That's it. We're becoming Gladimon. I NEED IT.
But we won't have a drill for digging!!!

What will we do if we are unable to dig!!!
Drill > Shovel

I want us to be the superior digger!

Ahem

We just need to find a Blacksmith and Gladimon would allow us to excel at using the Sword on Sorcerymon's shop if we ever buy it

13nth Day Of Darkness: Defeating The Mecha Ambush
[] The better part of valor
-[] Yell for Fu to retreat back to you. Run up to her and attempt to body block as needed.
-[] Have Fu shoot as you run.
-[] Find Sparks ,grab him and get him to safety.
-[] if he argues point out the fact that him being here means Flamemon is going to get himself killed trying to protect him and Sparks can't do anything right now. If he wants to help he can get on your back and let you make sure Flamemon can focus on his fight.
-[] once Sparks is secure Run like hell.

===

You struggle to say something, to say anything - but before the Champion's baleful stare the most that comes out are a few half-strangled gurgles. Under the giant machine digimon's attention it's hard to so much as breathe, much less warn Fu like you want to. When its crushing gaze passes by your posistion a moment later you can't help but let loose a sigh of relief, all other thoughts momentarily gone as you're just glad to not have that thing's attention focused on your person for even a second more.

Control reasserts itself over your mind a moment later, wresting your consciousness away from fear and finally allowing you to speak once more.

"F-f-fu! We have to get back!" You run forward, eyes scanning the immediate are in an attempt to find your small, most fragile friend. Quite frankly you're extremely worried that if she gets overwhelmed by the Goblimon and their fireballs then it could be it.

The Lalamon in question proves to be quite adept at weaving in between the many, many fireballs tossed by the Goblimon whilst continuously returning attacks of her own. Of course, the green rookies aren't the most accurate digimon and them being on the move doesn't help things, but thirty balls of fire being tossed every second or so really builds up, leaving Fu for little room to maneuver. An agonizingly slow second passes by as she leaps to the left, dodging a fireball by a hair's breadth before retaliating with a seed bomb. Once she's finished spitting out her last seed, the plant-type rookie finally answers you.

"I am, dummy!" She shouts in annoyance even as the ever closing army of Goblimon begin hurling another volley. The very moment after Fu sets down, she turns and leaps back sailing over your head and then settling down behind your bulk. "Come on!"

Several of the small fireballs end up impacting against your body and scorching off patches of fur as you furiously scamper back around.

Ouch, ow, ow, ow.

A grunt of pain erupts from your throat as fur is singed and flesh is burnt. Individually none of them do much damage at all, but there are a lot of them attacking. You do your very best not to think about just how high that number is, knowing that the terror from fully comprehending such a thing could very well lead to you go still from fear. Which in turn could cause your direct death. You very much don't want to freeze in place and get pummeled into deletion.

Thankfully you're faster than the Goblimon and quickly begin gaining distance, though not without some frantic zig-zagging to avoid the majority of their fireballs. Fu spends the entire time keeping your bulk between herself and the danger, only hopping up to briefly shoot back at the pursuing enemies before once again sinking back into safety. You in the other hand continue to suffer damage as the flames land all around and occasionally on you. Soon your rear end and back have transformed into a patchwork sensation of constantly aching pains.

Risking a single look back, you spot the howling horde of hellacious hooligans still in pursuit and almost freeze up. However your momentum thankfully keeps you going, and this glance also allows you to spot how Flamemon and Gramps are faring against the mechanical Champions. Both rookies are little more than vague red blurs, dodging around the bigger mons' clumsy swipes while retaliating with blasts of electricity and fire respectively. Not that either of them seem to be doing any damage, as their opponents' armor, tough even for a Champion's, simply shrugs off the comparatively weak attacks.

You continue running, trying (and failing) not to cry from the pain until you finally manage to reach the nearby trees, which provide a good deal of cover against your foes' ranged attacks. Fu, on the other paw, doesn't have that problem and simply continues plinking away at the Goblimon with her many seeds. While you don't like leaving Flamemon and Gramps alone, the shameful fact is that you're not actually strong enough to help. It's only on the tenth step in that you remember something. Namely a certain Demi-Meramon.

In the next instant you skid to a stop and begin looking around wildly in a bid to locate the small digimon.

Sparks! Wh-where is he?! Nononono.

Despite your best efforts it proves impossible to locate the sapient ball of flying fire (not that your pained, panicked state helps things) as he's not behind the tree you saw him hide behind. A few times you think you spot him, but it just proves to be fireballs thrown by the Goblimon. Nearly overwhelmed by the fear of a worst case scenario, you eventually resort to to simply yelling his name in the hope that it'll alert the In-Training digimon that you're trying to find him.

"Sparks! S-sparks! Where are you!?"

"Look out!" Fu screams.

What?

Then a heavy, studded club smashes directly into your face with a mighty *Thwack*

"Gramps! Help, Verge is- Gaaah!"

Stars fly across your vision and you reel away from the surprise attack, barely managing to stay on your feet. A second club hits you in the side, and then a third smashes against your back leg, then a fourth, then a fifth. A living mass of green, brown and pain bears you to the ground and from there it only gets worse. When a pair of sharp blows to the head blow away your consciousness you're more thankful than anything else.

"It-It hurts... Pl-please stop-"

"It's not enough. You have to keep going! Get back on your feet! Rise up and Try again!"

"RAAAAGH!"

You erupt from of the charred pile of Goblimon, tossing the mass of blackened and rapidly deteriorating bodies off with a wordless bellow. Shouts of surprise and fear erupt from the surrounding rookies at your sudden resurgence, you pay them no mind, the pure concentrated wrath flowing from your core has only a single purpose. Through the crimson haze you spot a brief flash of movement as something turns to run, it doesn't make it more than two steps before your largest drill plunges into its back. Ignoring the pained screams you thrusts your claws deep into the digital monster then pull each paw to opposite sides. Ignoring the resulting rain of data around you, you drop what remains and growl.

More screams, other blurry figures begin to run and something else hits you hard in the back of the head. Whatever pain you might have felt from it is numbed by a sense of unyielding, unforgiving rage as you turn towards the creature that dared to cause you harm. Yet another strike lashes out against your face and is summarily ignored as thrust a paw filled with rapidly revolving drills down into the things head. Even as it collapses you leap onto a new target, bearing it down with your mass and piercing through its chest with the weapons on your other paw, effectively pinning it into the earth. It squeals in pain and struggles to break free even as your maw comes ever closer. The enemies final screams are muffled as bite down on the squealing blur and then force your jaws completely shut.

*Crunch*

Snarling with fury, you push yourself back up and look around for the next object to vent your anger towards-

"Seed Blast!"

-but are soon cut off from the insensate rampaging as several hard objects slam against the burnt, bruised flesh of your body in quick succession, ripping another bellow of pain from your throat. Pivoting towards the source of the pain you get back on all fours and break into a sprint, nose rapidly spinning and ready to bore straight through whatever attacked you.

"S-stop! Verge they're done! Don't-don't do this!... F-fufufu?"

Fu?

Your left back leg gives out mid-step, sending you crashing to the ground in a misshapen heap. Whatever berserk anger that had been keeping you aloft rapidly fades away, only pain coming in its place. The urge to simply close your eyes and let go claws at your mind and for a moment you almost give in. However you quickly remember just how urgent the situation is as memories of Flamemon fighting flood in, crushing your fatigue and fear.

He-he's fighting. I have to... have to see.

Moaning weakly, you open your eyes struggle to shift around in an attempt to see how the other fight is going, and soon you are able to see how the immediate situation has panned out.

Of the thirty or so rookies which had erupted from the mine, less than half of those still remain in the realm of the living. Large scorch marks adorn the ground centered around the area in which you'd been overwhelmed, almost as if multiple strikes of lightning had erupted over the mass of Goblimon. Several others are unconscious, having either been knocked out by Fu or caught the weaker arcs from what you're pretty sure was Gramps attack. Three others have just tossed down their weapons and curled up and you barely catch a glimpse of the rest simply sprinting away through the woods.

Upon actually seeing the clearing in front of the mineshaft you spot Gnaw squaring off against the leftmost mechanical digimon, laughing uproariously as he dodges its strikes and then retaliates with his claws, not that they're doing more than leaving light scratches on the much tougher Champion. His attempts at freezing the bigger digimon prove similarly worthless as the bulky robot can simply break free of the creeping frost and walls of ice without any notable strain.

Meanwhile on the other side Flamemon and Gramps have joined forces against a single enemy, attacking at alternating angles and distances while easily avoiding the Champion's attempted counterattacks. Neither of them however are even so much as scuffing the tough metal armor. For once the scarred Elecmon's lightning isn't powerful enough as the most he does is cause small bits and pieces of metal to crack or blacken slightly.

"Gramps!" Your best friend shouts as he backsteps to avoid an earth-shattering stomp. "I have an awesome idea!"

"Hrm? I can't believe I'm saying this, By The Warriors Ten I'm listening!" The villages caretaker replies, darting left to dodge a grasping metal hand.

"Haha! Great! The Dome! We shall combine our pow- ack!" Flamemon flinches as a small jolt of electricity zaps his chest. "Um, I mean-"

"I get it!" Gramps growls, "On three! The front center!" Together the powerful pair of rookies navigate the battlefield, dodging yet another series of swings that rip free huge chunks of rock from the nearby mountainside. "One..." Gramps shouts, his nine tails crackling with massive amounts of electrical energy "Two..." Flamemon roars as his body is completely engulfed in deep red fire "Three!"

"Sparkling Thunder!"

"Baby Salamander!"

Twin blasts of fire and lightning tear through the air, each with almost as much power as one would expect to see out of a Champion, and wash over the dark blue dome at the top of the Champion level digimon's head. Cracks ripple across the surface and the mechanical digimon stops attacking in a bid to bring its gigantic hands up defensively. Unfortunately it's just a hair's breadth too late and the covering shatters under the combined attack. The action still momentarily saves the now revealed pilot from a painful demise, though not from harm itself as gramps leaps up over the defense and sends a jolt of lightning down to fry the Goblimon and by extension the controls.

"Bwahaha! That's it!" Gnaw cackles, taking aim at the same area on his opponents. "Garuru Thrust!" Darting forward, the BlackGarurumon leaps up onto the bigger Champion and drags a claw over the dark blue dome tearing a set of large gashes through the more material. This also renders gnaw truly vulnerable for the first time since the fight began. Being stuck in one place allows the mechanical digimon to bring its arms back and squeeze your friend against its chest. His laugh warps into a yelp of pain as The BlackGarurumon is crushed.

Gnaw!

Gramps and Flamemon both rush over to help, however the enemy Champion pivots allowing their attacks to harmlessly wash against his side armor. Just then, you spot something odd hovering nearby the damaged dome, a small ball of fire. Horror rises up in your chest as you realize what, or rather who it must be, and Sparks flies in through the largest gash of the protective covering. Less than half a moment later several licks of flame erupts from the holes along with a high pitched cry of pain.

Sparks!

Blinding beams of white light flash out from the dome and you hear a voice shout:

"Demi-Meramon Digivolve To! ... Candlemon!"

Your best friend and the village caretaker pause in shock at the new development, while Gnaw lets out a pained chuckle at the events, his head at just the right level where he can see what's happening inside through the holes he made. What sounds like another Goblimon begins shrieking.

"Gwaaa! It burns! It burns!"

A moment later the large machine digimon's arms unfurl, dropping Gnaw to the ground with a heavy thump. Your BlackGarurumon friend rolls over back onto his feet a moment later, then sits down patiently waiting for something. The dome pops open next and a screaming, wax covered rookie is bodily tossed free from the pilot seat leaving only a single digimon left inside.

"Hey Big Bro! Look what I got!" Sparks shouts excitedly, using his newly formed hands to grab ahold of the revealed controls. "By the Ten I call keeps!" The rookie shouts, oddly enough using one of Gramps' phrases.

"Whoa." Flamemon breathes, stunned by the new development. " Uh… great work Sparks!" your best friend awkwardly shouts after a moment, giving the newly evolved digimon out a thumbs up and a big grin. Gramps just shakes his head slowly and then mutters something you can't hear from this distance away.

Satisfied that everything is okay you finally close your eyes, cast off the massive amounts of pain and drift off into blissful unconsciousness. The last thing you hear is angry shouting from Fu.

"Stop laughing you dummies! Verge is hurt!"

===When you next wake up it's:

Authors Note: Yeah this was a pretty big one for me, would have been easier and probably faster on my previous set up. Eh, I'm just happy that I was able to get this out to everyone today! Originally it was going to be maybe 500 words longer but I realized that didn't make sense with how hurt Verge was. This ends up being a sort of blessing I suppose as it allows me to get the update out faster :V

Also thanks to everyone for getting this thread to page 50! I never thought it'd get this far so soon. Post Beta'd by @no.

Huh, that went better the I thought. Though now I worry for Sparks, as he is now on the wizardmon line and those guys have it just as bad as the leomon line in surviving things.

Bah, I wish I could have beta'd the whole update before it was posted, but Drexal's power was going out so I couldn't do the very last bit. Ah well, I can work on that part now at least.

[X] On something cold and hard, the big *Thumps* of each step shaking you.

I'm intrigued.

Edit: Aaaaaaand done, though it seems that Drexal's power went out for real now.

Also, I'm surprised Verge didn't get a boost to Fighting Skill, though I suppose losing your shit and ripping and tearing won't exactly help you hone your formal, technical skill.

No, I was just busy editing in the last Beta'd part.:p

He did.

He did.
...how did I beta read the entire update but not see that part o_O?

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure that this vote is about when Verge wakes up. Warm fast thing is while being initially carried, cold hard thing with thumps is while being brought back to the village by the stolen corpse-mech, and comfortable warm thing is in a bed with either Gramps or Flamemon waiting for us to wake up. I'd rather wake up sooner in order to get more plot, but I also want to spook Verge, so I'm keeping with my cold hard thump vote.

Just because I want to be there when Gnaw finds out what his bloodlust did to Auger. Since how he reacts to that will be very telling about the mon he will grow into and become.

Well, 3 or so points all went to Fortitude in the last little while so I'm following through with my rule.
Wait, rule? *goes to Informational*
Stat points as the most common and plentiful form of reward have their limits as well. If a person has multiple points they cannot put them all into a single stat. If one stat is too much higher than all the others then I'll Veto putting more in until it's less ridiculous. Though honestly, I probably won't have to enforce that one very much if at all. Lastly if someone is artificially raise a stat too much, they'll have to switch it up every now and again.
Oooooooh. Okay then.
