Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Not at all how things are going to go if you scan the Adepts for a number of reasons, but fun nonetheless. You need to decide if this is supposed to be in first- or third-person, though; you swapped in the middle. Still good enough for a point, just tell me where you want it.

In other news, closing the vote. Someone feel free to double-check me, but I think a lot of people were so distracted by the debates that they forgot to vote.

--[X] If ice holds, call PRT. You have a gift for them.

-[X] Cage Mysterio in: He gets stronger the more hits he takes? There's no point giving him more fuel.
-[X] Use Temporal Sludge to slow him down.
-[X] Coordinate with Fairyland to lock him in; if they could build ice walls, then that makes your job a lot easier.
-[X] Add your own Frost Beam, if it's capable of more than a layer of ice.
-[X] Relay your plans to the incoming reinforcements.

And now I get to do my thing of being slightly more in-depth.
Felix couldn't believe he was doing this; couldn't believe he allowed himself to be talked into something this horrifying. It didn't matter to him that his powers looked impressive and that he was the most senior Adept without an arrest warrant.
That's not quite how it would work. The Adepts are all villains, so either all of them are still considered a criminal organization, or they've all gotten the warrants scrubbed as part of the 'hero' conversion.
With one final sigh and last minute adjustments to the flaming falcon on his shoulder he stepped through the door and up to the podium. The few that actually turned up looked at him with the mix of morbid curiosity and disdain that he had seen all too often. Nonetheless, he had a job to do and it was best to just get the unpleasantness over with.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this press conference was called to announce that the Adepts are soon going to be reorganized into an independent hero team. We have always considered ourselves primarily researchers into the magical powers we possess and have never been considered a serious threat to the public by the PRT, so we expect there to be relatively few problems going forward."
I would honestly expect this to be a PRT-headed thing, with the NY head making the announcement and only turning it over to Epoch. Each step of the 'we're good guys now, honest' process would have to be so heavily integrated with the PRT that they'd might as well be handholding the Adepts. Especially given that the Adepts've poached from the heroes for villainy.
When Calamity Witch had laid out her plans and timetable to spread magical knowledge to the Adepts, PRT and then the public he had been gobsmacked. When she was backed up by Legend and Dragon of all people even Epoch was stunned.
Eeeh. The dude'd probably be more hyped up that he's being vindicated to the whole world and its biggest players, but that's just me.
As the slightly overweight forty-something started talking I couldn't help thinking about all that I learned at yesterday's meeting and all that was coming in the next few days. I was going to learn a ritual that would allow me to uplift an animal into a sapient hominoid changer. After four years of long and involved rituals that gave small and temporary boosts to my Magic I was going to learn a ritual that allowed me to massively improve my familiar! I am not going to go so far as Thirteenth Hour and trade my current magical powers for a different set but it will definitely be interesting to watch how that works out for her.
SW's comments on the first/third person aside, I will compliment you on picking someone who'd really mesh with the Nanoha magic Taylor brings. Felix Swoop's individual integration of his birds with Nanoha Familiars is kinda shallow, but you're more angling for what a mid-ranked guy in the Adepts thinks about everything that's going on.

Huh, thought I'd voted for Shaseyu's version... I know I'd been waiting to vote until someone fixed that bit about asking the Princesses to use ice. Whoops >_>

Well fwiw the one I would've voted for seems to lead with 5 , and they're pretty identical anyways (warn the incoming Privateers, attack now, coordinate, use ice and sludge).

Actually... There's some kind of problem with the voting system I think.

On one of the quests (maybe even this one) I've seen a vote tally that I voted for, but was NOT counted.
In fact I THINK that was one of the recent previous votes, perhaps the new spell one.
I didn't speak up at the time, because the option I wanted won anyway.

This time... There's no @Always Late in the vote tally. This isn't right. He's one of the people who introduced the vote plan of his own - the second one, actually. He's still nowhere to be found.

I welcome someone to double check me with NetTally. It does seem like a small number of voters, but I counted up the plans by hand and my total was the same as the tally's. Like I said, a lot of people got bogged down in first a discussion of what Mysterio would be weak against and then ran down the rabbit hole of scanning Vista and Device-less magic that I think they just forgot that they hadn't voted.

Thought Silently said the vote was called, but since others are voting and just to show I do want to (since they keep mentioning forgetting), here ya go!

Differences I see with the two lead plans (that is, the ones with more than one vote) is basically 1. warn the privateers or not 2. ask fairyland to help (in a way they cant?) or just stop. Not terribly different, depending if ice gets interpreted as glass (viewing mistake by Taylor?). Warning the Privateers seems important though, even if we hope to finish it before they arrive.

So, out of curiosity, why isn't our go-to strategy for enemies "find an empty dimension and dump the problem there, then work out a solution at our leisure or leave it to rot"?

At a bare minimum we could probably dunk on the Endbringers that way.

Not just the time and concentration issue Landcollector pointed out (pretty sure its been said before that it would take too long to use on someone resisting.. not sure if ring bind would be sufficient, since the raw description doesn't mention willing/unwilling). Theres also the fact that we know we need four or so mages to use Recursion Field to try and hold an Endbringer, and thats both seemingly simpler than even Spatial Translocation (let alone Dimensional) but also pretty much designed for covering very large areas and numbers of high power targets (say, jewel seed monsters and fighting mages).

I mean, it's doable. NachtWal was close if not at the level of an Endbringer, and they dealt with it by bounding it long enough to locate its core and teleport it to orbit.

Now, whether we have the means at hand to pull it off? Remember, it took ten top tier mages working together and a planet-kiler superweapon to finish it.

So it's possible, just not likely.

@Silently Watches
We haven't seen or heard anything of Coil or the Undersiders since before the Simurgh attack. Can we expect to see them at any point in the future? You did say at the end of arc 5 that the Undersiders had escaped Brockton.

Given Circus, one of Coil's 'freelance-but-actually-his' capes is here, it would seem Calvert's set up shop anew some time ago.

It seems I had forgotten that. Thank you, my good sir.

If Coil has set up shop in Philly, then Typhon could be Actual!Noelle, rather than Narrative!Noelle. It's not inconceivable.

However, that is mere speculation based mostly on the connection between Typhon and Echidna in Greek mythology. And as a wise philosopher once said about assumptions: "Don't make assumptions, idiot."
