@Goldfish
I'm not sure if we have abstracted scrolls and Lyas spell-learning away or not, but we should definitly buy a scroll of Frostfell from the Djinn-Cryomancers to let her learn it.

Just for the symmetry to Viserys' SotD.
Besides its a great spell for mass-destruction, which is not usually her MO, but better be prepared and not need it...

@Crake, if you are that annoyed by it, propose trial by combat. Against Nuri if you take pity on them. Against the Harbinger if you don't.
Why should Lya not do it herself?

She's by no means a fighter, but she's got the pure levels to make it work anyway.
Some buffs, Tenser's Transformation to get +17 BAB and a physical boost, and she can beat up every knight of the realm save Richard and maybe some Sandor or Liomond on a lucky day.

Teleportation requires magic powerful enough to turn a demon into a rabbit, and in itself involves traveling a thousand miles from one point to another in an instant.

Even if Lya was a Fifth Circle mage only, rather than an Archmage who all other mages that those gossips know look at with awe and refer to as "the Sage", no, "the Sage".

She has various feats under her belt that wouldn't be hidden because of the number of people involved in them. She made the Harbinger, and higher grade constructs are rare specifically because it takes time out of a powerful mage's schedule to even make them, and they're worth a lot of money and cost a lot. She made the Arcanums, and two thirds of them are known for being very smart themselves, with all of them being 4th Circle mages.

Any noble lady who thinks she could be a better wife based on their own merit is delusional. She's a hero. She's fought in massive battles alongside other Companions. Most martial, scholarly and governmental officials are aware of this. Inference from other influential people should make those you're stating are dismissive realize that no matter how petty they are, the political reality is that she has more social leverage, prestige and temporal power than them without also leveraging any of Viserys' resources or accomplishments or political power.

Well yes, but that is all hearsay, what she actually did in their sight was no more than teleport, which does not really look that scary to the uninformed (or the underinformed).

Meh, that is barely better than Muggle fighting.

When you throw down with an Archmage, the best you can hope for is a Crushing Hand or Enemy Hammer spell to beat you down, and that's if they don't just decide to Turtle, Maze, Baleful Teleport, or Disintegrate you.

Nah, anyone who's dumb enough to discount Lya is beneath any attention. It'd be more fitting for someone like Glyra to point out, "There's a reason Lya is called the Sage. Viserys managed to charm her, not the other way around." Cue humiliation and court gossip turning to the poor idiot who didn't know who Lya was.

Yes, Lya could blink you out of existance.
But sometimes it is more satisfying to hit things with a weapon.

Or just turn them into a thousand tiny grains of sand. Or a pillar of salt. Or a glass statue. Or petrify them into stone.

Or turn them into glass statue, then shrink the statue down into the palm of her hand, and then transform the subsequent tiny statuette into a little marble with their likeness inside the facets, and hand the product off to Glyra for a collection of all the other idiots she made an example of who just could not mind their tongue.

The only reason I don't suggest the classic "turn them into a toad" is that would just be confirming extant biases, rather than terrify them so magnificently that they never even think anything vaguely uncharitable about her ever again.

@DragonParadox @Azel @Artemis1992 Modern problems require modern solutions though, so the real way to solve this whole issue is to actually just have Lya take them on a trip to some exotic locale and make it so even basic needs of survival, like breathing, eating and not having your eyeballs melt out of your head is reliant on Lya providing them with the correct spells during the entire trip. And Lya making innocuous small talk with them the entire time about the logistical challenges for ordinary people to see such exotic sights.

She is really quite lovely, even if she did compare me to a woman famed for getting stabbed through the heart."

...the legends were tilted and misinterpreted over the generations. We are the one who got stabbed in the heart. After we made a sword of fire, which we gave to Richard!

And people are still claiming we're not Azor Ahai? Ha!

I was hoping to have a angel and a devil in our service, but this guy might be a better pick. Plus we can convince Argalys to help him out with organizing the ministry.

Have a picture of him working with the Archon side by side too and you have perfect PR.

We already got 2 Archons in the Curia. One being our new Air Marshal.

We could always have a bit where she visits the troops and gives an interview. While standing ankle deep in a flow of lava, as they are too close to the bad parts of the PoF for the ground to be fully solid.

@Goldfish Lya needs a bitchin' Crown...
Someone suggested several floating Ion Stones at some point.

I like the image.
A wreath of Ioun Stones orbiting Lya's head would be cool. I think it was Snowfire's idea a while back. It was extremely high end Artifact level stuff, IIRC, but maybe too strong and difficult to actually craft.

Ioun Stones would be good, because she's already wearing this. It's not a fluffy piece of gear, but it is extremely good and has had 13,600 IM (or 136,000 gp) invested into it. This circlet is probably her single most important piece of gear and one she's had the longest. I wouldn't want to replace it for that reason much more than the expense of doing so.
Circlet of Clarity: +6 Intelligence, +6 Wisdom, +4 Charisma, +10 Competence bonus to Knowledge(Arcana)
  1. +2 Competence bonus to Concentration checks
  2. 1/Day as an Immediate Action, the wearer may substitute a Concentration check in place of a Fortitude saving throw.
  3. 3 Charges/Day: 1 Charge (Cast a single spell of 2nd level or less as a Swift Action), 2 Charges (3rd level spell), 3 Charges (4th level spell)
  4. 3 Charges/Day: When used, rather than expending a spell as you cast it, you instead retain it: 1 Charge (1st level spell), 2 Charges (2nd level spell), 3 Charges (3rd level spell).
There are all sorts of neat Ioun Stones we could use without trying to make up new Artifact-level ones.

10 Emerald Ellipsoid would give her 50 additional Temp HP per day.

A Gamboge Nodule would render her Immune to Poison.

A Orange Prism would increase her caster level by +1.

A Pale Orange Rhomboid is another way to avoid death.

Etc.

If we're going to make an item or item set specifically to assist with Lya's presence in court, why not make it something social focused? Something with crown of glory, divine presence, and a few of the other usual buffs would work wonders.

I'd be interested a bunch of Vibrant Purple Prisms to store some utility spells and a few Silver Spindles for the same reason.
And a few Lavender and Green Ellipsoids.

Edit: Speaking of equipment for Lya, a Metamagic Rod of Toppling would be neat. For Viserys too. It's not an A-List offensive modifier, but whenever the situation arises that a Force effect is the most reliable way to damage something, it adds a rather nasty suck effect to the attack.

Lya can easily buff herself to the gills for any time she actually needs to wants to interact with the Court. That's going to be infrequent enough that I don't see the need to invest gear in it.

Yeah, Silver Spindles are great. Expensive and limited, but the effect is really good since the caster level is determined by the user's character level.

We can add some Metamagic Rods of Toppling Spell to our next commission order. To paraphrase @Duesal, Gotta collect'em all!
