"I am Satomura Daisuke," you start. "I am 13 years old, and I have a close relationship with my training dummies that lets me call on them for aid in battles."
Your words are met by a nod of approval from Kurenai-sensei, a groan of annoyance from Mariko- though you're pretty sure you would have gotten that no matter what you said- and a look of frustration from Kiba. "So yeah," the Inuzuka drawls. "How do you do that anyway?"
You shrug absently. "That's a trade secret," you deflect. "I don't ask you how you use Fang Over Fang now, do I?"
"Everyone knows how I do Fang Over Fang!" Kiba argues. "It's an established technique with years of history! But you just pull dummies out of you-" he stops and glances at Sensei. "-butt! And you keep doing it!"
Mariko snorts. "It's not that hard to figure out," she cuts in. "His Momma buys him whatever he want. He probably just has seals sewn into his jacket and he keeps having her buy him stupid dummies because he thinks that normal substitution isn't fancy enough for him."
There a few things you could say to that but Kiba doesn't give you the chance. He keeps steamrolling ahead. "No! No that's not it!" he argues. "You always avoided Daisuke in spars so maybe you missed it, but he does it even when he doesn't have the stupid jacket on! It makes no sense!"
"Excuse me, stupid jacket?" you cut in. "You're one to talk. At least my hoodie isn't line with fur! Or maybe that's just from the dogs that live in yours! Brush it out every once in a while! It isn't that hard!"
"He's not wrong," Mariko adds. "But I still wouldn't listen to any advice coming from someone with a rainbow lining in their jacket! That thing is an eyesore!"
You roll your eyes. "Why are you even looking inside my hoodie? Do you think I'm hiding low-fat cookies in here or something? It isn't bothering you at all so leave it alone!"
Mariko's response is more caustic words, which brings Kiba back in, and despite yourself you can't help but throw in a few jibes of your own. Throughout the byplay, Kurenai-sensei doesn't say a word. She just sits calmly on her bench, face locked in a pleasant mask as she waits for you all to argue yourselves out. When you finally do, she clears her throat, drawing your attention back to her. "Now that that is out of your system," she says matter of factly, "We can continue."
The three of you flush under the not-so-subtle rebuke, but Kurenai-sensei doesn't seem to notice. She just continues. "Thank you for your introductions. They were… illuminating. With those done, there is one matter of business we must attend to before we begin our official duties as Shinobi tomorrow."
Around you, everyone's ears perk up. One thing left to accomplish? "And what's that?" you ask.
"Nothing too strenuous," Kurenai-sensei assures you. "And nothing that should prove too much of a challenge, especially not for the Rookie of the Year, a Prodigy of the Inuzuka Clan, and the most accomplished Genjutsu user of the class. It is… a party."
You do not like the way she said party.
"A party?" Mariko parrots. "The first thing that we have to do as new shinobi is… go to a party?"
Kurenai-sensei nods as if she's pleased that Mariko's so quick on the uptake. "Exactly. Tonight, at nine o'clock, we will meet back here for a party. And each of us will provide something. It could be food, it could be music… whatever you choose. It be whatever you so desire. But you will provide something."
"Ooookay," Kiba replies. "That shouldn't be too hard! But why are-"
"Because," Kurenai-sensei cuts him off. "This won't be just any party. This party is going to be key for your advancement as Shinobi… and very important to see if you keep those headbands you're so proud of."
"What?!" You all yell in unison.
"Keep our headbands?!" Mariko sputters. "But I earned mine! I don't know about these guys but I got mine fair and square and-"
As she protests, Kiba is talking over her. "You can't- I mean what- Do you think you-"
With this much noise, you can't even hear yourself think. With a minor effort of chakra you coat your hands and clap them in a poor imitation of Iruka-sensei's favorite classroom-silencing technique. The resulting thunderclap of sound isn't up to his standards but it still manages to slice through all the noise. Your teammates turn to you, stunned, and you take advantage of the silence. "Kurenai-sensei? Could you explain?"
"Of course," Sensei answers with a pleased smile on her face. You're starting to think she'd be wearing that smile no matter what was going on around her. Sentient Cheese Graters could be falling from the sky and attempting to murder you all and Sensei would still be smiling that same smile. "Honestly, your graduating class produced too many prospective shinobi. It's to be expected from a novice teacher like Umino Iruka. He's too soft to fail his pupils after all, no matter how much they may deserve it."
"So we, the Jonin-Sensei, have been asked to test everyone's readiness to be shinobi. Some of the jonin prefer to test strength, endurance, or skill. But those things can all be taught. No, I want to test your foresight and your ability to plan. So you will all bring something to our little party tonight- and if the party is not a success, you will fail my test. And in that case…"
She trails off ominously. "In that case, then you can hardly be called shinobi, can you?"
"Remember. Nine o'clock! I'm looking forward to it!" And then she's gone, without even making any seals.
Quest Acquired: Party Till I Die!
Kurenai-sensei has made it clear that if her party tonight is not a success then she will be taking your headbands and with then, your ranks as shinobi. This cannot be allowed!
Success Condition One: Bring the correct thing to the party!
Success Condition Two: ???
Success Condtion Three: ???
Skills: Diplomacy, Perception
On Success: Genin Rank Confirmed! Gain achievement 'Down On Day One'!
On Failure: Loss of headband, ???
"Fuck!" Kiba shouts, hopping to his feet and yelling at the sky. It's like he can hear the scrawl in your head too. "I can't… I can't lose my headband! I just can't! No Inuzuka has ever not been a ninja! I gotta… I gotta think. I gotta plan!" Before you can say anything to him, he turns and runs, sprinting in the direction of the Inuzuka compound.
Mariko doesn't linger any longer than Kiba did. All she does is jab a finger at you. "I swear, if you mess this up for me, I'm gonna… I'm gonna…. Argh!" she snarls before stalking off in the direction of her home.
You're slower to get up and leave though. You're too busy thinking to move quickly.
Bring something to a party, eh? You can do that. But what? What do you need to bring to a party to ensure that it's a success? You move at a slow jog as you head home, turning the question over and over again in your head. By the time you reach your empty house, you're no closer to thinking of an answer.
Best think of one quickly. You only have… six hours.
What do you decide to bring to Kurenai-sensei's 'party'?
[] Food. You're friendly with a few of the Akimichi restaurants in town that do catering; you'll place a rush order and bring it to the party.
[] Music. You've done some strange things in the name of quests before, and performing in public is the least of them. You'll find an instrument and provide some songs.
[] Seating. You can't all just sit on the dirt for this. There should be chairs, or at least a blanket. You'll get both. It may not be flashy, but it's practical.
[] Write-In (Approval Not Necessary)
------
Team Ten's introduction to each other happened at a diner. Choji ordered everything. Shikamaru ordered nothing. Asuma-sensei ordered eggs. And Ino ordered pain.
Satomura Manami is not equipped for the empty next syndrome that comes with having a genin child. She handles it with... whatever the opposite of grace is.
Shino uses bugs. Sakura is scared of bugs. Someone has to help bridge this divide. This seems like a job for Jabari!
The villainous Konoha Squirrels have been following Daisuke, just waiting to get their revenge. Akamaru takes exception.
Others may be angry at their teams, or may be thrilled beyond belief. But all Yui feels is disappointment.
Kiba can't fail this test! So he's got work to do.
Mariko refuses to allow her team to let her fail! So she has work to do!
I think the most important thing, more than literally anything else we could bring, is to check that our teammates aren't bringing the same thing as us.
[X] We should find the other two and coordinate what we're bringing to the party. Someone should bring food, someone should bring music and someone should bring a keg
[X] co-ordinate with the other two, try to bring the music if you can but be willing to compromise.

Skills: Diplomacy, Perception
This quest involves these skills.
Diplomacy: Journeyman (800/1600) (Reward XP Invested: 480)
This is at Chuunin level, and should be fine.
Perception: Adept (430/800) (Reward XP Invested: 130)
This is at Career Genin level. It should be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to raise it.
After the recent xp added to Strength, it only needs 90 xp to get to Superhuman. This will get the achievement for getting all Physical attributes to Superhuman, as well as the achievement for getting all attributes to Superhuman.

I agree with @aimlessPolymath that coordination is important, but also... this party is going to be four people, right? Playing for an audience of three seems a bit awkward.

This ain't gonna end well. Surprised we bickered so much with Kiba to be honest. Kinda glad Daisuke and Kiba didn't just gang up and Mariko though- that could've been baaaad.

-[X] Ask mother for advice
-[] Invite family, friends, and try to get the others to do the same. Maybe team Gai too?
Fuck teamwork's obvious. Should we invite people? A party of four sounds like it'd suck
[X] We should find the other two and coordinate what we're bringing to the party. Someone should bring food, someone should bring music and someone should bring seating.
-[X] We also need to find Kurenai and ask what she's bringing, because if any of us clash with her it'll be just as bad.
But I also think we should bring guests. Because if the team works together, gathers food music and seating but forgets to invite anybody itll be really awkward.

Although there's more to coordinating the party than just making sure that we don't bring the same things. We also need to make sure that all of our preparations MATCH.
