Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

I'm realizing how much of an issue shooting for number one in the class is. Like, yes, aspire for as much as we can feasibly achieve, but #1 implies a variety of skills we simply don't have the time to spec into. We Taijutsu main, and while having a degree of utility is fine, it's a bad idea to split off too far at this point. We noted that in particular, Sasuke wasn't superior to us in Taijutsu. This says nothing of Ninjutsu, or academics; fully aware Ninjutsu is less likely a concern given chakra at this age, but he's got some other stuff to use, like shuriken training and the like.

Currently, I'd rather focus on our primary abilities so that we have something to throw at people that can actually do significant damage. Which as of now, seems to be Taijutsu. We have the most time to develop that now anyways, without any chakra, and hopefully we're given a teammate who has a fair amount of academic know-how, which while we shouldn't forgo, I believe we shouldn't prioritise.

Those were my thoughts on the matter though. I don't want to get a big head and risk wasting time by trying to drift too far into other fields that may not suit our playing style, simply so we can say we were Rookie of the Year . . . which is actually probably an achievement if I'm thinking about it. Crap.

I don't think we have to worry about taijutsu training, it's part of his daily routine after all. It got 20 points in two months. We're looking at more or less 800 points spread over seven years at the academy. We're just 330 points shy of being at the skill level of a chunin, so even if we get less points for some reason we'll most likely get there before graduation.

That should be more than enough to have a hard hitting option. So I don't think we should double down on extra taijutsu training.

We have 6 years and 10 months before graduation which should be more than enough to get the other subjects up to a good enough standard.

I think that Sasuke will just be even more hardcore if Daisuke takes the 1st place early. Sasuke is not going to have a social life after the massakre unless Daisuke becomes his friend. I don't want Daisuke to be a Mangekyo sacrifice though.

I'm for going all in to be Rookie of the year in the final year, and do enough to be in top 5 the other years.

@Vesvius, could we hypothetically pursue "A State of Mind" and "I Demand Euphoria!" simultaneously now that we have a lifelong love of reading?

I think it is more just "you can't put in multiple Achievements", and that anything else that happens is a logical outcome. Like, I'm pretty sure we could just say "Have Daisuke aim for Above-Average Social" to work around the related Achievement being locked.

Hey, guys, with the uncertainty of whether xp travels from life to life, or how much of it if it does, and the high difficulty making that more likely to be relevant...the optimum strategy for growth is clearly to aim for achievements over pure skill growth. Unless that skill growth is a prerequisite to gaining a specific achievement.

The longest journey begins with a single step. Or in this case, a dozen tiny steps. But who's counting?
Unlock Condition: Have 12 skills at 'Practiced', including Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Taijutsu.
Reward: ???
Status: LOCKED
@Vesvius i'm going to assume that isn't completely literal and means 'practiced or higher'. Because otherwise we're already locked out with taijutsu at adept.

And if we're counting adept skills, we're already 8/12. Woo!

You can go for one or the other right now. The other might be pursued at the same time but the goal will always be one or the other.

It does mean Practiced or Higher. Good catch.
I would say this isn't my best work, but yeah, no, it is. I don't do a ton of drawing.

Call it future Daisuke trying to tap into his chakra or something.
Nice! And yeah, that's an interesting style. Daisuke's hair in my headcanon is gray though for future reference. Take 160 XP!

EDIT: Also, normally I'd put a deadline up here. But this vote seems pretty decided and I want to try and update today. So vote is closed.

My suggestion is to finish appearance, and then from there focus on getting Shurikenjutsu/Ninjutsu/Genjutsu/Survival up to par since we need Nin and Gen for the Academy achievement and we need Shurikenjutsu for the Steel Achievement. Survival is just the closest one to Simple at 140/200.

But it would be good not to dismiss it later in the game it is a thing that made Minato awesome.
And we are not using sword as well

honestly my first thought was "he's meditating for Bankai!"
What about Fuinjutsu
give it time. I'm not even sure if they teach it in the academy now that i think about it. It might be one of these "master to apprentice" things. OR maybe an advanced class.

@Vesvius, i'm curious, are there extra/advanced/optional classes in the academy? THe kunoichi should have their own special classes, but is there anything else?

P.S. I know it might sound annoying, but for everyone with xp still to spend: "it's only 40 to rank up appearance and 60 for the first rank of shurinkenjutsu (which is nice for not sucking at our first lesson, whenever it is)"

There are a lot of other options of course, but at least appearance is so close! the achievement might help with Ino if we get it right now!

I think the best you learn is sealing scroll if you wish more you must go and spy on womens bathhouse in order to get a teacher. But it would be good to have some talent for it in order for master to teach you

Fair enough. I was going to go all in to Genjutsu to get it to practiced but...

@Vesvius Please put 40xp into Appearance, 60xp into Shurikenjutsu, and the remaining 50xp into Genjutsu.

Thanks :)

There actually will be! And that'll be the subject of a future vote.

Heard!

So there should still be 330 XP or so. If we want to improve our odds, Above-Average Empathy would be 250 whereas Adept Diplomacy would be 170.

EDIT: Above-Average Willpower would be 310, and sure to be helpful in most situations. Plus, it'll likely improve Daisuke's training and/or grant more free time.

EDIT 2: There's enough to tick off Practiced Gen and Ninjutsu. Alternatively, Journeyman Taijutsu is an option.

EDIT 3: Shurikenjutsu could be raised to Adept with 300, unlocking the Sworn in Steel Achievement.
