Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Well, I think after this campaign some general recruitment and recovery is in order. Maybe we can leave a squad or two to help keep things "stable" for the Sector Lord.

Each Battle Brother shall receive a lovely gift basket and a 50 throne gift card useable at participating Grox Burger™ locations.
Grigori: "50 thrones? That barely reaches us for the appetizer!
Gallienus: Don´t worry, I have a plan.

15 minutes later.
Gallienus: ...so what do you think Chapter Master?
Severus, reaching for the bottle of gorionik za usta: No, Gallienus, we´re not taking an sponsorship for Grox Burger to get discounts.

They support local businesses only, not inter-sector chains like that. It helps that that the tax income from Luctusian booze exports are probably a significant contributor to their continued operation :V

Is it just me or is The Palatine´s survival suspicious? This is how genestealers operate, they isolate and infect their targets leaving one survior who will be tired but alive even when all their fellows died.

She was shown still fighting when encountered. And the last of her sisters was killed literal moments before based on the way her corpse sailed out if the room she was found in.

Not saying its impossible, just very unlikely.

1)Given that our Marines were nearly hit by corpse of one of Riona's subordinates, they might planned this, but were "interrupted" "before anything happened"

2) Riona and her subordinates were fighting against Aberrants, who are "too dumb" to do "tricks" like that

It takes two seconds for the implantation to happen, all the genestealer needs to do to is get behind her and punch thru her power armor. Which it can do. So whats to say that the genestealer didnt infect her first and then killed the other sister?

What killed the woman that was throw at the marines? Because it was capable of going straight through her power armor and body while creating a fist size hole. It could have been The Kellermorph but it could also have been one or two genestealers. Given the cults supply situation and the aberants were armed with rebarbs, aka blut weapons then the wound doesnt make sense. Now as i said, could be the Kellermorph but he scored zero succeses on his roll so its unlikely.

When was the last time we saw a genestealer or one of their rolls?

Genestealer infection doesn't just happen via any biological contact, it specifically has to be either through the Genestealer's Kiss, which is an easily interrupted process, or through sex with an infected human or a hybrid, which obviously didn't happen. Anything else would require a Biophagus to concoct something specially designed to be spread via blood contact or injection, and their presence in a direct fight would be pretty easily detected. And even then, such effects would take time to gestate.

As for what killed the Sister, pretty obviously an Aberrant. Their supply situation is bad, but it's not so bad that they wouldn't have access to a heavy and sharp piece of metal which, with their unnatural strength, they're able to use to punch through Sororitas power armor.

Never said any biolagical contact, said that they needed to penetraite the armor. Which a genestealers can do, both with their claws and with their ovipositor.

Sorry but I dont think its pretty obvious that an piece of sharpend rebar can pierce ceremite even if its wielder is super strong.

I think the possibility of genestealers and infection is a reasonable suspicion because it fits their m.o and we know that they are on the battlefield. We just dont know where they are.

No, because penetrating armor in the general sense doesn't cut it. As I said, the Genestealer needs to either get its ovipositor down the target's throat or get them to have sex with someone already turned.

You keep bringing up sharpened rebar, but even in this state the Aberrants should still have their giant power hammers, even if most of their power fields are weaker or even no longer functioning.

While, yes, Genestealer infection is possible, I highly doubt that it happened in this case specifically. It also wouldn't make as much sense to target Riona considering she would certainly be put through genetic screening after the campaign. If they were to infect anyone, civilians would be the best bet, since there's too many for them all to be checked up on.

You know I think an issue here is that the both of us are using diffrent sorces for how genestealers infect people. Can I ask which source you are using because i am using the cain books, were the genestealers can just deposit their genetic material in victime aslong as the ovipositor can get inside the body not just by mouth to mouth.

If you look at the uppdaterad armament list for the abberants it just says rebar blocks, I said that sounds like a blunt tool which might be insufficent to cause the type of wound described on the sororitas.

I mean, can we be sure they will do the genetic check? She is a high ranking sister, wouldnt there be protests and people being mad about her being suspected of taint? If there is a meantion of her being tested and found not infected i will ofcourse admit to overreading update, but it cannot hurt to keep an eye on her for now.

In these cases, "Genestealers" refers to Genestealers as subspecies of Tyranids (i.e. "Purestrains"), not Genestealer Cultists as whole.

Edit: Btw, what do you think about "burning favour" (😉) with Blazing Wardens, to commision some "prothetic arm" for our "currently one-armed" Chapter Champion?

Wait, just to clarify every time I have said Genestealer i have meant the purestrains not the cultists. Your statement makes me a bit confused, have you been talking about cultists when you say genestealers?

No, I thought that you made that mistake, because Palatine Riona's only opponents were Aberrants, when squad of Mist Shrikes found her.

Even if there was "anything else" in that room, "opportunity window" between Riona being "sole survivor" and our Marines entering the room, would be too short for Genestealer to be able to exploit that (our Marines would either "catch it mid-act" or even "mid-running towards Riona")

I disagree about them not having The time to act but i guess we will see in the future what happens. Its been fun talking with both you and Nicholas 😀

Also our chapter champion is about to end up in a dreadnought.

At least Palatine Riona is alive. I like her. We like her. She exudes a cheerful madness (flashback to Charger episode of Tex talks Battletech)
We really need to recruit from this planet fast. And build a new dreadnought frame. We have another Prophet if I am not mistaken

Yeah Falce, we still have another Dreadnought Frame, but Spatha might be taking that if we can at least save his life.

I wonder what the next upgrade for the visions cure is going to be? I'm guessing either guaranteeing our brothers with the Prophet trait survive being turned into dreadnaughts or an increased life expectancy.

On another note, hey @ThunderOwl when you put our fallen notables in the fallen notables tab can you keep their prior history and personality quotes there with them? I enjoy them and I'd rather not see them deleted forever just because the brother died. Heck I'm pretty sure Quintus Sertorius quotes are already gone even though he was just a dreadnaught. That is until recently.
