Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Ok, I think that scanning the Privateers is a must-take action this week, as we have no major issues to take care of personally. We can get the Protectorate's help with the weird note, and we can focus on other stuff after we find out if the Privateers have any mage candidates amongst their ranks.

The monsters are, potentially, the path to turning Noelle into a mage. It would probably be best if we deal with her anyway, but I think we can get all sorts of perks if we can get her on our side as well. So, I'm definitely in favor of that being one of our choices. As for the other one, we could scan Privateers, which could be incredibly helpful, start on this Secret Santa quest, run off with Danny, or hang out with someone else. The last time sensitive option we chose still let us progress along a path, so it's probably not a bad option.

Guys, Y'all are being stupid. NYC means Legend. NYC means word of our absurd Fuck You beam that we used to Annihilate the E88 getting to Legend. Other action is obviously scanning sesh.

[ :V ] Scan fucking everyone already

«Calamity Witch template named for identifier of mage whose genes and memories used as basis. Imperial edict from the Dark Queen herself in honor of military service and sacrifice.»
Dark Queen?
That doesn't quite match what we saw before, but for all we know our not!Moon Princess could have gotten Beryl'd.
You peel your shirt off before you see it. A two foot high statue of a woman stands on your desk, her dark body bent backwards and to the side to twist in a gentle upwards spiral. Behind her, a bird's wings flare outwards as though she were caught in mid-flight. For all the subject's total nakedness, this doesn't look erotic or perverted. It just looks old, like a replica of something from ancient Greece or Rome. You step closer, the shorter distance letting you make out the hooked talons on the woman's fingertips and the expression of murderous rage on her face. Exquisite detail for something carved out of black marble, but not quite your tastes.
That'd be a Fury, or Erinyes to you ancient greeks, unless I miss my guess.
Frankly, the image of a human woman with bird wings and feet gets used in a ton of ancient art, and can often be inconsistent. We've found pottery art of Harpies that match that description, but other artwork, not to mention much literature, emphasizes that they are all bird, but the head/face of a woman.
I feel like I've forgotten something… Oh, yeah. That. Since so many people asked for it…

ENDBRINGER FIGHT NEXT ARC
... OK SW, be straight with us. Can we get the hidden conditions for Ragnarok discovered and unlocked by the time of the attack?
Secret Santa – …Why is there a note in your bedroom addressed to your cape identity? Who gave it to you? Why did they leave it in your bedroom?! You need to tell somebody in the Protectorate about it, because this? This is not okay.
Yeah...
Someone with a penchant for Greco-Roman mythology and gives no fucks about the unwritten rules...
I suspect the Elite.
Hanging Out – Take a little time to yourself and spend some time with somebody/somebodies. Preferably doing something that doesn't involve burninating people. Write in the person, place, and thing.
Privateers, scan 'errebody.
I had been about to guess that the note was from Cauldron. And then I remembered that the actual members of Cauldron are presumed dead.
Well, we've got Alexandria and Eidolon. But they wouldn't do this.

Ixpellia's title was "the Dark Queen of Hades". I'm choosing to roll with "Hades" being a personal appellation while "Dark Queen" was the inherited title of the ruler of Galea.

Very good. Good enough for a training point, even.

If it is them, they're barking up the wrong tree imo.

Can you get at least one of them revealed by the end of the arc? Absolutely. Can you get all of them?

…If you pick the right activities and the right skills, yes. Yes, you can.

Woohoo! Since I can't pick a new spell with that, I'mma put that point into Dimensional Transfer.
...I'm going to regret saying that, aren't I*?

*Yes, yes, I am.
... what the fuck.
Just, what the fuck. Why would The Elite be interested in Taylor? Their thing is controlling the North American underworld and villainy, they can't possibly be trying to recruit Taylor, especially in such a flagrant manner... unless they have Knowledge that to almost anyone else in the world would be Outside Context.
They must have some recovered data from the TSAB ship debris!

Good to know.

We look forward to
meeting you in person,
Calamity Witch.
Okaaay.
Either we was visited by local (I mean Earth-Bet) villains who don't give a fuck about Rules and very very classy...
Or it's that pirates who attacked Agharti. Some kind of Galean loyalists, who want to make Galea great again through Lost Logia collecting?

Can we get the hidden conditions for Ragnarok discovered and unlocked by the time of the attack?
May I ask, what exactly you hope to accomplish by using Ragnarok against Endbringer?
In my understanding there would be only nuked city and thousands of pointlessly dead.

I'll probably vote for Secret Santa and Hanging out with Privateers to scan them and know more about their activities.

Collateral damage is its own reward.

I'm leaning towards getting Secret Santa done, although Gawking Like A Tourist is probably worthwhile too. Danny said they don't want a teenager around, but as I recall, most people believe Calamity Witch is around eighteen or twenty...

Would scanning the Privateers be a side action that we can do anyway or would we need to write it in as an activity with them for Hanging Out?

When it comes to the vote I think we should explicitly include Danny in the scanning of the privateers.

Depending on how scanning them goes in terms of effort/time/discomfort it involves we might be able to casually scan other people on various pretenses. Maybe.

Even if we are totally opposed to converting Danny, we should still include him in the scans, we lose nothing by scanning him.

"I never asked for this."
I'm guessing people were complaining that they hadn't grabbed Solar Wrath right before Ziz attacked, because they didn't know an Endbringer fight was incoming.

Personally... I'd say Endbringer warnings should be given out a chapter or two before, or whatever the equivalent of a week or two of in-quest time.

In Worm canon, Endbringers attack every few months, there's something like a 2 week window when their attack is expected each time, with all the tech and stuff giving only a few hours warning at best.

That said, knowing about it his far in advance does mean we have to consider our votes with it in mind.

I'm personally wondering if we'll be able to get the mages on our side by the time the attack happens.

Hmmm...
Gawking Like a Tourist – The people your dad is going to meet don't want you around? Tough luck. Demand to tag along and have some father-daughter time.
We missed our chance to get Legend's eye by blasting Ziz, but now we've cast it where the report WILL get to him, AND we have an option to go to his town.

Does anyone not think this is one of the requirements for Ragnarok?

Also, we might run into Lily, aka one of the only people that was a legitimate threat to Zion (Did he even bother to dodge any attacks but hers and some of Eidolon's?), let alone the Endbringers.

I can think of a few possibilities to avoid that.

Our Recursion Field would remove the collateral damage aspect. Also, possibily give us another dimensional vector from which to attack the Endbringer's multi-dimensional body from. With enough notice of the attack, we might even manage to get the field setup without dragging most of the defender's with us (we just need to get a...50.27 square mile area... cleared of unwanted parahumans... OK, a 4 mile radius makes a BIG circle, wow).

Alternately, that cape that saved us from being crushed by pulling us into another dimension where we saw Ziz as an eyeball tree... Attack the Endbringer from THAT dimension, since we're obviously closer to their dimensional core, and thus can deal more damage, from there (though the Endbringer may be stronger in there as well...).

How talking with Legend can help us cast Ragnarok? o_O

That can be useful, yes, if we'll find out IC that her power is so absolute.

Our Recursion Field would remove the collateral damage aspect.
We cannot use Recursion field against Endbringer. Its mass is too big.

I second Shaseyu's confusion as to how that'd be a requirement.

We might also get on with testing out dimension crossing if we ever plan on helping with Luntcher.

Needs to be a write-in for Hanging Out.

I normally don't jump in for stuff like this, but what? I explicitly said the requirements are locked because you don't have the necessary spells.

Technically, it is possible to move an Endbringer into a Recursion field. You just need four mages/Guardian Beasts casting it at the same time with the plan being to pull it into the same field.

If you perform an action expressly to scan somebody, like the Privateers, I will let those three days be part of that time slot should you desire to go ahead and install a template into somebody. It will be a vote at the end of that segment, a part a and part b.

Seems like Ragnarök is the ultimate spell of the Flare skill tree (or at least the most destructive), so learning the other spells in the tree might be necessary in order to use it safely.
Not to mention that I'm really curious about that 'secret' related to the Flare spells, perhaps Taylor will learn of it if she goes after more flare spells :)
It might also explain why Telekinesis is a part of the skill tree (or did I miss an explanation?), which at first look seems like a thematically wonky inclusion.
