I would rather use Profession (Pilot) for both as Ride looks... really weird....
Fair enough, though I still think Ride mechanics provide good DCs for actions.

I would suggest making your own version of the ride table for the ships still.I would rather use Profession (Pilot) for both as Ride looks... really weird....
The stars are evil. Mainly because ASOIAF is a Lovecraft-inspired setting.
Ride is the skill used to get a transportation device to do what you want. At least small ones where personal skill has direct impact.I would rather use Profession (Pilot) for both as Ride looks... really weird....
If you dig deep enough you'll enter the Underdark. To be fair, what thing isn't evil in ASOIAF?
We got the Others in the North, the Shadow in the East, Deathworld Sothoryos in the South, nothing ever comes back form the WesternSunset Sea, the oceans are somewhat evil too because the Drowned God, Valyrians were evil to the core, and the only god with enough power seems to be "EVERYONE IS MY SLAVE" Burny.

My point was mainly that if any of our magelings go and get themselves patrons, we should make sure it isn't just a surprise!eldritch or fiend in disguise. Otherwise we have prime grounds for a cult.
Flying Circus does a pretty great job at this, and it is designed from the ground up to handle fighter combat. It probably isn't the easiest system to graft onto D&D, but it might be a thing to look at for air combat since you are also talking about battletech, which is at its weakest there.I would strongly advise you to resolve these things narratively. Vehicular combat is one of those things that never works out terribly well in a Pen & Paper.
*commiseration intensifies*I... seriously... whatever...
I've invested so much time and effort into this and every time I bring it up, one or two selected people will start prodding holes at everything in what amounts to heckling by now.
This is a role-playing game for fucks sake. You don't need 100% rule coverage for absolutely everything you will ever do. That's the point.
I'm not writing a book on yet another system, just because a few people can't stomach the idea of *gasp* the DM deciding things.

He wasn't referring to you ...I'm fine with abstracting things too,
I thought you wanted more detail too. It was never my intention to make you feel like you have to put in even more work on top of everything you did so far.
Sorry for the miscommunication.
Not directly no, but as the GM the final ruling on mechanics is ultimately mine. I wanted to make it clear I in no way require extra complexity here.
It's alright. I'm just really, really burned out about all of this by now, given the sheer number of arguments I've had over it.@Azel I apologize I thought you were looking for suggestions for a more detailed system as well...
Hmm, should we include a +5 Competence bonus item for Profession(Pilot) with the gear for our fighter pilots? It would only cost 250 IM. Or a +10 for 1000 IM?I would rather use Profession (Pilot) for both as Ride looks... really weird....

That's neat. Thoughts, @Azel?Fluff it as a flight control system? Maybe tie it to the Sight Enhancer enchantment so that it actually shows a person information on their screen like modern fighter craft, like distance to target, altitude, flight speed, etc.
OK looking at the winning vote I think we are heading into another multiple update exposition, though hopefully just 2-3 updates this time.
Now that the fighters are nearing completion, we need to start screening our people for suitable skills, talent, and attributes necessary to be pilots.
The fighters will be air worthy at the end of the month. After that they will just need the finishing touches to make them combat viable. @DragonParadox, assuming we already located a pool of potential pilots with high Dexterity, good spacial awareness, no fear of heights, etc., how much would you let them retrain during next month to gain the Profession(Pilot) skill?
What other skills would they need, y'all? Knowledge (Geography), Survival, etc?
