Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

So what exactly are these great things we can do with Ring Bind, that we can't do just as good with Frost Beam? Because it seems to me like if we want to bind someone in place, encasing them in an ice that won't give them frostbite should work fine...
Specifically Frost Beam activates more slowly than Ring Bind and is easier to escape.

Binds are Nanoha-verse mages 101. Freezing spells are not.
There's a reason for that

It also got broken alot in the earlier seasons of the show. S1 Fate, IIRC.

Ok, so I need to redo my reading comprehension tests - I've been thinking of Burst as "Burst Fire" instead of "Burst On Impact". This makes Burst a lot better, to be fair, as it means we can rain thermobaric oblivion on people over a large area, instead of just firing the nuclear death cannon that is Solar Flare.

Yup. Burst is "I am shooting (non-lethal!)rpg's all over the place" while Shift(which may be below Burst in the tree based on one of SW's responses when I asked) is "You can dodge my shots? Well ain't that nice. Dodge this."
*Fires wall of Shooters at target*

Actually the Shifts we see are more like sustained bombardment spells. As seen here:

Best of that is just what nine year old Fate was capable of. As we see in the Book of Darkness fight:

the spell is capable of a lot higher firepower and being cast a lot faster0. Although said in neither the movie version nor the anime do we see Reinforce fire the spell since in both it cuts away after she summons the field of death.

So it's not a wall but I would still call that "Try and dodge this."

I see Nanoha's reaction to an unbreakable barrier is to use a Breaker spell for jet propulsion and then fire One At Sufficient Velocity after ramming through....

Since the cursory search yielded no results...

Speaking of barrage-of-projectiles spells and Book of Darkness, how would one compare those spells to the BoD-original one, Blood Dagger? Err, Bloody Dagger.
EDIT: Found this, but kinda cursory.
'Just'. A standard Shooter salvo is 4. An augmented one is 8.
The Book of Darkness' Shooter salvo is about 10-30 bloody daggers.

A Shift spell is in the order of hundreds to thousands of individual shots. It's saturation bombing.

Bloody Dagger is not particularly unique individually, but the Book of Darkness is capable of casting a much larger barrage than the four to ten of lesser spells. The shots have been shown to do about as much damage, she can just cast enough to fullauto the things where most mages are doing burst fire.

So uhh, speaking of that video.... think Taylor can end up learning the nifty Pillars of Fire attack from 2:08 or so? If you can control where the pillars appear, it seems like a precision-targeted multi-beam Solar Wrath o_o

[X] Burst
[X] Burst
Lets get all the basics while we can.

Sure, it's easily broken. By a superhuman. Who is also a mage. Honestly, between Burst, Ring Bind and Telekinesis, I think TK has the most sheer versatility, as Burst is just shotgun-style RoF, but Ring Bind is a close second and we're not likely to get TK in this vote. However, whilst this has not been confirmed or denied anywhere, I have a sneaking suspicion that capping out a tree will do a thing, and we're closer to capping the Flare tree than the Entropy tree, my vote goes to:
[X] Burst

[X] Burst

Ring Bind is used a lot in Nanoha because everyone worth shooting has some form of super speed. All the mages in Nanoha and A's have high speed flight and the ones who don't in StrikerS and Vivid are almost all superhuman.

The vast vast majority of opponents were are going to fight, and have fought for that matter, have no Mover abilities. Unless your power includes superspeed or teleportation you simply aren't outrunning a Shooter spell or escaping the area of effect for a blaster spell.

The big draw of Burst for me is that when applied to Flare Shooter it lets us take out clustered groups of people, when applied to Rust Shooter it lets us just destroy electronics/technology rather then having to target weak points, and it's hinted to unlock the danmaku version of our Shooter spells:
Wanting to finish off the shooter tree so we can have Ragnarok ready for an Endbringer fight (though Behemoth seems the best choice of target and he won't be back for another year) is my main motivation for burst.
If I knew that one of those two missing requirements was something after telekenisis or ring bind, I'd be voting for them, but as it stands, it seems most likely to look to the shooter tree.
Burst enhances both Flare and Rust shooter, unlocking two things for the price of one.

After we pick burst, unless a choice required for Ragnarok is revealed, I'll probably support Ring Bind or Telekinesis, but right now I want burst.

That's just the Book of Darkness's energy leaking out into the environment.

It has the linker core equivalent of 666 weak mages inside(with an A rank being about 20 worth), so that's a shitload of power.

[X] Burst

This along with ring-bind are spells that have been under debate for a long time. Both are long over due. Won't need ring-bind unless we go against other mages for some reason, and I don't see that happening in the couple next updates.

[X] Ring Bind

It's a travesty that we still don't have this staple.

(and I really want to see if it cuts the type of parahuman that is brought into recursion fields off from their power, since it seems like mages can't cast when bound)

Just read through the quest.
Not for the current moment - by could we make it the Goal to cure Danny? I mean, we were told by Miss Militia there are very few parahuman capable of curing brain damage (and not doing this cause of moral standpoint). Now we also know about full Panacea capabilities from Vista ( actually, Amy could be exactly the one MM had in mind). Yes, it can be truly complicated - however, we know it's possible, and if no other option - Dad's life worth the effort. Or not ? :???:

Another question (may be asked before) - our long-distance teleportation ability is generally known, so why can't we use Spatial Translocation to teleport an enemy cape out of battle ? For example to a small uninhabited reef amidst a sea, so without high-level Mover rating he won't be able to get out of there, we could deal with mess without that guy and deal with him (alone or with ally's backup afterwards? Seems to me as good tactics in current gang war to separate enemy cape from his bunch and deal with them separately.

[x] - Telekinesis. We have enough various firepower and it could provide us stunts useful in current situation.

so why can't we use Spatial Translocation to teleport an enemy cape out of battle ?
This has been brought up many times over the course of the quest. The answer has every time been: "No".

Specifically because our teleport requires an unresisting target that is stationary for something like ten seconds. Any enemy who meets all those criteria is almost certainly unconscious and so teleporting them away is of limited use.

Not for the current moment - by could we make it the Goal to cure Danny?
I asked about that. Because Immortal Assimilation Engine now deems Danny a threat to Taylor, he won't do it.
. Now we also know about full Panacea capabilities from Vista ( actually, Amy could be exactly the one MM had in mind).
It was explained in-chapter why that's not happening. Now, there's looking up other healing capes in Worm... but that'd mean going to Toybox.

That's why I mentioned it as The Goal and really complicated thing. BTW Panacea was suspected as unintentionally mastering those whom she heals, but she still got permission to heal in death-life situation and Danny's current condition is seemingly hopeless vegetable state, could be considered as aforementioned life/death situation of Endbringer's battle injured cape. So, this route is about dealing with authorities and getting their approval and Panacea's consent to heal brain injure. Not a pleasant pastime, but again, it's Dad's life at stake. However if may also be done with examination of ostensibly Panacea's healing Master effects, and by denying them clearing her name and reputation, her life is harsh currently.

She doesn't do brains. Not can't, but won't, on principle.

Not to mention that Amy's precision is not really up to level of complexity and delicacy involved with brainwork.
By contrast, there's the Toybox cape Cranial, a Tinker specializing in Neurology.
