such a close vote much tension I see
I wouldn't mind it being inferior as much if, again, freaking Sidereals didn't get a better port than we did.Yeah all the infernal ports of the Solar charms are flat out inferior.
Infernals were a last minute add-in and it shows.I wouldn't mind it being inferior as much if, again, freaking Sidereals didn't get a better port than we did.
shrug*Yeah all the infernal ports of the Solar charms are flat out inferior.
eh its definitely badly ported seeing as sids beat them at stuff infernals used to be. Exaltations can't be made lesser, or degrade ,or destroyed afterall just changed. Not to mention infernals straight up don't have some things put in like their own super martial arts.shrug*
I am fine with Infernals not being as good at being heroic god kings as solars are, thats their shtick. As long as Infernals have their own area where they reign supreme.
Infernals can't learn sidereal martial arts?eh its definitely badly ported seeing as sids beat them at stuff infernals used to be. they don't seem to have those things ported at all? Could just be a misunderstanding on my part though.Infernals can't learn sidereal martial arts?
Are you referring to infernal monster style?
Sidereal martial arts, the highest form of martial arts in exalted can't be learned by infernals (if I am remembering correctly) because their primordial essence rejects it. (actually for balance reasons ha!)they don't seem to have those things ported at all? Could just be a misunderstanding on my part though.
exalted martial arts period I mean. Also a lot of general exalted charms seem not to have been ported over.Sidereal martial arts, the highest form of martial arts in exalted can't be learned by infernals (if I am remembering correctly) because their primordial essence rejects it. Something about how since sidereal martial arts reflect and embody an aspect of reality, and infernal charms are reflections of their own and the Yozis own reality...
sidereal martial arts just kind of turn into normal infernal charms?
Once again assuming I remember correctly.
Sid martial arts are cool though. Carmen Sands of Ego and all that.
What are you hoping for specifically? Also yeah. A ton of shit is missing sadly. The Yozi charms were a lot of fun.exalted martial arts period I mean. Also a lot of general exalted charms seem not to have been ported over.
No, all Solaroids in general can learn Siddie-Arts, though only if tought by a Sidereal personally, not indirectly.Sidereal martial arts, the highest form of martial arts in exalted can't be learned by infernals (if I am remembering correctly) because their primordial essence rejects it. yes I mean yes. What are you hoping for specifically? Also yeah. A ton of shit is missing sadly. The Yozi charms were a lot of fun.
What do you mean by exalted martial arts? There were three "levels"
Terrestrial martial arts
Celestial martial arts
and
Sidereal martial arts
Scaped from the Tvtopes page. No, all Solaroids in general can learn Siddie-Arts, though only if tought by a Sidereal personally, not indirectly.
Infernals are not exempt from this, though they propably would have the hardest time finding a teacher, unless there's a Sidereal-Akuma somewhere out there.
Cool. This is ex vs wod though. Not sure which edition thats supposed to cleave to.
nerfed so as to not destroy everything but the very most op of beings in wod like caine, lilith, the wyrm and their siblings, oblivion itself, mages with 10 dots, etc etc. Honestly essence by its nature is self propagating as far as I know it does not know stuff like shortages honestly wish it hadn't been described as essence shortage so much as reality limiting you actively destroying anything after a certain point or something like that.Cool. This is ex vs wod though. Not sure which edition thats supposed to cleave to.
There is only one Magic MA (SMA) and nothing saying that Infernals cannot learn from Sidereals. OP even said so.Cool. This is ex vs wod though. Not sure which edition thats supposed to cleave to.
Barely worth discussing for now.Cool. This is ex vs wod though. Not sure which edition thats supposed to cleave to.
Well also could literally just be in other realities. I don't think dp likes the idea of dresden files infinite multiverse being a thing like canon though.Barely worth discussing for now.
There propably aren't any Siddies around, if there are they might not have SMAs yet and if they have they'd have no reason to teach us.
I mean the archive probably knows some if any records have survived. We know the archive has had at minimum all recorded human knowledge in the last 5000+ years oh and everything not wiped from the mind of the previous archives which is a lot. In fairness though creation could literally be multiple reality iterations ago heck it could be more than mere reality iterations it could be like a neighboring reality and multiple reality iterations ago.Hm. Maybe the gods of the east know sidereal martial arts? Or at least equivalent.
Jade court vampires Bodhisattva and higher?
I didn't read that so closely.Scaped from the Tvtopes page.
Why can't Infernals learn Sideral Martial Arts? Solars can learn them with a tutor, Abyssals can learn them with a tutor, so why can't Infernals learn them with a tutor?
@Artemis1992 I am far from an expert however. So if you say nay ill consider myself educated.
- Word of God is that Solars and Abyssals can learn them because their thing is (in part) excellence though Abilities, and since SMA is based on Martial Arts, it's part of their purview. Infernals, on the other hand, emulate the Yozis, and are unconnected to Abilities. The only reason they can practice normal styles when the Yozis can't even do that is because the sheer power of their exaltation.
- Okay, that make sense.(Note to self, make expensive essence 8 or higher homebrew charm to let infernal exalts learn SMA with tutor.)
- Manual of Exalted Power: Infernals says that the reason GSPs can't use SMA is because SMA requires a connection to Creation that GSPs just don't have (it gets burned away by the vitriolic power of the tainted Exaltation, or something). A GSP using Black Mirror Shintai on a Sidereal gets to use SMA, though.
- In Ink Monkeys, each type of Akuma gets a special Infernal Monster Charm that only they (and not GSPs) can learn; the Sidereal one lets the character exist partially within fate, and allows for mixing IMS with Sidereal Martial Arts; it all but explicitly states that it allows them to regain access to their SMA.
- Question was about Green Sun Princes. Sidereal akumas do not lose their SMA, otherwise they would be too easy to uncover.
As mentioned, I am not an that familiar with the system. I just remembered hearing it looked and that came up.I didn't read that so closely.
So when the Martial Arts book talks about Celestial Exalted in general, I just assumed it's about all of them, not including Infernals.
