Interlude: The Great Game Part 2

[X]The Trail of Guns and Bankers: You have an inkling of an idea that the group who sold you guns is at least partially based in the city. Too many things add up for you to not try and snoop around.
---------------------------------

The bank was less a bank and more of an accounting office with only a few… workers in it. It was a small building with lots of papers, files. It was like an office that was not really anything but a workplace.

Yet every moment you were in there, you could feel the eyes watching you. Studying you… or worse yet, realizing why you were here. It was a strange thing to feel… being watched without a reason why. Now it was not like a scout or a supporter. You did not know the reason why they watched, why they wanted to do anything… except that their eyes were on you. They wanted you to be among their sights.

And you were pray.

The leader, or at least whom you assumed was the leader, was quietly smoking on a pipe, looking out the window towards the palace, where the conference was taking place. "A marvelous spectacle don't you see? The great powers of Europe quietly deciding how they will manage to do a single thing, and in that end, lead the discussion down the road for a completely different thing as well. How each diplomat and king and even that husband of yours seems to think they can outsmart one another." He turned around. "So tell me, Empress, do you agree?"

You almost drew your pistol then and there, his unnerving stare made you feel completely at his mercy, and you thought to take it back by force. But something deep in your mind told you that this was not going to be a physical battle, no… this would be far more… intellectual. "You must think highly of them if they have any ideas of their nation's interests."

A smile rose. It was as unnerving as the frown. "Perhaps, but that is the problem. A Nation does not have an interest… not a unified nation. There are groups that have them. The farmers pray for peace, good grain prices, land, infrastructure, just as the navy man or the army man requests for their budgets and ideas. You should know, as the Inspector General of the Army?"

You walked forward, trying to gain some type of advantage. "And what interests would you think I have?"

That allowed a laugh. "You are a fickle being, guided by luck, circumstance, and availability. You believe in nothing because, unlike your fellows who truly believe in what they believe, and will die for their causes... you understand what is convenient to make sure you are powerful and alive. Your sail is that of a revolution, yet your heart is thrown to a man who is not revolutionary. Your husband is a tyrant, your two adopted children a potential backup in case you need to secure your own avenue of power, and to save yourself if your husband were to lose. You are nothing more than a parasite that has leeched onto something that you cannot comprehend."

You frowned. "Truly? Is that it?"

You were… not angry, no, you were far beyond that. He seemed to be operating on incomplete information…

But he also revealed something.

He was not truly… the man in charge. "You know when people talk to me, they try to make themselves out to be smarter than me, but you are so dreadfully enthralled by stories that you should know that none of them are true. A true leader would see the falsehoods immediately, and anyone who tries to attack them based on lies, truly either wishes to forget something or wishes to make an enemy."

"That is enough Robert. I think the Madam is quite through with the charade." A voice from behind entered your ears. "Especially one so horribly and quickly put together."

You turned around to see one of the accountants, one of the men you saw working, standing before you. He was… young, thought you imagined that he was closer to Talleyrand's age, and he was very well dressed. Gold was on his fingers, rings… and jewels.

"Amschel von Rothschild." The man stated, as he walked forward, and kissed your hand. "I apologize for my compatriot, but one cannot be too careful, and I wanted to see if you were as bright as the reports say you are." He smiled as the men exchanged places, and gold changed hands. "And do not worry, I will not be acting through an intimidatory. I have no wish to sour this relationship any more than it already has."

"And deceptions are needed because?" You asked.

"I'm a jew. Most of your people cannot stand my people. Even when I am possibly one of the most powerful men in Europe?"

You raised an eyebrow. "Truly?"

He stifled a chuckle. "And you still believe you are not the most powerful woman on Earth?" He sat down. "I had men look at your designs and the factories you invested in… before that dammed man you place in charge arrested them for espionage."

That made you raise an eyebrow. Matteo hadn't written anything to you about any espionage. You would have heard. But you tried your best to hide your surprise. "Tell me then, what interest do you have with me?"

A chuckle escaped the man's lips. "Understanding. Perhaps." He said. "I do not understand you, as much as I want to. World Economics and nations are one thing. But a truly remarkable woman? Now that is something extraordinary."

"I'm pretty sure you know a lot about me?" You replied, not feeling amused. "So why bother?"

"Perhaps, but I believe that one's entire outlook can change with the right words… the right people. Even the right ideas?" Amschel then took off one of his rings. "Tell me, do you know anything about where the British money came from, how they managed to finance so many nations after such a disastrous year in their markets, and the scares they have suffered since then?"

You raised an eyebrow. "No. I presumed they had raised taxes, and otherwise tried to continue with their trade surplus?"

Shortsighted, perhaps, but it was also not far from the truth. "No." He replied. "They borrowed a significant amount of money from banks across Europe, and the creditors believe that it was a surefire way to retrieve their money. They have lost and are in an increasing amount of debt. National prestige is low due to Americans stealing their people and property back, and Spanish ships sailing the Caribbean again."

"Do you know what that means?" He asked.

"No." You replied.

"There is a significant amount of money at stake in these wars." He replied. "And some would say that… France achieving victory, when not in debt to creditors, or men like me would upset the balance of… everything."

"What, you wish for my husband and my nation to just… die, to lose and risk everything that made France slide itself away from old regimes?" You asked.

"Heavens no," he replied. "But I have read some of your husband's new banking laws he has created… and it puts quite a damper on… world financial security?"

You raised an eyebrow. "I don't understand."

"Of course you do not. I can scarcely say I understand it at all. But I am not some… Jew who merely profits off of the misery of others, nor do I have some latent conspiracy-like Robespierre does… or had. I am merely a businessman, wishing to see a return on my investment."

The name set you off. "Where is he?"

"Robespierre?" he smiled as if he caught you in the bait. "He's still in the city… I can give you an exact location if you wish? For a price?"

"And what is your price?" You asked.

A frown rose… "Good heavens, you must think me a fool for not demanding something in return? Not like those cannons, no, I made my profits from it must greatly."

He handed over a contract. "Matteo Severin… replaced, with a man of my choosing. And I wish for rights to invest in your enterprises. Whatever they are."

You frowned. "How-"

"I am not going to steal from you if you must be so afraid and ask… I merely wish to shore up my investments, diversify my assets so to speak. You are most lucky and must talented in the realm of invention, I would be a fool to not consider you a safe investment."

"Why do you ask for Severin gone?" You asked. "Would you have me kill him?"

"I despise men who have no price. I cannot buy him, and he is far too hard to kill."

"You tried to kill him?"

"My father did," He stated bluntly. "it was a long time ago, a different time. When that blasted swede had refused to take an offer that was far better than he deserved… and he ran to France to play soldier." He hummed. "I never knew what drove a man to be so… uncurroptable. So simple in his life."

"What did he offer him?" you asked, curiosity in your voice.

He frowned. "I've said too much… as I said, a different time, with different men."

The pause and silence before the question that came next was deafening. "Do you accept my proposal?" He asked.
--------------------------------------------

Do you accept:

[]Yes: Matteo is a good man and true, but the opportunity here is something that should never be squandered. You would not let Robespierre escape again.

[]No: Something about all this felt off. Especially because all this… hinged upon one man. What did Matteo do to earn this kind of ire… and why were they so insistent on being allowed to join your investments. That was a price too high… you worked far too hard on all this to be left up to another person. Not even Robespierre was worth that.

AN: Enjoy....

Lets just say I had far to much fun writing this, and planting the seeds for... shit to go down.

Interlude: The Great Game Finale: A Stroke of Luck
Interlude: The Great Game Finale: A Stroke of Luck

You could only balk at the madness of this man, as he had just asked you to play with a man's life, a life that had shown nothing but loyalty and respect, a man who is helping to make so many wealthy and France secure in its resources.

"No." You stated with authority, causing the man who had seemed so secure in something, his own power and wealth, and the ability to make someone agree with his motives, with prices that a man would never refuse.

The banker, clearly confused as the smile vanished, was replaced with a frown, and a raised eyebrow. "Excuse me?" His voice went from a controlled, rhythmic tone, to one of a confused child.

"I think you heard me quite clearly say no." You replied. "Are you so daft that you do not understand the concept of no?" You were angry, or frustrated, you didn't know what to feel for a man who asked you to betray one of your own.

You had been taught better, by father, by mother, by Brian, by your men, and certainly by those who placed the same trust in you.

To play politics to gain an advantage would be what an Empress would do, what someone from the old Regime would do.

You were not a member of the old regime, you were a child of the Revolution. A Child of the People.

A woman who valued above all things: Those loyal to France and to you. You paid that loyalty back in kind, even when it was not the politically expedient or politically expedient thing to do.

Amschel did not know that about you, as he continued to frown. "This deal… can find their way to others that are far more willing to-"

You stopped him and you stood up, causing the man to realize how tall you were, and it intimidated him. "Any deal that requires me to betray one of my own, for my benefit. Without a clear benefit, which clearly has not laid out in a compelling enough manner to make me accept."

"I can explain in detail, and in writing, at a later date." He stated, trying to take command of the situation.

You refused. "Then you clearly don't understand me. Yo had your chance to convince me. And you have failed."

You turned around content with your answer. "Don't you walk away woman!" He shouted as he ran in front of you, forcing you to stop as he pointed a finger at your face, all sense of decorum gone, completely flabbergasted that you continued to refuse him. "Do you even know who I am?!"

You turned quickly, smashing his face with the but of your pistol, before putting the weapon back into its holster. "Do you have any idea who you are speaking to? What ask of me?" You asked as you pushed the man to the side, back against the wall. "I am not some woman who will bow to the whims of men who do not have my trust, who expect me to follow a choice that my husband would expect me to make to benefit himself."

You turned away. "You are a smart man, figure out what else I truly am, especially when I am being threatened."

And you walked away.

October 3rd, 1796

Rolled: 100+46=146
(POV Shift: Michel Nay)

You are brave, and at this very moment, that bravery was being put to the test. For the last few days, you had discovered that the man is known as Maximilian Robespierre, the former First Consul of France, and the man whom, by all accounts the most famous revolutionary alive…

Was drinking with you in a tavern, trying to convince you to murder Napoleon.

He did not recognize you with your red beard, and the shorter red hair you had cut for a new promotion that Emperor had teased, and he had requested that your hair grow to a shorter length by the time you returned to Paris. You had hoped to shave when you got to the city when you had a chance to go to a barber.

But now, your wish to be lazy and to wait for another day was now paying dividends.

"You are asking me to betray my oaths." You played coy, interested, but trying to hide your anger.

You had him exactly where you wanted him.

"To save France, from the vile men and women who have betrayed the revolution, who had broken their oaths to save the people of the world." He said as he leaned forward, offering another drink. "Nothing more."

You looked at the ale. "I wish for a more… gentlemanly drink, if possible?" You asked.

"This place does not serve a good enough coffee brew to truly be considered a gentleman's drink." He replied as you took it. "Do you believe in the Revolution, Colonel?"

The fake rank, the fake name… everything about this was fake…

But not you… and not this. "I do sir… and I know you are its greatest enemy!"

You then whistled, as your men dropped what they were doing and pointed weapons at him.

You were going to keep this quiet, but you were still going to enjoy every moment. Brian Auclair may have failed, but for you, Michel Nay…

You would succeed where the heroes of France did not.

"Maximiliun Robespierre. You are under Arrest for Treason, against the French Republic. And you have no idea how long I've wished to say those words!" You said as you drew your pistol and aimed it at his chest. "So you are going to be quiet, and we are going to walk."

"All the way back to France, or for a ditch?" He asked.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" You replied as you tied him up. "I want a twenty-four-hour watch, and a carriage now, we leave now."

"What about the Emperor?" A Sargent asked.

"He has his wife, I think he'll be okay." You replied. "And Talleyrand."
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Treaty was a success.

And what General Nay gave you… the icing on the cake.
-----------

Reward:

Maximilian Robespierre has been captured by the French military and has been transported to Paris for Trial or sentencing, depending on how you wish to procede.

The Treaty has been a success (Treaty will be posted in the Rumor mill coming soon!)

The Spain Policy for other nations will be revealed in the Rumor mill as well.

The Rothschilds grossly misunderstood your convictions and love of loyalty and will be reconsidering how to handle you, as you are too rich to just ignore and will be rethinking their strategies to get into your good graces.

11.6 Terror belli, decus pacis
11.6 Terror belli, decus pacis

October 30th, 1796,

Tuileries Palace, Paris France

The gathering in the throne room was… well, all things considering, quiet. The great minds of the French Army, the greatest men who have ever worn the Uniform, to have become legends in these previous wars.

Brian, your brother, the Emperor's hand, and the man who has been the truest figure of the French Revolution, even more than Napoleon and yourself… still stood ready, smiling, but otherwise remaining quiet, focusing more on the book in his hand, and the small talk to Kellerman, his former superior, now confidant and co-worker. They seemed at ease, despite the growing number of complaints from the old General, who was requesting to go towards a chair and take a seat.

Andre Massena, the semi disgraced, but nevertheless competent hero of Italy… whose name was not among the so-called wild bunch of the Army of Naples, was chatting with a brilliant air of majesty and decorum, that was without a hint of irony… despite the stories of his men looting the Italian countryside during the battles for food and loot. But here, amongst his peers, he was a brilliant man for sure. And while he was not entirely enthusiastic about so many men being here with him for this… unknown Ceremony… He was nonetheless happy to be a part of it.

Capable and Daring, Brave as ever… Michel Ney was boasting and laughing with the other men in attendance, with his smile and ever-present quality of grit, humor, and even stunning eyes that captured the greatest of detail. His retelling of the events that lead to Robespierre's capture was invigorating, and every couple of lines' laughter could be heard, and some of the other generals were… Well enjoying the bravest of the brave's company.

Lefebvre, Berthier, and Suchet, the two of the more… well less prominent of the Staff Marshals in your opinion, were gathered together, looking over a few of Lefebvre's final reports for you. They seemed more interested in those papers, than anything else. In fact, you guessed if they were not here in the palace, they would be in Lefebvre's office, working.

Mortier and Serurier were not here, neither was Jourdan. The three men were in the hospital, Serurier for fever, and Jourdan and Mortier for battle wounds. They would not be attending and would get an abridged ceremony when they were released for themselves, although it would lack pomp and jubilation.

Or ceremony.

And finally, there were the three men who were the Wrecking crew. The madmen of Italy. The Empresses' Fist…

The three men who had won the war in Italy almost single handily, once she had left them to their own devices.

Severin, Davout and Murat. You had long expected Chamans to try to worm his way in as a guest, but he had refused, wishing to see De Lisle off as he turned in the last of his retirement papers, and walked into a life that was now entirely his own.

De Lisle was content, for his part to go back to the world of composing, of the Opera, the stage, and music. Try to make something good and whole, instead of leaving behind something is broken and stagnant.

He was happy to be seen off with his friend. And you were just as happy to be seen well.

But the room became quiet as Napoleon appeared. He was dressed in a field uniform, free of decorations, save for a cross of Saint Regimous, and a decoration you have never seen before.

He walked forward, and following him, towards the throne room, were three long tables, being carried by ten soldiers. On them, were bright blue batons, with stars on them…

And the famous words of the Marshal. Terror belli, decus pacis.

Terror in war, ornament in peace.

"You all must be thinking about the great cavalcade of batons among this room, to be rewarded." Napoleon began. "But I am not here for the giving of mear rewards to the great men who have saved France in her most dire hour. Who has seen her survive treachery and falsehood? No. I have seen heroes who have gone above and beyond, the call of duty, and who have done for France what most cannot. These Batons are more than just your skill of command and trust."

Napoleon paused, and he did nothing to stop the added flourish that he now had. "Grab one, all of you. You have earned the right to be called Protectors of France, Marshals of France… the Conquerers of the World if you only believe!"

One by one, the batons were taken, before you took the final one.

"The title of Marshal is usually given to the highest military authority in France, back in the old kings ruled. But The Republic refused to have it, because of the beliefs we hold. I bring it back because I believe that all men, and women, are equals. That we can all become better through our own work, and our own valor. Of our own abilities, not only in combat but in our staff work, in our ability to help the men and women of France fight their battles. We fight for France, and only France. So that Tomorrow, we will not have to fight anymore."

Napoleon paused and pulled out the old Sceptor of the ancient kings before he said. "Ave, the heroes of France! Her Marshals and Protectors!"

"Ave!" You all shouted in joy.

You had to say… it may not have been the best speech you have ever heard… but dammit, you knew he was exhausted from the planning and the children.

Brian Auclair
Franquos Kellerman

Gain Trait:

Staff Marshal: You are an Oddity, granted a Baton and white hat not by commanding the great armies of your Fatherland, but by making it all work with its staff and logistical or administration work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Reports came in from General Kellerman. Your inspectors had finally succeeded in finishing the great trials you had given them.

-[X] The Armee Code of Military Justice: Kellerman has read many disturbing reports from Italy, Spain, and the Rhine, of soldiers acting little better than bandits, looting the civilians of the enemy for payment. Army justice for centuries has been at the army's commanders' jurisdiction but many traditions are outdated and many generals do not care as long as soldiers are hurting the enemy and civilians. He proposes to join with several army lawyers and civilian ministers to create a unified code of military justice, to prevent huge massacres, maintain good order and discipline, and maintain a high standard of professionalism, and prevent the army from acting like little more than mercenaries.

Spirit Offered: The Armee Code of Military Justice: The Grand Armee has now assembled a legal doctrine for commanders to use to handle discipline, to maintain order in lawless lands that will be under the French Military Authority.
-The French Army will not suffer any morale debuffs when occupying territories
-Looting will now suffer a -50 to loot roll and if successful, a -5 to loot gained, but there will be no negative relations with the natives
-Crimes committed by the Army can be punished without mob justice.
-The French Army will not be allowed to recruit criminals
-+15 to all noncombat rolls when on the campaign.

Spirit 1!: Do you like this or would you like to scrap it
[]Yes
[]No

------------------------------

-[X] Redesignation of Missions: Your Comrade has requested that there should be new classifications for missions and objectives for Army objectives. This is a changing world, and conquering it is not something that the French Army is going to do all the time. The Crisis in Spain is just an example of what needs to be done. It may work wonders for Morale, and prevent international Pressures from trying to destroy the French Empire and beyond in diplomatic circles.

Spirit Offered: Strategic Reassessment: The French Army is now taking part in many other operations that are among a new breed of warfighting. From conquest to police actions, to even the peacekeeping duties of protecting the French Border have seen a redesignation. Commanders need a clear protocol to change those missions and to maintain cohesion.
-Changing objectives will not cause a massive loss in focus and morale
-It will not cost more than 2 Army wealth to change missions.
-The French Army will be capable of handling a changing battlescape, but that flexibility may hamper operations if used in quick succession.
-Rotation of Units is Available.

Spirit 2!: Do you like this or would you like to scrap it
[]Yes
[]No!
---------------------------------------------------------------

-[X] The School of Armed Conflict: There are plenty of officers, Yourself included, who have never had a true, proper military education, preferring to learn on the job. That is incredible, and the fact that so many succeeded is a testament to the officers instincts, and ability to learn on the job. It also terrifies you that so many junior officers are going into battle with no training whatsoever. Having a chance to train and become better officers would be certainly beneficial.

Spirit Offered: The Collage of War: The French Military is lacking, in many junior officers. Men who were maybe privates or sargents, or never held a military rank before. They needed to be trained so thoroughly that they will be without peers.
-This will open up a new military college, and depending on how funded and how rigorous it's recruitment is, it can create the highest quality of officers.
-Officers will no longer suffer debuffs in their first combat, and they will know what the hell they are doing
-Staff officers and junior officers for Staff work will not be left out to die, and in fact, are encouraged to learn field and staff work.
-Remedial training for Officers are required for promotion to a more senior rank and officers must learn the duties of the next two ranks if they wish to proceed
- (OOC: Opens up OC Creation!)

Spirit 3!: Do you like this or would you like to scrap it
[]Yes
[]No!

You looked at the report that Napoleon made regarding the Children of the Revolution, and quietly set it down. "Exile?"

"They tried to murder our children, I belive that is a fitting enough punishment without having them killed like dogs." He replied.

"Are you forgetting what I talked about?" You replied, incredulous.

"No, I am merely exercising the will to bring criminals to justice." He stated.

"That will only make the problems that we may have prevented come back again, with words that we wish to stamp out the Revolution for our own gain. Is that what you wish?" You asked.

"I am protecting the Revolution, but I will not have it destroyed by those who think that murdering those who support us, or our family be done!" He said, raising his voice.

"Yet they have already surrendered, they have already serving sentences. If that is not love for France and the Revolution, especially with their confessions to cement Robespierre's death?" You replied. "We promised them clemency for their testimony, to publish them in the papers, to give us the moral high ground for him to die." You replied. "So be a man of your word."

Napoleon was quiet. "Why must you always be the angel on my shoulder that I must always bow to, why can't you be the devil I can always ignore." He said, trying his best to not hide his discomfort.

"Because if I were the devil you wouldn't have married me." You replied.

He looked at his papers. "Pierre, get me fresh papers, and ink. We have sentences to commune… or lessen."

"Yes sir." Pierre replied, as he gave a small bow. "I must also say to the Empress, that if you were the devil, you would have killed your husband after the twins were born."

Reward:

The Children of the Revolution have been deradicalized. Threat of possibly counter or continued Revolutionary coups or civil wars are lessened considerably.

Disaster roll increased by +10 for the turn.

THe British Government has refused to grant an audience or correspondence to the doctor who had developed a so called Small Pox Vaccine.

Mostly because their parliament launched their own investigation to see if it works, and think you are just using it to get an Agent into the Country.

And they won't let the Doctor leave the country because they think his Vaccine can be used as a weapon.

Failure:

The British Government is so paranoid of French infiltration or a French plot that they refuse a scientific expedition from one of your ministers to see the papers and the doctor himself.

You are going to lodge a very strong argument that this goes far beyond politics.

Giving men health is the closest one can get to divine power.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Therese,

I leave this letter to you and leave earlier than expected so that I can express all my feelings to you. You are a brilliant woman, one of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet, and I am so glad that I raised you well enough that you have not succumbed to the darkness that has surrounded you.

I have left for America, not only to sevre France, but… to handle a delicate matter.

The American continent is a powder keg, and I am the one that the American's trusted to be a neutral third party to see that it does not explode. Even the Spanish do not view me with the same Animosity as other ministers of france. The British will not know my presence, but I am making sure I do not make it known until after I arrive.

I trust you to do well Sister. And take care of Napoleon, I fear what he will do if he is without me for too long a period of time.

Brian.

Failure: Brian has left for America with his family to act as a neutral representative to stop the fighting between America and Spain.

To the Armies and the Soldier of France

Soldiers. Do you not remember the years we have spent fighting for the Republic, when we have stood by one another as we fought our enemies, the Perfidious Albion, the Prussians and Austrians.

And you see the repayment of this nation, and you see it not of a land of heroes, but a land where you see nothing but disgust and shame. You are lost and alone, with your brothers and sisters in arms drifting away.

But you should not drift into crime and villainy, when we have fought so hard for security and safety for ourselves and our families.

Remember what we fought for, for we have.

We will be able to go home.

Let us do so together.

Therese Auclair, Empress of France,

Comrade in Arms.

Reward: The crime wave that was starting dissipated, and the soldiers are reminded that they are remembered.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Blade fell.

The Head of a Traitor fell with it.

History would not be kind to Maximilian Robespierre, not if you were able to write it.

You admired him once.

Now, you hated him, for personal reasons, more than political ones.

Perhaps that is the warning you will make. Do not make choices of a revolution based on emotions… make them on what needs to be done. For the Security of the Nation.

Maybe.

Reward: Robespierre is dead… A Former Hero of the Revolution…

Now A Traitor to France and her people.

And not a single tear was shed.

Unknown Effect.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The Decree you had given was something the world had never seen before.

You honestly believed that France could soon be a Land for her Heroes

Interlude: A Land Fit for Heroes
Interlude: A Land Fit for Heroes:
December 12th, 1796

You had been waiting for weeks to get the chance to speak, but you had known that the Senate would pass it unanimously. After all, why wouldn't they? The language of the bill, while simple and otherwise hopeful, was ironed out into something they could see, without sacrificing the total tonal message that you had needed from it to spark the awe of the citizens, and give the men you fought with something they could know.

After all, the State should have no reason to care for its veterans, other than they do not commit crimes on citizens and that they are paid when the final days were up.

Abandoned and left to fend for themselves.

You did not believe that, for one moment. These men, those who have fought and were hurt and died for France, deserved to be honored. They deserved something for their efforts, besides a paycheck and a pat on the back before being left alone.

In a sense, it would be the perfect thing to do. If these men were not… you didn't know the right word. Different than they were before.

They were not the same men that left their homes to fight for their country.

Some could not sleep well. Others could not stand to be alone or in the dark, or feel loud sounds… Or just did not know any other life besides the soldier's life.

So many things were wrong with them. And they needed help.

"Are you proud, of what you have done?" Napoleon asked as he sat besides you, his eyes filled with a stream of tears.

"Yes. And I'm sure millions will believe that is is nothing short of good." You stated.

AN: WELL... Now that is a big bonus.

Good thing it's been counter acted by bad things.

Also congratulations! You have started State Sponsered Healthcare!

The Marshals of France and the important people of France’s Army itself
The Marshals of France and the important people of France's Army itself (A Few):

Andre Massena: 11

Massena, despite being a hero of Italy, and one of the more elder and competent commanders of France has been relieved of command of Italy, and has taken to a semi-retirement role as a Governor General of Italy.

He is quite displeased with this announcement. But considering that the Emperor is planning to reform and reconstitute the armies, he is assured that he will be back in command as the Head of the Army of Italy, soon enough.

Reward: He has been demoted due to the Demobilization of the Army

Jean Lannes: 38

Though Lannes has recovered from his wounds, he has requested a few months' leaves from the Army, to be with his family…

Or rather, to divorce his harlot of a wife and try to find another one who will love him with the truth.

Reward: Lannes has left to divorce his wife, and will return in a few months.

Michel Ney: 82

The Hero Ney has been applauded by the Emperor and the Senate of France and has received the thanks of his Peers from the Senate. He is now without a command, but Napoleon has requested that he command his household guard until he can reorganize the Army and even request to assist his wife as Inspector General.

Reward: Ney is in Paris, commanding the Household guard of Napoleon and You.

+1 to an action's next turn.

Jean Baptiste Jourdan: 92

The Wily Fox of the Rhine, and the only commander who is still protesting the Emperor's coronation, but his heroism and reputation keep him in command of the Army of the Rhine.

Though, once again, he has begun to spend his time reforming, reorganizing, and retraining them all, with his dutiful Chief of Staff, Saint Cyr.

Reward: The Army of the Rhine, smaller than it was at its peak… has begun reorganizing.

Louis Nicholas Davout: 100+12=112

Louis Nicholas Davout, the Iron Marshal, according to his two subordinates, Murat and Severin, has been quietly and dutifully…

Making reports. About everything that occurred during THe Naples and Italian campaign that occurred in the last two years.

He most assuredly wished to find a way to replicate the success of the battle of Palermo, where the Amphibious invasion into hostile territory, especially heavily occupied territory like Palermo, could be replicated again.

He has called upon General Dumas to assist him with that endeavor, and while he wishes that the Empress herself could bring upon her experiences, he is too shy to ask.

Reward: The Doctrine of Amphibious Assault, and Strom landings, and Assault Doctrine, has been unlocked as an action from the Doctrines.

New Actions Available.

Murat: 76

The Dandy man, while not in an active role in the Army, has taken to the streets of Paris, being on the prowl for a wife.

His heroism, and his dashing good looks, are something he hopes to capitalize on. And if he decides to help his superior the Empress.

Reward: +1 action, and a new action Available.

Severin: 82

Denis Martin Severin… The Up jumped Sargent who could, is in Paris to visit his family, but there is quite a few things he wishes to do. First, he wants to go home and enjoy being with his wife.

After that, he wants to show off his new Baton, with an ax head.

Lastly, the Emperor is reforming the Army, and he needs… The Sergeant of the Army, to be prepared to write out his training.

Reward: +1 to Action, New Actions Available.

Mortier: 39

Mortier has been reassigned to a garrison position in Brest, Governor of the region, and to assist in the rebuilding of the French Navy with newly appointed Admiral Adam Serre.

Reward: His talents are wasted in an administrative role, but he is not doing anything stupid, like getting shot at by his angry enemies.

Serrurier: 43

Serrurier has been appointed as Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Partially because his reputation as a fair, honest man caught the Eye of the Ottoman Sultan.

It is also reported that he made an enemy with Marshal Massena, and the Emperor wishes to prevent any feuding among his higher officers.

Reward: Serrurier has got east, to the Ottoman court in… Istanbul? Or Constantinople? Everyone is calling it a different thing.

Franquos Kellerman: 96+98+61

The Old man of the Army has some ideas. And with many of his legal reforms for the Army being passed with great acclaim…

He has decided to come up with a new idea. A modern idea some would call it.

Finding a way for the French State's Budget to pay its soldiers on a monthly, or even weekly basis.

Not relying on loot? Absurd! They say.

But the Old man is not deterred.

Reward: New Action Available… To Pay Soldiers.

Lefebvre: 19

Lefebvre has been taken ill, and will be missing crucial meetings in the coming weeks.

Reward: Actions of his inspection have been removed.

AN: Enjoy.

12.1 A Brave New World; Brave nouveau monde
12.1 A Brave New World; Brave nouveau monde

January 1st, 1797

You looked at your children and you then handed over a stack of papers to an aide. "Napoleon, I thought you were sleeping?" You wished he was, perhaps then, you could escape to another room and go to sleep alone.

"I just wanted to see if you needed help," he replied as you walked out of the room and into a pair of chairs that were reserved for the guards, who were standing at attention, pistols ready. "Gentlemen." He asked, and the two men walked into the room.

"I'm not helpless Napoleon." You replied. "And you have a lot more work that no longer needs to be done, now what will you do?"

Napoleon smiled. "I am not going to be allowing only the Senate and the Legislature to do all the work. I am merely a simple guide to offer an opinion, and maybe my support."

You frowned. "Trying to style yourself as an impartial voice?"

Napoleon frowned, but he said nothing. "Kellerman sent you the reports?"

"Yes." you had read them well. "I'm surprised that there are not many from Leferbve."

"He has been taken ill and is in hospital," Napoleon replied. "But I'm sure you know that."

"Yes." You then sighed. "Why are you up this early tonight?"

"I couldn't sleep. Peace… is a very hard thing to finally face, now that the wars are over." He took a breath. "I'm afraid that I am a soldier with a war to fight."

You gave a hug to Napoleon. "My brother always told me that peace should be a priority for any soldier. Because then, they can figure it out themselves." You sighed. "I'd rather have peace as a soldier than have war as a surveyor."

Napoleon nodded "Is that why you worked so hard to help our soldiers who have fought with us? Because they need this peace?"

"Yes." You replied.

Napoleon chewed on his lip, but you stood up and walked away. "See you in the morning Napoleon."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have 16 Actions: You can choose only 3 Military Theories, Doctrines, and tasks from the Inspectors. And they will last until the end of the Year, and you will have the choice to accept them, or not.

You have 20 Wealth.

From Kellerman: The Infantry.

[]The System of Payment, long waiting: Kellerman wishes to provide the Army with a system of a truly equal payment system. A monthly paycheck that will come at the beginning of the month, for a soldier to spend as he wished.

[]Think of the Children: Kellerman has been… disturbed by the nearly twenty thousand servicemen who were under the age of 17. Children were fighting wars. And he wanted to restrict that. Both for the sake of the children and for national mental health, which could decline with so many traumatized children.

[]The Recruits Training (Infantry): Currently, the Recruits go through a very fast, two weeks of basic training, to learn how to march, to load and fire a musket, and maintain a uniform. Most are not physically fit enough to march for multiple miles at a time. But currently, there are units that are being trained in the army itself, wasting valuable time, resources, and personnel. There needs to be a far more intensive, comprehensive basic training. It may prevent the Army in the Short Term from growing larger than your enemy, but it will be made up for inexperience, and discipline.

[]Of Rifles and Riflemen: Current Reports from the Army of Naples have Made Kellerman rethink the utility of RIflemen in the Army and as a Skirmishing force. What only 500 did to an entire division when allowed to move, to choose the ground and use the longer range to cause the devastating effect to the Enemy Forces. The fact that many high-profile riflemen have turned out to be children made you feel… Very, very concerned. But he had a point. Rifles and their utility were too much to just leave alone.

From Lefebvre: Inspector General of Cavalry

Due to his illness, he cannot grant any.

From Bessiere: Inspector General of Artillery

[]Vocations and Incentives: Now that there is not a looming existential Threat tearing France Apart, there is a problem. When the wars are over, there are a lot of men who will be in need of a job, in an economy that is not prepared for an influx of unemployed men. He suggests that, after the end of the War, The empire opens up some sort of Vocational program that will be used to keep these men from becoming vagabonds. Or failing that, offer bonuses to keep them in the Army.

[]Flying Artillery: The General has looked up Russian artillery tactics, and has come to a conclusion that a fast-moving, easily deployable battery, even in the heat of battle. Perhaps they will be small, and weak, but perhaps there is something that can be gained. A Greater Operational and Tactical Flexibility, can now be used by you and Napoleon.

[]A Lighter Cannon: It was a statement that on the surface found preposterous. But you realized that a light cannon could be carried by a person, and maybe even create… grapeshot battalions? What the hell was he even offering, just loading blunderbusses that can shoot long range?

From Other Marshals:

[]The doctrine of Amphibious Assault: Davout has prepared a preliminary report of the Battle of Palermo, and you read it. He was using everything that he learned about the Palermo battle to prepare an effective way to coordinate an assault with the French Navy to land anywhere in Europe.

[]Pioneers: Marshal… was it Soult or Jourdan? You didn't know, requested to find a way to improve the viability of Engineer battalions, how to make rapid fortifications in the middle of battle, changing the way the battle can commence.

[]Shock Troops (Assult Doctrine): Davout again pushes another report onto your desk, about rapid infantry assault on enemy lines. Units that contain assault troops are typically organized for mobility, like mounted infantry or rapid artillery with the intention that they will penetrate through enemy defenses and attack into the enemy's vulnerable rear areas.

[]Anti Partisan Doctrine (Counter Insurgency): Marshal Soult has worked on a series of articles, doctrine ideas, and the army's ability to fight irregular forces. He has numerous ideas. But he never had strict approval to continue, what with his work on other projects and the duties of his subordinates. Now… he wasn't.

From You:

[]Create your Own Doctrine: You have an idea that you wish to implement (You must line tail what you wish to create, and the longer more detailed, the better)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Influence: 850/1000

[]Influence Napoleon: Request Napoleon to Abdicate: Your Husband swore to you he would be a protector of the Republic. Now the Republic has been saved. Or another Washington. (Note: If this option fails, you will not be able to ask him again for 15 years, or if he is in a situation where France may be destroyed if he does not)

Cost 400 Influence DC: 80 Reward: You get to choose who is the next minister of War. (Note: When voting for this option, line tail who you like to place as a minister)

DC: 1 Reward: Paris sees a Triumph, one where her heroes are paraded through the streets.

Political Actions:

[]A Prize for All (Prosthetics): You have a request to the Great Nation of France… and there be a way for men who have lost their limbs to function again? You seem to think so. Cost 7 Wealth. DC: ??? Reward: You start a national Prize to create a new prosthetic limb for soldiers.

[]A Prize for All (Food Preservation): You have a request to the Great Nation of France… and there must be a way for men to no longer starve, and rely upon the ancient preservation techniques of the past? You seem to think so. Cost 7 Wealth. DC: ??? Reward: You start a national Prize to create a new way to preserve food.

[]Vaccines for a Pox: There is a news report from England, about a man who claims to have a cure for Smallpox. You remember a great tragedy of town wiped out from smallpox. You want to see it… and if you can, get Vaccinated yourself from this disease, and see your children protected from it as well. Cost 5 Wealth. DC: ??? Reward: You discover the man who may save millions of lives if it is true.

[]New Rewards: You have an idea and one that the other Inspectors will agree to. A new decorations system, that will be based on Merit, bravery, and Talent. Cost 2 Wealth DC: 10 Reward: Begin Decorations Minturn.

[]A Home for an Empire: You have heard that Napoleon is setting up his home in the Tuileries Palace. You need to see it for yourself... and hope to not be blown away by... Other things. DC 50 Reward: You go to the Palace and try to... be Regal.

[]The Royalists: There are many Royalists in the city who wish to meet the Heroine who has protected the French King... And by King, they Mean Louis... That is not going to sit very well. You will explain to them... that he does not wish for a crown. Cost 2 Wealth, DC??? Reward: You make your will and Louis Choices known.

12.2 Miracle; La Miracle

January 5th, 1797

You sighed as you realized the embarrassment that was on Napoleon's face. Not the usual terror of true fear that you had seen when you were pregnant and giving birth or other moments you assumed when he wore when you were in danger.

Or was just annoyed at the fact that some of the men you accompanied and became friends with, were among the misfits of the Army. Even after Dumas took command of the first corps, he clearly was not well-liked.

His opinions on Chamans were better, though he found himself disgusted with many of the things he espoused, and the lengths he would go to achieve victory. The Reports may have led him to… mark him as a man of interest. For both promotion, and for supervision under a commander who can control him.

And then there was Severin. He did not like the mad Swede who was so eager to lead his men from the lines themselves than as a commander. Yet he was admired, as he did with Ney, for his instinctive tactical and strategic mastery when it came to the infantry… even though Napoleon did not enjoy being… questioned readily and able by his officers.

But it was not your choices of officers that brought you to his annoyance… as much as you feared.

It was the court that was… using them against you.

Napoleon sighed. "They are not happy… court that is… of you requesting more assistance."

You frowned. "And how am I supposed to navigate them if I do not help?"

Napoleon looked away, refusing to look at you. "They think you should just hire someone off the street to join you, but that would be greatly upsetting the balance and their… pride. I can't have that happen. Plus, they see me appointing several of your allies within the Army and listening to you almost incessantly. I think they fear conspiracy."

"They fear my ideas, they fear that I will ask you to abdicate, and make them become what they already are, parasites leaching off the state, and you."

Napoleon shook his head. "That may be… give me a few months. I will find someone you can trust, and that court will find acceptable. Please."

Failure.

Next Turn, these actions will cost nothing, and will automatically succeed.

But Napoleon may choose someone you might not like.

February 1, 1797

"Empress, I have something to show you." A man said, a messenger, a doctor, and surgeon you had never seen before, well, never met before. "I saw your prize and well, my brother, he was a soldier under your command, a Sergeant Pirre Ducos…"

"Yes…" You did not remember Sargent Ducos, but he was one of the men who were wounded in Palermo. He had taken a Cannonball to the leg and lost his arm to a bayonet charge during the Iron Brigades Charge against the King's Division.

It was a miracle he survived, but down an arm and a leg, his economic prospects, and being a burden to his family, even with his new pension… you had heard of men killing themselves for less.

"What is it?" You asked.

"Come with me please." He begged.

And you did.

"My God." You swore.

It would be blasphemy. In any other time, with any other miracle of science and engineering.

Not this.

Not when you could see another man, who should by all means no longer be able to walk… stand up to meet you, with metal limbs.

"Hello, General… it's a miracle isn't it?"

(Interlude: The Mobility Lost, Returned by Miracle of Science)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No one wanted to try to create a food preservation technique.

In fact, all the money that you spent on the prize had gone to the prosthetic prize.

Critical Failure.

This Action now costs 10 Wealth.

Napoleon is not as interested, so something brilliant needs to be created for him to adopt it.

If it fails again, this action will be locked out for 5 years.

February 2, 1797

Doctor Edward Jenner was sneezing in the early morning snows of Paris. "Forgive me, Empress, I am not used to being in the presence of… well, to my countrymen, a villainess."

"I can assure you that your reputation is not like mine." You stated. "I have read numerous newspapers and reports, both from my agents and from my own research. What you have done is a miracle."

He smiled. "Thank you for thinking of it that way."

"Could you prepare a vaccination for me and my family?" You asked.

He was taken aback. "I'm sorry?"

"I want my family to be vaccinated. Surely it cannot be too great a task for you?" You asked.

"Not at all." He replied. "Though I request a favor, if possible?"

"Name it?"

"My country is in the midst of a… ignorant fad, where they consider vaccines dangerous. I… wish for a public demonstration if possible, to show how safe it is."

"Of course." You replied readily.

Reward: You have been vaccinated for Smallpox, along with your family, Publicly.

The Rest of Europe is taking Dr. Jenning's Work, very seriously.

The Anti-Vax Movement suffers a very big blow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marshal Suchet was already on his way to Spain when you had informed him of his new posting.

Something about Spain being his calling made it clear to you that he really wanted to get out of court.

Reward: Suchet has been named commander of the Army of Spain, and the Governor-General of Aaragon. Let's hope to god he does well there.

But you have a strange feeling that he will be just fine in Spain… you don't know why though.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dearest Empress,

I must say, my adventures escaping England are far less adventurous than they may seem.

We were caught by a spy that was working for the king when we were looking for investors and peacemakers within the country. Severin got us out by bending a bar, climbing out, and then getting a ladder from a nearby firehouse.

He said something about running into an old friend from before the war… a lady friend, a scorned lover whom he tried to marry, but was left because he was just a mere soldier, and she was after wealth.

Then it was just running towards the port, and getting on a boat.

It was a Russian diplomat's private boat, but the crew recognized me and bagged me, before throwing me in the hold and saying I would be worth the Ransom for my uncle.

Thankfully, the Diplomat was honorable enough and after hearing our tale, would agree to take us to St. Petersburg.

I fear their intentions, and we shall work tirelessly to get back to France.

I hope this note and the information in it will reach you well.

Charlotte.

Reward: GB's Rumor mill will have a second roll, but it will be for a negative event that occurs in Ireland.

The Easter Rising is about to begin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 12th, 1797

Napoleon and you were with you, your sons, as you both decided to talk about this family.

Continued in: We Need to Talk (An Interlude)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later that day, you saw a peculiar sight. Murat and Marmont together. That alone was cause for concern, as many who were in your inner circle would say that the two men despised each other with every fiber of their being.

One for being the flamboyant, loyal, downright dashing Knight and Hero of France, who had always been known as an outspoken, and downright loyal, to you, and to The Emperor.

The other was a quiet, reserved, some would call a neurotic officer and courtier, who was lucky to be alive and in standing mostly because you took him as an Aide.

But when both men had pistols drawn, you knew that you had to stop this, before both men got killed for their foolishness.

"What the hell is this!?" You demanded as you felt the rage bubble in your heart as you stormed out in the middle of them.

"I truly think it's just because you are a blasted fool who cannot stand that I am anywhere near your so-called army." He replied. "Now concede the point that I am worthy!" Marmot shouted. "I deserve to be here, for my competence, and knowledge! Not because I happen to know Napoleon!"

Murat pointed his pistol. "Draw sir, and let god decide."

You stepped in between the both of them. "Stop it both of you, you blasted fools!"

"Empress, stay out of this, this is a matter of honor." Murat stated, as Marmont took his pistol and primed it.

"Fuck your honor! If either of you is hurt, I will remove you from the army, Marshalship includes Murat!" you said, following the steps so that they would not fire at each other.

"This is why you follow her like a dog Marmont, because she protects you from your actions when you should get what you deserve!" Murat taunted.

You growled. "Murat, I order you to drop that pistol, as your senior officer!"

Murat paused, before he holstered his pistol, and gave a bow. "My deepest-" He started.

You then slapped him. "I am writing a reprimand." You stated. "Give me your pistol. NOW!"

He obeyed as you disarmed him. "Get the hell out of here, before I decide to throw you in a cell for the night."

Murat nodded, giving a small bow before he walked away.

Marmont remained still as he lowered his pistol, before exhaling a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry for-"

"The hell is wrong with you?" You asked as he holstered his pistol. "Why did you accept Murat's Duel?"

"Because I am tired of being treated as a traitor." He replied.

"You are not a traitor-" You protested.

"To you maybe!" He raised his voice. "To everyone else! They think I am a traitor who was blinded by Robespierre, the revolution! Everything that is wrong!" He shouted. "My reputation is in tatters, and no amount of heroics will ever allow me to regain my honor!"

"Than fuck your honor!" You shouted. "I don't care about honor. Serve France, and let our descendants realize your worth. I care little for honor, and neither should you."

"People don't change their minds." He said.

"Then make them. By being loyal to France." You stated. "No honest man should be loyal to anything else. And you are honest."

Reward: You have stopped Your Knight and Squire from killing each other from killing themselves.

Marmont gains an unknown trait.

Marmont and Murat gain a -5 to combat rolls when serving together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Report you got back from the investments you made was terrible.

Stolen money… you were scammed out of your money by some… Opportunistic French industrialist…

You wanted to suspect your many enemies, but at this point, you want to find that bastard and make him squirm.

But it revealed a problem that you had never thought about.

The Workers are beginning to organize into their own battalions, many of them even drilling…

For a growing civil protest, and something worse.

Critical Failure.

The Workers of France are organized for protests

New Action Available.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You met a General, Van Damme when he was on leave, but that was only a very… frosty introduction.

He merely said hello, and left.

Reward: You med General Van Damme.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Court, you realized how alone you were.

Your allies, if you even had any… were distancing themselves from you. The Strong coalition of sugar interests, new industrial magnets who were trying to become shareholders in your companies, and other ex noblemen were trying to attempt…

No… they were attempting to remove you from your office of Inspector General, and replacing you with General…. Georges Cadoudal, or General Jourdan.

Both men who were extremely hostile in a political environment such as Paris, who made no small efforts in showing their contempt for Napoleon and his… Empire. And would do anything to see Louis, or a Republic returned and would do so violently.

But the Women's Society had some members among the staff, who were keeping you safe from being poisoned, and assassinated.

You were grateful.

And worried that there was someone who wished to murder you.

Reward:

The court is a dangerous game, and you have no idea how to navigate it… and you worry that many of the courtiers of… this new Empire wish to see you out of power.

The Staff thankfully, and a few of the Republicans are trying to help, but have not made themselves known to you.

Be Careful when venturing into that pit again, without help.

AN: Enjoy.

Interlude: The Mobility Lost, Returned by Miracle of Science
Interlude: The Mobility Lost, Returned by Miracle of Science

You saw the Sargent walking towards you under his own power, and realized that this was a miracle. "Empress." He said with a salute. "Or General?" He asked as he saluted.

Pirre's sleeve was rolled up and it revealed a very intimidating metal arm, with metal plating covering… something. The components "How" you asked, completely shocked at the piece of machinery.

"My brother is a genius, and he saw some of the smaller moving parts that were created in your machinery, and a surgeon of mine agreed to do the surgery, even when my life was at risk." the Sargent replied as he moved the arm, before flexing the fingers, and making a fist. "It's quite amazing, that he found a way to attach this… miracle to my bones and find it to work."

"That's incredible." You said with a smile, as he moved and walked over to his brother and stood next to him. "But why are you showing this to me?"

"Because your prize was five million Francs." He replied. "Is it possible that I can ask for something else as well?"

"Of course?" You replied.

"I want to patent this technology, and do my best to help these soldiers as best they can." He replied.

"That can certainly be arranged."

The man then said. "And I want to give it to any soldier for free."

That made you pause. "That's… why would you do that?"

"Because you have proved to me that you cared for the soldiers of France even more than the Emperor. The people of court may forget, but we never will." He stated.

Who was this man. "And who does the world owe?" You asked.

"Edward. Edward Ducos. Though my brother calls me Metalhead. Not the best name, but I enjoy another name... Fullmetal."
---------------------------------------------

Reward:

The Prosthetics created are fully metal and heavy, but are fully functional, connecting to the bone and nerves of soldiers' limbs, and bolted onto their arms and legs in a very invasive, and dangerous surgery.

But if they survive the surgery and the recovery period, they gain metal limbs that are 95% as effective as their human limbs. In addition to making the limbs bullet and explosion-proof, it also allows them to join the workforce.

All Casualty rolls from battles regardless of the outcome will be cut by 1/2, unless you are routed from the field.

If you lose a limb (Example Arm).

Fullmetal Arm: You have a full metal prosthetic, an arm created by Edward Ducos to give soldiers a second chance at life. (Regain full usage of your lost limb. Gain a +5 to combat rolls, no longer suffer a malus to personal rolls due to your crippling injury.)

AN: Enjoy.

The Rumor mill (Europe Only)
The Rumor mill (Europe Only)

Disaster Roll: 93+50=143

The Workers of France have… risen up in massive waves across the country, and attacked numerous factories… and locked them down.

What they discovered was nothing short of heinous. Hundreds, if not thousands of enslaved Africans, and tens of thousands of debtors who were all but slaves to their debts… including the soldiers who had lost everything fighting for their country.

The fury was palpable, when they dragged the owners in chains, to be tried for… well

Let's see, slavery, indentured servitude, illegal utilization of state funds… so much. With the workers electing their own factory leaders, for the time being, you see a great deal of new blood coming to court, now that the bloodsuckers who wished to see you discredited...

You could sleep easy tonight.

Reward: Court has been made much safer for you,and new businessmen and women are ready to meet you.

Certain actions now cost 0.

France is very much ready to state getting back to work.

Homefront investments now only cost 1.

Napoleon: 73
The Marshals: 96+80=

Kellerman smiled at the growing number of the Marshals that have arrived. "Gentlemen. Thank you for coming. Our plan here is simple. To plan the invasion of Germany, Austria, and Prussia. You will each be divided into three different groups, one focusing on the operational needs of three different theaters of war. We shall be going through a great deal of struggle and planning for every eventuality. For our force deployment, to supply, to movement, to commanders and how they would react."

Kellerman then set papers down. "You know your teams, and do be quite clear the Inspectors will be reviewing the plans, and the Emperor himself will be joining this planning session soon."

"Good luck, and do not think that if your plan fails to attract the attention of the Emperor or Empress does not mean they will not be noted, and improved upon. This entire escapade is for a bare plan, to be improved upon, and to promote unity among the Marshals and the higher commanders."

"Dismissed, to your teams. We have much work to be done."

The Emperor Smiled. "MArshal Kellerman… keep me informed."

Reward: The French General Staff has been formed by Marshal Kellerman.

All the Marshals currently in France are war planning a future war in Germany, a Defense of France in case of invasion, and the allocation of resources to numerous fields, including the medical, scientific, and strategic resources needed to commit war.

These plans are to be graded on their merit at a later date by the Emperor, or if he is busy… the Inspector General. You.

The Marshals gain a +30 to all planning rolls while the Staff is gathered.

New Actions are available.

Due to High Command being taken as a Marshalship requirement, You can commit multiple, preplanned, organized offensives with multiple independent commands… and if the General thinks they have a way to make it better, they will act upon it immediately.

Napoleon gains a +50 to all planning rolls when staff is gathered and is willing to listen to them on a regular basis.
