I'm actually thinking dig and potentially cave in something. Auger is armored enough to tank it but the Shamanmon would likely flee

You all remember it takes like 10 seconds to dig a hole deep enough to hide in right?
Actually, now that's been cut down by a few seconds. Verge is 5 points faster, about 7 points stronger and roughly twice as skilled as he was two days ago. Now for him it's more like 6-7 seconds.

Edit: In short he's better at digging now than at then at the start of the quest.

While that is very useful info, that still feels like it would take to long to not get a club to the back when we try to dig away though.

Honestly, it would depend on how long it took for him to switch focus to us and how he'd react, if he starts swinging on instinct he'll definitely hit us before we can go under the ground, I think we have a good chance of it imo.

I have learned two things from this encounter.

A. We need to stat grind like hell. We should focus on Fortitude so we can take hits and speed so we're not slow as a snail. Plus digging speed will probably go up as well.

B. Until Cowards gone no more adventuring options that are Verge's idea. Also if something goes wrong then it's someone elses fault.

[X] Dig away. Try to get underground as fast as you can and hide from him.

Snap we should have gone with gnaw, mainly because Auger doesn't seem particularly combat oriented. Oh well, I guess we'll try and dig away, we honestly don't have any other solution. The dude doesn't seem the type to listen to basic reasoning.

I agree that we need t up the grinding 100% and we need to find more ways to lower the dominance of cowardice as a trait.

So funny thought here, but what do we do when this mon leaves?

Do we try to following under ground and figure out what is going on here or head back and report to gramps?

Also, while we might be safe once we go under, what do we do about Auger?

Because are we just hoping he doesn't get grabbed or are we planning to try to dig towards him and bring him to safety underground too?

I was actually thinking about being a truly cheeky bastard and doing a loop around back to the foot out of spite, as in we collapse the tunnel behind us (if we can pull Auger in), grab as much loot as we can carry then report everything to gramps.

Honestly it sounds a bit convoluted, so my more simple plan is to check on Auger to make sure he's okay. Maybe see if there's anything we can do for him, such as getting him water or lending him a shoulder to stagger back home. Than we report everything to gramps ASAP, see how Gnaw did, and return to the foot in force (if nothing else talking to the boss dude will reveal more backstory and about the potential danger that is killing his workforce).

Um guys Verge is terrified and is in no way thinking clearly. Nor is he even brave enough to consider even trying any of those plans.

Best case scenario is we get underground, Dig to Augur somehow, Pull him under, and than DIG THE HELL OUT OF THERE!

I-I have to g-get away!

Your head swing down, eyes gazing towards the ground below. While there's no way you can run away from the digimon that just beat up Auger, perhaps it might be possible to hide underground until he leaves. So with fear-driven speed you rev up your drills and begin clawing at the ground below. You dig like your life depends on it and so far as you know, it just might.

Dirt is rapidly torn away and small rocks are shattered as you desperately begin to dig a tunnel towards safety. The ground is quickly sundered as you dig far faster than ever before. Perhaps it was the training with Flamemon, or all the stone you'd been breaking apart recently, but soon your entire body is slinking underground. For a moment elation rises through your body, safety is so close. Just a little more and you'd be free of this green rookies threat.

C-come on please. Please!

However it doesn't prove to be enough. A vice wraps around your left ankle as it pushes up dirt, then with a mighty roar it begins pulling you free from your haven.

Nononononono

You scream, struggle, and grip the sides of your freshly dug hole but it's a pointless endeavor. The actions only slow your ascent for a half second before the strange Goblimon plucks you free from the earth.

"Erk" The rookie grunts, his arm shaking from the strain. "You're...heavy" He takes a step to the left then with another grunt of effort tosses you away. Your back hit the ground hard forcing the air from your body with a whimper.

A moment passes as you try to cope with what's happening, to figure a way out, to pray for someone to come help. Something wet begins to drip down your cheeks.

"F-Flamemon. P-please"

Two blurry green feet come into view, then something hits your side hard. The blow forces you over, rolling back to your front. Another whimper rips free from your mouth, and it's quickly joined by more as attack after attack lands on your body.

"You shouldn't have tried to get away" The vicious rookie growls, raising his weapon up once again.

It hurts, it hurts, It Hurts, It. Hurts!

A red haze crawls over your vision, hate pours out from your core. Wrath from what he'd done to Auger. To what he was doing to you. New energy forces you to rise up, claws furiously spinning.

"What The!-"

"Screw Claw!"

Then Darkness.

Two warm arms wrap around your body a with them come strange feelings. Safety, comfort and....something else.

"Hush little one It's alright, I'm here. E-everything's going to be okay"

I got the first half of the update done, so I figured I'd post it. The rest will come later tonight.

Well. I didn't consider Wrath would be able to activate.

Also I think we may have critically wounded that guy. I don't care what the difference in stats are! When getting hit in the face with Drill Claws from another mon on the same level it will Definitely hurt like hell! Especially since that Shammamon was caught off guard and couldn't defend himself in time.

Also any Idea on who's talking to us?

I'm betting we're getting a flashback from our old lives.

Or it could be a memory of when we were Flamemon's Ward.

That was defintely not what I was expecting to happen either.

Well that worked out better then expected.

Turns out if you can drill though solid earth and rock you can drill though flesh who knew?

If this did actually end the fight I can see Verge going two ways.

Option 1: holy shit... am I actually strong? This rage... it feels bad but it's saved me twice now. Maybe I should try to use it while fighting more.

Option 2: Oh Draxil what have I done what is this? I killed him I didn't want to kill him. It's this thing in me!

TLDR we're going to see Verge acknowledging his rage next time and weither or not it's a good thing. As it has saved him but it should also scare him more then usual especially if he deletes his opponent here.

Few problems there my friend.

First I doubt we are in a state of mind to even begin thinking about things like that. Two funny enough we never technically "Fought" anyone before. Flamemon was training, We Flailed against the golbimon, and this was just the out burst of a cornered digimon.

Also just realized Verge doesn't know any pantheons meaning he can't say the equivalent of "Dear (insert deity here)".

Three I highly doubt we deleted him. He's the first boss and he hadn't received damage prior to the attack for the ten's sake. At best we critically wounded him and caused him to retreat. Even "if" we did slay him we blacked out after the attack so we wouldn't even know we deleted him.

I bet hard bit the next time we meet that Shammamon he's going to have scars on his face.

Cowardly Drimogemon Quest? Hell yeah!

Verge also kinda reminds me of Courage the Cowardly Dog.
