I wonder if Ardat is going to try and keep up the facade with Thresh when we meet again.

Normally he barley has a choice in the matter, it's ether Jupitermon or Jupitermon wrath mode. His evo line is very limited in terms of possibility but it's a pretty strong evo line all things considered.
We're fairly loose with Evo rules it looks like.

and I'll point out the suspected titanmon was is raising him for a time. So that suggestshe's not exactly a Olympus mon

Does he really need Verg for that? Like even if he isn't willing to use the new meags he's forced into working under him Thresh would do that free of charge.

I mean, it's basically Bulwark's official remit. It wasn't so long ago that he was hiring mercenaries from the Host and the Accursed Gloaming, and might still be. He has people, and Thresh, but he probably never has enough and Verge is fairly strong.

Why do you think Leopardmon didn't want Verge to do it? It's not crucial so Verge's time is better spent training so he'll be more powerful as a Mega.

That said, there's always ferals that need hunted down. They outnumber civilized mon 10:1. Those Megas are set up north in the hazard coast, and occasionally the Savage Wilds where they're honestly needed.

They're ramping up worldwide for "some reason"

That's fairly tragic given my understanding of how ferals happen, which comes entirely from this quest. Does Bulwark put any/significant effort into trying to rescue young digimon before this happens? There's Xia of course, and that bit with Schwartz but those both seemed kind of random rather than a regular thing.

Wouldn't Verg need to do all that training just to reach mega? You know given his biology and how it's difficult to reach mega to begin with.

Yay war.
Pretty sure he's directly referring to ferals here, not any war or anything else.

What mon need to reach the point where evolution can happen is data/stats. Training is one way to do that, but it would be just as possible to load large amounts of data.

So, Leopardmon wants to go for quality over speed here.

It's a multi-faceted problem. Yes they do have recruiting programs of that nature, but it's physically impossible for them to recruit enough young feral mon to make a difference. The trees are spread out and well hidden after all.

Never! Verge will train until he dies!
Oh he'll still train but it'll be more for the skill aspect then stats.
Unless said mon is that Mega saberleomon loading isn't going to have a huge effect.
I mean after this training session he's going to be hitting his caps and I doubt we will see anymore talents being raised ( as much as I'd like to have like A++ in every talent, that ain't happening). So might as well kill two birds with one stone and throw him at the ferals to load.

[] The tournament is clearly your best option… though it's not a guarantee. If you don't manage to place highly or win… then you'll have to go with the cybernetics route.

===

Of the suggested options… the tournament is my best path. Victory may not be guaranteed but I have faith in my skill and power.

And if you somehow don't manage to win the event or even take a high placing, then cybernetics will still be an option. It's not a perfect fallback plan but... that should serve as at least a temporary solution to her problem. The cybernetics he's speaking of should be very advanced after all.

You explain your reasoning much to Leopardmon, whom nods along pleasantly.

"Magnifique chevalier, I shall hold you to your words. Will that be all?"

"Ye-hold… I have a final question. What has Sparks been utilizing my wages for?"

"Shishishishi, why, the answer to that is simple." The Mega laughs, tapping one paw against the floor in mirth. "Monsieur Wisemon is using them to build his army so he can... how you say, *pilfer* a Mega."

"Come again?"

===AN: I was going to have this just be part of the full update, but this hits too hard for that. So, it gets its own mini-snippet while I write the rest.

He's gonna try and steal Sephirotmon from wherever they're keeping it isn't he?

you know what that is an actually not surprising. Are we sure he isn't some kind of royal knight or demon lord? Because chaos is kinda his thing

I mean I'm not sure how good this army is actually going but hey him having a personal army is probably good for us in the long run.
Raidenmon actually if my guess is right Sparks has shown much interest in the Ult spirit so far after all.
Well even if he want to get it he'd have to go get through the other metal temple which I believe is flat campus which is a lot more active. Trying to sneak or fight your through the second strongest magical faction is going to be pain no matter who you are.

Nah he's just getting really into the role of a wizard.

trying to hijack a mega isn't exactly a cakewalk either.

I know I'm just pointing out that it can be argued that he's making a bigger impact than most DL and RK's in training . Sparks is kinda a genius

True but he has a lot more info to off with this one and would know any potential weaknesses.

Whilst somewhat true when you look at the circumstances surrounding those mon it's easy to see why for some of them.

14th Of Wood: Capture Or Kill
Sparks has already returned by the time your meeting ends, and is standing there poised to start speaking when you pre-empt him.

"You're going to try and steal Raidenmon from the Machine Precinct?" Your growl hits the Wisemon as a physical blow, the annoyance, and exasperation laced-sound physically pushing him back.

The shock on his face quickly turns to indignation.

"Oi! I'm not gonna try anythin'!" He replies, tapping a thumb against his sternum. "I'm takin' back what's mine! You can be sure of that!"

His?

"It belonged to Mercuremon." The short statement knocks the wind out from his figurative sails, and he coughs into a fist.

"Well… yeah kinda." He admits, slumping a bit. "But ya see, my past life was Mercuremon. So the Warmachine should be mine." You regard him for a few silent moments… then shake your head.

"Logic that is dubious. And that is mayhaps giving it too much credit."

"Gah! Well… screw you too Verge!" He shouts halfheartedly, one hand raising in an obscene gesture. "It's friggen' mine and I'm going to take it back!"

"... zehahaha."

"Oi! Don't laugh ya prick. You're not allowed to do that to me! I'm supposed to be the one laughing at you." That only makes you chuckle all the harder. "... so gonna get ya back for this."

Once the mirth has subsided, Sparks sighs and teleports in front of you, his Book open and at its maximum size.

"Alright alright already, I get ya find it hilarious. Now get in, there's something' important we really need to talk about. Privately." You tilt your head at that, and look towards the nearby Bulwark meeting room. "Hey! I said private. Leopardmon's got bugs… ergh. Recording devices in there."

Ah, that makes more sense than invisible and undetectable insect digimon.

".. very well." You frown at the Book, knowing full well what going through it entails. That supremely odd, uncomfortable feeling of being stretched and squashed at the same time. However Sparks makes a good point, and if this is truly as important as he claims…

This is going to be... most unpleasant.

=

You drop free from the *portal* with a shudder, and quickly reorient yourself in the Wisemon's demi-plane… it still has a paper floor, fiery sky filled with lightning bolts. Although… the random clutter has been significantly cut down.

… the big, half-constructed mansion is also new.

Sparks pops in a moment later, smiling nervously for some reason.

"We're here. I would know what is so important."

"Yeah…" Your friend winces. "So err, ya know how I've been absent the past few days?"

"Aye."

"Well, I've been doin' a lot of research for a long, long time. And the past few days I finally managed to do somethin'... let's just say special."

"Which would be?"

"Tch, take all the fun out of it why don't ya? Fine. I contacted… Anubismon." That explanation nets him nothing more than a blank stare.

"And that would be?..."

"Aaagh! He's a Mega that handles the server's reincarnation ya jackass!"

"That sounds… impossible. The number of mon that must be dying every moment would be impossible for a single entity to keep track of, much less direct to trees of rebirth."

"Well he does okay. Maybe not everything' personally but he knows about that kind of stuff Verge, trust me."

"Very well… then, why did you contact him? Because of Fu?"

"Eh…" Sparks wiggles a hand. "That was half of it. Mainly I just wanted some information."

"And what did he demand in exchange?"

A Mega in that position… would be unlikely to provide assistance unless they also gained something from the transaction.

"Just a favour or two after I hit Mega." He replies witha dismissive wave. "Nothin' important, and they can't be called unless I actually get what I want. Hehehe, I made a pretty good deal."

"..." You do not believe that. Not for an instant. He probably got tricked somehow.

"Anyway, seein' Fu again got me thinkin'. I wanted to try and get her memories back, but it's ain't exactly easy. We need somemon she was really, and I mean really close to in her past life."

That would be… mayhaps Gnaw? No there was another that was closer still.

"Auger?"

He should still be alive but… working under Luna after being handled by Count. I doubt he's the same mon anymore… because I failed to save him.

"Yeah, not sure we can use him anymore either." Sparks adds with a sigh. "But that ain't the freaky thing. You're uh… gonna want to brace yourself for this one Verge."

"Then… I presume it will cause anger?"

"Eh… you could say that." He replies, wincing even more strongly this time.

Concerning… however I've long practiced my self control.

"Please, speak."

"Ah-kay Verge. So… I went and tried to see if he knew where Flamemon reincarnated, but no luck. Anubismon said he didn't come through."

"That… is impossible. I…"

"Darkness Spear!"

NO!

"I saw Agnimon die."

"Yeah... "

"Are… you saying that Repulsa permanently deleted him?" Fury, unrelenting Wrath surges through your core at the realization, though it's dampened by Sparks rapidly shaking his head in the negative.

"Just hold on a second before you get all angry. I've figured out what happened and it ain't that! Okay! It's more like she uh… absorbed his core data directly."

That… you remember that moment. The small circular object at the end of her transmuted limb. You hadn't recognized it then, but… that must have been his digicore.

"Then she must die for him to be released." You growl through gritted teeth.

"Heh, well, I've got one better." Sparks grunts, tossing his green space-time orb up into the air before swiping it again. "Instead, we capture her at the tourney. I bet ya with a little help we can find a way to get him out of her. "

Get… Agnimon out of her? Could that really be-no.

"Our friend is dead." You reply flatly. "Bringing back a reincarnation will not return the mon we knew."

His words mean she'll be attending the tournament… given Repulsa's status as a Legendary Warrior she will likely be a contestant… can I delete her there? Malkimon has a strict no-kill policy. It would mean disqualification… spirts accursed-damnit! That… after I decided to win it for Frigimon… why? By the Great Tree WHY?!

"Yo, you uh… doin' okay there Verge?"

=== Choose One:

[] Agnimon's dead. You've made peace with that fact, bringing something back won't be him. The situation isn't like what happened with Fu. You're going to tear Repulsa apart, not capture her.
-[] At the tournament, even if it means being disqualified
-[] When Bulwark comes into conflict with the Gloaming.

[] It won't bring Agnimon back, however his reincarnation… would be better off with you than some random tree of rebirth. When the time comes, use the space-time stone to capture her..
-[] At the tournament.
-[] Later on.
