Mereth's new bow pushes the limit on constant range enhancement (300 feet per range increment). She can also use her Wind Tunnel maneuver (unrelated to the Wind Tunnel spell) to attack at maximum range with no range increment penalties.

If the Wind Tunnel spell stacks with the other effects, however, that would increase it to a range increment of 600 feet. Add a Near Horizon spell effect and she could hit targets up to 6,000 feet away without penalties. That's sick.

Fury's Scorn: This +2 Composite Long-Range Dragonbone Longbow has a +10 Strength bonus and the Splitting, Magebane, and Distance special abilities.
  • Stats: Damage (1d8+12; x3 Crit, Special: Each arrow can hit twice, requiring separate Ranged Attack Rolls), Range Increment: 300 feet (130 [Dragonbone Composite Longbow] + 20 feet [Long-Range property], Doubled by Distance)
  • Greater Weapon Crystal of True Death: Arrows fired from this bow inflict an additional +1d6 damage to Undead, gain the Ghost Touch property, and can be used to deliver Sneak Attack and Critical Hits against Undead as if they were living creatures.
  • Silver Nocking Point: When using a weapon equipped with a Silver Nocking Point, treat penalties for wind conditions as though they were one step less severe. For example, when firing a ranged projectile in severe wind conditions the ranged penalty would be -2 instead of -4. Magical wind effects that would normally deflect the projectile (such as Fickle Winds) instead impose only a -8 penalty on the attack roll.
Even without that range buff Near Horizon would still let her shoot people at 3,000 ft. I was just looking for something else to make this even more dangerous and found a few things. First is Guided Shot, which is like NH but only lasts one round and has some stuff to reduce miss chance. The real prize is Sniper's Shot though, because it lets you make sneak attacks regardless of distance to the target as long as you meet the other requirements for a shot. That'll make for some hilariously high bonus damage if the shooter has the right build.

On an unrelated note I also found Rapid Burrowing, which would let us add 20ft to the burrow speed of those mole dogs. It's a first level spell that lasts 10 minutes/ CL so making that constant or very long lasting would be pretty cheap.

Our Watchmoles actually have that as an SLA already. I swapped it in place of the Entangle SLA from Greenbound and DP didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Oops, must have missed the change at some point.

I found another spell for the range doubling thing by the way. I figure that DP probably won't let us stack effects that work the same way (like two wind based range boosters), but he might let us stack spells and abilities that don't use the same vector to improve range. Accuracy doubles a weapon's range increment without really being explicit about how, but it's a transmutation spell and talks about altering the weapon so presumably it works by changing the weapon in a way that doubles it's range instead of providing a tailwind to push the arrow along.

Maybe we'll get really lucky and DP will let them both stack, and get a 12,000 ft / 3.65 km range. :V

Be nice to get some more images for some of our forge creations.
Getting good Plant-creature versions of stuff is difficult. For example, there are several Dogmole pictures that would work for our Watchmoles, except the Watchmoles are Greenbound Plant creature versions of them, which don't really fit the image.

And there are the other anatomical differences that have to be accounted for. A Watchman creature has lots of additional eyes, so even a decent picture is going to somewhat lacking.

Heh! So apparently Pathfinder has appropriated the most popular monsters from Philippine folklore, although thinks an Aswang is good as a vampire template.

Now the tales about them vary from province to province, but none is about blood drinking at all. It's all about shapeshifters eating livers, hearts, and fetuses.

[] Remove gear from cost of Vigilant Hunters
[] Add some Verdant Phoenixes
[] add "Aquatic Defense Group" to every capital city currently lacking one (Tyrosh, Lys, Myr, Pentos, Tolos, Lorath, Volantis, Naath, Basilisk Isles)
[] add Herald of the Ferryman [CR 15 (28,800 IM) Sea Cat]

Anything else I'm forgetting? @Goldfish, @Duesal, @Crake, @BronzeTongue?

Say @egoo, I know this might burden you, but could earmark an action in the turn plan to destroy every lyre of building that is at 3 months or older. It will be a lot reassuring. I have been agonising over this since the lyres have been introduced, but I thought it was being taken care of in the background and did not say anything. But now that I know otherwise , I cannot be at peace.

I'll add that to Minor Actions, dont worry.

And it's not like we aren't doing that this very moment anyway, since Goldfish agreed on that - he's the one behind all of the equipmentomancy, after all.

Interlude DCCCXXXIII: The Devil and the Damned
The Devil and the Damned

Twenty Ninth Day of the First Month 294 AC

They stepped upon the shore without fear, the archon and the devil black-feathered both shrouded in mortal magic as the artifice of a new age streaked above in crimson twilight false and true. "We come in peace and mean no hard!" Tirael called and Usizil did not speak against it, they did after all, even if peace came with a hand upon the sword's hilt.

This place was odd in a way she could not put a name to until she looked more carefully at the lizards scurrying in the underbrush and the bright-plumed birds flying startled from the treetops. Not a one of them cast a shadow. Had they been lost or... the fury glanced up at the sun, the almost imperceptible shimmer of magic she could only glimpse out of the corner of her eye for she was no sorceress. Had they been stolen for some other purpose?

It did not take them long to stumble upon a trail cutting too straight to have been forced by any simple beast and at the trail's end a camp, or what was left of one after centuries. Pieces of rope so fragile they fell apart in the hand hung from the branches of fig trees and among the ferns here and there pitted iron could be seen.

The captain was the first to catch sight of the old fire pit still strangely undisturbed, but it was the devil who crouched down to touch the ashes. "Still warm, be wary..."

The thought faded before she was done for from the ash before her a vortex rose, cold and grasping even for the warmth of deathless flesh. An arrow flew from ensorcereled bow... a scream of pain almost human, almost mortal, though from great distance. A ghostly form from the ash arose, eyes like embers, sword of dead black slate in its hand as it charged Tirael. "Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! You aren't real!"

Even as the shadow's weapon bit into the archon's flesh, spilling ruby-bright blood upon the ground, the trees around the camp began to uproot themselves with groans of wood that sounded like the voices of the damned. Such would not daunt a once-warrior of Hell. Arrow after arrow pierced the wood, rotting ichor spilling from the wounds in place of sap.

"We should leave! Let the wyverns handle it!" Usizil called out, though as she turned to look upon the captain's battle she saw with her Hell-blessed eyes that what had among the ash looked like nothing more than vaguely humanoid column of darkness with hungry eyes was instead the shadow of a young woman garbed in what the Westerosi counted men's attire, a silk shirt with a doublet with buttons of bone and gold.

She knew this one, though she had seen only a faded painting in Oldtown when they had passed that way. Once her locks had been flaxen, once her eyes had been green and for that painting she had worn a smile that spoke of bright ambition. A pity, Usizil thought to see her so twisted in death by curse or sorrow, and then she was by herself amazed.

Weren't there supposed to be trumpets and choirs of angels singing of redemption? she thought then with the humor that been hers in kindness and in cruelty through the long ages.

All she got instead was a blow from a branch of cursed wood that merely sent her off her feet. The dark warrior cursed and spat blood for good measure, then she called: "Elissa Farman, we come in peace and we would give you aid if you can still take it!"

At the sound of her name the specter of the woman whose journeys they had followed to this place stopped suddenly uncertain. "You're not real," she said again.

"Could you have imagined too strange a sight as us?" Tirael asked between breaths ragged with pain.

To that the spirit had no answer but a sudden laugh throwing back her head. Mad yes, but there was also to it a hint of relief. Her voice was perhaps a little closer.

She had a beautiful laugh, Usizil thought before the spirit faded, the cursed trees returned to rest.

"Prove it," the words hung in the air so soft that mortal ears might have not heard them at all.

"Well," Tirael said as his enchanted belt surrounded him with a warm healing glow. "Looks like we are going to need a sorcerer adept in spirits to talk to her, but there's more than a bit of gold to point us further west."

What next?

Ah. She's young and pretty. We're going to end up helping her and recruiting her somehow, aren't we?
I've seen how these things go.
