy blasts, projected forcefields, power nullifiers or enhancers or manipulators, telepathic control of other organisms, regenerators, teleporters, pre-cogs.
Capes with these kinds of powers ARE NOT brought into Recursion Field: advanced technology, passive thought or emotion manipulation, superstrength, superdurability, analytical superthinking, enhanced senses, flight, superspeed.
The "are" list trumps the "are not" list. These are not all-inclusive because really, there is no possible way they can be, but by and large any unmentioned powers could probably (hopefully) be compared to one of those listed.
Parahumans have the same odds of possessing Linker Cores as everyone else, but until they either start exercising their magic or lose connection to their shards (for instance, by you giving them a Device), it will be their cape powers that determine whether or not they fall into a dimensional barrier.
@Silently Watches, does it really affect the outcome of the fight whether the plan goes on super sten-by-step detail? Or would a more concise lead to the same effect?
'Cause every fight scene it seems like we are trying to control every second and action of the fight, and I imagine it can get asphyxiating to write like that.
Therefore, I propose this:
[X] Vista locks down the Blaster
-[X] Taylor bursts down the unknown cape, while Samantha rushes the Master down.
Because then we can take a look directly at her mind, and if she tries to pull something we have reinforcements. An issue I have with most of the offered plans is Unisoning with the Simurgh. We, in-setting, don't really trust her yet, so why would we decide to combine with her out of the blue?
It is less likely to affect the outcome in this case so much as it does the process. Mostly because you have the element of surprise on your side. I actually don't mind all the detail because it gives me more of a scaffold to build the scene on. Otherwise I would have to come up with everything myself.@Silently Watches, does it really affect the outcome of the fight whether the plan goes on super sten-by-step detail? Not a good idea to test out in the middle of a combat zone, imo.Because then we can take a look directly at her mind, and if she tries to pull something we have reinforcements.

I feel like Silently is the type to want us to succeed but also willing to let us fail, so it's likely, even probable, that Cassie is actually as helpful as she's shown us to be.I figured if we want to ever see it, we need to bite the bullet and do it. It might be a truly horrible idea, that will bite us in the brain, but the very fact that it isn't necessary, that Sam and Missy might each be capable of fighting all three solo, and are a pretty safe bet with just the two of them, make this a... less ill-advised than other times might be.
Vote closed. I'm almost sad that you decided to try out Unison now because I had a great time in my head to show it off coming up. Oh well.![]()
Oh, the scene will still take place! It just would have been that much more fun if it was also the first time Unison showed up. But it might actually work out better this way because Taylor will recognize the appearance changes that come from Unison with Cassiel.I figured people weren't going to be willing to vote for it in a more serious fight. If I'd known you had a scene plotted out without it, I'd have been happy to leave it out of the vote. C'est la vie.
Ah, so this would be the point that Vista realizes just what Cassiel is?
Coyotes maybe. It depends on her Shard's arbitrary definition of 'dog'. Classic race definition among canines is murky.*Canon shows she can affect wolves, too, so can she do foxes, coyotes, or what? Her power might not go any further than dogs and wolves, but it would be fun to find out.
Y'know, considering what she does to them, I hope Rachel CAN"T mess with foxes. Foxes are awesome.
