...Is that an actual Marvel Comic, a fan comic, or art for a fanfiction? Either way, this looks awesome.
Real comic. Peni appears in the comic event Spiderverse where different versions of Spider-man from across the multiverse teamed up to fight ancient multi-dimensional space vampires. Comics everyone! The universe Peni comes from is very anime inspired with references to Eva Akira Ghost in the Shell and I am sure many others are hidden away in the backgrounds of panels. Peni pilots an Eva inspired Spiderman looking mech called SP//DR.

Edit: As a side note, I really like the uniforms they are wearing.

This is the comic that was penned by Gerard Way if I remember correctly? I've been wanting to pick that one up for quite some time. Just never gotten around to it.

According to the Marvel database you are correct. I like her character design and her personality, I would put her in the story as a cameo but I think that self indulgent stuff like that really only hurts you in the long run.

1) Only if you let it take over the plot. 2) Dude it's only a cameo. 3)If it's interesting enough no one will complain. 3)It's your fic you can cry of you want to. Heck, you could make a male character king of the would and let them have a harem of girls big enough to fit the school just so you could live vicariously through him if you wanted. As long as you follow #three your good.

Reading the DIRTT thread made me think...
BnB Shinji grew up in Germany and then moved to America a few years prior to the start of the story. I imagine he would have a bit of accent. But besides pronunciation I think living with Mari (and to a lesser extent Asuka) would affect his address. I don't think he would mean to but he would largely speak to people very informally. Which might be an issue in a place as strict as Japan.

Or it would be if it was anyone else but Shinji. He could speak in nothing but the most vulgar slang yet his personality would make it very hard for anyone to be offended. And i'm being literal with that. I honestly think that he could speak in vulgar slang and no one would take it seriously cause the guy's a kitten.

Shinji: GODDAMN COCKBREATH COMMIE MOTHERFUCKERS!

Mari: Aw that's cute, you're learning new words! Oh, could you please pass me the salt?

Well its a good thing nobody in Shinji's family is super fundamentalist about Japanese culture, that would be problematic.

Well, it's not like there aren't quite many scenes of him shouting - though that's usually in the EVA. Just imagine Shinji shouting during Third Impact - but shouting that!

Spike Spencer's in character rant in which he misses the point of the ending comes to mind. Except a maybe a little more expletive-laden.

Okay, fine and angry fear filled Shinji swearing isn't funny. But kitten him is, which is the point. No one is going to care he doesn't follow Japanese customs.

Interlude 4
Here is the aforementioned Misato interlude. Like Gendo I am really enjoying a fitting her in a way that is different from the norm. I hope other people will enjoy it as well.

Misato stumbled into her apartment just after two in the morning, her body still shaking, wincing as she turned on the light. She had not drank like this since... since before the Commander found her. The last few days had been rough. Misato had been in battles before, her life had hung in the balance before. But this time it felt different. Before, do or die, Misato could at least do something about it. Standing on the bridge of the Geofront paralyzed while the crew around her yelled stats and figures. Helpless to do nothing but watch while Shinji fought for her... It was something else.

Shinji... what have we done to you? Try as she might, Misato could not see him as the shy little boy she knew. Memories of watching him play with Asuka and Rebecca were paved over by a giant made of light . The Captain collapsed in her chair dejectedly. She was under no illusions that there were aspects of her job that were... suspect. Her time molding Asuka into a warrior had proven that. But what Mari had done to that boy was... different. She hadcorrupted him, poisoned him and turned him into something to fight for them. And the worst part was that it was going to keep happening. Despite her protests, it had been decided Shinji was going to stay and fight, and that Mari was going to keep her position as head of Technical. That meant that Misato was going to have to work with her, day in and day out until this war was over. It was almost too much to bear.

Misato looked around the apartment. She had not been here long but there was already growingevidence of her worst impulses. On the table lay a towering stack of takeout boxes and on the counter an army of empty beer cans. If only my old platoon sergeant could see me now. More than anything else, Misato needed someone to talk to, preferably not someone covered in feathers. Giving up any resolve not to, Misato pulled her phone from her jacket and opened her contacts.

Not an overwhelming list. Like many in NERV Misato had resigned herself to having the social life to rival that of a lighthouse keeper, but even she had friends... even if they all came from years ago. Pressing the contact on it before she changed her mind, she heard the device ring softly several times before someone picked up. "Uh, hi Kaji..."

"Yeah I know it's been a while I just... I'm sorry am I catching you at a bad time? I can't remember if it's late or early for you... Yeah, I have been drinking... Look, I just wanted someone to talk to and... Look, things here are just a bit of a mess right now. For me at least, anyway... no, I can't tell you more than that right now, you know I... Look, I am sorry, but you know how it is... I just need someone to vent at Iguess... Yeah, Shinji is fine I guess... It's...Yeah, it's about my dad... Kaji I know I wasn't the only person who lost someone that day, I just... Look, if... if you ever met like, the kids of the guys who killed your brother, what would you do?... Yeah I know it's afucked up thing to ask. That's why I asked it. I just needed to say it out loud. I..." Misato stopped as she heard a bouncy song come over their line, telling Kaji he had an incoming call. "Kaji... I mean... fine, I understand. Sorry I bothered you." After hearing the click Misato sighed and put the phone away, acutely feeling how alone she was.

How strangely self-aware of Misato.

That meant that Misato was going to have to work with her, day in and day out until this war was over. It was almost too much to bear.
So, how much is she really outraged at what has been done to Shinji - and how much is she ultimately only pitying herself? Is this really about what has been done to Shinji, or that she now has to work with that angel-Shinji? I like the ambiguity here. It is exactly that ambiguity which makes up Misato's character in canon as well.

After hearing the click Misato sighed and put the phone away, acutely feeling how alone she was.
It shows how alienated Misato is from everyone. It's, ironically, something I can relate to well, heh. I mean, after all, a person who keeps on going about this one important thing, and it seems nobody will listen, everyone dismissed it, and that person has no where to turn to... In Misato's case, it is just that very important to her that Shinji is now part Adamite, and that they have to keep him away from EVAs, and from her, but it must seem to her everyone is ignoring her concerns. That is kinda relatable for me, as I'm sure you can see ;)

Okay. I was expecting to see Misato's...issues with Angels(or whatever you want to call it) being applied to Shinji, I just never thought it be like this. She think it's the worst thing that can be done to him, not the fact he's a 14 year old risking his life to save the world and be put into horrible pain to do it. I mean yeah altering his flesh like that is pretty bad, but seeing as how it can save his life i kind of can't complain.
Bravo Alex, Bravo. You gave me what i was expecting in a way i didn't expect.

Hey, Pen Pen is a perfectly good conversationalist! It's not his fault he's so well-read he keeps going off on topics Misato can't follow! :p

Poor Misato. Finally works up the nerve to call Kaji and wants to talk about a serious, emotional topic, and he's pulled away by another call. Misato needs hugs. :(

Misato's badly traumatic encounter with Adam is going to make it hard for her to look at Shinji, even with happier memories of Shinji as an innocent child she once knew to counter. Those happy memories are facing off with the shock that left her catatonic for 2 years, and has put a shadow over her life ever since. On the other hand, I think Shinji's demonstrated will to fight the Angels, even in the face of distrust, will wear down Misato's distrust faster for her than others. The fight with the Angels means more than almost anything to her, so Shinji proving that he's as dedicated to that as she is will hit her in a way it won't anyone else.

This is also going to make her reaction to Kaworu different, if she learns what he is before he goes full-Angel and makes a run at Terminal Dogma.

A few months later

"The Angels killed my father! Oh if I ever could get my hands on them I'd..."

"Good morning Major Katsuragi."

"Oh, good morning Kaworu."
Actually it's more like:
A few months later

"The Angels killed my father! Oh if I ever could get my hands on them I'd..."

"Good morning Major Katsuragi."

"Oh, good morning Kaworu. Now where was i? Oh yeah. If i ever get my hands..."

"Can you give me a hand Major and help me keep my balance on this stool?"

"Sure Rei."(walks over and holds on to her).
