Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Kayleigh left herself an out here.

'An out' as defined by the writers of such dreck as Gossip Girl. Which is to say. 'it's okay if I lie because I'm cute/sexy/whatevs'.

Not like Kayleigh. Kayleigh actually cares about Taylor and will actively work towards the goal of making her happy. And if making Taylor happy also makes another of her friends happy? Bonus points.

This is the only reason Taylor wouldn't put her in a body cast, but not enough that Kayleigh isn't going to lose teeth.

No matter how amusing Kayleigh's silliness, I'll vote for dumping her like a hot potato when we find out about that IC.
The very first important secret Taylor shared with her - and she immediately broke Taylor's trust.

Dumping after a very serious Reason You Suck speech and a backhand slap which knocks out some teeth.

As someone who's had personal experience with someone who operated like this, the best thing you can do is completely ignore their existence and move on. There are faster ways to get me to suddenly despise a character, but not many.

In all seriousness, do the people advocating for dumping her really want to estrange one of the only friends Taylor has outside her family?

I'm not saying she shouldn't be angry or chew her out a bit, but would it even be in character for Taylor? Given how far she's come from canon.
As for named characters in Worm generally to almost always being capes or potential capes? Not to sound rude, but that's not my problem. Non-capes are people, too.
Y-You can't mean... You're saying powerless people should be relevant?! What's wrong with you?!

Took longer than desirable to read this, so responding before I read the 3+ pages of comments.

"Besides," Kayleigh added with a haughty sniff, "I was right, too. Not Circus, but she is Calamity Witch."

Kaaayyleigh, you gots some explainin!!! You take this little time to go blaaab?

"I love you like a sister, Kayleigh

At least its a besty-friend, but that just raises further questions! (And makes me regret the relative lack of school-life updates) . Who is this girl that we've never been introduced by Kayleigh? Name doesn't pop up in past searches anyways. Does she not share us with her friend circle to help us out of our shell?

"Kayleigh, what the ever loving FUCK is wrong with you?!" shrieked the older girl, whirling around and getting slapped in the face by her heavy hood. "You don't go around digging into cape's real identities, and you sure as hell don't go blabbing them to everyone!"
"And don't you dare go spreading her identity around! I need to figure out how I'm going to fix the mess you've already made.

Wooo defending us! Well, mostly... its very hard to tell from these and the update whether its motivated by 1. Professional devotion to Da Rulez 2. Personal Protection (doesn't want the rules not followed in her case) 3. Actual moral "Don't break these rules they are good" and protecting our safety too. Moreso once she knows who we are... But her bothering to try and fix the mess (rather than tell Kayleigh to stfu and forget about it) suggests some element of doing it for our sake, I feel like! *blind optimism intensifies*

I'm only telling you because you need to know." Like really, really, really needed to know.

She'd better have a good reason.... puppy to save? Villain to protect from? Villain who shouldn't get in a fight with us? (But she doesn't know us...)

"Laura, Taylor's the girl you were dancing with at Greg's party."

*Happy Squee!* Bluehair returns!! <3 <3 Why's she need to know....

"It means that she's perfect for you. Before I knew she was a cape, okay, maybe, maybe not. But she is a cape. She gets you!

*suspicion intensifies aggressively! MGS Alert sound!*

Cailleach and Calamity Witch, star-crossed lovers like a modern Romeo and Juliet!

*WINDOW SPLITTING SHRIEK* Whaaaaaaat?!?!?! Kayleigh isn't Cailleach, just happens to be friends?!?! Devious tricksy QM!
BUT CAILLEACH IS BLUEHAIR!!! *lilies bloom evurrywhere, shipping goggles bite into face* YASSSS

"First, you still broke the Rules, and for something as stupid and pointless as your matchmaking games."

Indeed a bit stupid.... I would be very unhappy with Kayleigh dearest right now IF I DIDN"T WANT TO HUG HER! <3

"Second, and even more important, I don't like girls!"

*ten thousand tears I crrryyyyyyy* Silently, Silently whyyyyy. Why must you wound us sooooo?!?!

"Are you sure? You looked like you wanted to rip her pants off at the party,"

*hope blossoms!* Ooor you just /really/ don't like easy happy relationships huh? And here on HardMode with a socially awkward and walled-off Taylor too, who's barely looked at relationships.... Perfect Storm, you're on wingman right? 60% is plenty we flirted with a random dockworker already.

"If drunk-you is okay with grinding up on another girl, doesn't that mean that part of you likes girls?"

Pleasently enlightened from her, and insightful. Better than "I was drunk so i'm not responsible" anyways. Kayleigh makes a fine Admiral indeed for this ship.

After the party chapters, there was a joke somewhere about shipping Tayler and Bluehair, plus the suspicion of Kayleigh being Cailleach (which was never a thing and I'm not sure how that idea got started), and this popped out.

But but why nooooot, its such a great plotline!! Kayleigh is right on this. Also.... SQUEEEE By My Will, Shipping Mote Be! Primo Victoria!!

Kayleigh needs a dose of some proper, old-fashioned befriending. I'm not talking about the beamspam. I'm talking about the slap to the face.
Why use a violent method when we can do something non-violent?
Our teleport can reach other Earths, and unless I'm confusing this with another fanfic/quest, we have access to an uninhabited one (Gimmel).
Get some camping supplies along with some books on wilderness survival, grab Kayleigh and tell her that we need to make sure she can't reveal out secret to anybody else, but we aren't going to kill her. Then cast Dimensional Transfer to Gimmel and leave her stranded there for a week in the middle of nowhere, implying we're never coming back, then return and offer her a second chance.
That should help "scare her straight". If it does scare her straight, it should scare her out of this yuri romance thing too as a bonus.

The above is not intended as a serious course of action, just "shooting the breeze."

A little harsh, perhaps, and full of logistical problems such as dealing with parents, but you seem to be on the right track. I applaud your suggestion, good sir.

She was related to the prize, but the prize was not the girl herself. Giving away people as presents is generally frowned upon. :lol

A missed? hint back then that she was indeed Cailleach, if that was Winter Hills drug tinker (I'm not mixing them up with Warlocks am I?) . Also puts new insight into Kayleigh's reaction to the guy and the general topic... and makes me wonder about the troubled cousin-of-party-thrower and having to keep dealer happy. Anyways, very much wondering from pure curiosity what sort of "Prize" we missed in relation to having gone to pester the guy.

As far as dealing with poor misguised Kayleigh... people are seriously harsh against her o_o. I realize I am extremely biased at the moment for agreeing with her desired outcomes :p but really, she told one single trusted figure and even hinted she would ahead of time (true, her reasons for "they need to know" don't quite match ours). And reading again the emphasis on how she stayed at an "invaded by murderous monsters that actually killed people at the scene" searching for us to make sure we got out safely... I feel like that sort of intense devotion and specific act (aside from 'adopting' Taylor as a friend, and being our only non-Cape one seemingly) would earn her a significant amount of forgiveness from Taylor, at least enough to hear her out and see that she clearly had the mindset of it being helpful and not (as far as a magically-accurate Lie Detector would say) betrayal. Its not great that Taylor might also be reluctant to push away her only friend after being so long without (and PS has likely mitigated that factor) but could still play into it.

Basically, I think theres plenty of reason for a long stern talk about trust and friendship, maaaaybe even some leaking of our past in BB, and quite possibly bonding with Laura as we both reprimand Kayleigh about the importance of the Unwritten Rules. It could be a very nice scene to read and give some development to Taylor outside of the goal-focused hero stuff, without us necessarily having to shoot off into a rampage of "punish disloyalty" for all it might be tempting.

The problem is that if we are not a goal oriented hero we are only going to damage ourselves in the long run. The threats of the world are many without counting those out side of it, we are at the precipice All the time without hyper focus on that front.

That's why I want Danny dead *shrugs*, non-existant moral support, the only thing that he provides is food, further worries and problems, All while expecting that we bend Over at the first sign of trouble becuase he doesn't feel like a father, even though he hadn't acted like one up to that moment.

Doesn't mean that we didn' make a lot of mistakes, becuase we did, but it still doesn't excuse him.

Ah, SV. Can't be happy unless they make the most kind of characters into the God Emperor of Mankind.

Really though, perspective. Taylor hasn't told Kayleigh about the bullying, and this may surprise you, but she's acting with the priorities of a (not particularly brilliant) common teenage girl.

Dead is a little harsh. Also keep in mind that Taylor is still only 15, unless I missed a birthday. Even if so, that doesn't change much. While we can assume Samantha would try for custody if Danny dies, I imagine that if she is outed as a Cape to the judge they'd assign her to the PRT custody and the Wards.
Even if that is too much fannon and inference, consider Samantha. What does SHE do for a living? Would Samantha be able to get custody when she doesn't have a job?

For that matter, how would Calamity Witch support herself? Recall that the members of New Wave all had to have non-cape jobs in addition to heroing.
Would a judge allow her to become an emancipated minor with no visible means of support, assuming her status as Calamity Witch is not known?

If Samantha is unsuitable and emancipation is not an option, who would get custody?

Danny dying just opens up a whole bunch of problems.

Those problems exists yes, but don't make for much of a story in the same vein as the rest of the quest. I would trust SW to handle it appropriately.

This is Worm, the pay of the privateers comes from criminals, and with the custody we can just "dissappear" and nothing will happen, just one more teenaged girl lost in the sea of people with the same status. Someone else can fill the paperwork for a house.

If you had followed the drug dealer and decided to try his product, Taylor would have relived a memory of Calamity Witch Origin's that revealed CWO's name and showed a peek into her relationship with a certain crown princess. The sneak peek I gave you was when she was dancing with Laura and thought for a moment that her perfume smelled like strawberries and myrrh (the not-quite-licorice smell) rather than the apple-scent she actually had on. Both Laura and the princess had blue hair, though only the princess's was natural.
As I think was previously mentioned in-story, Kurt and Lacey have custody of Taylor should Danny be unable to care for her.

Or it might have been that you walked into the room and basically got a contact high. That was Arc 4, this is Arc 8, so it's been way too many months for me to remember exactly how that decision tree went.

Regardless, the end result is the same. If you get anything mind-altering, the subconscious memories implanted with the CW template that let you learn new spells so easily come out to play. Or you could just ask PS to help you relive them, I guess.

On the edge of the cliff beyond which is only eon
You're standing alone in power of strange dreams,
Want to be so careless, having taken leave of this world
And to play with fire of otherwordly dreams.

Finally you're happy unlike any other,
You've been blown into the sky by angel dust,
Only it has power over delight and wind,
In the "liquid sky" your laughter sounds.

Angel dust
Is a dream and reality!

The lyrics in the video are not 100% correct, but there seem to be no other translations that are combined with the song.
