You impassively gaze after the four digimon, and for a brief half-second you're very tempted to do as Sparks said and continue on. However a memory pops into your mind.
I-I may have never wanted to be one but... I'll force myself to change. I'll make myself into someone that Flamemon can be proud of. Someone Lunamon and Thresh can look up to. Someone that can become a hero just like him.
Would Flamemon just let this happen? They could delete her.
The question ends is not hard to answer, there's only one thing he would say. So you turn around and lumber after the fleeing rookies.
Sparks begins hopping towards the door, but after a few seconds realizes that you're not following him.
"Verge?! Hey-wait!"
With a small grunt of exertion you charge after the Otamamon's pursuers, leaving your slower friend behind and catching up with the trio just as they manage to corner the still crying digimon. Surprisingly, the ball-like digimon doesn't actually shy away after her escape is cut off, but rather she quite literally puffs herself up and pridefully stares them down. Though the effect is slightly ruined given how her eyes are still covered with tears. You take a moment to listen before anything else.
"You-You both should be grateful for to provide a goddess with tribute!"
In response the bug and lizard rookies let out cries of anger.
"Tribute? You said that you'd give us double the bits to pay for taking our desserts!"
"Exactly! Buzz Buzz, Pay up or else!"
"
...I spent all my bits already." she quietly admits, deflating back down again.
"But. But I have more coming! Just let me talk to Beat. He's lent me money before."
"So he can beat us all up again?! No way!"
The Gabumon(? at least you reason it's a Gabumon, since it isn't black like Gnaw was) between them lets out a sighs and gently uses his hands to pull the smaller two rookies back from hitting blue mon.
"Ugh. It's your faults for believing Drop." He growls with a shake of his head. "She's an idiot when it comes to money. Next time listen to Dracmon when he tells you this stuff!"

Hey… Hey!" She shouts indignantly "
Don't call me and idiot! I'm the glorius guardian of the net Ocean!"
Fu...
"Net Ocean?" Sparks whispers, having finally caught up.
"Hrmph, what's that supposed to be?" You don't know how to answer him. The name sounds familiar, though you're unsure how or even
why that is.
"And you!" The Gabumon rounds on the formerly fleeing digimon. "Apologize for taking their desserts! Your little protector isn't here to save you this time!" You take this time to rear up onto your hind legs, ready to intervene just in case they do start to hit *Drop*.
Her face scrunches up, tears coming to her eyes again as she looks to start wailing again. (
Basically like this) Then she finally spots you rising up behind her *captors* and lets out a fear-filled shriek. With surprising speed and strength she bursts out of the rough semi-circle, easily knocking the slightly larger insect digimon out of the way in the process.
"
Waaaaaaah! Help! Beat! There's a big scary digimon, help!" She takes off at even faster speeds than before, still screaming for *Beat's* help, whoever that is.
The three rookies turn to give chase...Only to freeze as they notice your form looming above them. Even their tallest member, the Gabumon, seems to be a good two feet shorter than you, with the rest barely reaching up to your waist. They immediately cower back against the wall and for a moment you're confused as to why. Then you notice the hissing and feel Warren climbing onto your nose. His brothers each join in a quarter-moment later, climbing up upon your shoulders to join in on the intimidation.
You look down at the small green lizard and for some reasons he lets out a whimper of all things.
"Don't hurt me! The other two are stronger than I am!"
"What's wrong with them? You-you're not even mad..." The Candlemon trails off, clearly weirded out by their reaction, but after a few seconds finally seems to get it. "
Heh." Besides you Sparks lets out a single chuckle.
"They're scared."
Scared? I'll rip them apart! Why would they be scared?
Your stomach lets out a deep rumble, and on cue it sets off another round of whimpers as the rookies try to make themselves as small as possible.
"Listen up!" The fire type mon beside you loudly barks in his best imitation of Gramps' *Annoyed tone*
"We're new arrivals her and need to speak with Frigimon!" his voice surprisingly
confident of all things, a far cry from his unsure words only a minute ago.
The Gabumon nervously stands up, not daring to look at your remaining eye and nervously begins to speak.
"I can take you to her." The three KoDokugumon take his words for surrender or something similar at least and beat a retreat back into your thick back fur.
"Good!" Sparks replies, actively glaring at the younger(?) mon.
"Then do it." The other two rookies take this moment to scatter away, leaving the coat-wearing mon by himself. He swallows, then begins to somewhat stiffly start moving back towards the building. On occasion he fearfully glances back, though never for than a moment before he jerkily turns back, but you ignore it. At this point you're just kind of going along with things now that it's clear that they never intended to delete the Otamamon.
He leads you in through the now open doors, and into the building proper. Where, right away, you are greeted by a large staircase leading up onto the second floor. The Gabumon leads you up the steps, then continues to the right through a hall. Your group stops however as a large white digimon strides along into sight from a nearby room.
"Frigimon-these-are-uh-these-guys-wanted-to-see-you!" The cloaked rooke hastily shouts before breaking off into a desperate sprint away.
Danger flashes across your senses as the champion raises its arm up, but vanishes a second later as the mits lands on either side of her face.
"Dearie me! What happened to you?!" The digimon's voice is high-pitched, surprisingly so considering her bulk. "Come along now sweeties, let me fetch you something to eat!" She steps forward, reaching out with long cold arms and casually sweeps both you and Sparks down the hall. You don't know why, but something about her voice is... calming. You're not even bothered by the dampness in your fur from where she touches you.
In what feels like mere moments, the champion moves you back a dozen feet and then into a small packed with strange tools, some of which vaguely resemble Gramps' cauldron. Before you know it, there's another loaf of travel bread in your paws, while the three KoDokugumon are munching by your feet on a few small pieces of meat.
Sparks seems to be in somewhat of a daze initially, not seeming to quite understand what happened, but perks up as the Frigimon hands him a bowl of something. Even through the mental fog, you can notice the steaming tears rolling down his waxy body. After a moment you simply shrug, and decide to save the thinking for when you're done eating.
She only speaks up again once everyone is done eating, this time urging you to follow her.
"Now come along, it's off to sleep with all of you. We'll talk in the morning."
Sparks tries to protest (Keyword being try) saying that he's not tired yet, but all of his strange confidence drains away as the champion just looks directly at him. The one-armed rookie devolves back to his previous state of clinging to your side as the strange white digimon leads you away.
Unlike the Candlemon, you wouldn't mind sleeping. Not only are you tired, but your chest is aching for some reason. The urge to cry is continually fighting to bring tears to your remaining functional eye. Frigimon leads the two of you into a room filled with rookie-sized mats lining the sides. You don't waste any time in moving left over to the nearest one and flopping down, even if the bed is sadly too small for you to actually fit upon. You turn and contort yourself in different ways, but at least one leg end up on the floor no matter what you try. Sparks is a bit more hesitant taking the bed directly to your right.
The KoDokugumon still use your fur for their sleeping place.
"I'll leave you two sweeties here for tonight. Don't worry, you're safe now." Her words get a snort of derision from Sparks, if only a quiet one.
Sleep comes easily but under the screams of battle, and the laughing form of Repulsa, it's not a pleasant one.
