Omake: Viserys’ Servant Sheet (Caster)
A/N: So I recently read back through the thread, and noticed that despite the many Fate Memes spread around the place we never got a proper Weaboo contribution to the threadmarks.

The following is my attempt to rectify this situation.

Hopefully I've managed to keep him at least somewhat balanced and not OP trash. Whilst I know that I may get flack for not including his Companions or the Imperium in his NP's, remember that this is Viserys as a Caster and not a Ruler or Rider. With that said, any comments or advice are welcome!

Viserys' Servant Sheet (Caster)

True Name: Viserys Targaryen

Servant Class: Caster

Alternate Classes: Rider, Ruler.

Alignment: True Neutral

Origin: Planetos (A Sword without a hilt)

Parameters

Strength: D

Though possessed of strength far beyond what his appearance would suggest, Caster was at no point famed for his physical might.

Endurance: B
Clad in a fortune's worth of protective gear such as his cloak and belt, Caster is extremely resistant to physical attack, though not completely invincible.

Agility: C
An early affinity for sleight of hand has grown into a well-developed talent for dextrous movement, though his speed is not amazing by Servant standards.

Mana: A++
To those who can truly see, he is a raging tempest of arcane energy, capable of blinding even the most hardened observer. And yet, it still seems that he is holding back…

Luck: A
Somehow, he will always be where he needs to in order to effect change upon the world.

Noble Phantasm: EX
Don't look too closely at this one- you wouldn't want to Wake the Dragon, would you?

Skills

Class Skills

Item Construction: D

Through exposure to some of the finest enchanters and artificers throughout the planes (including his own wife), Caster receives this skill at rank D despite never formally studying the art. He can enchant low-level mystic codes and imbue items with temporary magical effects.

Territory Creation: C

Though extremely skilled in their use and maintenance, Caster was never famed as a ritualist or researcher who used workshops, and as such gains this skill at C rank. At this level, it is possible to claim a 'territory', which can then be used as an anchor for further wards and enchantments. Though his status as a 'King' would allow him to exercise this skill at a very high rank, this influence is degraded by his summoning in the Caster class.

Independent Action: A+

As a King famed throughout the world as a proactive and tireless ruler, Viserys Targaryen receives the highest possible rank of Independent Action. With a Rank of A+ that exceeds even A, the support of a Master is unnecessary even while unleashing a large amount of Magical Energy, though multiple uses of a Noble Phantasm will prove tiring. It is an ability that bends the rules and allows for the continued materialisation of Servants even after the conclusion of a Holy Grail War. Even as his Imperium grew and flourished, Viserys was never sedentary or idle. It is only natural that one so devoted to freedom be granted it at such a level. This skill is only improved by the presence of his Draconic power- A True Dragon cannot be chained, by exhaustion or otherwise.

Personal Skills

Discernment of the Poor: D

Beginning his journey in the seedier parts of Braavos with naught but his wits to keep him and his young sister alive, Viserys was forced to witness the darkest parts of humanity, and during his time as a King dealt with many dissemblers and fake promises from sources both mortal and supernatural. Through it all, he never lost that spark of insight that allowed him to tell truth from falsehood, granting him this skill at D-Rank. He can almost always tell when someone is lying, even by omission, though certain supremely skilled actors and some supernatural abilities are capable of fooling him.

Golden Rule: A

From the slums of Braavos to the mastery of the known world, Viserys has been famed for his vast wealth, even though such financial acumen was not thought to be the province of a King. At his capital of Sorcerer's Deep it is said that the wealth of entire planar empires flows through the city over the course a single day, most of which ends up in the Royal coffers in a similar manner to a Dragon's hoard. Viserys will never want for capital, political or otherwise. At this rank, in the immense storage space of his cloak he may carry a massive variety of enchanted objects, alchemical reagents and potions, or any other items he deems necessary when summoned. Combined with his Charisma, he will never be seen as anything less than a man of wealth and power and worthy of respect, even if brought in front of an opponent in chains.

Charisma: A

As the King who took a pirate hold and developed it into one of the greatest Empires in history, Viserys Targaryen can be said to have achieved the greatest possible level of popularity as a human being. Tales abound that even recordings of his speeches have driven his followers to the heights of heroism and swayed the hearts of all but his bitterest enemies. In fact, Viserys is qualified to gain this skill at A+ Rank, but refuses due to its manifestation as 'a mind altering curse' when used at that level.

Magic Resistance: A

"One who surpassed his mortality to claim the mantle of a 'True' Red Dragon".

This is an integral part of the legend of Viserys, who was famous for vanquishing even the most potent magical threats, since he charged himself with the task of protecting the kingdom. He carries the very magical power of the Dragon as an effect of his Noble Phantasm, which bestows Magic Resistance at A rank, rendering him completely immune to anything less than High Thaumaturgy. This humongous magical power is also the source of Caster's high Mana reserves and Prana Burst (Flames).

Due to the characteristics of a Dragon, Caster should also gain the weaknesses of one; If he is targeted by 'Dragon-slaying Sorceries', it is possible that his Magic Resistance will not function to its fullest extent, though this limitation is somewhat mitigated by the effect of his Noble Phantasm.

Mana Burst (Flames): C

The ability to store up large quantities of mana in the body or armaments and expel them all at once in solid, jet-like blasts. Thanks to his overwhelming magical power and draconic nature, Caster naturally receives this skill, though its rank is degraded due to the limitations of the Caster class. Nevertheless, he may enshroud any weapon he holds with magical flames to increase their power, and may remotely do the same to any natural fire sources, detonating them in a powerful explosion as an attack- or a distraction.

Noble Phantasms

Name: The Serpent's Sin:
Let the price of Greed be paid.

Rank: A
Type: Barrier/Support
Range: N/A
Maximum Number of Targets: N/A

Description: A cloak seemingly composed of molten coins that flow down its length in an endless river, this is in fact a powerful artefact crafted from the corpse of an Arch-Duke of Hell- Mammon, the Lord of Minauros. Bested by Viserys Targaryen with the aid of his Companions, this cloak enhances his defences both physical and mystical and functions as an endless repository in which the treasures of the King may be stored.

Even those of the enemy are not safe should they be so greedy as to attempt to take its master's life- should the cloak be physically struck while its True Name is invoked, it will draw the offending weapon into its depths, sealing it permanently. Only Noble Phantasms of a rank equal to or greater than its own can resist this ability.

Effect: Increases the wearer's Endurance and magic resistance by a full rank, up to a maximum of A, and provides the same benefit to the skill 'Golden Rule'. When activated will negate the next attack that physically touches it, sucking in the weapon and permanently sealing it until retrieved by Caster.

Name: Shadow of the Doom: May you share the fate of Valyria.

Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Army/Anti-Fortress
Range: 40
Maximum Number of Targets: ???

Description: Originally only an (admittedly powerful) spell, this mystery has been elevated by both Viserys' own power and the weight of his legend, being emblematic of his overwhelming sorcerous might on a thousand battlefields. Striking with the force of a modern nuclear weapon, it shrouds entire battlefields for kilometres in every direction in burning ash, shot through with sheets of incandescent lightning.

Anything with less than the greatest of defences is summarily obliterated- melted by the insane heat or else charred into an obsidian statue, never to move again. Even if they survive they cannot emerge unscathed- thanks to its reputation as the downfall of even the mighty mage-lords of Valyria this spell forces the enemy to suffer, dealing damage even through EX-Rank Magic Resistance, though greatly reduced in scope.

Thus is echoed the destiny of the Ancients anew upon the world- a Catastrophe so mighty that not even the greatest of heroes could hope to escape the shared suffering of Valyria.

Effect: A battle-magic so powerful that it can be confused with a natural disaster, this spell is launched at an area designated by Caster and converts the chosen locations into a recreation of Valyria's fall, complete with massive destructive potential that will partially pierce even the strongest defence, with the exception of certain other Noble Phantasms.

Name: Draconic Ascension: The King reclaims his Birthright.

Rank: EX
Type: Support
Range: 0
Maximum Number of Targets: Self

Description: Perhaps the greatest triumph of Viserys Targaryen and the most well known aspect of his legend. Through his many great trials and world-shaking victories over endless tides of assailants, he succeeded in kindling the dormant spark within his bloodline that for so many centuries had been dwindling, claiming the mantles of True Dragon and Dragonlord in a time when even the most feeble workings were considered great sorceries.

As such, this noble phantasm is nothing less than an expression of his true nature as both a Dragon and Man at the same time, which would normally be impossible for the Grail to sustain. Indeed, its mere presence is a paradox that is only overcome by the sheer conceptual weight of Caster's existence, and can thus only be granted the EX-Rank. Thanks to the effect of this Noble Phantasm, as log as Viserys is in human form he is immune to 'Anti-Dragon' attacks that would otherwise impair him. He is also resistant to the instincts of his kind, able to maintain rational thought even when provoked or under stress.

A sublimation of his draconic abilities into a Noble Phantasm, this ability lets Viserys Targaryen maintain the skills bestowed by his heritage, even surpassing the usual allotment of skills to his class vessel if necessary. A passive effect that can never be removed regardless of Class or Summoner.

Only when fully invoked, however, is its true power revealed, allowing Viserys to shed his mortal trappings and fully embrace his existence as a True Dragon. This massively boosts every single one of his attributes, unseals the use of his Dragon's Breath skill and further improves his already excellent Magic resistance, though at the cost of making him vulnerable to Anti-Dragon effects. Even so, the might granted by this form can be said to be on par with divinity, and it is the ultimate expression of power that Viserys can evoke.

"Fire and Blood" are the words of House Targaryen. Should this Noble Phantasm be completely unleashed, the enemy will inevitably learn the true meaning of both.

Effect: Passively gain the skills Charisma, Independent Action, Magic Resistance, Golden Rule and Mana Burst (Flames). The rank of these skills may be modified by Class and Summoner.

If fully unleashed, transform into a True Dragon (Red) with the following stats and extra skills:

Strength: A+
Endurance: A++
Agility: C
Mana: EX
Luck: A+

Magic Resistance: A+
Mana Burst (Flames): B
Charisma: A+
(Specifically when used for intimidation)
Battle Continuation: B

Gain the following extra Noble Phantasm:

Name: Dragon's Breath: The All-Consuming Flame

Rank: A+
Type: Anti-Unit/Anti Army
Range: 2
Maximum Number of Targets: ???

Description: The Signature skill of any Dragon, rendered into a Noble Phantasm thanks to the weight of legends behind it. Thanks to Viserys' ascension and his journey down the path of the Dragon Mystic, his expression of this skill is more powerful even than the legends say. Such is his connection to his Draconic power that his breath has become more of a conceptual effect than an actual attack, burning all caught in its area of effect regardless of its nature or defenses. The only way to emerge unscathed from this attack is to avoid it.

Effect: A 50ft cone of conceptual flame that burns all within it, dealing heavy damage. This attack cannot be blocked or negated by any means, only avoided, and will deal full damage under all circumstances as long as the target is hit.

Strength: A+
Endurance: A+
Agility: C
Mana: EX
Luck: A+

Magic Resistance: A+
Mana Burst (Flames): B
Charisma: A+
(Specifically when used for intimidation)

Is Waymar not already weeb enough for you ?

Mana: A++
To those who can truly see, he is a raging tempest of arcane energy, capable of blinding even the most hardened observer.

Name: Shadow of the Doom:
May you share the fate of Valyria.

Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Army/Anti-Fortress

Even if they survive they cannot emerge unscathed- thanks to its reputation as the downfall of even the might mage-lords of Valyria this spell forces the enemy to suffer, dealing damage even through EX-Rank Magic Resistance, though greatly reduced in scope.

Description: Perhaps the greatest triumph of Viserys Targaryen and the most well known aspect of his legend. a ruler Viserys omake would be tight.

Especially because he would be having none of the other servants, or even the holy grails, shit.

"A free for all death match between powerful wizards and their demi-god slaves? In a crowded civilian settlement? Not on your lives."

He's lacking a blood sacrifice related ability, growing Weirwoods, sacrificing to Yss, and other acts of sacrifice, is a central part of Viserys legend, and such rituals very much resonate with being summoned as a Caster.

I disagree. It's true that he did those things, but he did them in his role as 'Ruler of the Imperium' not 'Viserys the Arch-Sorcerer'. Also, by being summoned he loses connections to outside forces unless specifically calling on them as a Noble Phantasm, and I think that blood sacrifice would be overshadowed by stuff like SotD or GIANT FUCK-OFF DRAGON.

Is Waymar not already weeb enough for you ?

Only once he realises that people tend to die when they are killed.

Interlude DXVIII: On Lonely Paths
On Lonely Paths

Tenth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

It was hardly uncommon to see two travelers struggling over the rough trails of the Mountains of the Moon. These paths had not been made for horses, a fact which had kept the clansmen alive for two-thousand years and more against the flower of Westerosi chivalry, yet the knight riding ahead of the pair did not seem particularly troubled to be here, whistling the slightly off-key tune for a more than slightly off-color Westerlander ballad as he gently urged his horse along.

"I don't suppose I could convince you to stop," his companion spoke up half-way between amusement and annoyance, though definitely moving towards the latter. "I'll even pay you good silver for it if you like."

"And what precisely to you take me for, my lady, that I would take such base bribery?" Ser Roger 'Reyne' mock-scoffed. "Some ragged sellsword to abandon my art for coin?"

"Your 'art's' scaring off the birds and beasts, good Ser," Jeyne Weaver announced, and indeed so it seemed to be, the silence that followed her words broken only by the sound of steel hooves chipping away the chalky stone of the path.

"I don't think that's my singing," Roger said after a moment, his voice turning deadly serious in an instant. "There's something 'round here... the air smells cold. I think we're getting closer."

The woman closed her eyes a moment, light dancing behind her eyelids as she reached out with more than mortal senses. "There's nothing close at least." A somewhat wan smile flickered on her face. "Beware sharp pointy sticks from on high..." Strange how the memory of almost getting killed could grow into a jest between them with time and distance.

"Warrior knows there's plenty of perches to hide on," Ser Roger said, looking across the mist-shrouded rising above them to the east with renewed suspicion.

"Do you think they would hide?" Jeyne asked, nervously. It felt wrong to be riding into trouble instead of just watching their backs for it. She had no illusions about being any sort of hero, yet here she was looking for wights out of the Long Night, on the word of some toothless wildling wizard because the Dragon King trusted him for some reason, or maybe he just trusted the Old Gods of the woods. She had caught him looking at the carved face of a Heart Tree less like a man might towards an altar of the gods and more like she looked at... Roger, and wasn't that an unsettling thing to contemplate. What do you call a man who treats the gods like someone he might have a drink with in the evening, especially when those gods love no drink better than blood?

"That noseless old bastard said whatever is out here is hunting men, wildlings, and settled folk alike," Roger replied, setting his hand on the haft of his mace. "Can't really hunt if you can't stalk."

A cold mist rolled in from the east as they spoke, muffling their words and veiling their sight, though Jeyne again called upon the powers of her mind to sharpen both their senses and link them both together as they moved. For good measure she included the horses in the scope of the magic. Their simple minds may not understand the quarrels of humankind, but they knew about protecting the herd.

The air grew still, the path seemed to twist under the horses' hooves, until it was hard to tell if they were still on it or growing ever more lost among the crumbling stone and dying light. Ahead a light flickered pale yellow along with what might have been the silhouette of another rider lost as they were... but the two were not lost and the figure had no rider.

"Get your lance out," Jeyne whispered.

Now a lance was not normally something one picked up out of a bag on the move, much less doing so stealthily, but that did not account for the trick old Tobho Mott had pulled. He'd been the first to realize that with the magic that made everything from steel to parchment harder you could make a folding lance that would not just snap off when you hit the enemy.

Roger shook out the weapon and fixed it below his shield and roared out the words of House Reyne: "Paid in Blood!" Horse and rider smashed into the shadowy thing like a fist of steel.

It looked like a mountain goat with tangled and patchy gray-and-white hair, but that was where the similarities ended. Its horns and hooves seemed to be one with the stone of the mountain, and around its neck hung a dented and ugly iron lantern, glowing with an amber light.

The thing barely shifted under the blow, turning its cold empty eyes to its foes... the light in its lantern began to burn brighter and brighter, clinging to the cold air like some foul miasma.

"Burn!" Jeyne called. No words of power did her magic use, no incantations of old, only her will, and her will was for this thing to die. An arrow of flame flashed from her fingers and the belt began to smolder with an acrid smell, but just as it would not break before the charge of a knight in armor so would the dark spirit not burn before mere mortal whim, for it was old beyond telling, a harvester that had supped upon the souls of singers and giants before even the coming of men, and it felt in its foes an essence unlike any it had ever tasted.

The lantern flared, and in its radiance Jeyne saw Ser Roger's easy courage falter, terror inscribed in ever line of his face as he urged his horse blindly onward, but that same power swirled against the edges of her mind as the ocean laps upon a granite rock, finding no purchase.

As the goat-spirit charged her she reached again into her wellspring of power and cast fire into being. This time the creature died in truth, biting into the stone of the path before it could reach her.

"Roger!" she called after her companion. "Roger, it's dead..." A cold wind began to stir as she turned her horse about.

"Not going to claim the corpse, tsk, tsk... what would the King think?" a soft almost melodic voice called out from behind her. The shadow-weaver, Tor emerged from the stone wall beside the path, black bag already yawning open.

"Where were you?" the sorceress asked angrily.

"I was about to act. Keeping up with a charging horse is not one of my skills," he shrugged. "I suggest we move carefully lest we be ambushed ourselves..." As Jeyne set off at as close to a gallop as she could manage, she heard him sigh behind her. "Or you could ride ahead and spring the ambushes. I'll be right along."

OOC: Here we are. It's nice to be able to run just one creature encounters from time to time without worrying about all the tricks the main party has.

@DragonParadox, how strong was the Lantern Goat? Can we take its lantern? I'm assuming it's special somehow.

Were there any levelups here considering how weak everyone in question is?

  1. The Lantern Goat is this thing, the latern is specifically called out as something that cannot be looted, since it dies with the goat and cannot be taken from a live one
  2. Not yet, though they are getting there.

I guess you could enchant it with runes since it is old, just like the creature it was taken from.
It'd be worth a shot later on since this thing is literally older than the First Men coming to Westeros. Not now, sure, but later.
Bloodborne weapons are a possibility now.

Wonderful.
Yeah, I was pleased with that detail. Foldable lances would be great for the Knightly Griffin Order for one thing.
