Overview:
A highly bellicose hive world, Boshin was at the onset of the Great Crusade led by a line of military governors, who unified the planet after the planet broke into warring factions during the Age of Strife. When an Imperial Expeditionary Fleet reached Boshin, the military governor at the time rejected integration against the Imperium, but the Iterators accompanying the fleet convinced most of the minor martial nobility, who had been steadily sidelined in the previous years, to stage a revolt against the military governor, which was eventually successful thanks to Imperial support. Once the new government was instated, the Imperium destroyed the martial nobility after a short uprising. During the Horus Heresy, the invading Iron Warriors never landed on the planet, but Boshinese Army regiments were butchered by Iron Warriors on multiple fronts.
As a reward for their loyalty, Imperial Authorities awarded the planet with the foundation of a Schola Progenium, and economic incentives which resulted in a rapid expansion of Boshin´s industrial output and population levels. As such, the amount of raw materials and foodstuffs necessary to fuel and sustain this growth became a priority for the planetary goverment. Thanks to extensive lobbying and favor-trading with the Lord Sector court and Imperial Guard Sector Command, Boshinese trade guilds were given extensive liberties and privileges when it came to making one-sided agreements with nearby Agri-Worlds and Mining Worlds, with explicite permission to deploy Boshinese Rikogun´s to enforce them. These privileges were later revoked by later Lord Sector, but the planets involved suffered harshly under the Boshinese boot, and they hold rabid hatred for the people of those planets.
In modern times, while Boshinese industry is still well-developed, the main export for the Tithe is in the form of military personnel. This personnel belongs to either the Boshinese Rikoguns, the local regiment of the Imperial Guard, servicemen and officers for the Imperial Navy and Commissars and Stormtroopers from their Schola Progenium.
Trivia:
-Reputation of the Boshinese in the various branches of the Imperial Military is mixed. The Imperial Guard appreciates the Rikogun´s morale and dedication, but have poor opinion of the strategic skill of their officers. The Boshinese serving in the Navy are constantly mocked and dismissed by Lezoan and Gadirans. The Commissariat and the Inquisition both give glowing praise to the graduates of the Schola Progenium.
-The Schola Progenium of Rikogun used to supply Novitiates to the Order of the Thorned Spear, but in early M41 they stopped due to unknown reasons.
-Discipline in the Rikoguns is harsh even by Imperial Guard standards, and Boshinese Commissars have a reputation for vicious corporal punishments.
