Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] An Artifact Forge, reducing the cost of Splendors by ● to a minimum of ● (●●●●● to ●●●●, ●●●● to ●●● etc...)

The option of taking Mikaboshi's attempt to make Essence-wielders for her own is very funny, but so is taking his reputation as an arms-dealer.

I remember there being more, but this is the only part I was able to find:

@DragonParadox I remember you ruling away mage Awakening Effects at least in charms. Do I remember correctly? And does this affect flowering of the soul splendor?

You could basically build a splendor whose core function is altering the body and soul of mortals to allow them to wield wizard magic, it would be a lot less inspiration and a lot more magical bio-tech and also because mages in this world do not have an avatar the training of someone just handed their powers as an adult would be quite tricky. You would need either someone of Bob's skills at magic or an actual wizard to lead them through the first training exercises in this new much more generalized magic

[X] A Proving Ground, allowing for the improvement of Mortal Talents, potentially even the Awakening of Essence

Bet we get the forge and we use it once then forget about it for the rest of the quest

I honestly wanted to do one of the first projects those armors that were designed for Molly, Lydia and Daniel, who really need it and I really don't feel comfortable with your plan to give imortality to almost everyone without even an advantage for us. But as long as we use the Forge I'll be happy.
Oh, armors are the first thing to build, yes. I would say the order is something like this:
1) Lydia's armor - she is a lot more squishy than Molly ie
2) Molly's armor
3) Booster and extender for Tiffany's abilities. She can heal agg, so I think this is more important to her than armor
4) Armor for Tiffany. I need to design that, and it's probably going to be a symbiotic creature.
5) Lydia's weapon
6) Booster (and armor) for Olivia.
7) Everything else

Daniel becomes a priority if he gets the Dawn exaltation.

Still might be useful, and it being biotech let's Tiffany participate

And the problem is we cannot grant awakened essence, that the PG can. That the acquirement ablity to learn MA, and Sorcery.
Even if we can awaken a mortal's Essence, their pool will be so small as to be virtually useless in the timeline of the quest. ExWoD just doesn't have the mote regen of Creation.

That seems pretty unlikely, since it's a (giant) cost reducer for an action we do all the time anyway. It's not like we're going to decide to hunt a Methuselah instead of going to Boston, when we want to craft something expensive.

Also, question for anyone who knows this rule system better than I do: would there be any scope to make something that would be a five-dot Splendour even with this forge (i.e. a theoretical six-dot Splendour)? Or is the power/reach of a five-dot already so grand that it can't really be exceeded anyway?

Not that that's necessarily something we'd want/need to do - it feels like it'd be approaching "reshape the entire setting" level - but I'm curious.

Depends on what we are allowed to do. The Age of Legends definitely had things that exceed 5 dot splendors of ExvsWoD. Anything beyond 5 dots is definitely dipping into those past glories. Or forging new ones, I guess.

So far we have one confirmed on possible project like this - Manse raising. Ancient sorcery to guide an exaltation would also be this, I think.

These arguments convince me. Switching to the forge. Especially since the peach tree can be further streamlined and improved following the rulings on being able to sacrifice base ability points (which don't transfer anyway) for freebie points. And with Tiffany helping, we might even improve it further. Yeah, OK. Forge it is, and make the tree as one of the first projects
It might be worth seeing if we're strictly locked to Arcana or if there's any potential for cross charm interaction. If we have a template for a new type of supernatural we defined like Olivia making trees that transform people into one would be neat.

Crafting is a constant in quest but high grade materials will always be a limited resource. Using the Forge to craft helps circumvent that issue and we can water travel over to Boston as needed. I'm not seeing how we'd only use it once.

The issue with the forge is that Mikaboshi tried twisting it. I worry that by not having u twisted pure proving grounds, we open a way for Mikaboshi or his ilk to make one themselves. @DragonParadox isthat a realistic concern? Does making the pure Proving Grounds somehow stake the claim for such a type of things?

No, if he finds the conditions to make one himself he can make one regardless. Still Molly has no reason to assume he has the skills to make one from scratch.

Anyway Vote closed.

Yeah, that's a good idea. And Tiffany would also help here, I think.
It's unfortunate that we probably wont be able to do this next turn. Accounting for our equipment wishlist and debts there probably won't be enough reagents.

Edit: As an aside, we should probably start on taking control of the city ASAP. The forge should have a sizable number of guards at all times, the closest dragon nests should be occupied by our guys, and some amount of mortal business assets to help hide it all just to start.

Not a fan of that. Odin wanted us out of Chicago for some reason. I'm wary of leaving it as our main base of operations. We can move between the two easily enough as well with water travel.
Or he wanted us in Boston, for reasons that have become more clear in recent days.

I'm inclined to keep both, but I think we have the opportunity to blitz a takeover now in Harvard that we won't have later so it should take some more of our focus while we settle in.

My read on Odin's purpose here is that he was initially afraid of a loose exalt doing whatever she wanted in a city as important and volatile as Chicago is from the supernatural perspective. Which is fair, if we were more impulsive we could potentially kick off multiple new global/interdimensional conflicts without even going through a full tank of gas.

Given all the business we've done and how careful we're being to work our way to helping without blowing everything up - as frustrating as that can be at times - I think he should relax a bit.

Thank you for taking the trouble.
Oh, armors are the first thing to build, yes. I would say the order is something like this:
Nope. They're unnecessary.
Lash can upgrade Lydia to Stamina 5 with Lore of Flesh, and at that point Lydia is walking around with
  • Soak 5 at base
  • Soak 9 for free(+Marble Skin)
  • Soak 14 for 1m(Marble Skin + Steelskin )
  • Soak 20 for 2m. (Marble Skin + Steelskin + Impervious Skin of Stone)

She doesnt need armor, and that slot and the reagent is better saved for something else.
The most important thing there is first Tiffany taking advantage of the Arcane Forge to buff Lydia and herself. Then its Molly building a 4-dot Tiffany booster.

Chicago has our first base and where our family lives, will always be important. Its problem is that it is already too full, with the city being divided between the two fairy courts and the White Court, and I don't want to spend time on the hostilities between the three of them (which we are currently on good terms with the leadership, Long Live Diplomacy!) if we want to expand there and take their space. Especially since we already have enough enemies that we barely have time to deal with as it is.

In Boston, on the other hand, we will be the only and greatest supernatural power, being able to expand without stopping, there we go to college to create contacts with the future leaders of the USA, we could create vast businesses to employ and hide our servants, we would have a selection of dragon nests to use or even sacrifice if necessary, in addition to the prestige of controlling such a symbolic and important city in the USA.

We would end up diverting our attention from Chicago anyway, but of course we will never let someone else take our territory, we will just stop expand more.

Not actually true.

The White Court is here; the Skavis HQ is in Boston. The White Council will be here. Other entities are around like Odin's people.
And Boston is a significantly smaller city than Chicago to boot; roughly a quarter the size IIRC. We'll have holdings here, but our center of gravity will still be Chicago.

I don't think it's as inefficient as you're presenting it to be. There's something to be said for the mote savings and the immunity to basic weapons helping against mook spam.

Molly's crafting should be present in her kit to a greater extent than a bodysuit she made like a week after exalting.

On the reagent cost; we can get 1 dot reagent donations and use them for 2 dot builds with Tiffany and Lydia. That's enough to cover a booster and start armor before we get into our other supplies.
