Maybe in the future. Anyone else want to take a crack at that one?
Actually, kinda took a shot of inspiration and cranked out a different omake, and this one made me want to give Missy some love (and possibly her next summons), so give my current XP to Missy and if this one is good enough, give her another one.
Training: Puppies!
Missy yawned as she fixed herself a bowl of cereal. It was the day after she and the other girls had been given their new devices, and she had been too hyped up (and leery of running into Miss Miltia) to go home, so she had asked Dragon to stay overnight and test out her new abilities. Losing her space warping was…odd. She still caught herself going to twist space to make hallways shorter or listen in on what Tim, Nostromo, and Firefly were talking about, but it was like trying to use a limb that didn't exist. Weird. Anyway, Spells! Blitz Action and Flight made her appreciate all the little tricks that Velocity and Dauntless had mentioned when their powersets had come up. Her Barrier Jacket was super cool and she had been toying around with different designs late into the night. Her summons though. Sigh. While it was super-cool she had this magic skill that only she could perform, her current form of it was…less than she had pictured. Pets had never been a thing in her life, what with her Wards work and her unstable family situation, and that was exactly what her summons appeared to be to her. She was certain that any normal civilian girl would be thrilled beyond measure to summon a group of puppies, but all Missy could see was another stark reminder of why she had quit the Wards in the first place. Shaking her head, Missy continued her breakfast. She had summoned the puppies a few times last night, and then again this morning and was letting them run around while she prepared for the day.
"Good morning, Missy." Cassiel said as she floated through the door.
"Morning Cassiel. Can I get you something?" Missy replied.
"No thank you. I actually needed to talk with you about something." Cassiel spoke while also glancing over her shoulder nervously.
"Oh? What about?" Before Cassiel could respond, a high-pitched cry became more audible from the hallway, eventually revealing the pack of puppies running past with the two lead puppies holding two ends of a tiny woman in their mouths.
"CASSIEL! THEY'VE LEARNED TO CLIMB!" Dragon wailed as she was dragged out of site. A group of the puppies halted at the door and began running toward Cassiel.
"If you could work on training your summons and getting them under control, Dragon and I would really appreciate it." Her statement finished, Cassiel darted straight up in the air, narrowly dodging Missy's stumble as she tried to rise to her feet and was tripped by a horde of puppies plowing into her feet. Two more puppies climbed her chair onto the table and knocked her bowl of cereal onto the floor in their attempts to jump at Cassiel, splashing Missy and the rest of the pups.
"Okay." Missy said, the puppies on her chest and surrounding her head frantically licking her face clean while the other two continued bouncing on the table. "Training."
-Combat
"Alright then. Come at me like you mean to kill me." Missy slid into her favoured combat stance, prepared to deal with the savage onslaught she expected. Instead, she got multiple distracted opponents, several tilted heads, a few puppies licking each other, and one curling up for a nap on the floor. "Uhh." Missy groaned as she loosened up. "Maybe I should look up some things."
-Housetraining
"This is mostly useless." Missy complained as she scrolled through an article on her phone. "My summons don't eat or poop, and I can dismiss them if they're causing a fuss. Arrgh!" She glared at a sleepy-looking puppy lying on it's back. "Why don't you come over here!?" The puppy's eyes glowed red, it immediately rolled over and dashed over to rest it's paws on her leg, tail wagging behind it. Missy stared down at it, and then realized that the last part of her statement had felt like when she was talking to Calico Laughing. "Roll Over?" She tried again. The puppy began rolling around back and forth in front of her just like she had pictured. "Okay." Missy leaned down, stopping the puppy's roll with a belly rub, "I can work with this."
-Commands
"Three left, three right." Missy commanded, having gotten down silent mental commands quickly. The six puppies running split around the table as she had commanded, then regrouped on the other side. "Pyramid." She directed this thought at a group of five, who began organizing themselves into a doggie pyramid. "Backflip." Two more puppies began leaping and flipping in the air. As she idly scratched the ears of the final puppy that was dozing in her lap, she let out a cackle. Being a Master was fun!
-Combat (revisited)
As Missy took her stance, she looked over at her pack. Both Tim and Perfect Storm had cautioned her that summons of this level were not suitable for direct combat, but she was hoping she could figure out a workaround. Capes leveraged powers not suited for combat all the time, why couldn't she do it here? "Attack." She ordered, noting that with their eyes glowing red, they'd be quite intimidating in a dark place. The pack surged towards her, attempting to bowl her over like they had that morning, but since she could see it coming, it was easy to brace and reposition her legs so the puppies instead bounced off. The puppies then attempted to bite her, but their teeth weren't large or sharp, so they only formed grips on her pants that were fairly easy to dislodge. Her spirits sinking, she watched as some tried to climb up her pants only to tumble backwards when she moved and sprawl out on the floor. This didn't bode well.
-Scouting
Looking at the floating holographic screen before her, Missy felt a bit better. Yes, combat had been a wash, but this was what her summons were supposed to be used for. The screen was split between several viewpoints, all showing different parts of the factory. Missy had commanded the puppies to "find the fairies, try not to be seen," and set them off, and so far it was going well. They stuck to the walls, hid underneath and behind viable objects, detected Tim or his Beasts several times with their senses and avoided them, and generally doing a great job of reconnaissance. Spotting a white blur on one screen, she zoomed in on it to show Dragon and Cassiel floating over the fridge in the break room. Mentally making the puppy wave a paw at them, she ordered it to sit and wait and commanded the rest of the pack to join her in the break room. As she entered, her pack obediently following behind, Dragon and Cassiel floated over. "Well done Missy. You've done a great job getting a handle on your summons." Dragon said, pleased that there would likely be no more incidents with the puppies.
-Play
Fourteen sets of eyes moved in unison, tracking a round yellow object in the hands of their mistress. Missy laughed, waving the tennis ball before her slowly. "Do you guys want this?" she questioned, watching the puppies squirm and whine, some sinking down as if to pounce but none moving from their spots. "Well, go on. Fetch!" She shouted as she hurled the ball at the far wall. The puppies rushed after it; some tripping over their own paws with their enthusiasm, yipping with joy. Missy laughed as they wrestled and jostled and bounced the ball around the floor. Her laughter choked off when Tim, his eyes focused on a tablet, oblivious walked into the room as the ball rolled towards him. "Tim! Watch…" was all Missy got out before his foot landed atop the ball and transformed a simple step into a flailing fall. As Tim hit the ground and the ball shot out into the hallway, the puppies excitedly chased it, trampling over Tim's body in the process. Missy ran over and helped him to his feet. "Are you okay?"
"Mm' fine." He said, stumbling over to a chair. "Just stunned. Maybe you can go round up your summons?" Missy nodded and turned to leave when a thunderous crash sounded that shook the ground. A horrifying, primal screech sounded, and Missy froze in place. Her pack of puppies tore past the door, followed swiftly by a giant bipedal lizard whose head was scraping the ceiling and continuous screamed bloody murder as it chased after the summons.
Dragon floated into the room, her face locked in a strained smile. "I think it's time you went home Missy." She gritted out through the smile and crashes and screams continued through the building. "And please unsummon your creatures immediately." Missy gulped and did exactly that, the restrained calm in Dragon's voice more terrifying than any villain she had faced.
