I just started reading a shape of a nightmare to come ie the dark fic of Warhammer 40k and i must say: that i was not prepared for it.

awesome...simply put, I want us to be in charge of the forces of "order"....in essence they do as we say, and as long as they don't mess with us or our flocks they can be left be...

of course Morr would butt heads with us occasionally...and as long as we don't antagonize the dwarves we should be good...hell they might appreciate someone who can ACTUALLY build things right unlike Umgi do! (well...being undead will be a problem, but were going into vampiric god-hood now! So it should be good!)

also a question...do blood knights HAVE to drink the entire dragon's corpse in order to not need to drink blood anymore? is there a way we can ritualize it by bonding with a dragon and gaining its trust and thus allowing the vampire to have a cup of its blood?

lots of things to do, also when we conquer bretonnia via diplomacy, intrigue, or martial might...don't care, but I do want the Lady to know...don't fuck with us...and also she REALLY limited herself with the quality stuff, considering the elven goddess could have gotten a entire nation as her flock.

More worship for us any rate. also we SHOULD limit Vampires around, if only to make sure we don't cause issues in the long run, also blood banks will be needed, with volunteers to offer to have their blood drawn.

as it is, we should also look to give that blade back to the high elves, get some NICE diplomatic relationship going...and maybe offer a way to fuck over the dark elves a bit if we can...would be hilarious if that faction completely collapsed in on itself...right?

would mean the elves would owe us BIG time...and if we "Happen" to reinforce the vortex a bit? Get their archmagi off from that duty and help clear out all the nastiest beasties on their little island in return for a few dark dragon eggs? I wouldn't mind helping them...curry favor's with major races, get allies to make sure others don't try shit, strengthen them and they will return that favor with gutso...

of course dwarf skeletons will be off limits and their treasures...don't want to have grudges you see? But hey, if we manage to wage war against the skaven...that alone would be a boon. Or kill off the chaos dwarves which should weaken chaos's efforts in the long run (plus get access to the dragon boneyard...provided we don't piss them all off).

Nah they don't need to drink the entire corpse blood doesn't stop them to do it, also the fact that the vampires don't know much about this process and think this is what they need to do.

Strygos Empire rules apply. Only we don't invite in other vampires ever unless it's the Ushoran line

We probably want to absorb the Strigany people to grant them land and protection.

The various dukedoms of Bretonnia, though, the mystic is ill regarded. To the people of Bretonnia, a Strigany mystic is no different than a witch. Should a mystic reveal any sort of perceived supernatural ability, such as fortune telling, retribution is sure to be swift and absolute. Mystics in Bretonnia seeking survival should find a noble patron for protection.

Looking at the options and the pacing, we are going to be WWI tech at least by turn 20...

Gonna work on the next update, before l finish it here you have a preview:

"The civil war continues to rage between the two dukedoms of Borderlaux and Aquitaine, thousands have already perished on both sides and thousands more will die as the conflict rages on"

well at best for the times is to get rifling with bayonet attachments (rather then plug bayonets), plus rifling is awesome for accuracy as well.

if we can figure out how to add magic to our weaponry (aka the black-powder weapons), then we can REALLY be force multipliers...also with all the fighting going on, I'm looking forward to going to old battlefields and getting the corpses up and running, as long as we don't pull the spirits from the after-life (morrs garden) we should be good. Plus with the way we get more troops and people...we could put a policy of "volunteering" your body for the cause once you expire.

of course, making sure our undead don't really go out of their way for making the lives of our citizens miserable would benefit us...lets show our insane cousins and bloodline holders how to PROPERLY run a county/nation...and hey if the King of Bretonnia gets himself killed along with most of the nobles...that definitely benefits us in taking over the nation, of course kicking the Fae out would be good for us, as well as making sure the elves of the wild know NOT TO MESS WITH US!!!

sure getting a few jade wizards along would definitely help us with logging efforts, as long as we replenish the soil and such. As well as the fact we go out of our way to make sure everyone knows not to mess with our version of Bretonnia...maybe we can call it Transylvania once we take it over for LOLZ? Start getting the empire under one banner of the most suitable (and of course malleable to our cause) "emperor", while we ask for elector-countship...or maybe just sign a peace treaty with the empire since they are generally in the way of most everchosen and Orc WWWAAAGGGHHH's.

get the empire strong enough to deal with those threats from the bottom up, and then keep an eye on the political arena to make sure they don't backstab us...of course with how many dwali forts are in the mountains we could make overturns to the dwarves to help reclaim their lost holds in return for beneficial trading practices...and since its either orcs or skaven...we can drown both of them into oblivion under the weight of skeletons and zombies!

Not to mention begin extermination campaigns against the beastmen and of course set up contingencies to prevent livestock, people, and other issues from becoming beastmen under morrsleib (the chaos moon).

I like how nobody noticed the invisible text l left in the update.
Found them:

Corruption Resistance: 1,890
Although should we be worried or just take it in stride?

the one after the magical blade is cannot be he should have been dead not sure who that is referencing. the corruption resistance I assume is our agents roll to save vs corruption.

I wonder...

@Alucard vampiry :

1. Would it be possible to recruit a veteran Blood Dragon and have them train us to be better in Martial and Combat? I mean, they are terrifyingly powerful murder machines on par with Grail Knights, mining their experience would be invaluable.
1a. Can we possibly bribe Blood Dragons by purchasing better equipment for them, like a Gromril sword or something?

2. Can we commission custom Gromril plate armor from the Dwarfs? Or runed Gromril plate armor? How much would that cost, is possible?

3. Do the Dawi-Zharr (Chaos Dwarves) make anything from their Dwarf ancestry, or is literally everything Chaos- or daemon-imbued?
3a. Do Chaos Dwarves remember anything of making runes?
3b. If they do, could we commission custom Gromril armor, weapons, or gear from the Chaos Dwarves?

I'm just trying to figure out how to get us the highest quality equipment and training possible.

4. Can we launch intelligence raids into Skaven territory and steal samples of their technology, like we did the Brettonians and Imperials?
4a. If so, can we target specific Skaven Clans, or would it be random dice rolls bc we don't have that accurate intel on Skaven anything?

5. Looking in the wiki, Araby has great architects and engineers, as to Tilea and Estalia. Can we possibly pay engineers or architects from those lands to come to Mousillon and train Mousillon apprentices in their arts?
5a. In a similar manner, can we convince Estalian smiths to come over and teach us the secrets of Estalian steel, which is better than Brettonian or Imperial but not quite as good as Dwarfs?

6. Can we build docks, harbors, and ports, and get our own Mousillon Navy going?
6a. If we do so, would Brettonia be okay with us building naval ships with their cannons onboard? That would allow us to circumvent the 'no gunpowder' thing the Brettonians have, while allowing us to build cannons with a veneer of legitimacy.
6b. Assuming we can do the above, can we hire Imperial shipwrights to teach Mousillon shipwrights? And would they be okay with us building Great Ships, or learning aat least how to build them? Because I'm envisioning us mixing the best features of Great Ships and Brettonian galleons and developing some really kickass ships of the line, which would be a great boon to us establishing overseas trade networks.

7. With establishing naval supremacy in mind...would it be possible for Mousillon's undead and future navy to invade and conquer Sartossa? Gets rid of a major source of pirates, lots of loot tech and resources, plus allows us to establish a fortress/naval base there extending our maritime reach.

1. Veteran blood knights are very hard to find because they do not want to be found, they usually live in self isolation because now they now live the trope: And Then What they literally do not know what to do anymore now that they accomplished their lineage goal to defeat a dragon and drink its blood, they decided to live in self isolation desperately attempting to find a purpose, so yes if you could find them you could try to persuade them into training you.
1a. The elements of the blood dragons in the old world are right now fighting alongside the bulk of the von carstein lineage against the empires, as for bribing them all they really want is glorious battle if you have a glorious battlefield they can fight in they will fight for you.

2. Gromril is supposed to be really, really, really, really, rare and finding gromril means finding warpstone in some cases which means there will be skaven somewhere, gromril is commonly fielded in a military manner by only dwarves other races may only get gromril armor or weapons in very rare cases, in fact you can count all of the fashioned weapon and armor made of gromril to other races that aren't dwarves in just one hand. You have to do something very impressive to the dwarves so they would make one for you.

3. Literally everything they do is somehow infused with various type of daemons, they forsake all of their ancestry their weapons, armor, architecture and many other things are either daemon bounded or so infused with chaotic corruption that they look like they are bounded with daemons.
3a. They do, but their runes are daemonic in nature.
3b. See 3 and 3a for explanation why that is a bad idea.

4. In-universe you don't even know of their existence yet so no, that option may appear if the discover them.
4a. The second option, even if you discover them in-universe you would not know of the multiple clans composing their society.

5. The option will appear when you make your appearance to the world.
5a. Maybe it would depend on the rolls.

6. Now that aren't no more rampant undead and dark beasts, sure you can do that.
6a. I am actually suprised you think they won't invade Mousillon, simply because to them the ideals you represent are total anathema to their ideals.
6b. There will be actions to steal navy technology of both the fractured empire and brettonia, why i didn't do that before ? Simple to stall you all from getting good naval technology on early game.

7. It would be possible but it would be highly difficult.
the one after the magical blade is cannot be he should have been dead not sure who that is referencing.
I will give a hint on that: the blade belongs to the first Phoenix king Aenarion and he should be dead.

Hmm...

@Alucard vampiry : Would the Dwarves be interested in us offering the use of our undead to help them with Skaven or Ork problems? Because that's a cause that could generate a LOT of goodwill with them if done properly/delicately enough. They lose a problem, and we gain more bodies to revive/use for parts plus whatever we ask for by way of commissioned equipment.

Hmm...being an undead mercenary against the Evil factions would be a really cool thing to do, and we certainly have the manpower for it.

1. That will generate a amount of good will with them if done properly

2. It would only work if the mercenary band was not comprised entirely of undead, of course there will be some who accept the contract even if the fighting force of the mercenary band is entirely comprised of undead, this is still warhammer after all.

Can we help the empire or is it impossible? (we are a vampire and one von Carstein)
You can, but in-universe you don't have reason (yet) to do so and likely never will, konrad will make them win you just have to wait it out as his paranoia and being unpleasant towards his followers will finally get the better of him and make him lose the war.

Turn 9 Rumor Mill
Brettonia:

- Civil War Continues: The civil war continues to rage between the two dukedoms of Borderlaux and Aquitaine, thousands have already perished on both sides and thousands more will die as the conflict rages on.

- Black Orcs: The orcs gathering who was ravaging the dukedom of Quenelles revealed a new hidden, black orcs. Bigger, stronger and smarter than their normal brethren they now lead entire warbands in strategic assaults.

- Heart of Darkness: The castle of Lyonesse who was taken from its rightful rulers by the dreaded servants of chaos gods, has seen better days, as reports range that the chaotic corruption is starting to cling to the castle transforming it into something else, it is very likely that the castle will be razed to the ground and the island it resides be forbidden for all if it is recaptured.

- Errantry Victory: A series of major victories happen in the war against the beastmen, but it did not last long as beastmen shamans are making appearances and exterminating whole groups with their dark magic, but these long sought victories managed to raise morale among the noble section of the errantry, the same could never be said to the peasants or 'men at arms'.

Empires' of Man:

- Wolf fights Bat: The Wolf emperor Siegfried lll in an event that many believe either to be foolish, brave, or foolishly brave engaged the main vampiric leader of the vampire army Konrad Von Carstein, he surprisingly lived and some sources say that he managed to inflict such a wound upon the immortal that it would take years to properly heal even for a vampire.

- Stirland pulls back: The stirland emperor has decided to pull back his military forces currently in the war against the vampires, his motives are unknown but there are certainly a great degree of anger aimed towards the emperor.
