Spy on Lucan?

Though it may be best to just... drop that stuff.
Read MAs more attentively, I asked thread at least thrice about either adding or removing this shit, and always linked it:
[X] Have the Inquisition throughout Westeros scour for information on Lucan, his motivation and character (Viserys needs IC knowledge)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
@egoo, can you have a reminder somewhere that we still need to get Marwyn's lore? It honestly doesn't need to be onscreen, but we never did get it.
Done:
[X] Fully background: have all of Marwyn's (and his party's) lore transcribed and added to our pile.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other news, the wall-o-text looks awkward to me.
Shall I spoiler each section (Strategic; RAs; MAs) separately, @everyone?

Dragon at the Midnight Hour

Twenty Ninth Day of the Second Month 294 AC

You have no doubt young Edric Dayne will enjoy the company of the shadowcat. After all, young children and felines share a sense that the world exists to entertain them. The flesh forged hunter and the black knight you intend to send along to the Water Gardens would probably be less amenable company.

The image of Kyla having a very earnest conversation with a mold spirit, the withered head under the steel helm leaned attentively towards the girl, comes to mind. Varys has been getting better at speaking with more than words. "Maybe not that unlikely."

You add dragon-kin to your mental list of the connoisseurs of entertaining chaos. "Hopefully young Edric does not make such unusual friends. I suspect Lord Andrew Dayne would be less understanding than Sorin Fairwind."

Speaking of perilous magic, you send a note off to the Scholarum instructing that they politely refuse the requests from Yi Tish scholars into the magics of blood and death. There are some concessions you would trade that lore for, the ability to transmute wealth almost directly into tireless unwavering soldiers, but they are not anything a delegation of scholars could authorize.

As you hand the note off to Hestior's unseen grasp, you notice it has already grown well dark outside, past midnight. Somehow, even with a clock on your desk, night still has a habit of sneaking up on you. Never enough hours in the day, you think, not bothering to stifle a yawn. It's getting close to the time when you have to sleep, but not quite there. An hour or so to spare and you know just how to spend it. There are, after all, things to do in bed besides sleeping.

Lya heartily agrees with the sentiment.

First Day of the Third Month 294 AC

Time waits for no one, for all one might learn the trick of making it stumble for a few moments. You face a month filled with challenges, from paving the final path to as smooth a reconquest as you can manage to keeping an ear out on the perilous powers of the world, and certainly not least ensuring the lands already under your rule continue to prosper. Hopefully, this month will see the fall of two queens of faerie, one at the hands of the Lord of Light and another at yours, the deepening of your contacts in Slaver's Bay, Maelor's return from the City of Brass... and setting up the fall of Tywin Lannister as well.

The fact that the Butcher of Casterly Rock has become a genuine afterthought on a practical scale, for all you despise him for his crimes against your kin and all of King's Landing, relevant mostly for the keep he inhabits and the doings of his brother and goodsister, makes the thought all the sweeter. That is what you will see befall Tywin Lannister in the end, not seen as a monster, nor even a villain, but simply forgotten.

"You have that smile again," Lya notes, absently raising her gaze from her book, one of the devil tomes from the way the writing on the cover writhes and twists.

"What smile?" You ask with a smile, wondering if she is about to compare you to a dragon. Your thoughts have been of a sort Amrelath would approve of.

"The one that makes me wonder if you are about to start composing verses about some poor bastard."

You make no attempt to stop your laughter, you probably couldn't do it if you tried.

What do you wish to do in the month ahead?

[] Write in plan

OOC: Given that there is already a pretty solid plan proposal to build on I did not want to spend a lot of time just writing out options in vote form. That said, do not hesitate to bring up potential actions and generally discuss the plan. The voting period for this will be at least 24 hours while I handle level up interludes and other background and character developments.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Very nice transition into the new month, dude. I'm very interested in that conversation between Kyla and the Mold. Has she invented the paper clip yet?

@egoo, I don't think we should have Mereth inside the Snare Chamber during the Summoning, and 8 other Erinyes seems excessive, too. There are already going to be so many of our forces in there that they will be of limited utility. It would probably be better to assign them elsewhere, or move them to assisting with external security. Mereth would make a good commander for the security force.

You haven't learned the wondrousness of the glorious Invisitext yet?

ngl, this one's to @Azel.

I don't see much else to send the Erynies off this month to, however.

They can't help with Slavers' Bay (for obvious reasons), and the few locations we do send people to raid adventure at this month (Sarnori Undead, Braavos swamps), already have people aplenty for the progress noted?

...Aaaand Sarnor should have equal numbers of Lenjths and Erynies to keep them one-up'ing each-other fairly.

Just having them available for other operations or surprises isn't a bad thing, either. They have a good suite of abilities that allow them to do a lot of stuff well, including being rapid troubleshooters. Literally. 🤓

It'd be no real problem to keep them in the Snare until further notice then, tho'?

It's the literal fortress-bunker that won't be worse for them being there to pin-cushion whatever tries to fuck with our mass-summoning by forcing it's way from the inside, but won't suddenly fall to pieces if we suddenly decide to grab 8 of them outta there, either.

The Erinyes are mostly there for their True Sight and mobility. Also, they are going to love the whole Demon genocide aspect of the plan.

Btw @Goldfish, have the new Erinyes been equipped yet?
Not the latest batch. We just got those Summoning numbers IC like a day ago, but they'll be equipped shortly, as in the first few days of the new month.

Getting in and out of the Snare isn't a quick or easy process, so having 9 Erinyes in it at any given time seriously hampers their ability to react. For beings accustomed to being able to instantly Teleport wherever they wish, whenever they need to, it would probably be a disconcerting experience to spend a lot of time inside.

At the very least, Mereth should be on the outside. She can annihilate targets from several thousand feet away, so her hanging out in the Snare is a waste.

Yeah, they'll likely enjoy that bit, maybe even a little too much. 🤫

There will be 4 Vigilant Briars inside, too, and they have even better powers of perception, so it's not like lowering the number of Erinyes inside would be detrimental to security. Maybe we can rotate them in groups of 4 at a time, so they can all appreciate the industrialization of Demon sacrifice?

@egoo, regardless of how we distribute the Erinyes, please add at least a couple Watchmoles for inside the Snare, too. A bit of Tremoresense can go a long way.

Done.
10x Watchmoles from "Free Forces" away, we have 90x free if we want any assigned throughout the month.

Granted, if we find that Leanan Sidhe we spoke to earlier, I want her recruited. She seemed so much better than the Leanan Sidhe from the Court of Stars who we had the displeasure of meeting.
Yeah, even though I don't think DP had it planned at the time, now she seems like the forward-thinking sort that saw the writing on the wall and decided to try and jump ship to our side before R'hlor came.

[X] Plane of Water Delegation: Wrap up the necessary permissions to create a Terminus in Amun Kelisk and try to avoid more unnecessary entanglements in the politics of the city.
-[X] Do note the personal wants of the local Archmages, on an off chance the Empire might be capable of providing it for either the troves of exotic (for PoW) lore, or general access to unique resources -- This here is not an invite for interlude series, but rather a desire to roll again and see if maybe this time the Archmages there have any desires we can fulfill quickly/easily enough to get them to work for us.
----[X] Hermetia; Grazdan the Grim; Koron Redmane; Lothos Saan; Menel Goldtooth; Living Ship Queen Rhaella & Diana the Sea Sprite; 1x Herald; 5x Advanced Erynies;
I'm not sure a regular ship can function in the plane where everything is underwater?
Even if there are dry places for the visitors, these are unlikely to accomodate a bluewater-navy ship.
[X] First 4 days of the month +- rng - attempt the summoning of the Daemon sighted in Sarnor last month.
Could you add this as part of the great Fiend-summoning for the CoF-ritual?
We would have maximal security gathered already at that point, so one more summon then is safer than trying it otherwise.

Looking back, it is quite understandable why Dusk Dancer was so obnoxious. She knew the moment the meeting stopped being diplomatic the Court of Stars CR 18+ assets would fall on us like an avalanche.

Yeah, now that we know what kind of heat the Court of Stars is packing it makes complete sense why they were so above negotiating fairly.

*smugness at oneself proclaiming how useless Rhaella-driad will end up being so long ago intensifies*

But no, seriously, imma just throw her outta the plan and not even try to fit anywhere.
The ship/driad's utterly useless, Diana though can arguably be useful.

This one is weird because we aren't summoning it the usual way, per se.
Some weird ritual shit and the fact it is utterly RNG-dependent insofar as "when" and "do we succeed" is concerned.
It's fine'ish in MAs I think. The rest of "summoning" has pretty strict calcs for it's timing after all.

Canon Omake: Worlds Afire
Worlds Afire

Borek Hammerswift had thought he knew war. It was not an unreasonable assumption, after all he had spend half a century as a mercenary, always fighting in one or another skirmish or battle, ever since he had left his clan and gone beyond the borders of the Burning Wilds into the more populated parts of the Plane of Fire.

He had fought in feuds among the Salamander-realms, he had guarded convoys over the Sea of Flames, he had even fought the Shaitan at Div's Delight a few times when the tides of war had driven up the prices for good mercenaries so far that it seemed worth the risk.

But he had never thought that he would see things like this when one of Ymeri's ladies had sent out word for hired blades and he had answered. It was not the beasts fighting in the sky, gigantic birds of fire tearing at each other in passing, while their riders exchanged spells and arrows. It was not the armies on the ground, elementals, fey, and bright-burning giants clashing with elementals looking no different, as well as angels with burning blades and stranger beings still.

What was new to him in this war was the way the world around him changed as his current employer exerted power over her domain and the Red God opposed her. It made for a sickening experience to witness the wall he was supposed to hold grow several hundred feet tall, its lower side made up of flames so hungry even the creatures of fire attacking it were swallowed, never to be seen again. Only for some priests carrying a holy relic to arrive and notice that he was suddenly barely a dozen feet above the ground, the wall beneath his feet made from simple basalt.

By now he had no idea how long he had been fighting, or even if the killing he did changed anything about the battle. The presence of the deities was twisting time and he was certain he had seen some of the Fey standing right now beside him die by steel and their corpses trampled under the shifting tide of battle.

Lately he had gotten the impression that the lines of conflict had come closer to Ymeri's palace than ever before, but his perception had betrayed him often enough by now that it was hard to trust such idea. He was not even sure if Ymeri losing ground was a bad thing. After all, conventional wisdom had little place in this war, and maybe the Fey queen could manifest yet greater powers over the world in the heart of her domain?

Or maybe she was losing, and he would never get to spend a single one of the gems he had been payed in.

Regardless, at this point the best he could do was to fight on and pray that Kossuth find his soul and take it to him in the mess his fellow fire-deities were making here, and maybe that was all a mercenary could hope for anyway.

___________

Outta nowhere an omake.
Hopefully it works as a little look into the conflict we are trying to dip a toe into.

I might have forgotten due to terrible memory but why does R'hlor have angel vassals when he is Lawful Evl?
He doesn't limit himself in what vassals he has.

Benerro for example is Lawful Good.

Similarly R'hllor isn't the only god to display this—the Father is Lawful Neutral and has Lawful Good Lucan as his Chosen.
