  • [X] The Queen's army will try to turn the flank with all forces, allowing her to overrun the center.
-[X] She will seek to slay the enemy commander.
--[X] Bahro will form the anchor of the assault for her forces, punching a hole straight through enemy lines.
[X] Zherys and Varys will try to maintain aerial supremacy with their mounts, and should they achieve it they will bring the hammerblow down in the form of breathweapons, hopefully helping to turn the flank.
[X] The other Companions will assist Namaaru.
-[X] This includes: Rina, Malarys and Vee + Teana's Trace
[X] Commit Nirah and four Guardian Nagas to the fight, as well as other minor PCs e.g Arcanums, Misfits, Assassins, Feylords, Fey. They will focus on taking advantage of the chaos to slay enemy mages or minor champions, or otherwise attempting to leverage their power to turn the fight in critical areas.

So the Moonchaser has gone through its first temporal anomaly; that means its finally gone full enterprise right? It was mostly there before, but this pretty much seals it. The only way it could be more through is if Moonsong hit on Some rubber forehead aliens while visiting the moon.

Interlude DCCCLViI: Battle of the Dead Fields, Part Five
Battle of the Dead Fields, Part Five

Nineteenth Day of the Second Month 294 AC

Ser Criston Storm had come a long way since he had faced the Vulture King, when it seemed his very blood had turned to ice at the sight of a dead man walking and fighting. He had gotten used to his shield floating in midair, moving as he willed it instead of held in hand, but this was nothing like any battle he had ever fought, It wasn't the chaos of a melee, with men cursing, bleeding and screaming in triumph or in pain. Instead it was as though two vast machines were grinding against each other, steel against steel and bone against bone, and the small band of living warriors and sorcerers were like a piece of gristle caught between the gears while above dragons danced with dead things that flickered in and out of sight, burnt orange in the glow of the flames.

Behind him Criston heard a woman's voice only half familiar, probably one of the incarnates saying something about time ghosts. Weren't all ghosts time ghosts? They were still here past their own time after all. The question passes through the knight's mind, leaving barely a ripple. All that mattered to him was that the fire no longer swept the battlefield, opening the way. Of course, they still had the metal giant to lead the way. Ting called him 'pupil', though Criston could not imagine how the adamantine behemoth could possibly be taught to punch harder, or why it would need to.

The ruin of the enemy's champions and beasts lay strewn in his path like shards of broken pottery in the wake of a raging bull, bent metal and bone broken and ground down. Criston's main concern, along with most of the rest of his company, was to keep the dead from simply burying Bahro under sheer weight of numbers so that the dragon things could pin him down and blunt the point of their spear.

Their ranks seemed to be thinning at least, all Criston could see ahead of him were ordinary walking corpses, not horrors stitched together from elder beasts.

The ranks ahead roiled like a wave and rose... rose, climbing on top of each other.... no, joining.

For just one moment the knight looked up at the monstrosity in dawning horror, unable to conceive of the mountain of bloody gnashing mouths and eyes, thrashing limbs and jagged ribs, some of them not even recognizable as human, just a terrible mass of hunger and gibbering madness.

Slick crimson whips disgorged themselves from four of its nameless orifices, and it was only when one of them missed him by inches and only by grace of his shield that Criston realize what they had once been, the guts of the dead.

Not the old dead, a part of his mind the knight could have done without noted, too wet and bloody. The thing must have been preying on on travelers or having its subjects bring it sacrifices.

What do Ser Criston and his fellows do?

Well that looks fun. @DragonParadox, the corpses won't disappear once they're killed again, right?

EDIT: Who am I kidding, I know better than to hope. :( We need a Ghostbusters Vacuum.

[] Try to ensure no mages or lesser champions interfere with the duel.

[] Nirah will do the following as Bahro attempts to pin the Mob in place: @Goldfish?

I figure Nirah is in this guy's weight class?

@DragonParadox Would Nirah be even closer considering he was not moving to strike directly at the commander, unlike the present Companions, or attempting to control the skies like Zherys?

These corpses are very physical unlike the rats, Crison can smell them... a little too well actually.

He's not that that close no and he does not have any good teleportation from what I recall.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox.

Mantle of Serpent Lord:
  1. 3/Day sacrifice a spell slot to use Summon Monster spell of same level
  2. You are protected by a Blur spell, granting a 20% miss chance on attacks made against you. It functions continually unless suppressed as a Standard Action. Another Standard Action restores the effect.
  3. Aspect of the Starry Sky:
    • Glow as if affected with a Light spell at will.
    • Convert any spell of 1st level and above to Magic Missile.
  4. Aspect of the Wide Earth:
    • Convert any Spell of 5th level and above to Teleport
    • Carrying capacity is doubled.
  5. Aspect of the Sullen Sea:
    • Hold breath for up to 12 hours before having to make a Constitution check.
    • Convert any spell of 4th level and above to Freedom of Movement.
  6. Aspect of the Golden Sun:
    • Immunity to blindness and dazzling effect
    • Convert any spell of 3rd level and above to Fireball.
  7. Harmony of the Four Aspects:
    • Benefit from Cold, Electricity, & Acid Resistance 5.
    • Convert any spell of 5th level and above to Commune.
@DragonParadox

Bahro really is a great counter to this kind of enemy. All of the other firepower being brought to bear doesn't hurt either, of course.

[X] This foe is beyond them. Criston and his fellows will try to withdraw, urging mages and lesser champions to retreat, to allow Bahro and the Queen's guard to deal with this.
-[X] Nirah will Teleport to this part of the battlefield to lend his aid to Bahro and the Queen's guards in destroying the Charnel Colossus.
-[X] Tyene will lend the weight of her magic to destroying the Charnel Colossus as soon as she is able, making certain to attack it from maximum range while avoiding friendly fire.
-[X] As soon as she is able, Vee will cast a Summon Monster VIII spell to Summon a Monadic Deva, then another SM VIII to Summon 1d3+1 Movanic Devas. They will move to lend support to those fighting the Charnel Colossus in whatever manner they deem necessary, whether that means healing allies or smiting the Colossus and its minions.
-[X] If any of the Moonchasers or our other vessels can take a shot at the Charnel Colossus without risking friendly fire or endangering themselves, they will do so.
