"Don't insult us you… you… punch robot! Come on and fight us!" Thresh roars, stomping a foot against the ground in frustration.
"I too would see you fight us *semi-seriously*."
"So be it." The Mega shrugs. "But I tire of this. Come at me together so this can end quickly."
"Grah! You'll regret that! You heard him Verge! I've got his right!"
"Then I will take his left."
The two of you take a moment to nod, then burst into motion together. It's by no means perfectly synced, but you dart around with a head-aimed Winning Straight just about the same time that he throws a backslash at the Mega's shoulder.
Just before impact the world erupts into an explosion of heat and force. Your eyes catches a flash of black.
"Together!" You roar leaping into the air, then bounding off it again into a spin. "Cyclonic!" halfway through the shout you extend a leg, which PileVolcamon hastily ducks… just as you expected. Thresh's twin pendulum blades stab at the awkwardly positioned mon, forcing him to cross-block… and keeping him in place as you rotate on the extended leg, then snap the other down at his head. "Kick!"
Your trainer grunts again as the enhanced kick snaps off his horn at the base, and is then flung back when twin Atomic Beams impact his chest. As the spell wears off you begin to sag, already suffering from the immense recoil damage.
"-getting late, should we wake him up?" Ardat's voice pierces through the veil of darkness, bringing you back to consciousness.
In bed… can't sense the others… am I in my assigned room?
"We should let our knight have his rest." She continues… in a slightly different inflection. You focus on the LadyDevimon's energy signature,
Pacing… nervous.. She's talking to herself?
"Did you see how super cool he was fighting against PileVolcamon though?! Not as cool as our spells but..."
"Please, forcing a Mega to flinch went well above even our lofty expectations."
The fight… I didn't see PileVolcamon's final move. He must have defeated us both in a single blow. To think utilizing his drivers would have granted such power...
"Yes it was… should we really ask him?" Ardat *asks* uncertainly, her aura flickering nervously.
"We cannot back out now." She *answers* with a tone of finality.
She wishes to ask me something… spirits above, please. Do not let it be about something she learned from Sparks… ah, I should let her know I'm awake.
"I cannot help but notice your worry." You say, rising up from the bed and looking around. Just as expected, this is the cell you were assigned for rest. "Are you well?"
"Eep!" The womon squeaks, jumping in place, then hastily grabbing at her witch-hat before it can fall off. "You're awake!"
"Aye. A correct observation." You muse, watching as a hint of red peaks out from under her mask.
"Wa-what did you hear?"
"Only a brief conversation, and that you intended to ask something of me."
"That's all?" She breathes an audible sigh of relief. "Nothing about the-*ahem*." She cuts herself off by coughing into a fist, then straightens up. Her erratic aura calms, then becomes focused like the edge of a blade. Your la-the womon flicks her and mutters a quick word, summoning interlocking barriers of lilac wind to cover each wall.
"Nihihihi! Wondrous is it not?" She boasts, folding a hand under her chin. "My wind sorcery has advanced to the most magnificent of tiers!"
"Aye…"
All she did was cover the room in moving air. Something I believe more wizened Witchmon could also manage? Huh, GrappLeomon is better than Gryzmon when it comes to… deceits.
Fortunately she doesn't manage to pick up on your internal thoughts, and continues on as if you're in awe.
"Stunning I know, but you must look past it my knight. We have a truly important matter to discuss, and your empress would have it dealt with as soon as possible."
My… empress?... oh. She's speaking of herself.
"I understand, what did you wish to ask of me?"
"Yes, we-I intend to evolve with all haste, a sentiment Leopardmon agreed to, however…" The confidence wavers for a moment, but Ardat takes a deep breath and then pushes onwards. "The form I am most likely to assume is none other than the Demon Lord Of Lust..." She trails off as if not wanting to finish, but clenches a hand and forces it out anyway. "Lilithmon."
That word, that name… something about it sends a shiver down your spine. Only it's not fear, something in your core actively pulses with excitement. The corruptive feeling only lasts a moment before being countered, however it's a clear reminder about just what your la-friend is.
"We-I believe that Scratch raised me the way he did to prevent this from occurring, but that goal failed when he was… when he perished." The womon pauses for a moment to hold back her wavering voice, then squares her shoulders. "I dark digivolved to this form, causing her to come into being from my mind's recesses. Sanzomon assisted us in learning control, and that we aren't separate beings. Merely..."
"A branch split through trauma?" You suggest causing her to nod.
"That will do as a metaphor my knight." Ardat closes her eyes, breathes deeply then shoots you a fiercely focused stare. "I know well the effects evolution can have on the mind. If whence we digivolve we become… all evil, we-I… need you to end me."
End her? Her what?... oh.
"You… you would prefer deletion over living as a villain."
"As a monster!" She hisses back, eyes flaring with sudden fury. "Like Astamon, or Daemon! We refuse to be like them!"
You flinch back from the sudden outburst, surprised and horrified by her words. What she's asking of you to… to kill her that's...
A voice rings out in the back of your mind, the dying words of a knight long gone from this server.
[] Make The Damned Oath. It clashes with what you swore to Sir Scratch, however… if Ardat's right and she becomes a Demon Lord that brings ruin, it's your duty as her friend, and as Agnimon's successor to carry out her request.
[] Refuse. Ardat's dark evolution may have corrupted her mind, but she's pulled herself back from that insanity once before. If she does get overtaken by… Lilithmon, you'll swear to get her back onto the right path.
===AN: And here the morning update is folks! A very important vote here, so I'm kind of hoping to see some discussion on the ramification of each choice…
[X] Refuse. Ardat's dark evolution may have corrupted her mind, but she's pulled herself back from that insanity once before. If she does get overtaken by… Lilithmon, you'll swear to get her back onto the right path.
Giving your word to make certain, or refuse and believe that she can be better even if the worst happens. While blind faith is bad, Verge is aware this would be a mighty effort.
Oh well, I am not a fan of giving conflicting oaths. Moreover, this is, after all, a setting where the power of friendship is very real. Voting to believe in Ardat's steadfastness is not utterly foolish, especially because both sides know the stakes involved.
[X] Refuse. Ardat's dark evolution may have corrupted her mind, but she's pulled herself back from that insanity once before. If she does get overtaken by… Lilithmon, you'll swear to get her back onto the right path.
I am doubtful that her exact words are relevant here, the important part is the spirit of what she desires. Which is to be destroyed if she becomes a monster.
...huh. That is actually a good point in favour of swearing the oath I just made.
On the other hand, power of friendship and stuff.
This is difficult no matter how I look at it. Swearing the oath acknowledges that Ardat might (likely) be subsumed with no chance of salvation, while not swearing it implies that Verge has absolute faith in her, which might also make her fight back harder against Lillithmon if this is what she becomes.
I think I will stay with my vote to refuse for now and wait if there is an argument that sways me.

The "Greater Good" option picking this would theoretically mean that we are technically going to rid the world of a great evil if Ardat becomes a Lilithmon and Verge thinks that this would be following Agnimon's will and ideals...
But this would still entail murdering a friend and someone Verge holds dear... It's a Friend vs Duty choice.
[] Refuse. Ardat's dark evolution may have corrupted her mind, but she's pulled herself back from that insanity once before. If she does get overtaken by… Lilithmon, you'll
Now this option basically means if Ardat becomes Lilithmon we are going Full Shonen, and using the power of friendship to bring back her mind.
Now not killing a Demon Lord might be going against Verge's perceived Agnimon's ideals, but considering that Agnimon is a Shonen protagonist, I'm pretty sure he would not begrudge us trying to help our friends turned evil back to the side of good, if not prefer it because again Shonen Protag.
The only other consequences of this is the fact that this might make Verge even more compatible with Dynasmon which may either be a pro or a con to someone.
"For example, for the sake of its own justice, it won't hate its lord even if they are called "Evil"."
Remember Verge already considers Ardat his Lady, and she is definitely what the Host would consider "Evil'.
Verge's oaths are also some borderlines geas stuff so breaking one of them specially a huge one since Verge owns so much to Scratch will also have consequences to Verge's mindspace and a digimon's form/power are all about being a reflection of themselves

No clashing oaths. Don't deliberately swear ourselves into a corner.

Oh right breaking oaths might be a step towards Verge Dark Digivolving, as breaking them is antithesis to his nature and might do some bad stuff to his mind.
Yep.
We got it BAD enough on unintentionally conflicting oaths that creating one that we KNOW would force us to break at least one oath if the event happens is really terrible as a plan.
Heck, its worse than breaking the oath by failure. We'd have to do the deed ourself. Betrayal.

So while picking to make the oath means we won't have any evil Lilithmon wrecking the server, it also means that Verge whose Loyalty is one of his defining traits would be forced to Betray someone... Yeah that's a ingredient for Dark Evolution right there.
But then again not making the Oath to destroy a major threat to this server, might also piss off Yggdrasil and we might lose AVALON so soon after we fixed it.
As Drexal did say this vote is very important, and losing AVALON for choosing a friend over the Server/Yggdrasil's safety seems like apossibility.
[X] Refuse. Ardat's dark evolution may have corrupted her mind, but she's pulled herself back from that insanity once before. If she does get overtaken by… Lilithmon, you'll swear to get her back onto the right path.
Both are valid votes but I prefer this one since it says Verge believes Ardat will not be consumed
Well initially. That'd be a boost to Ardat's willpower I think

Okay, now we seriously have to start aiming towards getting Ardat to go Venusmon. It's her second most likely evolution as mentioned in the Discord. We have the Olympians right here as well. It's possible and likely for the best for everyone.
Also being a Goddess of Love might help her get the message through Verge's thick skull
Well I did mention that not swearing would make Verge go Full Shonen, and in Naruto it took till the end of the series until Naruto manages to make Sasuke return.
It's not in Verge's nature to give up on his friends and family, as evidenced by the fact we chose the Special boost because its the only one that didn't focus on Revenge over Rescuing Family.

It is a good point. There are no perfect outcomes here, though I personally prefer to take the risk of failing to save her in the end over the risk of swearing an oath that conflicts with a previous one.

Found it as I mentioned before, Verge chose family over revenge or simply surviving, so the possibility of failing may be there, but that simply means that Verge would just try and try again until something gives possibly himself.
Also so long as Verge doesn't give up he technically didn't fail his oath to put her back on the right path, it just means he still in progress.

Okay, I'm not going to justify this with meta arguments about digivolutions. Right now, Verge is being asked, by a friend, to make sure that if she becomes evil, becomes a true threat, to end her. Not to simply kill her if she becomes Lilithmon. We know from encountering Schwartz that mon with incredibly destructive power can be put on a path to being a good and just person. So it's not about her becoming Lilithmon. It's about her becoming something that both she and Scratch would loathe. This is also something to help her peace of mind. Refusing here would not be helpful to Ardat. It would increase her worry, make her more scared of herself because she won't have that safety net. This is something so big that both sides of her fractured personality are in agreement about. Yes, it has a chance to clash with our oath to Sir Scratch. But frankly I'd rather shoulder that burden and give Ardat peace of mind than simply go "You got this" and leave her flapping in the wind.

While I do like your reasoning, this last part feels decidedly wrong.
Even if Verge refused to make that oath, there is nothing to indicate he would would explain his reasons and actually speak to Ardat about the matter instead of just pretending it is not an issue like you claim.

It will also meant that if her instincts as a Lilithmon and the general personality traits that evolution into Lilithmon will add overwhelms her, we won't have any option to settle things non-lethally thus we lock out any chance for a redemption quest.

I find this supposition to rely way too much on "what if's" that we have no actual basis on. Even right after dark Digivolving, Ardat wasn't overwhelmed. We have no reason to think that she would be overwhelmed upon a natural digivolution.

But accepting would still mean that the moment we actually have to do the oath, we would be breaking the one from Scratch's and setting ourselves up in a situation where the possibility of us being forced to break an oath is from either killing Ardat or refraining from doing so, when we know bad things will happen when Verge breaks an oath is just the definition of digging your own pit.
Also your own argument meant that we have to rely on the what if Ardat won't ever be overcome by her Lilithmon personality traits and instincts, it just takes one lapse into her instincts and we will have to put her down.
