First off, general things:
No
hard votes on clothing and whatnot just now, I just want a general idea of what direction everyone wants to go in, same deal for weapons. I'll deal with the nitty gritty fashion details later. Do feel free to post pictures for suggestions, though, or even just mention things, I'll aggregate them for a second vote later.
For everyone asking about
gun and shield, vote for Rooty Tooty Point N' Shooty right now, you can grab a shield from the second phase of weapon voting if you wish. Right now, I'm
not allowing write-ins- I just want an idea of what you all want in broad terms, so I don't have to flesh out a full weapon modding system for
every kind of weapon.
I
really am not kidding when I say I would rather throw myself into the sea and leave myself to Poseidon's mercy instead of doing that.
Also, for everyone giving ideas for the mechanised armour, you get an A for effort, but everything you're suggesting is way, way, way, way,
way off. The starting mechashift, I
only just realised that I have strayed from my own terminology here, too late to fix it,
fuck, is a full-arm piece that can be customised to have a blade or a gun, alongside a shield if you're willing to pay extra.
Iron Jaune's a while off just yet.
One of? I could easily believe our future nemesis's Semblance makes him uniquely suited to evading tracing and capture. But the authorities should have people with Semblances tailor made to finding mass murderers. And in a world where the fears of the public manifest as indiscriminate magical murder beasts, it seems like they'd be better at ending those responsible for publicly known multiple homicides.
There are people like Mercury's dad, but by all accounts his Semblance was utter and complete bullshit. Plus he seemed to be part of the accepted underworld rather than just a madman.
One of,
overall. Out of the whole list, he is considered
one of the worst, if not the flashiest one.
In this context, it's the equivalent of saying, 'Ed Gein is considered
one of America's worst serial killers, even though Samuel Little is confirmed to have killed 4 times as many people at best, and 46 times as many at worst, simply because of the
quality of his crimes over the quantity."
Lee's somewhat unique, not in the quality or quantity of his murders, but simply in how long he's gone to ground. He's been wandering the wilderness on his lonesome for as long as entire
companies of Huntsmen and Huntresses armed to the teeth can claim, and nobody entirely knows
how besides claiming Semblance bollocks and leaving it at that. This, alongside the fact that the token force looking for him can only survive for so long before their morale starts drawing more Grimm than they can deal with, means that the trail is random, ambles about the place with no rhyme or reason, and
regularly goes cold while they replace people in the field.
Remnant is a place where morale has an actual, tangible effect on a person or group's ability to function,
beyond just a dip in efficiency. You have a bad day in the wild, you're likely to get your face ripped off by the depression goblins that live
outside your brain.
Creme comes off as surprisingly bold and assured about her physical self for a woman of her age in this chapter (when put in the greater context that she wasn't trying to seriously flirt with Jaune, according to good ol' sword). Didn't really see it coming with what I remember of what's been previously written with her. Maybe it's just been too long since I read those parts?
I'll admit, before this update, Creme's character was less...
developed, than I necessarily liked writing in depth, since I have a terrible habit of not writing anything down for characters because I'm an indecisive little bitch who doesn't like having things set in stone, but Creme not giving a shit about people looking at her tail
has been established before.
She has a lot of nerves you shouldn't push, but she'll be damned if she'll let people looking down on her for being a Faunus be one of them. Beyond that, the promise of merciless teasing later does tend to be salve enough to let people do things they otherwise wouldn't.
this isnt actually used in response to anything
Ah, a line got cut out.
Fixed, thank you.
@Prok can Jaune, and by Jaune I mean Transistor, drizzle advanced math to Ironwood and the Polendinas (or possibly Remnant's academia in general)? Obviously not the kind of eldritch MATH that calculates energy into existence, but instead the actually useful proofs and algorithms that are the prelude to the prelude of MATH. 20 years ahead of the curve instead of 200.
If you ever actually pick up the damn phone and open a line of conversation with the Atlesian military, yeah, that's, pretty much what you'll be doing. You're not gonna be selling them weapon designs, if that's your worry, but, a way to streamline computer systems, predict turbulence, shore up the CCTS so one going down isn't the end of the whole system, that's all harmless enough.
I had way too much fun writing that, yeah.
I thought it might be too far, then I realised- who's gonna
care when the end result is fluffy tail?
... I
knew something was missing from there-
Jaune, for Turn()/immediate bludgeoning purposes, does grab the Transistor by the hilt whenever conflict is an immediate possibility, simply out of ingrained reflex during combat, like every Hunter who doesn't want to become Grimm food. I, being the lovable sleep-deprived
clod that I am, managed to
entirely skip over that fact there. Fixed, thank you.
Beacon is a combat school, I sorta doubt that they have a drama club when it's that specialized.
Beacon does have non-combat classes, because, combat school aside, it
is a place of education. They still have a responsibility to make sure everyone comes out the other end as well-rounded human beings with a respectabe base of knowledge and skills, so that they can function in society
outside of being supersoldiers that become absolute social outcasts due to not...
actually having a personality beyond their ability to kill Grimm.
@Prok do Process (and/or Transistor) have souls? Can they have Aura awakened?
My major problem with this is being too close to slavery. Ancilliary problem is that the previous problem might cause Faunus Rights Activists to decide to come stab a bitch.
On the other hand I'm starting to realize that Jaune's protagonist lifestyle means he may not be the best parent/rolemodel for Process.
Being the product of a single soul does not preclude the development of its own.
I will say, right now, that there are
very specific boxes that need to be ticked before either of them could begin to develop a soul of their own, and right now, between them, they don't tick
any of them.
You might find out what they are at some point, but it's not gonna be for a while.
The transistor has math bullshit to fly. Couldn't Jaune make a bigger, stronger version of it and strap it on a car to make a sci-fi racer?
Only if we're strapping it to a Trans Am.
First, Yellow Line fucking slaps, second, I distinctly remember mentioning a 'surfboard option' directly after the first round of upgrades.
You can, and most likely
will, turn the Transistor into a hoverboard at some point.
Ask and I shall provide:
Jesus Christ nailed to the fucking cross why-
I feel a
bone deep responsibility to veto this just so Jaune can hold onto the few fragments of dignity he keeps in the kangaroo pouch of his bunny onesie.
Thankfully, I'm not a responsible person, and I've not intention of setting a good example for myself now.
Anyway, I apologise for not doing my usual thing of announcing a vote closing time, but it's also been quite a bit longer than usual. Voting is closed, and new duds wins, while Sword N' Board and Formshift Armour are tied.
Someone roll me a 1d2.
