[X] Correct her on your list of crimes, she forgot the best parts.
-[x] explain to her the various acts of magic her daughter has achieved under out tutlige. Compare it to her vastly inferior backwater magic and point out that Louise can actually cast now. The fact the she wishes to send her daughter back to a place she could achieve nothing speaks volumes of her character.
[X] Ignore her and start follow Quelana

But we said sorry!

Mmm.

Shouldn't kill her that would make Louise practically intractable.

Don't really wanna start a fight either. I believe she is capable of leveling buildings single handedly. And we're low on Mana.

Give me a bit...

...Louise has a scroll of Recall she didn't use.

Good luck taking her back and keeping her, Karin. :V

I don't even want to argue.

Anyone else curious what we can do with a Lordsoul? The possibilities...

I have no willingness to try to show her we are a good teacher. If she failed to see so, she is willfully blind and thus talking is a loss of time.

There is pretty much no good way to talk to karin, she hate us (or at least dislike us) so much that anything we do besides submitting to her authority isn't going to be enough and that is something that won't happen anytime soon so I'm going for the vote that sound funnier/more interesting

Alright im back...

Looks like were in for a fight then. That's fine though I'm sure Cynric is paranoid enough to have a paralysis on quick draw.

I still want to write this though, if for no other reason than because she left so many openings.

[ ] Are you a... warrior? I got the impression you were a mage, but you seem like a sword first kind of person.
-[ ] I would quite like to hear your daughters opinion before I respond. She has faced down dozens of soldiers, your worlds hick magicians, monsters, and demons all without so much as hesitating. But here she does. Speak your piece apprentice it is your future, and none but you will truly have your best interests at heart.
-[ ] Let Louise explain herself
-[ ] If her mother goes to interrupt her stop her.
-[ ] When she is done.
-[ ] You have made several insulting comments about me, my parentage, my apprenticeship with your daughter, and on top of that threatened my very life.
-[ ] I would do my duty and slay you, but I will not. Because seeing us try to butcher each other would affect Louise quite badly. Something you do not seem to grasp, or care about.
-[ ] Allow me to explain my reasons for teaching your daughter
-[ ] She has learned in weeks or days what most mages learn in months.
-[ ]On top of that, something that should be obvious to even a half trained spell caster, but has apparently slipped by both you, and her... I wont call them teachers, because they abjectly failed to teach her anything in her time there.
-[ ] Her sheer, raw, power.
-[ ] She has over twenty times as much magicka as I a trained mage do.
-[ ] Power that is wasted, because her entire life she has been told that she is worthless, and a failure.
-[ ] If she is willing and able to learn all that I have to teach her she will undoubtedly become the most powerful spell caster your world has ever seen.
-[ ] You want to send her back to that 'academy', not because its safer, or because it will help her reach her full potential, or even to learn magic, but because it is proper. A school where her talents are squandered, if not actively suppressed, and where she is belittled constantly.
-[ ] Maybe I will teach there, later, if I want to. Certainly not because a stone faced woman shouted at and threatened me.
-[ ] You are quite welcome by the way, for healing your daughter, as well as teaching your other daughter to actually use her phenomenal magical ability. If I have incurred that much property damage I am sure that you can sell the magical and incredibly valuable alchemical ingredients growing in your yard. To say nothing of the portal to an alien world filled with wholly unique plants, animals, cultures, medical techniques, and styles of magic.
-[ ]sarcasm* Thank you for your time Lady Vallière
-[ ] Ignore her and start follow Quelana
-[ ] Turn around real quick and say "oh and before I forget."
--[ ] It was pretty bold of you to call me a pedophile while planning to pimp your daughter to a nobleman for political favor.
--[ ] Go find Quelana and ask her about the other spider.

All right I think thats everything. I might have missed some stuff but I think I got most of it.

[jk] Also you smell.

Edit: I did forget something actually
-[ ]sarcasm* Thank you for your time Lady Vallière

Oh yeah sure. The hard decisions about how to do combat everyone's like: "Oh lets be nice..." but it falls to me to come up with some kind of plan, and then the moment there's something peaceful and easy to resolve... Cynric blows 900 mana and manages to further piss off the mother of his apprentice. This is why we can't have nice battle plans. Everyone likes using up the mana out of combat :D

I know it likely won't win as other things have been voted on enough already but all the same...

[X] Persuasion Challenge
-[X] Tell Quelana: "If you could wait just a moment, I would like to speak with you after this discussion"
-[X] Tell Louise: "If you wish to remain with me, and continue to learn magic, I would be happy to teach you. We will continue to explore this land, unlock the mysteries of the bonfires," he wiggles his eyebrows (thinking to remind her of how she'd grown herself), "and perhaps learn of the magics of this realm. Then... Well, there are infinite worlds to choose from, and we could set up our little nexus of world-gates in your family estate, so that you can return to visit your parents and sister when you desire to."
-[X] To Louise's Mom: "I shall strive to be nice to you this once despite your disrespect, as you are the mother of my apprentice, but do not try my patience. With some assistance from your daughter, I crushed Londinium beneath my boot heels, and decapitated the fled leadership of the rebellion in Albion. A civil war that likely would have run for years to come, should be easily wrapped up in a matter of months if the noble forces have a halfway competent leader.

"I have broken the barrier between worlds, and can travel between dimensions as I desire. As you can see, this place - Lordran I believe it is called - is far different from the land from whence you hail. Where I come from, elves are revered as masters of magic, and while there is some elven blood in my lineage, I am far more man than mer - and my elven ancestors were far different from the savage elves of your realm.

"The people at your academy spent how long training my apprentice in the ways of magic? How long was she tutored before she arrived at the academy? How successful were those lessons? As you may have heard from your husband and your other daughter, since I met her, which was hardly a long time ago, I have taught her how to use magic successfully - and to use it far more effectively than any of the mages we fought in Londinium or Cheddar.

"Now, I realize that as your daughter she has spent a far longer time looking up to you than she has me, but if you take her back to your home, and send her to the academy, the likely result will be that at best she is forced to continue training in the magic that you people believe to be the only way, and return to blowing everything up... And at worst, she will be shunned, ridiculed, or possibly even executed for the 'heresy' of using magic without a wand - or possibly killed by someone jealous of her abilities. While in schoo

"If you truly think that the academy would be a better place for her to master her magical and martial abilities than with me, I would call you a fool. If you believe that it would be better to sacrifice her own personal strength so that she can marry into a good family and be a good little housewife who can't accomplish anything worthwhile on her own, I would call you a hypocrite. I could continue on with this, but I'll cut it short.

"My apprentice, Louise, is with me voluntarily. If you order her to leave, I expect she will obey you at least temporarily, as you are her mother and she is likely afraid to disobey you. That said, you will almost certainly upset her in doing so, and if you continue to try to restrain her to whoever her betrothed is, or the academy of morons, I suspect that you will earn her resentment. One of the harder things, I'm told, for a parent to do - is to allow their child to spread their wings and do as they desire.

"Let Louise decide what it is she wants to do. Don't tell her what she must do, don't tell her that she'll be punished or that you'll be disappointed or that she should or should not do one thing or another... Simply lay out what her options are... I believe they are:
1) Continuing to travel with me, and learn from me as a master of magic
2) Returning to the academy
3) Marrying her betrothed

"If there's anything else, feel free to mention it... But let her choose, and accept her choice. I suspect that if you do not, you'll find her running away from home once again... Lacking a guardian, this time."

Can we not provoke Karin when we only have 225 Magick left and no Magicka potions? That sounds like Bad End bait.

Honestly, Louise could have oneshot Quelaag from the beginning of the fight, I'm not even trying to screw you guys over in fights or even make it difficult... I'm willing to let you breeze through things if you do it right. Thinking things through helps too, considering the fact you used paralysis on a sprinting 'friendly' in a stone building. Did nobody think that would do anything other than make her slam her face into the floor?

In FoZ and dark souls people can generally shrug of injuries of that level without issue.

Good to know she has baseline human durability though. Really good to know.

I don't recall FOZ having any face-to-floor collisions that weren't comical face faults, but much like game mechanics, anime physics is not in play.

We handled the father. Let Louise handle her mother. This situation doesn't have to devolve into violence and we should not use any sort of mind control (unless there's a dumb fight in front of monsters). If Karin is not forced to set aside her anger, then she will use her anger to justify throwing around any manipulation at her disposal. I don't want Karin to "wait for the time to strike" and lead us on a chase across the multiverse. As our magnificent and vulnerable-to-compliments author said we must think things through. I propose we basically inform her we are guilty of all charges. Apologies, regret, pride, and other such things have no place in this conversation.

Karin has already decided how she feels about us, regardless of our race and origin. Every damn chapter we see more and more proof that Louise is not useless so let's arrange for her to put that charisma and diplomacy to work! And even if there are problems and Louise says things she regrets them she'll mature from the pain instead of retreating to a cold, shell-like facade as she does from violence. So we'll say the bare minimum and do this the smart way by believing in our apprentice.

[X] Plan Desublimation
[X] Correct her on your list of crimes, she forgot the best parts.
-[x] "My actions were not a ploy to earn your ire, build a reputation, or hurt your daughter."
-[x] Put on a neutral tone. Briefly describe conflicts relevant to Karin where Louise was critical to success.
-[x] Open a dialogue about Louise's future. Every party's vision for her. Say as little as possible.

I can't help but feel that telling Karin that we were in any way involved in the werewolf plague, or the necropolis (especially the part where we dragged Louise into that) is basically begging her to murder us.

And we have all of 225 Magicka to defend us with.

We don't know we were involved in werewolf plague ourselves. As far as we know, we just spiked someone's drink and left. What happened to the person and the place afterwards we have no idea about, and neither do we care.

Cynric might be able to put two and two together if he hears about it, but he never did.
