They do. Honestly, I did not see the outpouring of reward XP being this... voluminous when balancing. The game will get a patch down the road, so be prepared for that.

When you say you can earn extra stuff but doing thing Ves you shouldn't be surprised that there is an outpouring of such. People like being rewarded. So whenever you make a game system that has people getting tangible things that can be spend on making a character stronger or their actions more successful you either need to take it into account or accept the fact that your story is going to be about an overpowered protagonist. Because people will throw content at you.

I mean once any skill or attrribute is beyond the lowest levels, it will be hard for omake and art XP to matter. Especially as we collect a shitton of techniques each of which need to get to expert minimum.

Youthful Ino by Katsuragi (Canon)
"So, how do I look?" Ino managed to look smug despite the situation that she's found herself in. She'd acquitted herself remarkably well in her spar, well enough that Gai and Lee had praised her youthfulness and rewarded her for her efforts. Said reward was, of course, a very youthful training suit. Say what you want about them, they were ideal for their purposes... but you were willing to sacrifice a touch of effectiveness for style reasons.

That said, you do find yourself at a momentary loss for words. With Gai, other than the suit being a very effective tool and general assault on the eyes, you'd been young enough with your initial exposure to it that it didn't click as weird and you hadn't actually made a big mental deal about specific details. The specific details in this case being that the damned this was, indeed, skin tight.

"Um." Your brain continues it's rebooting process as you curse having to experience puberty for the second time. The only saving grace is that you don't really remember the first go. Given Ino's smirk, she knows exactly what's going on in your head, regardless of your attempts to come up with a save.

Your supreme social mind reaches for an out from this situation and spouts the first thing that comes to mind.

"I'm sure our friends will be surprised with your new taste in clothing." You drawl.

The smirk, and whatever she was ready to say, is quickly wiped away with a look of surprise which in turn quickly transforms into calculation.

"You wouldn't dare."

"Oh? It wouldn't be too difficult. Just inform a few people and the pressure will build until you have to give in..."

"Dai." She states flatly. "I said that you wouldn't dare, not that you couldn't. Do try to be a dear and keep up, would you?" Her smirk comes back. "If you so much as mention this episode, I'll mention your own and it wouldn't be any easier for you, would it? Hansom, charismatic, always carefully put together and dressed Daisuke in one of these." She pulls at the collar.

You mull this over for a moment, imagining the reaction from your classmates. The ones that are afraid of you wouldn't say anything openly, but they would talk behind your back. Your carefully cultivated image would suffer cracks that would take you months to repair, and there wouldn't be a class reunion for the rest of your life that it wouldn't get brought up. With some effort you think that you could probably make the outfit one that's respected, but that would require years of dedication that would be better spent on.. not doing that.

You nod once. "We have an agreement then, neither of us mentions our mutual experiences beyond ourselves?"

She returns the nod. "Agreed. Though you will have to pay. After all, I've shown you mine, you'll have to show me yours..."

You manage to keep your mental groan from having any visual display, but damned her, she knows anyways. The next couple of years are going to be hell.

Honestly? I don't see why it's so problematic. No need to modify the system as it is - just limit what the XP can be spent on. Or simply be more exacting about how much XP you're handing out.

Though, Pittauro's patch also works:
an acceptable patch might be: no raising attributes to pinnacle and techniques to master without narrative reasons, like for above elite skills
We could use XP to raise skills and arts, but techniques would require narrative choices and On-Screen training to get to those levels.

I mean, the amount of Art that's been made is a tad surprising, but Art and Omakes show how much the readers/voters appreciate the quest, and want to contribute to the fun we're all having.

Sure, the XP incentives are a factor, but it's not the sole reason for why we make art or omake. We make them because this quest is fun, the characters are awesome, and we want to add in with more than just our votes. Isn't that a good thing?

I mean once any skill or attrribute is beyond the lowest levels, it will be hard for omake and art XP to matter. Especially as we collect a shitton of techniques each of which need to get to expert minimum.
This is very true...

The Path of Nobility and the Cherishment of a Mother by Enetious
The story needs some more mother's love. @Vesvius

Manami was absolutely elated by Daisuke's progress in and outside of the Academy. Her beloved son was quickly surpassing even children from distinguished shinobi clans from all of his skill and the hard work he put into his studies and training. She knew her son was destined for greatness, not at all meant to be held down by a mere civilian school as the late samurai of this household had implied he should be. There would be times when she would just watch Daisuke go through his katas, throwing shuriken and kunai at the dummies she had bought for him, and practicing other shinobi arts in the backyard. She found it absolutely adorable when, as a young child and when he was first going to the academy, Daisuke would call the dummies "Mr. Straw"s and "Mr. Rock"s, and it made her squee a little bit inside (only inwardly of course, as she's a proper lady).

When Daisuke began to imitate her noble mannerisms and imperial attitude it only made her dote on Daisuke even more whenever he took some time off of training to spend time with her in the house. It had been a while since she'd refined Daisuke's fan-tapping technique, and although Daisuke mimicked her mannerisms in some ways, there was only so much you can learn from simple observation. And so, one day, after Daisuke returned from the Academy, she called him over to start on his first lessons on learning the ways of nobility.
***
Daisuke walked into the main living room not exactly knowing what to expect. His mother had rather abruptly asked that he wait here to start receiving personal lessons from her. When he asked what he was to be taught he only got a knowing grin in response.

As he sat down, his mother soon followed with a nicely inlaid wooden box and a few books stacked on top of it. She set it down and divided the items upon the table before them, before she sat down across from him.

"Daisuke, I think it is time that I lecture you on how to properly act with and understand nobility," his mother said with a smile. And so she did.

For the next few weeks, in between his personal training and hanging out with his friends, his mother would instruct him on the intricacies of nobility, how to act imperiously, the mindset involved when acting as such without being rude to others and those he cares about, and the ins-and-outs of how to interact with nobility (particularly what she knew of Iron's nobility, how to not accidentally disrespect Nobles, and how to not make a fool of himself around them). Daisuke could firmly say that he now knew the best method of sipping at a cup of tea without making himself appear either haughty or "barbaric" to people of higher status, as mother put it. She also made sure to make him read up on the current political situation based within the Land of Fire, particularly the relationship between Konohagakure, its shinobi, and the Fire Daimyo and his courts of noblemen and noblewomen.

"You will never know when exactly you'll need to know the current political climate, but you can always exploit this knowledge to your benefit when the situation arises," his mother had told him when he asked about it.

Then came the hidden technique that came with the territory of being imperialistic, or as his mother says. How to move like a noble. She'd reassured him that he needn't keep up the guise of these movements while in or expecting danger or on missions, but rather while in relative safety and in public to give himself a particular air around him much like the gracefulness his mother always exudes. Where to place his feet on a particular terrain, in what way to address people of lower, equal, or higher status while maintaining this air of nobility, how to seem important and graceful to the common person and nobles alike while betraying nothing of what emotions he didn't want to reveal. He did it all, and he could just about glide across the ground while walking normally now that he'd mastered this technique.

Later on while practicing his physical skills, he was surprised to notice that his exact control over his body in and out of combat had increased as a result of his mother's training. Ino had even commented on how graceful and silent his movements were now while walking to and from the academy (she probably recognized this more easily due to her familiarity of his mother and how she acts, he reasoned). Still, it gave him a certain amount of pride at his progress in learning mother's techniques.

When he arrived back from one of his sparring matches with Ino later in the day, he found his mother eagerly awaiting him in the hallway entrance, with an intricately wrapped cloth package in her hands.

His mother smiled wide when he entered. "Now that you've mastered the basics of what I've had to teach you, I requisitioned a present for you, Daisuke." She giddily slipped the cloth package into his hands before awaiting him to open it.

Daisuke unwrapped the package and found within an ornate bamboo box some oddly shaped and angled white ornaments. His mother spoke up.

"Come, Daisuke, I'll show you how to wear them. These ornaments are worm by many noblemen in Iron, and the material is quite expensive but well worth the cost to acquisition due to its durability." She was right, the ornaments were of a solid, non-reflective and perfectly carved, smooth material. His mother led him to the bathroom and showed him how to set them up within his hair, until he got it down himself and they both saw the finished product.

It made him look more distinguished and regal, he decided. His mother staring at the finished product with glistening stars in her eyes and a wide smile, looking at him as if to burn the picture of this scene into memory.

"They look perfect, Daisuke!" she exclaimed, nearly losing her aristocratic presence for a moment. "You don't need to feel that your obligated to wear them of course, but whenever you feel you need that extra touch of nobility to your image, just remember the gift your dear mother had given to you."

And he would. He would always treasure a gift from mother, and it was times like when she trained him and right now that he was reminded that he truly had an amazing mother that loved him dearly. And now, after all of this, he makes sure to spend just a bit more time with mother, helping her around the house, going out for groceries with her, and occasionally learning a thing or two from her.

Daisuke is a young teenager (preteen?) That is freaking out about the blow to his carefully cultivated image and going full end of the world with it, as that age range is want to do.

Wouldn't that make the fangirls excited? You did say it was skintight, skintight outfits work both ways.
I mean, there are fangirls for Sasuke... I can't help but imagine if there are also Daisuke fangirls too?

And what if some of those fangirls are the type that write Real-Person Fanfics? Could you imagine what those would be like?

I can picture some of them being fantasies about being caught in some kind of complcated love-triangle or something.

Others... well, they both have "uke" in their names... :p

What would the xp reward be for a mod for something that is about this game? Or a game based on this? Just wondering what that would be considered. Have no intentions on this personally but it might be good to know for future reference
