Medusa is a scary ass servant. She jobs in most routes because she's stuck with fucking Shinji as a master, and even then she holds up against Saber. In HF, Rider has a fairly even fight with unlimited mana hax Saber Alter, with only bare minimum assistance from Shirou to eke out a victory.

Here? With Illya as her master? Christ. She's not like Heracles wherein they're ridiculously tanky, but predictable. Rider's borderline an assassin that can run circuits around any other Servant. A fully powered Bloodfort is a terrifying prospect too, remember Shinji activated the one in the school way too early.

I'm certain that the others are fine on their own. Its not a very wise idea to run away right now, especially since as Shirou said in the chapter avoiding those who are upset at him usually ends with pain either emotional or physical. So lets not run away and get to know our captor a bit shall we.
Pretty sure, based on context and the assumption that (in defiance of his actions) Shirou has no masochistic tendencies, he was saying that trying to be around people who were angry at him lead to pain.

I feel like every second not spent solidifying a stable situation with medea and mordred under the same roof is an exponentially increasing chance that the roof and 30 feet of the foundation underneath it is scattered on the surrounding three miles of land.

I think going with a choice like this, is more in line with starting to put Shirou on taming his Shirouness.
Running off to do something is his usual go too; but keeping a cool head and trying to work out why Illya is upset about him not knowing about her, is a path towards becoming more like archer... Or at least a not completely jaded archer without the tan and old man hair.

That and we'd probably cause more problems than not; since Medea is probably doing well, especially if we're healthy - and our invovlvement will no doubt distract her during something important.

Of course, we're staying, we're goddamn curious to see what'll happen.
We just gotta hope Shirou remembers Kiritsugu's early trips out of Japan.
Admittedly, we got to say that adoptive dad fucked up with not telling us about his actual daughter at all…

You feel like this is a trap.

Can Shirou have a Tarp?

Nice try, she just said castle, we would still be in the woods with an angry Ilya hunting us.
Even if I'm curious about what happened with Taiga, if she was hurt, Raiga will probably end the war by assassinating all masters.

.....now picturing Shirou shadowrunning himself on if its a trap, and how Rider offered a way out of the castle and NOT the woods. By the time he relizes he is over thinking things Illya is already back.

Locking in 48.

An interesting result so far.
Shirou is learning(Shocked gasps ring out across Fuyuki) that sometimes, offers/offering help doesn't always come from a good place, like a decade old traumatic event that was never processed properly, or an attractive woman who says she'll let you go free after going to the trouble of extracting you from a pitched servant battle in the first place.

It makes a lot more sense when you remember that in Fateverse, the older and more well-known a Servant's legend is, the more powerful they are.

Heracles in his worst possible class container (beating out Assassin because Assassin would still allow him to think) is still a monster by Fate standards.

Medusa is both older than Heracles (Perseus is one of Heracles' ancestors) and possibly just as famous in her role as one of the ur-monsters of mythology. Even in Heaven's Feel, she's still holding back because using her Monstrous Strength skill at full power turns her more and more into her Gorgon form.
