Not really insomuch. He doesn't seem to agree entirely with mind-warping mortals, but he thinks he's worth more than what he's getting now too. He's probably not wrong, either, if he can go multiple rounds with Ser Richard.

It says something about our policies when I see someone so clearly undervalued and the only thought in my head is "a pittance of gold and we've got them."

I mean really it's like no one else understands a competitive job market around here.

To be fair, the land to distribute can be a bit of a stretch to people who're not able to aggressively expand into places like Sothoryos and Valyria. But aside from that you are right, the price is an absolute bargain. Giving your subordinate good gear and a mount isn't even a cost, for crying out loud.

Like most people we've recruited. Yes.

@Goldfish, how about adding Vahanna to the Hedgethorn Hippogriff for additional speed, SR, a swim speed and a few more bonuses all around? Add Horseshoes of Speed and he becomes blazingly fast. Perfect for dogfighting with draconic monsters and dinosaurs.
Dunno about giving him a sentient being to serve as a mount. He wanted a steed, after all, not a partner.

Vahana is also a template only applicable to animals, while the Hedgethorn Hippogriffs are Plant creatures.

The idea was to apply the template before making it a plant by applying Greenbound. Though I forgot that magical animals are not fair game.

@Goldfish Can we make a souped up mount for him if he's higher CR than we thought?

Something with the Mighty Template would be able to beat off all kinds of nastiness and be relevant in a high CR fight.

I don't necessarily want to make the mount stronger. I'm mostly interested in making it faster.
It has a base flight speed of 110. A Tail-Ring of Speed can add a +30ft Enhancement bonus. If we Permanency (using diamonds instead of XP) an Aerial Alacrity on it, that's another +30ft.

170ft flight speed is really nice for anything that isn't a full on Dragon. That's 77 mph at a "run".

RIP to anything on the receiving end of an aerial cavalry charge.

Don't they work better on the ground, though? Their build doesn't exactly have the feats to exploit for mounts.
Yes, but not all enemies are ground-based. And nothing says the Minotaurs can't dismount and fight on the ground while their trained Hedgethorn Hippogriffs fight alongside them, or in the air.

I don't think we should go crazy with this proposal, but 10 or 12 Hedgethorn Hippogriffs with Minotaur riders would be a really helpful complement to our Minotaur forces. They're decent combatants on their own, and the value of aerial scouting cannot be underestimated, but their SLAs would synergize amazingly well with the Minotaurs. Entangle at will and a 1/Day Wall of Thorns, used properly, can shape a battlefield to give charging Minotaurs a huge advantage.

I like the symbolism of securing the loyalty of a fae who's lord would be a dragon's bane, with a literal sword of dragon's bane provides. Fae do love that kind of shit.

[X] Yes, you could always use another skilled warrior and his knowledge of the Court of Stars's intrigues in the Reach would be worth learning
-[X] We will offer him land of his own in Draconys, along with funding and assistance to develop his new fief's infrastructure. In addition to that, we will grow him a Hedgethorn Hippogriff mount and provide him with suitable equipment, unless he already has something better or would prefer items of similar value with different properties, though such would require time to allow our crafters to enchant the equipment.

Fey Knight: "I want a sword and a horse."

Viserys: *silently quivering*

Fey Knight: "... is he okay?"

Rina: "Oh no."

Dany: "Take cover!"

Richard: *already hiding in a tree*

Viserys: *projectile vomits a stream of gold and treasure on top of the fey*

Thoughts on hypothetical curses for dealing with the fey. Instead of trying to kill them all, what if we give them what they want in the worst possible way?

They've put all this effort into making the mortal world more fey, and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste. Ritual magic and fey narrativium both play games with connections, and what goes one way often goes the other as well. If the fey can make the mortal world and those who live in it more like them, why not make the fey themselves more like mortals?

Specifically by having Yss, god of the cycle of life and death, take away their agelessness in proportion to how closely they live among mortals.
