Well sure. But given that Misato's feelings about this stuff are firmly emotional and irrational I am not sure she would be able to tell or care about the difference.
Well, she might simply not know the difference. However, her problems with Angels do in fact stem from Adam. IMO, she hate angels not so much because they're angels, but because they are Adam's spawn, and Adam killed her father and caused her to be catatonic for two years. So if it could be explained to her that Rei has nothing at all to do with Adam, this might suffice for Misato...

Ritsuko: "So you see, Rei is the primogenitor from the other moon so her relation to Adam and the angels is almost nil."
Misato wipes her forehead: "Well that's a relief..."
Ritsuko continues: "In fact as primogenitor, it can be said that she is like the mother to all of humanity."
Misato shakes her head: "What is it with this place and parental trauma?"

And she was made by the same people who made the Angels so, as far as i know, they are the same...tool? That's what they were right? Tools to make life?
Of course the problem is, the same can be said about us humans. If adamim (angels) are a "tool" of the FAR, so are lilim (humans)
(and sorry, we posted at the same time; had to wait for someone else to post in order to answer, to avoid double-posting :p )

That's like saying "what's with all the swimsuits" at a beach in the middle of summer.

That reminds me of something:

I can't see the image.
Asuka makes fun of Shinji for dating Kaworu, saying that doing so just proves his mother complex. (Since Kaworu is Adam and as such the "Mother" of the angels.) Shinji counters that Asuka is dating Rei who is like a mother to all humanity. The last panel suggests that their comments were both a bit true as Asuka does some scrapbooking and Shinji asks Kaworu to cut off the corners of his sandwichs.

You know I'm not the best at criticism, so I'll just say I think you're doing a great job. I'm looking forward to more.

Okay so I have the next chapter planned out but before I start writing. I kinda want to ask. Its pretty early in the story but would anyone be interested in anything Halloween related? I am just asking because if I am to do anything I should start now.

Thanks guys. Working on something now. Will be a memory from Shinji's childhood back in Germany with Asuka and Rebecca. A Halloween party at Langley' s place.

So the Halloween thing may not be ready by tomorrow but I hope to get it done ASAP. I am really sorry but I am dealing with some stuff that is keeping me from writing. I hope these pictures will hold you guys off for now.

Hope you guys like! Happy Halloween!

Don't worry. We all understand that life can be rough. Take all the time you need.

Halloween special.
By my count, I am still before midnight so I am still technically on time. I hope people enjoy.
Beauty and the Beast Haloween Special

Ocober 31 2013:

"Happy Halloween!" Mari beamed as Langley opened the door for her and Shinji. "We would have come sooner but I had to stretch into this thing." Mari laughed as she showed off her witch costume. "The old department boys call me a witch all the time anyway. I thought I should look the part."

"Happy Halloween, Mister Langley." Shinji smiled thankfully "And thank you for inviting us."

Langley simply waved them in, noticing that Shinji seemed to be just as embarrassed by his guardian as he was. "It's no issue; I love a good party. Katsuragi is in the parlor with some people from my department, while Mister Kaji is late as always. Would you mind handling the good captain? She seems to have taken ownership of the pumpkin beer I bought for everyone." Turning to the boy, Langley smiled. "Sorry, you guys can't go trick-or-treating, but I guess they don't do that here. Rebecca is in the basement. I'm not sure where Asuka has put herself."

Mari followed Langley into the parlor, the sounds of idle chatter increasing as she went. Looking out of the corner of her eye, she waited until she saw Shinji descend the stairs and then turned to Langley. "I am just glad this year we don't have any actual monsters prowling around."

Langley raised an eyebrow. "You mean Stern? Yeah, I have to admit I'm not sad to see him gone. Still... the thought of him running his own branch..."

"For someone with the personality of an eel that man has been quite the social climber. I can't imagine the promises he made to get that place." Mari was quiet, trying not to let concern tinge her voice.

Langley coughed and turned away, his face red. "Well, in any case, let's not let his shadow ruin tonight. Did you invite that girl from section F I told you about?"
"I did but..." Mari's face held a shadow of doubt. "That kind of stuff is always a shot in the dark. And with our schedules, we don't have many shots."

Langley sighed. "Tell me about it." Passing by a photo on the wall, Langley stopped. On it was a picture of him, Asuka, Rebecca and Rebecca's mother. Sloping his shoulders, he kept walking.

"If it means anything... I'm sorry about Hannah. Some things... just don't work out."

Crossing the threshold into the parlor, Mari and Langley gave each other a serious look and set about their tasks. Langley returned to chatting with a group of officers he had invited while Mari went to moderate the good Captain who was currently sucking down a large bottle of orange liquid. "Misato, just because it's October doesn't mean you should drink like it's Oktoberfest."

Misato laughed. "I just like to party a bit, nothing wrong with that."
Mari rolled her eyes. "What you like is an excuse..." Sighing, she tried to change the subject as she took the rest of the bottles from Misato's grip. "I see you're not dressed up."

Misato snorted and thankfully relinquished the alcohol. "After the incident last year I decided it was better to play it safe. So I don't have to worry about prudish co-workers and forced seminars by HR."

Mari sighed in frustration. "That Sailor Moon get-up you wore was two sizes too small for you, as evidenced by what happened at the end when it got caught on that decoration."

"I see you are, though. Is your date coming to match or...?" Misato chuckled.

Mari rolled her eyes. "I don't know why I even asked her. We barely talked I just.." Realizing she was at a party Mari tried to force herself to be happy and changed the subject to the tiny ones downstairs. "How are the kids?"

Misato shrugged. "Asuka did her usual parade and dance but left not long after that. Rebecca... I think Rebecca has mostly been waiting for Shinji to show up. You know how she is with new people."

Mari nodded. "What did Langley get the kids tonight?" That man was like the tide with the girls: Rushing in with gifts and kind words one minute and then retreating when things got too difficult, handing over nearly everything to Misato, Mari or Kaji.

Misato waved a hand. "Eh, he made a big show of giving them a bunch of candy in front of the guests, but I think that was mostly for face. He has been pretty withdrawn lately."

Sighing, Mari opened one of the bottles she had confiscated from Misato and took a swig, scrunching her face at the taste. "They deserve better than us."

Shinji found Rebbeca sitting on a couch in the basement, watching some movie about teen werewolves on the television while munching on an ever decreasing bag of chocolate absentmindedly. Every once in a while she looked up and around her with a nervous tick. Seeing Shinji, she smiled and got up, rushing to give him a hug. "Shinji! Happy Halloween!"

Shinji laughed and hugged her back. "What has you so worked up?" he asked, already guessing the answer.

"It's Asuka," Rebecca explained. "She has been at me all week scaring me. First, it was spiders in my oatmeal and rubber snakes in my dresser but now she just seems to wait to jump out at me. I don't know what to do." She was almost shaking she was such a bundle of nerves.

"Asuka can be... Asuka. Let's just watch the movie, I promise I won't let anything happen." Shinji smiled weakly; he was never good at comfort.

Nodding, Rebecca led Shinji to the couch and turned the movie back on. "There is some candy corn if you want some."

Upstairs, Mari sighed as she saw Langley return from the door, bringing in their late guest. Sporting a tuxedo and playing with a toy pistol, the man swaggered into the parlor. "The name is Kaji," the inspector said, bad Scottish accent increasing with each word. "Ryoji Kaji."

Misato rolled her eyes. "Nice costume. Too bad you're the only one dressed up."

Kaji pointed to Mari with his toy. "She is unless you're saying she looks like a witch normally. And why aren't you going as something? Last year was so fun."

Misato huffed. "I bet. I just decided I didn't need a costume, I am a captain of NERV and a kickass lady at that, what more do I need?"

Kaji rubbed the back of his head with his replica weapon. "I don't know, I was hoping for maybe a hot devil or a vampire?"

Misato stomped off. "You're such a pig, Kaji! You really are a good Bond."

Shrugging, Kaji took a seat next to Mari, who was trying her best to enjoy the awful pumpkin beer she had taken from the captain. "You alright?"

Mari wiggled her bottle in the air. "Eh, could be better. It seems I'm not good at this whole partying thing... your gun is wrong by the way." Kaji raised an eyebrow. "That looks like a Baretta but Bond's gun is a Walther PPK."

Kaji grinned. "In the movies, sure, but in the first few books he carried a Baretta, and I always liked the first few best. More grounded. If I'm honest, the movies can get a bit silly at times."

Mari laughed. "I guess I can see that. We certainly get enough strangeness in our lives these days." Mari dejectedly took another swing of the orange liquid.

Kaji looked Mari over. "What's wrong? And I mean really wrong."

Mari sighed. "It finally came through. The higher-ups stopped arguing for five minutes and approved my project. In a few weeks' time, I will be in Nevada, leading my team in creating the first successful S2 engines."

Kaji nodded. "I thought this was your dream? Getting your own command and your own facility, your own Eva to build."

"It was, well it is. And I'm still going to do it. I'm just not sure how to tell Shinji about it. His whole life is here. I wish I didn't have to rip him from the only friends he has ever known."

Kaji went solemn for a moment. "You know, we could take care of him. That way he can stay with Asuka and Rebecca. He's a good influence on them and I'm sure Langley wouldn't object."

Mari shook her head. "I was given him for a reason. I can't just hand him off when things get difficult; I'm not Langley. No, I need to tell him, and soon. I just didn't want to ruin today for him. I know how he worries."

Downstairs, Shinji continued to watch the movie with Rebecca, trying not say anything as she shivered next to him, clutching his arm. "It's only a movie and an old one at that. Nothing to be scared of..." His assurances were cut off when he heard a sound coming from outside.

"Shinji... Help!"

"Asuka!" Shinji got up immediately and rushed outside to the source of the sound. Turning the corner of the house, he slapped his forehead: On the ground before him was a tape recorder.

"Godammit." Turning around to go back into the house, he was faced with what in the dark looked like a gorilla wielding a meat cleaver, its burning red eyes glowing in the dark as it howled at Shinji. "Oh... Hey Asuka."

"Aww man," The gorilla took off its mask to reveal itself as Shinji's friend. "How come you didn't react? This would have made Rebecca faint!"

Shinji laughed and scratched his head. "Well to be honest... You're already pretty scary, Asuka. The mask and the knife just push it into funny territory."

Asuka narrowed her eyes. "Come here, Ikari! I'll show you 'funny'!"

Mari looked at her watch and then at the door one final time. Sighing, she glanced over at Langley, who was enjoying a generous glass of scotch. "I think it's safe to call it, she isn't coming."

Langley nodded. "You can't win them all. I just hope the kids had a good time. It's why I set this whole thing up after all."

Turning to the window to avoid rolling her eyes at her friend, Mari caught a glimpse of the three in the backyard. Asuka was chasing Shinji who was laughing and following Rebecca. Mari smiled "I hope they are. They will never be this young again."

Somehow I'm not surprised...
"I did but..." Mari's face held a shadow of doubt. "That kind of stuff is always a shot in the dark. And with our schedules, we don't have many shots."
Still stuck on someone else, hmm? Poor Mari...
Mari sighed in frustration. "That Sailor Moon get-up you wore was two sizes too small for you, as evidenced by what happened at the end when it got caught on that decoration."
Hey, everyone else at the party liked it! :p

Pretty meta for Misato to go as Sailor Moon.

Cuz', you know, the whole "Having the same Seiyuu."

Still hilarious that happen (the year before), though the Halloween special is more somber. Oh well, can't be an Eva fic without some somber or angst moment. :V

Langley raised an eyebrow. "You mean Stern? Yeah, I have to admit I'm not sad to see him gone. Still... the thought of him running his own branch..."

Meanwhile at NERV Boston:

"Put the underground entrance to the branch in a Dunkin Donuts they said, hiding in plain sight they said. But did they tell me which one of these places on every single block of this city contains the entrance? No!"

Two things: 1) That was nice.
2)Can you use some thing other then that white lettering? I have to use a darker Velocity Screen Style and it always hurts my eyes?

Yeah... sometimes it is just impossible to move on from someone no matter how much you try.

True, I just hope that it comes off well. Developing these characters is really fun.

Would a more grey color suit better? I don't want to hurt your eyes.

Also this Special would not have been possible if not for the last minute editing job by @Susano so everyone give a round of applause for him. Next chapter is Shinji's first day at school.
