Yep. Once the 10th month rolls around, we'll have him on the schedule for a full upgearing.

Just went back and counted. Next month we're hearing up 25 NPCs either from scratch, or near enough that it might as well be. It's nice to be able to equip our people so well, especially considering how gear poor we were for the first couple years.
I'm still hoping for more free room for strategic weaponry.

You just found real-life Vee. Awesome.
...I actually had the same thought.

...Alright, I have one more idea, then :o:
@Crake, what about adding to the shows we start airing next month by having Vee do tele-courses on caring about one's pets/animals?
The video there actually seems an almost perfect example of how Vee would be doing such a thing :V

EDIT: Partially Crake'd. What a ninja day.

I would rather introduce shows in trios at most, since I think it will take some time to really get the ball rolling (investments into the Company, increasing both size and profitability, essentially, which essentially just means working out advertisement deals). That and finding the talent for all of those shows as well as the research could seriously get bogged down. That's the real bottleneck, you have to find writers (playwrights), actors (mummers) and you have to do a bunch of other stuff, and we also need to work out recording magi-tech devices.

Granted magic for editing footage is probably way more convenient than real technology, so post-production should be rather straight forward (we can include all of the special effects in the first takes).

I think we already have at least eight suggestions though. What I can say is this, the best way to handle it is to just add three more productions to the air every three months, then dump some money on a full-action to expand the size and scope of the Company to account for the investment required.

We also need to have Xor in one show there, as part of his job as Minister of Culture.

the crime was slavery - and it seems like Jorah did this without prompting. He could have said "No", you know: she has no rights, no income and no influence
She could have been disgusted with the slavery instead of disappointed in the lack of profits too you know.

She had influence, whether it was her "fault" he wasn't a slaver before her so it's a bit much to say she had zero influence.

There are plenty of canon examples of characters being responsible for a whole lot just with a well placed complaint or out loud musing.

Keep in mind that those particular accouterments are what she brought with her, not something she bought in Myr. One could make the argument for selling them except it would be a net loss of value.

That and well 'the high life' is her sole remaining source of joy. Is it healthy hell no but it's not near as contemptible in Viserys' eyes as what Jorah did because he was the one to betray his oaths as a lord.

Also (OOC) keep in mind what happens in canon, she does leave him.

Proceeds of a heinous crime.

She is useful. Her guilt or character are entirely unimportant. She could be a Cersei clone for all I could care and the only difference for me would be the need for having her room padded and all sharp objects removed.

In this case, I don't think she did more than passive-aggressively whine at Jorah about everything she was missing out on, thereby encouraging him to sell men into slavery.

She's probably a spoiled, overly entitled bitch, but she's also serves as a really convenient in with her brother.

I get the politics but Viserys has the "enlightened" view of women as capable and both having and deserving of personal agency even in environments and cultures where nominally they don't, doesn't work so well if they can't be guilty in the same environment.

Maybe it was the lack of in text Sense Motive result on the below as to me it came across as generic self serving blame shifting, especially considering the speculation that it was potentially a more ongoing practice than the two poachers he was caught over, hard to believe she didn't know but it read like Viserys did believe her at face value.

Then your break the law get yourself exiled from the only thing you had that made my father even consider you for a match and expect me to feel grateful for being dragged along as your bed-warmer!"

His wife ignores him, addressing you directly: "Much as it pains me to make so gauche and hurried offer of a. Your Grace, I wish to present my services to your court, both for the skills I learned in my youth and to speak on your behalf to my brother Baelor."

Jorah may be a tool but Lynesse obviously didn't learn temperance, apparently happy to continue living the high life with him despite how horrible he is.

Are we saying she has no guilt because she had no agency as a Western Lady. Are all westerosi ladies innocent of their houses crimes?

Lol Jorah was the same in Canon too. Seriously even without Lynesse he's wandering around in penniless exile with a couple of books around. By ASOIAF standards books are still 100% a pure luxury item. So he's like that guy who complains about child support draining him dry while putting a down payment for another top model sports car.

In this case, I don't think she did more than passive-aggressively whine at Jorah about everything she was missing out on, thereby encouraging him to sell men into slavery.

Eh even if she's the whiniest bitch in the world I'd still lay the blame on him especially since unlike us it's not like Lynesse could literally force Jorah to do anything. Hell, sometimes I've told my partner to get me something nice, pick up dinner or surprise me with something nice for like a birthday or something. I've never felt the need to preface any of these requests with "please don't rape/murder a waitress or commit other crimes against humanity in the process."

[X] Artemis1992

Curious to see how Oberyn deals with the Fey. I'm interested in their stories too. We've only gotten a few reports from Tyene on how pacify ing this place has gone.

She had influence, whether it was her "fault" he wasn't a slaver before her so it's a bit much to say she had zero influence.
Did she have influence? She lived in a household where everyone except Jorah seemed to dislike her. She'd be seen as an outsider criticizing the place, and the other Mormonts obviously have a very low opinion of her. Therefore I think it's safe to conclude that all her influence comes from manipulating Jorah.
Furthermore, she doesn't seem to have asked him to commit a crime. She was all "give me nice things!" which is very different from "sell people into slavery and make me a penniless exile!"
Therefore, I'm blaming Jorah for this. He held all the cards here, and he took the initiative of becoming a slaver.

EDIT: To be clear, Viserys does think of women as having agency. However he also has the brains to recognize a situation in which they weren't in control of events.
Now I think that marrying this woman was a terrible decision, and that no matter how pretty she is Jorah shouldn't have asked her father for her hand.

It doesn't hurt that in the same set of updates, Viserys notes that he's only half so invested in this business because of calm, cold and direct political calculus involved.

Lynesse is worth something set to working free and clear of all guilt, and when the guilt taken on by this entire debacle is that of slave trafficking it is politically inconvenient to exonerate her of it.

And on the other hand while he views women with personal agency as a good thing, he has reason to believe that she had limited degrees of it. Awareness or not, it was not technically her responsibility under the law to stop Jorah from making certain decisions, and yes, while a Sense Motive result to determine if she was complicit by actively encouraging him to break the law just to meet her demands would be nice and rosy, on the face of it we can tell here somewhat that she was holding a lot back from Jorah, like her own anger and discontent, because he was literally both the anchor dragging her down, and the lifeline keeping her afloat.

She only cut that string away in full when presented with perhaps her last opportunity to get ahead in life.

Finally, while we couldn't give two fucks about Jorah beyond the fact that he can possibly secure us the loyalty of Bear Island as a sacrificial goat, by contrast Lynesse is uninteresting for the "noble lady skills" she brings to the table but extremely intriguing in the possible political connection which might completely erode a possible malus we would have just forcing a meeting onto Lord Baelor. Now the meeting will begin after Lyn has praised Viserys up and down for the nobility and virtue of his rule, regardless of the truth of the matter, because it helps Lyn get ahead in life.

That kind of thing is also something we can appreciate, even if the Mormonts can't. Or won't.

@Deliste Ultimately it boils down to cold-blooded usefulness. Make no mistake, the bitch isn't going to see penny one from me, but if she can get us a political lever in with her brother then she'll get a few throwaway perks.

She can crow about being part of our court all she likes, but she'll soon realize that there is a court and a "court" when it comes to us. The parasites can linger and fawn all they like, but only those who have proven themselves worthy have our ear and the little fuckers know it.

It also doesn't help that our Mom is the one that makes damn sure that is the case and she does it as ruthlessly as we loot enemy strongholds.

She thought she could worm her way in with a pretty face and some flowery words, let's see how she feels after going toe to toe with the Woman that danced in the mad court of our insane father, has the blood of dragons, and was a Queen to boot.

Lynesse, if she manages to actually take a direct hand in socially maneuving our way to securing House Hightower's neutrality, can have a royal fucking stipend and a modest townhouse in a good neighborhood for I care. House Hightower would completely secure the Southern Reach alongside Tarly and Redwyne's vassals and politically connected Houses.

If she can get Baelor to outright bend the knee, I will give her the full ride, that is how pleased I will be. She wants to be a mage? Go study! Go! Have fun! Wants to be a news broadcaster? FINE! WHATEVER! Rhaella doesn't have time for that stuff!

Wants to be a MirrorVision star?!

We have magic for that! She can be a world-class actor! I DON'T CARE!

GET ME BAELOR, LYN!

The membership list would include people like the well known business magnate Garin Drakelis or Oldest Blood noble Malarys Varnor. And, of course, Viserys Targeryen.

Do you really want to plot treason in a sitting room where these three could walk in at any moment, chatting about the weather with a glass of wine in their hands? :V

People do the equivalent all the time, so while I wouldn't, others very much would due to a lack of sufficient paranoia.

Honestly, just getting Jorah condemned and not being tarred with the same brush is a massive win for her. Now she's a widow, she can go back to living with daddy and be rich again.
Of course if she wants to live at court she can probably get daddy to fund her. Therefore once we turn Baelor, I expect her to start playing social games not to her personal advantage but back to the advantage of her house (because once again those two things should be synonymous).

Pretty much. I want House HighTower. We want House HighTower. If we get them we get the most powerful lord (one of) in the region and we get an ally close to the Citadel. You know about the raid on the Citadel that we all want to do? We can do it. With HighTower as a base and our Inquisition infiltrating the city we can utterly gut the Citadel before the war even begins. So tolerating a spoilt rich girl for all of this? This is a fucking bargain sale.

Jorah. Jero is the badass Night's Watch commander who takes shit from no one.

I would gold plate her fucking privy if she can get me half the things in this list.

Each box and booth could even include a magical "white noise" generator which also activates a hidden audio recorder when used by occupants. There are spells perfect for this.

Plant Spy cast on magical plants throughout the establishment, if we can acquire a mood plant or work in an anti cheating effect then nobody will know what the aura is for even if they see it, alternatively we can put the money in to remove the aura and then there's really no figuring it out and certainly no recovery of the information no matter what we do.

Pretty much couldn't say it better myself. Lynesse delivers her brother and if possible more on her own then she can have the good life she wants and actual power if she earns it. She gets the Hightowers that the southern Reach with us. Hightower, Tarly, Redwyne and Florent are all powerful houses in the Reach we want working for us together.

God more than anything I want to burn the Citadel to the ground. That and study what wards they use. They probably have a ritual casting lore collection bigger than anyone else. Granted we have better casters but it is difficult to make ritual spells with everything that happens to us.

Lya would throw a fit if we burned thousands of years of lore to ashes, even though I kind of really want to. I really want to, because I expect this batch of fucking crooks to be teleporting around conspiring against us for generations if we miss anyone.

I'm still hoping for more free room for strategic weaponry.
On top of all the gear we are making for 25 NPCs in the 9th month, there is over 90,000 IM in enchanting purely for strategic weapons (Moonchaser, Wyverns, Steam Cannons, Beetle Bombs) and another 10,000 for the new Planar Terminus. Viserys and the Companions are also getting a lot of very expensive upgrades.

There will be much more room for strategic expenses in the 10th month. I don't expect us to need to make gear for more than a handful of NPCs since we're taking care of most of them next month and Viserys/Companion upgrades shouldn't be nearly so much (hard to estimate, but likely no more than half).

On top of completing the Moonchaser during the 10th month, which will cost another 50,000 in enchanting, we should be able to enchant at least three more Wyverns (12,870 IM each), at least three more Heralds (6,000 IM each), finish the steam cannon defenses for the Valyrian Dragon habitat (5,575 IM), and at least 100 Beetle Bombs (250 IM each). That alone is 137,185 IM.

Barring unforeseen issues, I don't see why we couldn't end up spending at least 200,000 IM on strategic crafting. I would include several more MirrorVision mirrors in that (2,880 IM each) as well.

I mean of course we will copy it first. We aren't savages. This isn't the Library of Alexandria (fucking Rome and Ottoman Empire. fuck you guys). We will copy everything then burn it to the ground...or use it. It is a big building. We can probably use it for something.
