I do wonder if the sovereign route is the only one where Verg and Sparks can still jogress at mega form. I know Drexel has his own way of dealing with digivolutions but I don't think there is any form that would fit the bill with Craniamon and AncientWisemon.

The Wisemon! Of course he would cause such mayhem for his own wretched amusement!" Fonte proclaims, drawing an arming sword free. "My sincerest apologies for the insult Lady Ardat, could we perhaps make up over the retribution I intend to inflict on that wretched cur?"

"Yes, we would enjoy that very much. It seems he must be reminded of why the Great Empress Of Wind should not be trifled with!"

Heh.
That played out pretty much exactly how I was expecting it to.

32nd Of Earth: Sparring With PileVolcamon Round 1
[] Accept the sparring offer. The experience will be useful… and mayhaps when paired with Thresh the two of you can push him a little.

===

His question… isn't a very difficult one to answer. Your pride as a martial artist and spirit as a warrior refuse to even think about declining such a perfect opportunity.

"I accept." With that you step aside, giving Fonte a clear path to the exit. The Knightmon gives you a respectful nod on the way out, then closes the metal door. It locks with an audible *click*, leaving only three in the spacious training room.

"Our final training session will be three stages." PileVolcamon announces, striding over to the chamber's far end. "First, a one on one lesson, then-" His voice is suddenly cut off as your brother's verniers blare to life.

"Gyuhuhu, think fast! Hammer Edge!" Thresh explodes towards the Mega, one arm primed to stab into his side, while the other rises up for a follow up slash. Your trainer spins right before contact, not relying on overwhelming speed, but rather skill and timing. With an almost precognitive ease, he snatches the heavy blade with one hand, then redirects the airborne mon's momentum, flinging him towards the nearby wall.

Before your brother can impact the metal, Pile has already leapt into a following tackle, ramming a shoulder into the far larger mon's chest and driving him into the Chrome Digizoid surface. Thresh attempts to buck free, letting loose a burst of electricity from his chest and opening his mouth to spew hazard fire-

-only for an uppercut to snap his mouth shut. The Mega flinches as your brother's electricity rolls over him… in a manner that looks shockingly similar to how the attack effects you. Moreover he pushes forward with the exact same speed you have when being electrocuted and grasps Thresh's assault balancer in one hand. Instead of attempting to rip it free, he simply pulls it back and around, encircling the other cyborg's neck.

The faint glow of an Atomic Blaster builds up in your brother's firing ports, but rather than dodge, PileVolcamon roughly yanks down, ripping him free from the wall. Thresh's arms stab downwards for balance, but the Mega flicks the right arm away from its course, causing it to slide away instead of digging in like his left blade.

Which leaves your brother to slam his face against the ground, that then explodes as his beams are unleashed at point blank range.

"A gallant charge." PileVolcamon announces as he punches your younger sibling between the eyes. "But against a wary opponent, it only invites destruction." Thresh's ears twitch momentarily, and he tries to get his feet back under his body, but is halted by another yank forwards.

"You rely too much on your body's durability."

*Punch*

"And your chest-ports to counter those within reach." Your brother's right arm tries to stab back down for leverage, but PileVolcamon simply nudges it aside with a foot before...

*Punch*

Thresh's Verniers explode back into action, but your trainer merely switches grips and grab ahold of his right pendulum blade, keeping him firmly anchored in place.

*Punch*

"Adaptability means nothing if you lose within the opening seconds." Thresh tries to snarl something, but is interrupted by a final strike that makes his eyes roll up in their sockets. Your sibling goes limp, his only movement a faint twitch of the tail.

By the Great Tree that-that was… perfection itself! Even limited he still managed to win without taking damage. Is this the skill of a Mega?

A shiver of excitement rolls down your back, as the Mega tosses Thresh aside and without further ado begins walking towards you.

"I intend to put up a better fight." You clasp a hand over your fist, then bow. PileVolcamon stops in the room's center, then raises an arm and beckons you forward with two fingers.

An invitation? Very well, it will not be ignored.

Instantly you skip forward into a Dash Knuckle, aimed for his face. PileVolcamon twists to your left, avoiding the punch while simultaneously driving an elbow down towards your gut-

-a blow your remaining hand catches, curbing the blow and fully affirming your suspicions.

He's matching our level.

Your right arm darts in a short hook to his head, however your trainer swings around, and smacks your fist out of the way with his horn. In the same motion, the cyborg completes his spinning counter, snapping the knuckles into your side.

The impact drives you a half dozen meters across the ground, but only succeeds in slightly denting your ribs. Meaning it's barely noticeable as an injury. As with Thresh, PileVolcamon chases right after you with a tackle.

Unlike him, you're fully capable of pivoting in the air and lashing out with a Vortex Kick. The Mega ducks below it, and slams into your leg… just as you'd predicted. In that moment of contact, the pivot point switches to your lifted leg, causing his attack to do nothing but knock your leg into the air and more importantly, impart more momentum.

Before the rotation can finish, you change pivot points again and stamp down at the darkly armored brawler-

-and are met by a closing hand.

He saw my counter?!

You go limp, preparing to be smashed against the training room's floor… and are thus left shocked when PileVolcamon lets go and nods to himself.

"Well done chevalier. A proper caution and use of aerial mobility, no clear weakness in tactics of technique." He notes letting you fall back to the room's well-dented floor. "Only one portion remains."

One po-

The Bulwark-bound Mega lunges before your thought can finish, seizing you by the neck and arm, then pulling while he spins around. On reflex you bend both legs and pull away, only barely preventing him from lifting you onto his hip. To counter you grasp his belt and scarf, then lift-

*Crunch*

-but are interrupted when his elbow slams into your nose.

"Competent enough, but your flaw is clear." He announces as you take a step back. "There is too much distinction between grappling and striking in your style. The point is not only to throw, but to gain a better position to hit from."

That… I didn't consider it in that way.

"I will see to it that my flaw is corrected." You respond, flowing into another warrior's greeting.

"See that you do." He claps a fist in return, then looks over to Thresh's unconscious form. "Wake and heal him… I would see how you do when fighting together."

Grappling has been folded into Martial Arts.
  • Martial Arts, GrappLeomon *Maul* Style: 460 /540->494/540: [The evolved form of Gryzmon Martial arts utilizing the new speed and mobility of GrappLeomon to amp up the Power based fighting style. Controlled and powerful, lethal strikes along with counters and grapples are utilized, it's become far more offense oriented in nature. The style now includes new types of attacks and more angles to strike from, though the largest boon is the sheer number of blows that can now be thrown out in quick combination.]

Hm. how do you guys think we should handle the 2-v-1? I'd try coming up with a plan, but currently I'm kinda out of it from lack of sleep.

The biggest issue is seeing if Thresh will even work with us for a 2v1 or if we need to focus on supporting him and his pace to make the 2v1 even a thing.

As I get the feeling Thresh doesn't really have a great deal of experince with fighting with allies in a team.

With an almost precognitive ease, he snatches the heavyg blade with one hand, then redirects the airborne mon's momentum, flinging him towards the nearby wall.
Remove the g.

Nudges.
In that moment of contact, the pivot point switches to your lifted him,
Did you mean lifted leg?
You go limp, preparing to be smashed against the training room's floor… and are thus left shocked when PileVolcamon lets go and ndos to himself.
Nods.

I have no idea how to go about this, I don't think either side has any great amount of experience fighting alongside another brawler type. Verg had Sparks and Thresh had Luna. Also question, does Thresh have a moon mark like Verg anywhere?

Okay, I will try.

[X] Plan Underdogs
-[X] Attempt to coordinate with Thresh as best as possible, with focus on preventing PileVolcamon from taking Thresh out of the fight early; his adaptability will work in your favour the longer he stays in the game
--[X] In addition, see about timing your attacks in a rhythm instead of both striking at the same time
-[X] Use absolutely everything at your disposal where appropriate; preferably cast boost spells whenever Thresh takes PileVolcamon's attention for longer than a single strike. Perhaps attempt to lure PileVolcamon into an attempt to stop your casting and get his attention off your brother that way.
-[X] Cast healing spells as appropriate, but prioritise them if either of you takes near-critical damage

Might need some adjustments, but this is basically a middle ground between specific actions and tactics. Leave the exact techniques and when to use them for Verge to decide, but give him a guideline for how to approach the fight in general.

[X] Plan Simple Teamwork
-[X] Opening move: Thresh is impatient, let him go first and engage the Mega while you cast Frame Reinforce and Tandem Body Burst. When PileVolcamon counters against Thresh, you'd be in position to dash in and perform an augmented Hammer Rush, pressuring him for Thresh to recover.
-[X] Keep coordination simple.
--[X] Grapple to hinder evasion, and throw into the path of Thresh's charged attacks. Keep to the flanks, where neither of you risk being caught in the path of evaded strikes.
--[X] When Thresh is engaged in close combat, you will cast to heal if there is need, or prepare yourself if there is not. When Thresh is charging or winding up his strikes, you will engage to pressure and prevent them from being disrupted.

"Very well, consider it done." You reply stepping towards the WarGrowlmon's unconscious body. However just before nudging him awake, a question comes to mind. "PileVolcamon, that technique you utilized against SaberLeomon, the Diamond Fist. Is it possible to learn?"

"Hn, you're too green for it."

… come again?

"I fail to see how my color affects technique usage… and my fur is composed of grey and purple, not green."

"... My point, was your age and skill." The Mega replies after taking a moment to compose himself. "My hands are adapted to hold and channel that power. Yours would explode."

"Ah, and that would be most unpleasant."

"Yes, it would." He agrees. "Now wake the other Chevalier."

Nudging Thresh with your sharp toes doesn't actually wake him up, nor does a sharp kick to his inner thigh. In the end, you're forced to repeatedly heal the Ultimate of his head injuries before he finally recovers.

"Aaaagh… what… what hit me bro?"

"A fist. PileVolcamon's to be exact. He punched you a great deal." With that explanation, you deliver another short kick to his leg.

"Grah! That hurts you bassard."

"Bastard. Now rise, PileVolcamon wishes to fight us together."

"Ragh fine." Your sibling grumbles pushing himself back up. "But you kicked me, there'll be a rockoning."

Reckoning.

"You may do so later. For now we require a plan of attack."

"Gigigi, I've got one." The Demon-Dragon grins, turning towards the far away Mega.

"And that is?" You inquire, narrowing an eye in suspicion.

"Attack first!" He shouts, verniers flaring to life and rocketing him forwards.

… Yep.

Fortunately you expected him to act in such an obvious manner and had already thought up a strategy to contemplate. While he charges forward, you circle around with a spell on your lips.

PileVolcamon uncrosses his arms and beckons at the flying dinosaur, but fails to take up an actual battle stance.

"It won't be so easy this time! Hammer Edge!" You wince as Thresh begins to go through an exact repeat of his first maneuver, lunging at the smaller mon with both pendulum blades extended…

Only at the last possible second, your sibling's left arm is thrust into the floor, swinging his immense bulk right around the Mega. That one move not only avoids PileVolcamon's grasping hands, but lines up his glowing chest-ports with said Mega's back.

"Atomic Blaster!" Your trainer hops out of their way, but falls right into the path of Thresh's delayed slash. It's in that moment when he's occupied with blocking that your spell triggers.

"Hammer Blows!" A flurry of blows rain down PileVolcamon's back, furiously denting and scraping his armor. He grunts as the impacts hit home, pushing him up right against your brother's blade. The two slide backwards across the metal ground, throwing up a hail of sparks before Thresh's back hits the far wall.

The effects of Improved Tandem Body Burst's flows through your body, nearly redoubling your strength and speed. With two seconds left, you push through the deep ache of recoil and flash after the duo, spinning into a followup Vortex Kick just as they impact. Your foot snaps towards his head with enough force to shatter a mountain and-

"Impressive."

-is caught by the Mega's hand. The cyborg takes a quarter second to let both you and Thresh realize that he's holding your attacks back with only a single arm each, before shoving you both away.

Your trainer's form turns into little more than blur as he charges at you in a tackle, easily surpassing the spell's potency with his natural agility. On reflex you bring up a tight guard to receive the strike-

-which proves a mistake as his hand wrap around your wrist. With far more speed than before, he scythes your legs out from under you with a kick, then pulls your face into a down-angled hook.

The world lapses momentarily, and suddenly you're neck deep in the Chrome Digizoid ground. Oh, and then there's the pain, yes, the furious pain of a very dented skull.

Ow… the fight Verge. Get up.

With Tandem Body Burst having worn off, you're forced to start casting it a second time... while pulling your head out of the ground. You escape just in time to watch PileVolcamon slap Thresh's arms aside, and unleash a barrage of punches on his unprotected frame

You interrupt the beating with a wordless Jūoudaken!, then follow with a Dash Knuckle. The first hits his back, causing him to momentarily pause attacking, but a sudden back-kick catches your gut before your punch can land.

Thresh flares his verniers as you're knocked back, catching PileVolcamon with his chest and carrying them both forward… for roughly half of a second at least. The Mega digs his hands into Thresh's chest, slams his feet against the air, then suplexes the Demon-Dragon towards you.

And then your second spell activates.

Instead of being crushed, you dodge around the bulky Ultimate and tense a hand.

"Crescent Dawn!" Silver claws rake across PileVolcamon's faceplate with a screech, drawing four shallow lines across the metal. He recoils back from the strike, raising one hand towards his injury and giving you the needed moment to help Thresh up. The draconic cyborg snorts as you lift him up, but doesn't knock your hand away.

"So, how're we fighting Vee?" He grins through the roar of your turbines.

Please understand this.

"Together!" You roar leaping into the air, then bounding off it again into a spin. "Cyclonic!" halfway through the shout you extend a leg, which PileVolcamon hastily ducks… just as you expected. Thresh's twin pendulum blades stab at the awkwardly positioned mon, forcing him to cross-block… and keeping him in place as you rotate on the extended leg, then snap the other down at his head. "Kick!"

Your trainer grunts again as the enhanced kick snaps off his horn at the base, and is then flung back when twin Atomic Beams impact his chest. As the spell wears off you begin to sag, already suffering from the immense recoil damage.

Rgh. My reserves are… already so low? Spirits below, the cost in battle was greater than anticipated…

PileVolcamon tumbles towards the dented wall, however his body jerks to a stop just before impact.

"The lesson is over." He booms twisting down through the air until his feet land on the ground. "Your teamwork is satisfactory."

Already?

"What?!" Your younger brother squawks. "But we just started!"

"And you've been holding back." You point out. "We didn't force you to utilize your explosive drivers."

"True." PileVolcamon admits. "But the point was never to defeat me... and if I had fought seriously this would have ended in the first exchange."

"Don't insult us you… you… punch robot! Come on and fight us!" Thresh roars, stomping a foot against the ground in frustration.

"I too would see you fight us *semi-seriously*."

"So be it." The Mega shrugs. "But I tire of this. Come at me together so this can end quickly."

"Grah! You'll regret that! You heard him Verge! I've got his right!"

"Then I will take his left."

The two of you take a moment to nod, then burst into motion together. It's by no means perfectly synced, but you dart around with a head-aimed Winning Straight just about the same time that he throws a backslash at the Mega's shoulder.

Just before impact the world erupts into an explosion of heat and force. Your eyes catches a flash of black.

Then darkness.

===AN: Alright, either very late tonight or early tomorrow there'll be the next vote.

You know, I'm kind of surprised Verge didn't try for a God Bless block to see if he could stop a mega tier attack.

As this seemed like it would have been a perfect time to test that.
