I seem to remember that USA has already taken it over from the Spanish (in any case, it never went back to France ITTL )

Really, i don't remember it being in update. Plus otl Spain and new Spain aren't really one and the same.

But anyway fact remains that that's still French territory and some compensation will have to be made.

But really US, beside that and unresolved debt? Do they even take us seriously? Thin ice i say, thin ice.

A quick Google search says that the region of "French Louisiana" was ceded to Britain and Spain during 1763 after the French and Indian War, regained in 1800 and sold in 1803 OTL. TTL the USA beat the snot of Spain to the point that they took the lands purchased during the Louisiana Purchase(and then some) and proceeded to send Spain into hell(Not New Spain). The US currently control it and it is unwise to bring it up.

One thing to note about the situation here is that the expansion was mostly done by American settlers and Indian allies who really did not want to deal with the Spanishes shit anymore… and while the settlers are now far less willing to break treaties, there will still be conflict between natives and American settlers.

It is? Why?

Louis XIV transfered it to Spain and ITTL, it never went back to France, at least up to now.

It belongs to people of France! Not the king. It's the same as saying just because they borrowed from the king they shouldn't pay back.

I'm weary firm when it comes to finances. But the point is those two questions are the same and question of Louisiana can be put in the duster (with minor compensation) as long as we get our money back. French people literally starved for the independence war.

So, to round it up we shouldn't give up obvious diplomatic advantage and i still stand firm, that if US wants normal relationship they should pay back.

Well, the thing is that the French Republic has assumed all debts of the kingdom of France (except from English creditors obviously)

So there is that.

America only broke the Allience with France, not it's debt repayments from them.

As for Louisiana: France does not control it, the Americans do and if they are paying anyone, it's the Spanish.

Add in some crazy shit and the Spanish being suddenly competent in new Spain?

There will be an American diplomatic conference and Brian is going to be there to do shit.

Louisiana went Spanish with a peace treaty signed by France a generation ago.

Are you saying that all peace treaties are no longer applicable when one of the signatory kings dies? That all wars must restart after a few years?

EDIT: by that logic USA belongs to England, as the King had no right to abandon lands which belonged to the people of England.

If that's the case then it's fine, we get our money and we are fine. But what is Brian's mission? Does he wants to prevent tensions between New Spain and America and have them focus on true enemy (British) while getting into Spanish good graces and making them accept French dominion of the mainland? I could imagine Spanish King asking to be crown as Emperor of Latins, or something.

But yea i actually see the logic of alliance with the US (now that debt is being paid off) to keep the British busy and their attention divided between America and Europe. It's good thing they have Canada and are sea power, that way US has interest against them both on land and sea as i can imagine US not appreciating British ruling the wave's.

For New Spain, i must say once again that I'm a fan as actually strong and untied Latin America has a good prospect .

You don't get to know Brian's mission, after all you failed that roll.

But he might come back a hero… or worse an idiot.

Oversimplified-Omake: The Napoleonic Wars - The War of the Second Coalition (Alexander Sturnn)
Oversimplified-Omake: The Napoleonic Wars - The War of the Second Coalition

Narrator: "While the French Civil War had been a quick and mostly bloodless affair, ending with Robespierre fleeing the country and Napoleon and Therese taking over power smoothly, things did not look so well outside of the Borders.

The second Coalition was making moves, marching into French Territory. Already, the Batavian Republic in the Netherlands had fallen to the Prussians, the Austrians were steadily pushing Massena back in Northern Italy, the British Navy went on the attack against the French Caribbean, the Spanish were also slowly getting ready to march over the Pyrenees and Prussian and HRE-Forces were preparing to cross the Rhine while Russian Troops started their long march across Europe to join the fight.

France needed Military Masterminds, both at home and at the front. Thankfully, they had just the People for the Job.

Along the Rhine, General Jourdan, who Therese served under during the battles in Eastern France during the First Coalition was proving himself quite the clever Fox, beating back multiple attacks by the Prussians (Jourdan wearing fox ears as he surprises the Prussians) who really wanted to back at Therese for beating them before. However, he was put into a tight spot until Napoleon and Brian came to the rescue and beat the Prussians back.

Speaking of Therese, as she was recovering from being shot after her big speech, she stayed in Paris to rest. Command of her half of the Army of the Orient fell to General Jean Lannes, one of Napoleon's boys."

Napoleon: Okay Jean, I'm letting you take charge of my wife's half of her army. You cool with that?

Jean: Totally there, Nappy!

Narrator: "His job was to move north, take the Netherlands back from the Prussians and Austrians, and push them out of their sister Republic. So he did, running rampant through the Netherlands (riding on his horse as his men plow through the Prussians and Austrians) During this time, he would form a good friendship with Dumas, seeing him as an equal despite his race (both high five).

French forces were also pushing deep into Spain, not facing any real opposition but disease. (soldiers coughing)

In Italy, Davout and the boys headed south to Naples, making certain that Ferdinand III, the same guy whose butt Therese had so thoroughly kicked in Sicily (Therese kicking Ferdinand offscreen as her men beat up the Sicilians with sledgehammers). However, they were in for a surprise when they showed up into the Kingdom of Naples."

Ferdinand III. (standing on a pedestal and talking to his People): "People of Naples! The French Hordes are coming to take my last Kingdom from me- Um, I mean, to take YOUR freedom away! The Situation is dire, but you must resist and fight to the last breath so that I my keep my crown- I mean, so that you may be free from French Rule! Some...many...most of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing- Uh, that YOU should be willing to make!"

(Utter silence meets his Words.)

Man in the crowd: "...Oooorrrr, instead of dying pointlessly in this stupid war you started, we could just overthrow you and hand the State over to the French, who will make it a Republic and leave us People in charge of our own destiny. All in favor?"

(The entire crowd raises their hands.)

Fredinand III.: "...OoooOhhHhh NoooOooo-!!"

Narrator: "So Freddy was quickly deposed of (Neapolitans throw him off the throne) and the Neapolitans quickly set up their own Sister Republic and quickly joined under France's umbrella."

Davout: Well that was fast. (Looks to Severin and Murat) Alright then time to bail Massena out of Genoa.

Narrator: "And so Davout ordered his half of the Army of the Orient up the peninsula to save the trapped Army of Italy.
Meanwhile, after being besieged in Rome for months, the Pope finally decided to unexcommunicate the the entirety of the Army of the Orient. This must have been a relief for Therese as she was still a good Christian girl and would mean that Catholic nations wouldn't hate her and her forces as much.

Speaking of, Therese was made the Inspector General of the French Army, meaning that she would hear out proposals to improve the effectiveness of the army.
She also did interviews (spoke while the reporters wrote stuff down), met with her husband's ministers (spoke with them in a meeting room), help found Les Invalides (cuts the ribbon to the building), helped make an improved steel press which made the Lorraine region produce tons of metal goods for the army and made one of Severin's family members in charge of the place (gives Matteo the keys to the ironworks), and adopted Louis and Charlotte into her side of the family (brings the two into her side of the family).
Now if that last one seems confusing to you, don't worry, the Royalists in the Vendee region were right there with you (royalists confusingly spoke to one another about this)."

Royalist 1: The empress adopted the royal siblings into the Imperial family? Perfect! That means the Bourbons will be back to ruling the country when those two kick the bucket!

(Royalists cheer)

Royalist 2: Well actually, they've been adopted into her side of the family.

(Cheering stops)

Royalist 1: To HER side of the family? As in the Auclairs?

Royalist 2: Yep.

Royalist 1: That's... an odd way for the prince to get the throne eventually but I guess it still works.

Narrator: "However, she was told to not push herself and relax in order to give birth to her children. This of course, no doubt annoyed her."

Therese: Doctor I have to keep working hard in order to improve France! I can't just not be active!

Larrey: Your highness, you have sustained so many injuries during your career that if you overwork yourself you WILL die.

Therese: So what? I'm supposed to stay still and not try to help the country we fought for? Besides if these are my children they'll be as tough as me and their father!

Larrey: I'm the medical professional here your highness! So go to your room!

Therese: No you are not my parents nor Brian!

Larrey: I said go!

Therese: No!

Narrator: "Thankfully, common sense won out in the end and Therese agreed to rest until her children were born (Therese lying in her bed with a grumpy expression).
Meanwhile, however, the War raged on. Lannes was fighting the Prussians in the Netherlands (Lannes is slap-fighting a Prussian General), Brian and Napoleon prepared another strategic Masterpiece (Brian and Napoleon move Figures across a map) and Davout and Friends were getting ready to give the Austrians, who by now had driven Massena into a corner, an asskicking.

Let's see how Spain was faring.

(Spain is completely on fire, People and Soldiers rioting and looting the streets or running around in a panic.)

Oh Spain, what a mess you have made of yourself.

As the war in Europe was turned against them, and their colonies were falling apart, Spain now dealt with a French army pushing south. However, the Bourbons in Spain had a big brain scheme to solve their problem."

Spanish civilians: "Your majesty! France is invading us! What is your plan?"

King Charles: "Fear not my subjects! I your loyal and proud king swear to solve this crisis and put back on the right path!"

(Civilians cheer)

King Charles: "Yes indeed, I shall fix our problems- Hey look over there!" (He points as the civilians turn as he and his family book it for the ports to go to New Spain)

Spanish civilians (turn around to see the royal gone): "Um... where did the royal family go? (civilians stand around before going to riot)"

Narrator: "So the royal family moved to New Spain to reorganize their colonies and put them back in order. And they succeeded (New Spain cheers). Rebels were put down (Rebels are beaten up with musketbutts), infrastructure was improved (workers get to building new structures), rules and laws that put down the lower classes were removed (tears apart old laws), corruption was rooted out (corrupt ministers were thrown out), and a gold rush in Chile allowed for Charles get a ton of money. (royal family is swimming in gold). Overall, Charles moves to bring the colonies to heel and make a new order in their American territories was a massive success.
Spain however, abandoned by anything resembling official Authority, descended into anarchy and destruction. Much to the surprise of the French Army, which had seized Barcelona and currently was not quite sure what had even happened."

(French Soldiers in Barcelona watch as the rest of Spain burns.)

French Soldier 1: "...D-did...did we do that?"

French Soldier 2: "Maybe indirectly...? Kinda...?"

French Soldier 1: "Should we go in there and do something?"

(A massive fire explosion can be heard in the distance.)

French Soldier 1: "Okay, BAD Idea."

French Soldier 3: "So what do we do now?"

French Officer: "Just...er...just wait for Orders, I guess."

Narrator: "While the Situation in Spain imploded, the Coalition-Forces in the East were busy getting their butts kicked by the French.

Napoleon was again kicking the Enemy around along the Rhine, with Brian helping out where he can. Eventually, he would lead a lightning campaign against Hanover, splitting his army up to tempt the enemy, before getting absolutely smashed. In the end, both Austrian and Prussian forces along the Rhine and in Hanover surrendered, finally forcing the two nations to surrender to France.

During this time, another female officer Adalene Durand showcased her skills and leadership when she lead her cavalry to save General Saint-Cyr when his raiding force was under threat of being destroyed. She was climbing up the ranks much like Therese, meaning she could be the second woman to become a hero of France.

Lannes and his forces also helped to take back the Netherlands, though was shot and wounded by assassins bring the celebrations, leading Dumas to take over.

Meanwhile in Italy, Davout would lead his force to save Massena's Army of Italy. During the battle of Genoa, Severin was wounded in battle alongside Berthier, both leading charges. Murat meanwhile, would prove that he and his horse boys were the best in Europe, smashing apart the Austrians and becoming known as the First Knight of France.

However the biggest surprise during the battle was Louis, who lead a few companies of riflemen and decimated an Austrian Division, using cover and the range of the rifles to his advantage."

Louis: "Good news Severin, I was able to prove Therese right in getting these rifles. You should have seen us, using terrain and cover to pick the Austrians off, and them calling us frogs."

Severin: "Good for you Louis, but you screwed up."

Louis (getting angry): "What!? But I drove off the force attacking us!"

Severin: "You also caused us to divert soldiers that would have allowed our breakthrough to be more effective, and allowing that fop Murat to gain more glory then me. And you know I hate that! Now I actually have respect for that man! Now then, start writing up those letters to families whose fathers and sons they lost today and make sure to learn when to take the initiative in a way that doesn't cost so much!"

Louis (lowers his head): "Okay."

Narrator: "While he did screw up in his deployment, this battle and subsequent battles would finally allow Louis to overcome his suicidal compulsions, meaning that he would now focus on living and becoming a true soldier for France, finally breaking the last of the mental shackles he had from his time of abuse (breaking the shackles around him and smiling at his new freedom). Now he would become a lion that would fight for France, no matter where he would go. Good for him.
So while child soldiers are never a good thing, this time was an exception.

Following this effort, the Austrians were pushed back. Massena would try in bed, having been wounded as Oudinot would take over command of the Army of Italy. Davout planned to finally crush the Austrians at Marengo. Murat would yet again prove his skill at commanding his cavalry as they would get ready for another successful charge. Severin however, had other ideas."

Severin: "Oh no, I'm NOT allowing Murat to get one up on me again!"

So he did the same thing Therese once did and led his Guardsmen while wounded into a charge that slammed into the Austrian right flank, smashing it apart and causing a full on collapse. Murat seeing Severin's charge soon ordered his own and helped put the Austrians to flight.

Now it was Murat's turn to show (to his horror) respect to the Mad Swedish Sargent and even see him as a friend (Murat is annoyed by Severin who is smirking).

Great Britain wasn't having much luck either. While ineffectually besieging the French Caribbean, they utterly failed to find the French Navy, which was playing a successful Game of hide and seek on the Oceans.

(Angry British Naval Officers look around with a telescope, not noticing the French Ships sneaking past them in the background.)

At the same time, they almost lost their holdings in India to a Coalition of the Native Warlords. It was only thanks to the Efforts of a young and brilliant General, Sir Arthur Wellesley, that the tide on the Subcontinent once again turned in favor of the British.

So far, the Brits had little to show for the copious amounts of Money that they had bribed the other Nations of the Coalition with. The War just wasn't going well.

(Shows the British Government looking dismayed at a chart with a red line going downwards all the way to the bottom. The Chart is called 'War of the Second Coalition' and the labels on it going from up to down read 'RULE BRITANNIA!!!'; 'Jolly good War!'; '...Was this really a good Idea?' and 'HOLD ONTO YOUR TEA AND PRAY!!!'.)

In addition, the Russians, who finally arrived at the battlefields, took one look at the other shattered Coalition Forces and decided that this was not what they had signed up for.

(Russian General says 'I'm out' and exits stage right.)

This was quite the steal for Russia, as this meant that the British silver they got for fighting in the coalition would help rebuild Russia after its civil war. Alexander, you sneaky thief (Alex winks to the camera).

In addition, the US pulled off one of the biggest and most successful raids in history, not only freeing half of the sailors that had been taken in by the British and pressed into service and getting back all 200 of their ships but proving that Britain's control of the seas didn't make them safe from invasion. This combined with a defeat at the hands of a Spanish-American Naval force meant that their fortunes were dropping even faster.

Meanwhile, Therese was trying to take it easy as she meant with Napoleon's side of the family which went rather well. However, when visiting the Women's society of Paris, she leant of something that Napoleon was doing behind her back."

Therese (walks into the room as the women were talking): "Greetings ladies, I hope things have been going well-"

Woman 1: "Therese, you have to help us!"

Therese: "Woah there, what's wrong? Is someone threatening you?"

Woman 2: "Yes, your husband!"

Woman 3: "He prevented us from voting during the election!"

Therese: "Well that is sad considering the previous constitution allowed you to-"

Woman 4: "He's also not allowing us to own property or businesses!"

Woman 5: "And he isn't allowing us to hold office either!"

Therese (angry): "What!? Let me see his laws!"

(Therese reading through the papers given to her and as is angry on the inside)

Therese (narrows her eyes): "So my husband is trying to take away the rights of women huh? Don't worry ladies I WILL straighten him out."

(Scene shows the Palace, Napoleon coming into Therese's room as she carries the children in her arms while lying in bed.)

Napoleon (smiles): "Awww...they're adorable."

Therese (smiles as well): "Yes, they are. (Her eyes suddenly narrow) Almost as adorable as my husband restricting Women's rights the way he did, effectively making ME a criminal."

Napoleon (wide eyes of shock and nervousness): "...U-um...l-look, I swear, I can explain."

Therese (with deceptive sweetness in her voice): "I sure hope you can. Because otherwise, you're sleeping on the couch for the next fifty years at least."

Narrator: "So Napoleon, realizing he made his wife unhappy, ended up rescinding the laws about women's rights. A big win for the ladies of France (women across France celebrate).

Meanwhile, the Coalition was now falling apart. Prussia and Austria surrendered, Russia had left without fighting, New Spain was now Britain's enemy, and the HRE also stood down. At last Britain had no choice but to admit defeat as well. The War of the Second Coalition had ended in another French Victory. Brian oversaw the return of Austrian prisoners and proclamation of victory, no doubt to remind them of who had humiliated them so thoroughly.

Lannes returned to help in the fighting in the Netherlands as the joint Austro-Prussian force was defeated. And Dumas proved his skills yet again in battle.

In Italy, both Severin and Murat were wounded and staring down death until Louis came in with some riflemen and saved them, being proclaimed as one of France's great heroes for his actions.

Eventually, all of the Coalition powers soon accepted their losses and the war came to end with the Treaty of Paris in 1796. Prussia and Austria suffered the worst, paying reparations and sending large quantities of food to France in order to deal with its possible starvation issue. Britain wouldn't get hit with all of France's demands but would concede some, once again having to deal with its decision to push for the war.

However, for Therese, she had suffered an important loss. Kléber, one of her generals had been killed in battle, torn apart by enemy troops in the Netherlands but going down fighting. His body was found standing up right, propped up by a Elm Tree. His funeral was small as he had wanted it to be, with Therese bidding him a final farewell with a speech. (Therese holds a funeral, looking sad) Even though he was now gone, Therese would make sure that she would make France the best she could to honor him and the soldiers who fell in battle.

At any Rate however, the War was finally over and France at Peace."

Napoleon: "Glad that's finally over now."

Therese: "Yeah...let's hope that was the last trouble for a few years."

Narrator: "It wasn't."

A.N.: Another Omake written in Collaboration by me and @Blazblade. Hope you all like it!

On the topic of Louisiana, the reason Nappy was able to sell the territory is because during the revolution the people in Louisiana were not particularly happy with spanish rule so a deal was worked out to trade Louisiana for the duchy of Parma in 1801, Nappy decided that Louisiana wasn't worth keeping as afaik it wasn't worth money without Haiti.

So ironically, in this timeline if France did own Louisiana there probably wouldn't be a sale to America due to the much impowered Haiti, but instead the territory just never went to France because America just clown cared all over Spanish territory.

Something to note: The Americans did it to help indian allies within the region, whom were willing to accept autonomy as... well autonomous nations within the States.

Once again showing that, because America didn't decide to genocide the natives, they've gained lots of friends who hate the Spanish, and are willing to help them kick ass.

After all, a Teenage/ twentysomething Andrew Jackson took Florida with Seminoles.

A Meeting of the Marshals (AvidFicReader)
A Meeting of the Marshals

A dozen figures occupied the finely appointed room in Tuileries Palace, each dressed in immaculate uniforms, and each bearing the blue baton that was their symbol of office. Kellerman sat with Lefebvre, Berthier and Suchet at a table where they spoke animatedly over a stack of reports. Massena and Lannes shared their differing experiences as theater commanders with a recovered Jourdan, while Ney and Murat swapped war stories, with Mortier and Serurier occasionally chiming in, or Davout correcting an exaggeration of Murat's.

However, three of their number were currently absent. The Empress, Therese Bonaparte, was busy with affairs of state. Her brother, Brian Auclair, had departed for the Americas to serve as the Emperor's voice and representative with two of the undisputed great powers in that hemisphere; the Spanish Empire and the United States. The final marshal not present was Denis Severin, whose absence was the source of discussion among those who knew him.

"We held out against those cowardly Austrians until the Falcon swooped in to save the day, with General Davout and a brigade of infantry hot on his heels. That's how I got this handsome scar. Say, General Davout, where is that churl of a footman, anyhow? I can list any number of the man's faults, but his sense of timing is not among them. Else Messina and Marengo would have turned out somewhat differently, though my dashing horsemen would have carried the day regardless."

"Denis mentioned something about picking up a custom order, but you are right. A simple thing would not cause him to be so late."

"Oh, would you care to shar-"

The loud crash of the door impacting against the wall drew the eyes of all in the room, each general reaching for swords and pistols that were absent. The booming shout that followed calmed everyone, reassuring that this intrusion was not an attack on some of the most highly-ranked officers in the army.

"I AM HERE!"

"Damnit, you up-jumped sergeant, where the hell were you?"

"Missed you too, Prancing Pony Princess! Picking up my special order took longer than expected, and then I got held up by the guards. Hey Ney-Ney! Your boys are pretty paranoid! At least they're professional and well-trained. Something about running full-tilt at the Emperor's Residence not being acceptable? One of 'em almost shot me- don't worry, he's all right. Going to wake up with a hell of a headache, though."

"Ney-Ney?!" Michel Ney can only sputter incoherently at Severin's travesty of a nickname.

"Denis, let me get this straight. You were running late, so you, a large and intimidating man, charged right up to the palace, and when challenged by the guards, you knocked one out?"

"Sort of? I ducked under his musket and ran into him, knocked the wind out of him. Poor man had the misfortune to take an accidental butt-stroke to the head from another guard on the way down."

"And they held you up for that long out of spite?"

"No, no, they were professional about it. Accidents happen, the corporal recognized I was someone important- not that I like wearing this damned fancy target suit- and let me in. It was the next part that took a while."

"You were coming to a meeting with a dozen of the most important men in the army, what could possibly take so long?"

"Well, they had me disarm. Had some close calls with assassins in the past, and that bombing, too."

"Denis, we all had to disarm. That's why your... brash... entrance didn't see you stabbed or shot."

"Weeeellll... I handed over my sword, then they asked for my pistol. Handed that over, then my two spares. No time to reload when you're in the thick of it, right? They just stared at me for a bit, then I gave 'em my belt knife. Patted my vest down and handed over my stash of throwing knives. I'm not great outside of ten feet, but it's nice to have a ranged option when you're out of ammo. After that, I remembered I had my boot knife and my spare, never know when you need a holdout weapon, especially when you're outnumbered and surrounded, just like at Milan, right Murat? You wouldn't stop whining about how your face was hideous."

"Shut up Severin! And why in the devil's name are you carrying an armory's worth of weapons in the streets of Paris?"

"Habit, I guess? It's not the most dangerous place in the world, but I feel a bit naked without my weapons. Anyway, I'm here, we can start the meeting."

"Right, Lannes, you're the one who asked us here."

"Ahem, as entertaining as that bit of excitement was, let me call this meeting to order. I felt we could use the time to get to know one another, unofficially, as we will have to work together extensively in the future for the sake of France, surrounded by the hostile nations of Europe. I know it is a formality, but please present your batons."

One by one, the marshals present their batons as a symbol of their office. Except for Severin.

"Denis. Where. Is your. Baton?"

"Well, funny story, that-"

"What. Happened."

"Nick, you're pretty damned scary right now. Eh, I brought my baton, but Ney-Ney's boys took it."

"Severin, you are a Marshal of France, and the baton is a symbol of your office. Why would my men confiscate it?"

"I did say they asked me to disarm."

"Denis. What did you do."

"Nick, you know how I hate fancy shit that's only for ceremonial purposes. And the baton... so I turned it into something more practical. Imayhavefitteditwithanaxehead."

Davout can only stare blankly at his friend for a long moment before he facepalms and slumps back in his seat. As the other marshals process what Severin said, they too join Davout in expressing their exasperation. At that moment, Therese steps into the room.

"So, I heard that the marshals were all meeting up here and-"

Surveying the scene, Therese is witness to the greatest military officers of France sharing a collective facepalm as a sheepish Severin vainly attempts to hide his burly frame beneath the table.

"Severin! What did you do this time?"

So I had this idea as soon as the vote for the marshal list started and I realized Severin was likely to get a baton. He hates what he views as 'useless window dressing,' so he tried to give it some practical use. Can't turn it into a pistol, it's too long for a sword hilt, but it's just about the right length for a small hand axe or hatchet. Plenty of assassination attempts so far in the quest, then the twins almost got blown up, so security around the palace is tight, and Nappy has entrusted Ney with security. That means I can play with the "asked to disarm, turns out a mountain of weapons" trope. I figure between his armored vest (replaced after getting torn up at Milan), the Minci saber (as described, it would be a backsword (single-edged cutting sword) about 1 kilo or 2ish pounds), his pistols (best info I could find is 4 pounds (a bit less than 2 kilos) each), and his assorted knives, he's carrying 15 kg (30-ish lbs). That's definitely something you'd notice not having on you. Severin loves giving people nicknames, and since the guards are Ney's men, he calls him Ney-Ney. Then I thought about how the marshals would react to the news in a meeting, and how such a meeting might come about.

Lannes is Nappy's pal, and he wants Nappy's France to succeed, especially in a Europe that has proven to be so fickle and hostile to France. So why not try and get the marshals, the best and brightest officers of France, to get along and be able to work together. He wouldn't want to pull the Empress away from vital matters of state for what amounts to a social gathering, so Therese is not specifically invited. Though even if she couldn't stay long, she would certainly be curious what the marshals are doing meeting up without her in what is basically her house.

Severin:

Also that moment where you have written the update… and it's basically a long law based on the GI bill.

Oh well, Hurray for creating a pension system, a system of soldiers being now identified by dog tags so they can now be identified in battle aftermaths so they can be sent home.… and afterwards.

And a bloated beuracracy that is in desprate need of fixing.

And much much more.

Well I say that the concert of Europe will need to be updated…

At least France will at the very least.

Also you are about to gain a few actions. Because I have a shit load of action for you to choose with the new year.

Edit: And one more thing:

There are a few actions that are now finally being added.

Interlude: A Land Fit for Heroes
Interlude: A Land Fit for Heroes:
December 12th, 1796

You had been waiting for weeks to get the chance to speak, but you had known that the Senate would pass it unanimously. After all, why wouldn't they? The language of the bill, while simple and otherwise hopeful, was ironed out into something they could see, without sacrificing the total tonal message that you had needed from it to spark the awe of the citizens, and give the men you fought with something they could know.

After all, the State should have no reason to care for its veterans, other than they do not commit crimes on citizens and that they are paid when the final days were up.

Abandoned and left to fend for themselves.

You did not believe that, for one moment. These men, those who have fought and were hurt and died for France, deserved to be honored. They deserved something for their efforts, besides a paycheck and a pat on the back before being left alone.

In a sense, it would be the perfect thing to do. If these men were not… you didn't know the right word. Different than they were before.

They were not the same men that left their homes to fight for their country.

Some could not sleep well. Others could not stand to be alone or in the dark, or feel loud sounds… Or just did not know any other life besides the soldier's life.

So many things were wrong with them. And they needed help.

"Are you proud, of what you have done?" Napoleon asked as he sat besides you, his eyes filled with a stream of tears.

"Yes. And I'm sure millions will believe that is is nothing short of good." You stated.

Reward:

France Gains National Spirt: Land For Heroes: The Soldiers of France, instead of being scorned, forgotten, and neglected, are now being cared for, getting the help, the money and in some cases, the education they need to move forward into their new lives. (WEalth of France goes down by 2, Certain actions now have a decreased DC. All Soldiers recruited into the Grand Armee from 1797 and prior will not automatically be Young Guard Ranked, and it will only take 1 battle for Experienced Soldiers to gain Vetrancy, 2 battles to Young Guard Rank, and 7 battles to be Old Guard. Disaster Roll for the Rest of the Game has been increased by 10 to show that the French's Handling of soldiers, their wounds, and how they are treated, not as cripples and outcasts, but as men who need help. Perhaps, it may start something new. Something Grand.)

Also, Gain Spirit:

Overburdened Bureaucracy: This… Mess and laws and so much more… have created a strain on the French Bureaucracy. It will take time, experience, and streamlining to stop the burden of Bureaucracy. (Certain Actions now have an increase of +20 to DC and Cost increase by 5.)

The Expectations of the State: The French Citizens, now seeing the French State affecting their lives and taking a great interest in their lives, will not be happy if the state does not continue to answer and help them in their problems. (If Disaster Roll is less than 25… The French people will start to riot and strike and protest the government for any given reason of the day. And if they are not properly dealt with... or struck down... Disaster roll will decrease by 5... every single turn until it is dealt with.)

AN: WELL... Now that is a big bonus.

Good thing it's been counter acted by bad things.

Also congratulations! You have started State Sponsered Healthcare!

So uh...

There was some more national spirits, particularly some that would basically make it impossible to go to war or go to Spain... but since we rolled so well, they were not required.

I would think that we would gain national spirits that actually make us more militaristic and patriotic.

Like expectations from the state could also translate to death for the state in hard times?
