Creating living gear for our people isn't beyond the bounds of reason, but making sentient creatures intended as spellcasting fashion accessories is crazy, and not in a good way. It would be less ethically dubious, and more useful besides, to simply grow servitor creatures, such as Advanced Cleric Creature Lotus Leshy, to assign to the Legion.
I don't really see it as ethically dubious, the spell casting snake, is just using the Legionnaire as a battle-mount, while he's using it as a supporting caster, it's not like it's going to be his belt 24/7, riding around on him and casting spells for him, is just its job, when it's not on the job it can do whatever.

And yes servitor creatures of a higher level are more useful, but they're also far more costly, a 1-2HD caster snake, only cost us 3-6HD worth of corpses, whereas creatures that can independently support the Legion cost far more, and most of them have to be made with reagents, as we can't get ahold of high enough CR corpses.

The belt snakes, are meant to be an affordable way, for all our Legionnaires to have some support, although maybe belt snakes are an inappropriate word for them, they aren't really belts, they're simply snakes that coil around a Legionnaire, so they can assist him in battle.

Beings like Advanced Cleric Creature Lotus Leshy are awesome, but they're also expensive, and so not really something we can make sure every small squad of Legionnaire has with them, the belt snakes, are meant to be cheap, so ideally every Legionnaire can work with one.

oh my, who could have guessed that researching Psionics would be dangerous.
When we have all manners of eldritc Abominations gunning for us.
Oooh noooo~

I'm fine with this.
Hell, I'm fine with not touching the subject for a whole while after, we have better things to focus on.

Would be nasty if we lost Urak to this, and I won't really be able to trust him with anything sensitive after such an event.

Can we all agree that the next turn we should assign him to being prodded through mentally until we are sure no hidden influence or triggers have been left in him (them?) by the event?

...Well, assuming we even manage to repair him now?
This feels like the "make the researcher sabotage the research subconsciously"-thing, very much so.

Aldo, those pillars are neat, but they need guard. I'll throw together a few lists for the next month....

Worst case, if we can't confidently say the influence has been purged from him, we feed him and a few demons to Yss, and have Yss create us a new Urak.

...though we probably should also trap Saenena right now.
There is a non-zero possibility she is the one affected by Far Realm and bluffs us to lead into a trap.

Shouldn't we contain the other researcher before we head to the crime scene?

I mean she outright said she was afraid she was contaminated so we wouldn't be remiss with bottling her real quick before we left.

Changed my vote a little.

I don't really think we need to specify this, considering that between them, Lya, Dany, and Viserys should think to do it, but it doesn't hurt to be thorough.

I know a GM who had a group fight androids with no ammo for their guns because they forgot to tell him they where taking some with them when exploring a new planet, sometimes you've just got make sure to mention the little things.

Stuff like that has happened in this quest too. DP once had Viserys leave Alinor no money whatsoever because everyone else assumed that it was the obvious thing to do and never mentioned it.
