No, heaven didn't commit some sin to deserve this, and no amount of sin is worth this.
Of course they didn't commit some sin to deserve this, when did I ever say they did, what I was saying, was that if this can be done to the Upper Planes, then logic says it should be theoretically possible, to do it to the Lower Planes too, which mean we could potentially extract a positive from this, by learning how this was done, and doing it to the Lower Planes, it still wouldn't make up for the damage to the Upper Planes, but it would be nice, if we could devastate The Abyss, Hell and Abaddon, like the Upper Planes were devastated.

I'd prefer to save this for when we can afford to build some kind of a base here (preferably with people who won't go mad in this place). The trees would need protection.

By the way @DragonParadox, when we have the means to establish a base here, what would be the extra cost for growing a Weirwood Heart Tree here? I remember in Valyria it was double or triple the base cost. I was thinking we could grow a tree and have the godswood be Dawn Fruit as the part of the revitalization.

You would have to ask Bloodraven, Viserys cannot guess.

Is it even possible to establish a base here?

Even Viserys, someone of astounding mental fortitude, starts stumbling around in fear as soon as he gets onto the Plane.
It might be possible to get...acclimated to this hellscape, but I wouldn't wish that upon anybody.

[] Viserys hugs Yarel, Mereth holds his (Yarel's) hand "I'm so, so sorry"
-[] Viserys casts a CL 1 shadow of the doom, an individual 20x20 square, not for destruction, but to change the sand to volcanic soil.
-[] Mythic power/Bloodwish to collect some of Yarel's tears that blew away in the wind
-[] Take a Dawnfruit from the cloak, (we have one with us, go with it), and Mereth plants it in the soil
-[] Use the tears as part of a water conjuring spell, use Mythic Power/bloodwish to use XP to permanent the spell.
-[] Use some sort of "actual sunlight spell" via mythic power (there's got to be one at or below level 8). Use XP to make it permanent.
-[] plant growth spell on the planted dawnfruit. (XP permanent?)
I like this, although we could possibly do something else. We can't really build a realm of Good, since we ourselves are not Good and our main Good buddy just kinda... stopped doing that. What we can do, however, is build a Lawful Neutral Plane. One where Gods of all stripes are welcome, so long as they work towards peace and prosperity, where Fiends can Rise and Angels Fall, but still find a home. What we need to build, is a Sanctuary.

Whatever this was.. it's a violation of the natural order on an almost unimaginable scale. Expanding it, even to Hell or the Abyss would likely do far more harm than good. Daunting as the task may be the solution is most likely in building not destruction

We are all but the chosen of the green dreaming. If we put blood towards it life can bloom here absent water or sunlight.

Viserys' blood, freely given only. I don't think that anything that has been taken from others would work for such a thing here.

But my idea, this tiny thing... Is definitely not something worth trying without thought.

@DragonParadox the Black Hole in the sky, the one in the Dream in Essaria when the party overbuffed, any relation to what we are seeing now or just coincidencly similar imagery?

We'll be sure to ask him.

Our devils could do it, though I'd definitely have them on a rotation.
Well, if people want to make Lucan pop a vein making a Gardening Project in the Upper Planes is a good way to :V
Our trees are the best and most efficient way to grow the Dawn Fruit. At minimum I'm hoping a spreading forest will bring back some life to this place.

Though that big hole in reality is a big problem....

@Crake, so with our staff, whenever we use our ravens, Bloodraven and the Old Gods get to see through their eyes as well. Would you mind using that ability so they can get a good look of the place? I feel like it'll give him more time to have answers to our questions in the near future.

I was already planning on magic items, don't worry.
Thank you, I am feeling a lot of emotions right now, but the hope of restoration is possible. If we do not find those already attempting it.

Heavens tree's will be helpful, as will the power of the Old Gods, they... Anger made the Old Gods into monsters.

If anything was ever going to convince them of the pettiness of their own squabbles this would be it.

We can't direct mortal souls here, there would not be any point. No safety. It will have to be... a fortress. A city it can be as well, but it needs to be a fortress.

The mounting heavens were one originally.

Why is that we always say that LN is the best alignment, yet we feel like shit each time we make someone stop being good?

Someone collect Yrael's tears. Promise to use them some day to fix this place.

I feel bad. I can't even imagine Asmodeus himself not feeling bad about this.

Problem is the task is not just daunting it's impossible, you have chosen to rule, that they aren't lying when they say the Lower planes is infinite, which mean no amount of building will ever match them, we can build a huge realm, we can expand our realm until we have a billion billion subjects, and before infinity, our comparative might will still be functionally zero.

In normal D&D this is somewhat made up for, by the fact that this is true for the Upper Planes as well as the Lower, letting them keep each other in check, but here the infinite Upper Planes were somehow destroyed, we might be able to rebuild some of them, but we can't build an infinite Plane, no matter how strong we get we are a finite existence, so unless you conveniently rule, that there's a way to cause an infinite restoration effect, the only way for Evil to not be infinitely more powerful than Good, is to devastate Evil as much as Good is, no matter what the cost is.

Should we make this a holiday? The closeness to memorial day is rather depressingly fitting.

Do we tell people? What do we tell people happened to Yrael?

What about the Archons who follow him?

Will they still do so? Happily? Do they know what happened here?

Rebuilding a plane is not like rebuilding a wall, brick by brick until you get to the last one, there's a tipping point where it becomes something else.

The Archons will be deeply saddened, but I don't think they'd stop following him. He's done too much for them, and at the end of the day they're not going to stop caring about him.

Lya is going to have her work cut out for her. How does one rebuild an entire plane to its former glory? How does one call back the scattered souls?

@Azel, @DragonParadox, this was a very powerful chapter. Very nice bit of storytelling, a culmination of years of speculation and worry among the thread. I expected Heaven to be in bad shape, but damn, ya'll really illustrated just how utterly devastated the Plane has become. Damn...

[X] Crake

We need to investigate the other Celestial Planes, ya'll. Mount Celestia is only one of several. Others might be in a similar state, or maybe they're still holding on?

  1. The archons will follow Yrael, though they will sorrow it will be with him not because of him
  2. Most of them know, with those who were called haveing likely seen it with their own eyes

Elysium for one thing. I'm actually really confused. We met one guy from Elysium and he didn't say a word about this. Was he also in denial?
