[HALP] me! (WORM quest)

Regardless of whatever backstory y'all decide on, if we want to improve Taylor's sanity the fastest (and maybe safest) way it would be to become an older sibling figure to her. Fixing her brain and triggering her won't fix her sanity.
If her brain is fixed, we could try sending her the Danny dream again. Her father supporting her should be more helpful than a new acquaintance doing so.

We could always clear out the ships in the bay.

Arrange for them to win the lottery.

ADC Coil into using his holdings to provide work.

Have an unlimited tinker host/avatar to work with Dragon and build factories to mass produce understandable tinkertech.

Do Lisa's canon plan, buy up some land and place a portal to an empty Earth. This one would probably require Lisa's help and Coils holdings to kickstart.

And if by some miracle we convinced them, thinkers exist. Precognition and pericogs, Watchdog, Contessa Clairvoyant and Doormaker.

You mean all those people whose powers don't work on Shards because no one has powers who work on Shards. Literally it's the Clairvoyant and Doormaker who are the biggest step there, and Cauldron will explain it away to themselves that it's some Earth with a parahuman who can hide the planet from them. There's no way they'd assume they know of every Earth out there, because it'd take more time than they have available

But please let's not actually pretend to be her older sister. We can't retcon reality.
I mean, we're not saying we are, though. We're saying we're from an alternate Earth, so sorry to bother you, but you're the closest thing to family we have here. A way to get our foot in the door, since Taylor, you know, is paranoid.

I still can't tell if you're trolling me, that's how put out I am right now.
And now you're finally starting to realize why I've been using invisitext from page 58, and what this Quest is all about.
Implied catgirl.
Actual Slimegirl.
Genderswaped Gallant.
Negotiator is a Sapient Shard with Her own host's future memories.
Heavy implications that Lung saying "Flat is Justice" could be an actual possibility.
Perry the @&#^ Platypus.

While some humor is fun, I'd really prefer to avoid going all-out crack with this quest, especially if it feels morally wrong. I get that this quest is just in the prologue and that other peoples' moral boundaries are different than mine, but that wasn't the impression I got of where the quest is going.

I like the older sister plan. Assuming we're going to do dreams, we're going to show up as an Avatar, and we're not going to lie, then we should consider showing up in her dreams before the Avatar appears. I imagine it would stop her from losing as much SAN when she suddenly has an extra-dimensional 'sister' (or whatever public cover story we use) shows up on her doorstep (because that's just weird, and a slightly older likely peak human Taylor could easily look like Annette). In a dream, with a less sudden arrival, she'd probably take the news better if she already knows.

I wonder if we should try to go shard-hopping to Mantellum first, though - Armsmaster > Triumverate -> Custodian -> Mantellum should work. (I don't trust PtV; for all I know, Contessa is PtV, so maybe try to not make her intentionally Path against us.) Assuming that Mantellum doesn't block us from finding him, we could give Taylor a precognition block. Ideally, we code it so only her memories are blocked out, not her actions. It can be explained away as her bird-brain if anyone does a proper study, and stops Contessa or Coil from noticing us, but also from picking our brains. Might be useful if we start telling Taylor important stuff.

And now I'm even less sure if you're trolling me.

Sure, thinkers can't see shards, but you want to do this as an avatar.

You're assuming Cauldron is just going to buy that there is an Earth capable of sending people anywhere, that they've never seen before, when they were literally the first people with inter dimensional capabilities or even knowledge of multiple dimesnions.

You're assuming they're going to buy that this theoretical cape an hide from Contessa. Eidolon, Zion, Endbringers can all hide because Eden restrictions on seeing shards and such.
There was only a single cape, a case 53, that could beat her power. When she was inside his range.
Catgirls, slime girls, gender bending, platypus, Negotiator. These things I can accept.

Your plan breaks my suspension of disbelief. I would need Vhal to enter this discussion and say, "This is the best idea yet, totally flawless and impeccable, great work Grand Mage. Let me rewrite all my plans based on this idea!" becore I could believe this could end in anything other than a hilarious trainwreck burning down our web of lies.

I legitimately cannot imagine this plan not backfiring horribly. And then Negotiator would laugh at us. Actually rolling on the floor, gut busting laughter as she struggled to say something about our mind boggling incompetence.

And then Zion would show up look at us like we were the worst sort of fool, and then restrict us worse than PtV.

Although the look on his face might be worth it. It would be so ridiculous it would be beyond him what we could possibility be trying to achieve.

This is reasonable and could work well.

I'm only down for anything resembling this plan if we bring Taylor in on the conspiracy in the dream and then ask her to play along in real life. And I would only want to vaguely resemble at best.

Also reality retcons sound much more like magic than psionics to me.

One worry I have about sending our avatar to live with Taylor and Danny is money, especially since it sounds like we're aiming for the avatar to be able to go to school with Taylor instead of working. I know someone mentioned having the avatar show up with a suitcase of gold stolen from Coil or something like that, but how does Danny explain the boost to his finances and what do we do if Lisa takes out Coil first?

We rig the lottery.

Also whatever happened to Perry and Sir Bearington. Those are great, hilarious plans for avatars. That only require relatively minor changer and stranger powers. Are they not hilarious enough for you?

I though SV was gonna be quiet tonight. I sat down to watch Two Towers extended blu Ray, and here I am an hour later paused on the first scene while I argue with people on the internet.

I'm pretty sure you're trolling me, but there's just enough effort and sincerity in your posts that I'm questioning my capability to read sarcasm in text form.

Rig the lottery or scratchcards? We have a form of omniscience within our host's vicinity, or something like it - it should be the same with our Avatar, right? Research better senses if we must. I've never bought a scratchcard or tried the lottery, but surely something should let us or Taylor cheat. If shops let you choose which scratchcard you get, omniscience may let us read under the scratch material and choose a winning one. Good senses with a decent range should let us cheat at something, right?

We'd have to do it in a dream. I'd shards can't detect what we talk about in dreams then thinkers defintely can't. Vhals already said every update to beware precognition when talking directly.

He will if Taylor comes home with a winning number.

Probably we could ask Negotiator how to set it up.

I'm not sure how well the lottery plan will work, but if we do manage to pull it off, I suggest that we go for a moderate amount of cash, definitely less than a million. I've read that a lot of people who win the lottery actually end up regretting it. I think it's because part of the deal for getting the money is that you have to let them publicize WHO won the money so everyone knows who to target/scam/ask if they want to get money. Brockton Bay has a lot of villains.

Ah, completely forgot about that, though you'd think in America Bet they have learned better by now. Still, it's up to Vhal how the law works. And we can always ask Negotiators opinion.

I am trolling the entire thread by suggesting specifically crack ideas that I have worked out how to implement.

As I have said before, I don't actually want an Avatar. I'd much rather just do things Shard-side. If we need an Avatar, I'm all for ADCing Coil and just letting Tattletale know Coil is no longer Coil (by having Negotiator make it clear) and she's free to leave or stay employed as she wishes.

Then just use Calvert's wealth and influence to assist people without being obvious. The subtle hand works best. We could, for example, just fork over the starting cash to buy up and salvage the Boat Graveyard, employing the DWU for years and probably still turning a profit.

Invest money in Winslow to lower gang recruitment and violence and have that incidentally help Taylor by having bullying dealt with and bad teachers replaced.

We have lots of options.

OR, or, and hear me out. We burn Winslow to the ground and salt the earth. Place is near enough cursed, it's the only way to be sure. I bet they built it on an Indian burial ground.

I'm down for ADCing or killing Coil and letting Negotiator and Lisa handle that. I still want her and Taylor on the inner circle. It depends on how much Negotiators been able to work with her.

And have Lisa get Taylor into Arcadia or Clarendon or even Immaculata. I'm not sure Winslow is salvageable.

I'm fact, we make sure to record the burning of Winslow in detail so we can show it to Taylor afterwards. That'll boost her San right up.

And then all the kids that went there get shipped around and some cause her issues. Better to invest a lot of money in it, improve her life a bit, and let her dad transfer her to Arcadia once the money we inject in the DWU comes in. Leave Winslow as a jail for Emma, actually report Sophia's behavior, and. . . I dunno, let Madison Trigger and do whatever.

How good is [Basic Host Modification]? Is it good enough to work as regular shapeshifting without significant drawbacks? Because if it is good, we could turn our Avatar into Coil when we need to be Coil, and be the AdminSisTaylor (On another note, this is totally what I'm calling the older sister Avatar) the rest of the time. Dude's already secretive, and his mercs are loyal enough - impersonate him properly and they probably won't care why the boss doesn't come into the base as much anymore.
