Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

So, something interesting I just noticed.

Due to Sega's Anarite Generators ability, her Health increases by 75% of her maximum each turn. She also has a rather strong self-buff spell in the form of Limit Break. I did some spreadsheet math with these, and found that there's actually a reasonably soon point at which Sega can deal non-lethal damage to Juggernaut Drive.

This point occurs after 4 turns of Anarite Generators, which brings Sega's Health to 74,087, and while Sega has one stack of Limit Break active. This results in the following math.

Grand Dragon Slayer: 49,832 Base Damage, +[1d350] Dice, +7,474 Worried About You, +29,071 Limit Break = 86,377 - 86,727 Damage
Grand Dragon Slayer: 49,832 Base Damage, +[1d350] Dice, +7,474 Worried About You, +29,071 Limit Break = 86,377 - 86,727 Damage

259,131 - 260,181 Total Damage.

Overwhelm Triggers! Juggernaut Drive casts The Unstoppable Spear!

The Unstoppable Spear: 74,087 Base Damage, 222,261 Impossible Strength, +0 Dice, -0 Smite, +37,374 Overwhelm = 259,635 Total Damage.

If Sega's MM roll(s) is at least 52% of her maximum, then she wins the Intercept conflict non-lethally and breaks Juggernaut Drive's weapon.

cause this was supposed to go before the update.
we had 990 exp remaining before juggernaut drive and earned >300.
Uh...

+50xp Survived White Soul's initial ambush

50 EXP Gained = 1,000 EXP Total
That is from Whitening Drive, which was right before the current Update.

Which is good, but I still suspect that Alex will just run off if we manage to get her weapon broken.
She is faster than Ana and Sega...

This update just made me think of this.

The idea of Geheburn! Nepgear becoming her universes Alucard is very amusing to me.

Ok, in light of recent information, I'm going to put up some new plans.

[X] Plan Grab Her
-[X] Activate Core Purge, make sure that it's targeting Juggernaut Drive's Control Seal instead of her, and keep it active until she's down
-[X] Try to get Juggernaut Drive within Core Purge range, while avoiding that spear. If Sega's in danger though, try to take the hit for her
-[X] Yell to Sega that if she can, she should grab Juggernaut and hold her still

[X] [EXP] Plan Go Fast
-[X] Upgrade Flight to level 28 (780 XP)

Alright, the new plans increase our speed to 270 mph, which will hopefully push us to the next HSC level, and focus on getting rid of Juggernaut's Control Seal, holding her down in the process of we can. Since we can take a hit from the Perpetual Spear where Sega can't, we're to serve as the tank until the Control Seal is gone.

Any problems?

Alright to the first, as for the second...I'm going to add a line about asking Sega how her spell works. If she throws the spear, then ok. If she has to get close and stab, I'm putting using Intercept as a possible plan.
The worry is that JD does her regular attack, we Intercept it, and then her ability causes her to add a spell cast to her side of the Intercept.

That makes it her regular attack + her spell vs Purifier Beam.

Thankfully, because of Indestructible Core's damage reduction and save from death, in addition to No Longer Human's damage reduction, we're likely to survive even that. Plus, what with keeping Core Purge active, if she has to get close to us we can get rid of her seal. The only problems with this are the possibility that her spell is ranged, which I have accounted for by asking Sega how it works and adding a proviso to not Intercept Juggernaut's attacks, and if Juggernaut will be able to attack us after she loses her Seal. Thankfully, it's an aerial battle, so between that and the effects getting rid of the Seal has, that's not a very big problem.

[X] Plan Grab Her Version 2
[X] [EXP] Plan Go Fast

So, chances of JD using the necessary ability to trigger PFrame?
It's not. If the conditions for the Frame Activation are met at the start of a turn, it goes before everything. Including Dots, and Healing effects.

It also fucks the turn up something epic fierce.

No, but it'd do really interesting things to the PFrame's perceptions if it's awakening sucks up Juggernaut while she's still mind controlled.

Seeing the world through 3D Sepia Tones~

So, chances of JD using the necessary ability to trigger PFrame?

Pretty small, all things considered.
Core Purge moves at the speed of light, so Alex would have to know what it is beforehand to react on time.
However, while we do not know her full sheet, she does not know ours. She might have seen the Ability used before, but I doubt that she would know to activate her corresponding Ability to do something with it. (Case in point, we used it several times in close proximity to Sega, who did not say anything about it)

I imagine her first response to seeing Nepgear prepare Core Purge is to either use Master Skill to stop her, hit her in the face again to deal lots of damage and hopefully take her down, or dash away.
Note how Alex does not have Boosted Flight, so we can outmaneuver her even at lower max speed... unless she runs away in a straight line.

If she tries it with Master Skill, Sega could probably stop her for long enough to bring Core Purge through anyway. If she hits us and Nepgear manages to not get thrown hundreds of metres away, we have her as well.

The moment Alex is within our light, her Seal gets hit by lots and lots of damage. She will not have more than a few milliseconds to do anything before it burns out.

Which means that overall, Juggernaut Drive has two to three seconds at best to intuitively realise one of her rarely used Abilities works in tandem with Core Purge, decide to use it over either running away or going for tons of damage on the offender, taking the risk of activating an unknown effect, and actually activating it before her Seal burns out (I have the feeling that the corresponding Ability will take a moment to activate, just like Core Purge)

Considering she was making right angle turns on a dime, I'm not sure whether it's safe to state that as fact. [/regularpostervoice]

Well... unless the character sheet is faulty, it should be in there, right?
Which it is not.

And it would be really weird for us to get her Flight-level with the sheet, but not whether it is boosted when Nepgear can probably tell Boosted and non-Boosted apart.

Or you know she is using one of her other none seen-skills creatively to let her do the same thing effectively.

I couldn't tell you whether the sheet is faulty or not, but given her demonstrated maneuverability I wouldn't go making blanket statements about how we can totes outmaneuver her. To be quite honest she's displayed more aerial maneuverability in one update than we have the entire quest.

Were a flying tank, she's a flying murder machine.
I would hope she's got better maneuverability then us. :V

Fair enough, I guess.
On the other hand, how many purely aerial battles were we in so far? How many dogfights did we have?

Trying to think back... the second spar with Uni went into the air before Nepgear stomped her. Operation Starborn only had her bombard ground forces, no need for fancy air-maneuvering (and then Sixth Heaven pushed her out of the sky anyway).

I am trying to recall a time where Nepgear actually had to fight an opponent in the sky, but nothing comes up.
So... I guess it is not really fair to compare their aerial maneuverability as seen so far is what I mean.

Edit: It is a bad habit of mine to speak in absolutes when I do not mean them, anyway...

This time, I'm writing this as I read it instead of the second time through. Probably won't change much.
Ah, crap.

You hear Red Rose ask something, but it passes through one ear and out the other as you focus on your enemy.
Bad Nepgear.

your feet crack the stone beneath you and you accelerate from zero to two hundred miles per hour in a motion.
Okay, so. Let's assume that Solid Core's legs are three feet long—an overestimate, but probably about right including her feet. To go from zero to 200mph as she extends her legs, she needs to accelerate at 1/2*(200mph)^2/3ft=14,341 ft/s^2=445G for 2*3ft/200mph=.02 seconds. I'm not sure how big her feet are or how much of them is in contact with the ground, but it's not much—maybe a couple dozen square inches?—so Nepgear's putting over a thousand psi on that floor. Of course, there's the issue that this is a lateral force and there's nowhere near enough friction for it to work, so her legs should just shoot out from under her, but I'll chalk that up to magic.

Once upon a time you believed you knew what 'fast' was.
Yeah, sorry Nepgear, but you still aren't fast. I mean, come on, you're subsonic. You can't even outrun the sunrise (outside of the Arctic and Antarctic Circles).

You cross the sixty feet between the barrier and your target point in the blink of an eye.
More specifically, in 60ft/240mph=.17 seconds, which is about half of a blink.

Warning! Damage Threshold Reached, battlefield reconfiguring!
Figured.

White power floods from your blade as you bring it down atop the onrushing enemy
White?

The White River: 1,000 Base Damage, No Dice, +10,000 Cascading Wave = 11,000 Base Damage
Solid Core: 2,600, +67 Dice, -1,300 Unstoppable (False), -520 Armor Pierce (False) = 847 Damage Reduction

10,153 Total End Damage

Indestructible Core

Murder (False) Blocked by Indestructible Core!
Dazzle (False) Blocked by Indestructible Core!)
But no damage to the environment?

Insight simply rolls her eyes and mouths something you can't make out."More than you've got."
Yes Shirley, thank you Shirley.

"Maybe an opponent like me?"
"Almost." (She can't, so far as I'm aware, get past our save-from-death. She has enough damage to kill us, but we can fly and in the air she only gets one APT. But that's not actually enough for us to survive, given soft-mechanics stunning or impalement.)

You send all the magic you can spare to your wings
We have wings? *Checks* Huh. I'd somehow completely neglected to notice that.

Perpetual Spear: 707,534 Base Damage, 2,122,602 Impossible Strength
Presumably the next step after Godlike Strength, giving +200%. No, wait, we didn't intercept. Then what?

Pain. It swallows your mind whole as your brain catches up to the sudden damage, and you choke on the blood as it tries to erupt from your throat. Your body forces itself into an upright sitting position, as you void the blood attempting to drown you.
Yeah, that's the kind of thing I was talking about.

Huh. Why is your blood purple?
Presumably it's only in Magical Girl form:
Oh, if you put her under any kind of scrutiny, then it would be impossible to tell. She'd register to Human in literally every way that mattered.

Somehow, even at this distance, you can see the look of sheer surprise on everyone's faces as you hover over the damaged earth. Surprise that you are still alive. A tiny urge promptly takes over and your hand moves on its own, presenting a one-finger salute to White Soul who, also, somehow sees it.
Magical Girl combat basically runs on drama. If their eyes need to temporarily be three times as sharp as usual in order to see you flipping them off, it'll happen.

Gold plated fingers rap restlessly against a similarly armored bicep.
Yeah, with all the destruction going on I'd wondered when Rei would respond. The earlier Core Purges were business as usual for the cuddliest nightlight, Starshine somewhat less so, and this latest hit was hard to ignore.

I should kill them. Before they become a threat to me.

If I kill them, they'll stay with me forever. I won't lose any of them ever again.

Anastasia is in danger. I should have killed her before someone had the audacity to do this.
Fuck off, Gehaburn. You don't go murdering your friends to keep them safe. Not without first doing extensive testing on people you don't care about, anyway.

Stone, rock, and bone disintegrate and leave a near perfect path from where she stands to the final two combatants on the current field. Red Rose visibly pales at her sudden entrance, while White Soul swallows.
Insight presumably fled—why was she out there anyway? I thought she was smarter than that—and Juggernaut Drive is probably after the Solid girls.

"I remember you." Goddess Gold places a hand on her hip, as she tilts her head to the side almost curiously. "You fled from me. Before you died." Almost unconsciously the resurrected girl takes a step back. "I didn't really put much effort into ending you, since I didn't think it'd work... but now that I know that you're not immortal... well."
Less talking, more killing.

Nepgear: Engaged Juggernaut Drive (Current Health: 39,890)
Three turns since we got hit, three attacks dodged.

This one wasn't real-time:
She slips between the individual bolts where she can, and for those she can't she simply fades through them like a ghost.
Walk between the raindrops…

Otherwise... we could try to grapple her when she makes another pass through?
Because a soap bubble hitting a rock with a high velocity differential totally won't pop.

I've got a thought about diving towards Goddess Gold and hoping Juggernaut follows and we all get Chained up. This could go badly if Jugs breaks the chains and I have a feeling that she's capable. (assume 50% damage from having her spear tied up and she still does a million Damage.)
Breaking the chains once they've got you is impossible.

UberJJK said:
I can't remember if Unstoppable effects No Longer Human
It doesn't.
Seeing as the Perpetual Spear had none of these:

attached it probably should have done zero damage.
Apocalypse is a derivative of Detonate. And except for the first one, Juggernaut was flying.
There were multiple attacks by Juggernaut Drive against both Nepgear and Sega but not once did Nepgear automatically Intercept those attacks like she should under Supremacy Zone:
That requires LoS. Also, she has Flight higher than our HSC. In fact, it's not on her sheet (@Crystalwatcher?) but the update clearly shows that she has Boosted Flight higher than our HSC:
taking a fully right-angled turn to the side as your power obliterates what pieces of chain had been coming down from Sega's attack.
[…]
Alex flickers through the air, making hard turns as she bounces off the platforms that form beneath her, and rushes you.
(Looks like this got brought up right before I posted… I'll leave it in anyway.)

We have WoG that Juggernaut Drive can not upgrade beyond Steel, just like Judgement Drive/Core can not go beyond Mythril.
Adamantium and Indestructible are Solid-only as well.
Nope. Juggernaut maxes at Mythril and Judgement at Adamantium.

I wouldn't be surprised if Juggernaut Drive had an always-hit ability, so just flying out of the way isn't going to help much.
We successfully dodged twice in this update.

False Abilities are weird as all fuck. They're substantially weaker than their True counterparts
Armor Pierce isn't.

Belated Level Boost that was supposed to have happened before the update.
Better change the damage numbers in the update, then.

This point occurs after 4 turns of Anarite Generators, which brings Sega's Health to 74,087, and while Sega has one stack of Limit Break active. This results in the following math.
I would guess that the auto-casted The Unstoppable Spear is on top of the normal attack that she's intercepting with, not instead of it.

Alright, the new plans increase our speed to 270 mph, which will hopefully push us to the next HSC level
Evidence for is here.

So. White Soul is… probably going to die. Possibly already dead. She's still dangerous if we get in her way, but probably too busy running away to do much.

Our anti-Control Seal options are Core Purge (destroys it immediately, Progenitor Frame makes me very wary of it), Rei's Overwhelming Presence (takes five turns if affected by Base Resilience, four if not), Gabriel's Presence of Light (takes ten turns), and direct damage targeted at the appropriate part of her body (need to find it or else hit her whole body, damage bleed-through is likely to kill her). Given the level of collateral damage that Juggernaut Drive does, I don't think we want to try luring her close to Gabriel, especially since Gabriel is near other people who are even squishier. Bringing her close to Goddess Gold runs the risk of her getting caught by a stray attack/AoE from that battle (though that really should be over quite quickly), though this can be mitigated by staying in the air where White Soul isn't, or by waiting until she's dealt with.

The other option is to take her down non-lethally without popping the Control Seal. We have a few options for that. @Naron and @ReaperofInterest have suggested grappling her, but not only is the velocity differential large enough to potentially splatter her (you can't expect an optimal interception, especially since Sega's Flight isn't Boosted) (don't ask me how she survives bouncing off of magical platforms at 300mph), but unless her arms are pinned she can still smack her grappler with her spear, and even if they are pinned we don't know the grapple rules—we've only seen them in action once. If Insight is alive and we find her, she could potentially use her stun, but that would require Juggernaut being close to her long enough for her to do it, which could be difficult to arrange. We can get Goddess Gold to do the job for us, getting Juggernaut within range of Chains of the Earth at some time when Rei can spare the attention. The potential problems here are that she might cut the chains before they can grab her (not after, that's impossible) (mitigated by Rei's skill) and that it might take too long. We can also try to get Sam to use Enforce, but that requires him to be able to hit her and her to get close to the squishies.

We can also stall her until Red Rose and Goddess Gold are available. Sega isn't tanky enough unless Alex holds back, but Solid Core, Brilliant Key, Red Rose (if she disengages from White Soul) and James are all capable of playing tank (Goddess Gold, oddly enough, isn't, at least not while focusing elsewhere—as far as I can tell, her only defense against big damage numbers is to intercept with Oblivion Awaits). We've also already been doing a decent job of evasion-tanking, and staying near where the Chains are coming from helps with that—concealment hinders the attacker more than the evader. We can also go places that are too dangerous for her, if there are any of those around other than in the path of Oblivion Awaits (which would kill us at full power, though it won't be at full power because Rei is not wantonly destructive). Like, if we can get the barricade forces to just shoot in the air around us, a stray shot could damage her if she gets a low modifier roll.

Or we can just kill her. Landing a hit is difficult because of her speed, but Starshine could probably do it, though The Unstoppable Spear has Overwhelm so it could be intercepted (and our Health is high enough that she'd win). Celestial Severance would win an Intercept conflict, but it's harder to aim. It might be easier to just shoot the ground while she's near it and get her hit by flying debris.

Typos later.
