Eh? I earned bonus points? how? was it my logic on Mistimon earlier? something else? I have so many questions.
Well if I did, then I'll stick mine into Agility I suppose..? I cannot into thinky-think right now.

Right! Time to do a vote count, see how things are trending in terms of votes.

@Zwart Jaeger @Todorius @TempestK
@sidestory

I think that's everyone who's earned bonus points in the last pages.

!!! More points. Chuck mine into Agility when its open please.

Edit: As a btw, I personally think we should head more towards teaching Sparks some high programming. Versatility and more abilities seem to be a generally good idea, especially since we're already taking classes on language as it is, it'll make the process easier for us relatively speaking.

Plus I think this kills two birds with one stone, we'll be training together with Sparks to get stronger for our long term goal of BURNING VENGEANCE. We'll also gain another mon who has more utility, since he's missing an arm it'll allow him to make up for his loss somewhat. Finally, we get to spend some quality time with Sparks on something productive that will help us work through our traumas on something constructive something that Sparring really doesn't provide.

This is more of a long term goal though, in the very short term some time for quiet reflextion, mourning and maybe some grave creation may be the better option.

Darn. Everyone is putting their points into agility recently. Next time I'm going to have it be a condition of reinforcing any stat except agility.

One issue with that seems to be that one's level of talent at High Programming is very important for being able to use it well, and Verge only figured out basic stuff so fast because he's very talented at it. Sparks, on the other hand, seems to be pretty bad at stuff like that judging by the classroom scenes.

Can we used the idea of the healing spell while sparring with Sparks? We have two charges to use to heal the both of us.
For those not taking part in the discord chat, the idea in question was to fight until someone dropped then heal them and repeat until daily heals were used up.

This levels High Programming Language in addition to an increase in fighting skill and stat gains.

It might also increase our heals per day over time.

Not really talented per say. We just kept doing it over and over again repeatedly with Sorcerymon for a decent while. We weren't talented we just didn't stop till we had it.
Sorcerymon also said that Verge had a higher natural aptitude for it than he'd ever expect from a non-city mon. Furthermore, one of Verge's listed character traits is that he's mathematically skilled. In fact, after honing these skills studying high programming, in multiple different update's he's counted things in the high double digits extremely quickly.

The thing is we kind of are city mon now in that we now recieve the education of basic mathamatics and language. We should use this advantage while we can, and supplement Spark's education with some High programming. Plus it might give him more interest in classes if he knows it has a practical use.

The way the city wants to give us schooling might also be different if they find out that we've got an unusual aptitude for magic.
"Wait. You know how to do High Programming?"
"...Yes?"
"You've got the job then!"
"Wait what-"
"Guys! Say hello to your new High Programming teacher!"
"Please stop-"
"Hello Mr. Verge!"
"..."

Right! Update is finished at 2300 words. It's just going to be an hour or two until I can get it beta'd and out for your pleasure.

Until then here's a little tidbit. Verge makes a horrifying realization.:p

3rd Day Of Light: Sparring & *Sergeant Scratch*
[] Try some sparring with Sparks. The two of you need to get stronger.

[] Headbutt.

===

Yesterday afternoon you went out beside the mansion with Sparks to attempt a bit of sparring. In a way, it was meant to bring reality to your combined oath of becoming strong enough to defeat Count and his minions, and get the necessary power to rescue your siblings.

Sparks is surprisingly happy at your suggestion, showing a hint of his prior enthusiasm as he actually rushes ahead of you to the nearby grassy field. Of course, due to your greater speed, you end up catching up to him rather easily.

The fight itself starts innocently enough, with your friend creating some distance between the two of you, then excitedly chucking fireballs from his fiery head. it takes a few painful burns to get into the proper rhythm of dodging and blocking properly while moving forward, eventually you get it down. From there it's just a matter of closing the gap, which proves to be fairly easy. Sparks isn't really the best at hitting moving targets, or firing when one the move himself.

Considering that he'd spent most of his training time back in the village practicing with his Mechanorimon, it makes an odd amount of sense.

When you finally do get close enough to attack and lumber up onto your hind legs for a swipe, the one armed Candlemon just freezes up, his mouths both widening in horror. You try to stop your attack, but are only partially successful, turning it down to light tap instead of a full swing. However, that light tap still knocks the rigid rookie over and sets him to crying.

Needless to say, that quickly stops the spar in its tracks. Despite your numerous apologies to him, you can't help but feel guilty about what happened. In fact Sparks is rather insistent on saying that it's his fault. You're a bit unsure what to make of it.

At the very least you do find out that you can now cast your healing spell twice per day! That's rather nice surprise; you never realize how much more convenient it is to have two of something unless you've only had one It's the same with..Well other new developments.

===

The grin, the body, those arms wrapping around you. It's all too much. Your instincts scream DANGER, and your core explodes with WRATH. However, even though the two conflicting forces, one simple fact stands out.

It isn't Her

Bellowing in rage, you barely manage to wrench your head to the side before slams your skull down into the top of the orange-haired champions head. A mighty *Crack* booms out even as the left side of your face blossoms into a flower of agony.

"Get-get off him!" Sparks shrieks, and a moment later you feel some sort of hot sensation flowing over the edges of your torso.

Ardat reels back from you, though she looks more surprised than anything else. Her clothes don't even look the least bit singed from your friend's attack. The female digimon's pointy teeth twist back up into another infernal Grin even as her single eye lights up with glee. She twirls the broom in her left hand and slams it down into the ground again.

"Fluffy One? You dare to challenge me-"

*Bomp*

Frigimon's open open mit whacks the back of her head, cutting the tirade off before it can truly begin.

"Now sweetie. I know you're excited and cold, but you can't go around doing that. Those two little ones have had a hard time as of late. They're currently a little… jumpy. Don't wake it worse."

Ardat finishes rubbing her head, then smirks up at the caretaker defiantly.

"The great Ardat has moved beyond the limits of your authority, Frigimon! She-nono not supposed to use third person out of introductions anymore, it's so uncool. *Ahem* You can't tell me what to do anymore!" With that she sticks her tongue at the much larger digimon and slams her broom down once again.

You take this chance to grab the relieved Sparks and slink away from the pair of champions.

Frigimon's hands tighten into fists, and for a moment you think she's going to throw a punch. However the clearly older digimon takes a deep breath, and heavily claps her hands together. Her next words are eerily cheery.

"Dearie me! It seems that you've forgotten something very important, Witchmon!" With that she raises her arms up above her head and proceeds to summon a massive ball of snow into existence. "Your manners!"

"...I'm sorry" The newly identified digimon bows down in apology so fast that her hat falls to the ground. "Please don't hit me with that Frigimon. I'm already cold."

"Heh, she's not so tough after all." Sparks chuckles, only to flinch back as the witch digimon shoots a glare his way.

Is Frigimon that strong?

"Apology accepted, sweetie." the massive ice digimon nods, letting the pile of snow fall back behind her. "Now, little one, can you tell me why you're here?"

"Y-yes Ma'am!" Ardat springs up and brings her now flat hand up to her head in some sort of gesture. "Sergeant Scratch is coming this way to meet with you. The others are advancing up a rank so we need a couple of new rookies for the squad."

Sergeant Scratch?... That sounds important.

Frigimon pauses for a second at her words, then nods once.

"Would you like a sandwich, Ardat?"

"The barren pit shall be appeased!"

What?

"What?"

"I'll grab two then." The bigger digimon answers, somehow. "Just be a dear and watch over the class, will you?"

"Have no fear, I, The Grandmaster of wind-" You tune out the rest of her monologue, instead choosing to watch as Frigimon turns back towards the nearby mansion.

She really is an enigma; it's clear as day that there's a lot behind that exaggerated, docile persona (although you suspect that to a degree she just really is like that), but you've got no clue at all what it could be.

Thankfully, you're not forced to interact with the witch digimon anymore. Instead you're treated to the sight of Drop moving up to happily welcome the champion back. By your guess, that means that the two actually know each other already. The Otamamon doesn't waste any time in introducing her *new best friend* Beat, who neither confirms nor denies the statement choosing instead to focus on finishing his sandwich. The two very strange mon talk for a bit, and from what you're able to tell they're friends of some sort.

However, it also reveals some new information you weren't expecting when the large blue rookie asks her about the strange covering on her face. Namely that the 'eyepatch' she has over her right eye doesn't actually serve a function. Rather, the champion only has it on because:

"It makes me look cooler!" Something about that makes you grind your teeth in anger, but it's difficult to pin down why that is exactly. After that they talk for a few minutes before the taller mon mentions that the mansion has a number of books she should read to help her with her "goddess play", whatever that's supposed to mean. This, of course, has the very exact response you'd have expected, even in your very short time knowing Drop.

As in, the rookie breaking into tears, calling out that she's not a fake, and running over to the bizarrely nonplussed Wormmon to cry in front of him.

Frigimon comes back a little while later, carrying another couple platters of food, including two sandwiches made of entire loaves of travel bread. You, together with a few other rookies, manage to get a second helping of lunch while the witch digimon begins eating her own meal. Meanwhile your eye spots something odd, something grey walking off in the distance. The digimon gets continually closer as the seconds pass, fast-walking up behind Ardat with nary a sound.

She's halfway through her second sandwich before the grey digimon lets out a cough.

Ardat bolts up straight, eating forgotten and then blurs into motion. In the next moment she's giving the same strange gesture to the shorter digimon, her meal mysteriously gone.

"Fledgling Witchmon," His gruff monotone voice sounds out. "Report."

"Yessir! Frigmon has been informed as you asked, Sergeant!"

So that's Scratch... Is he even stronger than Frigimon?

"Doesn't look that tough to me"
Sparks whispers into your ear.

"Is that right?" Scratch turns over to look at the caretaker. "Did she cause any trouble?" The orange-haired champion gives a nervous gulp at that, but Frigimon laughs it off and shakes her head.

"Of course not. Little Ardat merely...Lightened up our luncheon."

"Hmm. Right." He states, still monotone turns over to Frigimon and then bows. "My apologies for her actions."

On second thought, 'monotone' isn't quite right. It's more like a carefully cultivated blandness, all traces of individuality smoothly pushed to the side in favor of a demeanor that's 100% no non-sense. Almost like Gramps whenever he lightly scolded someone.

"Hohoho. No worries Scratch, I'm just glad to see my favorite cute little witchmon again." Ardat turns away at those words, her face flushing with embarrassment. The short armored digimon on the other paw shrugs, then turns away to look over the assembled class. He spends a full minute just staring over the group, but his eyes end up lingering on Sparks and Beat the most. Just from the moment of attention you get when his gazes passes by your location, fills you with a strange sense of dread.

"Fledgling, stay with the group. Frigimon, I need their scans." With that he gives the Witchmon a final nod, then strides off towards the mansion along with the larger champion. Once they're out of sight you let out a sigh of relief, and move to talk with Sparks again- but are interrupted as Beat moves up to the female digimon and speaks, using the same line from when he'd challenged you.

"Fight me."

"Oh? You wish to battle me? Ardat the great and powerful-" She's cut off mid-speech as the Wormmon shoots a strand of string over her mouth, quite literally shutting her up.

What follows next is not a battle. No that would be giving the insect digimon too much credit. The more accurate designation is that after ripping the silk free she plays with the rookie for a bit, laughing mockingly at his attempts to hurt her or push her around with his silk, before finishing things with a single backhand. This knocks the small green mon out with a single blow, much to the Otamamon's very vocal horror and Dracmon's amusement. No one else challenges her after that, leading to a few relatively peaceful hours where the Witchmon spends most of her time talking.

She rather boisterously tells the group stories about her adventures over the past couple of weeks. As it turns out, she'd only recently joined the Blessed Host under sergeant Scratch's squad, though that time had been filled with near constant combat. Together you and Sparks learn that the Gloaming has in the last three weeks started sending forces north of Flux mountains in an effort to create outposts and recruit native digimon. *Sergeant Scratch* was flown up on the mayor MasterTyrannomon's request and transferred up here in an effort to slow their advance until reinforcements arrived. But now that they have, the rest of their *squad* has been transferred over to the command of someone called 'Angewomon' who'll officially be leading the counter operations from now on.

You listen intently to her words along with Sparks, trying to find out anything about the commander of the *push*, but sadly the Witchmon doesn't say anything related to that topic.

Eventually Frigimon comes back and moves your group back to the mansion for supper. Which turns out to be some sort of weird strings and lumps of meat covered in a red near-liquid. The KoDokugumon try their tactics again, attempting to scare the other rookies, but quickly find themselves quickly swept up by a pair of clawed hands.

Seeing them in the Witchmon's grasp has your data ready to boil, but your worries are somewhat assuaged by her cries of "They're so cool!" and the ensuing warbles of happiness as she feeds them portions of her meal. After a while the Otamamon speaks up.

"Sooooooo... Who do you think will be chosen for the squad? It would only make sense for a glorious goddess like myself to be the first and foremost option for the selection!"

"Please, I bet he'd take the cripple over there before you." Dracmon snorts, ignoring Sparks glare. "He'll choose Beat, he's the strongest-" The strange virus digimon pauses then turns to look at you. "...second strongest here. By my guess, the big scary guy will be picked too."

Me?... I'm scary? Since when?!

It slowly begins to dawn on you just why the other rookies had reacted to you the way they did in the past few days. While you're trying to battle the slow sense of horror creeping its way up your spine, Sparks gives you a worried look, and even if doesn't speak up about it, you can tell that he's worried about the other rookies' words.

"Don't worry about it, sweeties." Frigimon says reassuringly. "Sir Scratch is going to wait a few days before making his choice."
