[X] POV Switch: Louise

We seriously need to start instilling in louise the ability to not cause massive problems whenever we look away. It's getting ridiculous and frankly really bloody annoying.

[X] Try to locate the two non-Yang sources of magicka in Vale.

Switching to Louise might've helped if we did it before negotiations... broke down, but now that that ship has sailed there should be little harm in leaving that situation where it is.

In the meantime, magic use is quite relevant to our interests and it behooves us to investigate in case of either opportunity to exploit or threats to neutralize.

Yeah, probably shouldn't ignore Salem any longer than we already have--or even as long as we already have, to be honest. Like, it was fine when she was a distant threat, but now she's right up in our business.

I'm just fed up of things literally exploding every time weve built up and got our position even somewhat safe. It's a recurring problem that damn well sucks
I don't think it's that bad. Like, the main point of the Void Voyager is so that we can keep all our stuff in one place and if the moon explodes again or something we can leave the universe with all our stuff in one piece.

And even then, this is a multiversal journey, no? We've stuck around in Remnant for quite a while, and most of the time our impetus to go explore the next setting is 'the last setting is literally exploding', so as long as Things Blowing Up doesn't deny us our shinies I actually welcome the provocation to go to new places and find more shinies to loot.

And as for right here and now, what Louise just did isn't anywhere on the scale of blowing up the moon. Not just in terms of power output, even if we end up with the SDC baying for our blood and Atlas turning hostile... it's not really that bad? Heck, a worst-case scenario of war breaking out between Atlas and Vale to get at the dastardly Louise would mostly just spice things up, and if things turned sour we can always leave.

To a degree I share the impulse to bunker down, secure our holdings, and watch our resources grow with no unwanted disturbances, but to another larger degree this quest is chaotic by nature and even if we could resist the natural flow of the universe where moons blow up and we explore new worlds for fun and profit, I don't think it would make for a better quest.

That's mostly caused by Plot, our own idiocy, or some combination of the two. The way I see it, it's always a balancing act between making sure plot doesn't explode when we least expect it and doing fun/morally questionable stuff. Louise currently has messed up, enslaving the schnee family, which is bad. However, that means the countdown to Louise doing something stupid has been reset/pushed back, which means that we don't need to worry about Louise for now.

Mostly our own actions. We deliberately caused multiple apocalypses
Debatable. Things weren't quite as deliberate as you're making them out to be.

As far as I can tell, X-Com was an accident: we took out the aliens and had no means of preventing the newly-out-of-control ship from destroying the planet due to a lack of psionics (in fact, if I recall correctly, we actually attempted to summon a psychic Pokémon to save us, and the planet by extension, but they just kicked our ass and left us to our fate instead).

And for Fallout, while I can't speak for everyone who supported my plan to shoot the moon, as the creator of the plan I can say that the intent was never to destroy the moon (and the world with it)--only to put a crater in it. It just turns our that I severely underestimated the strength of the spell, and possibly the mechanics (I can't remember if the spell is "X blows up", or a projectile that explodes on contact; I was banking on the latter at the time, and if it was the latter, then the spell was even stronger than I thought). Fallout was ultimately a tragedy born of oversight rather than willful intent--at least in regards to the origin of the plan. That I found the results of said oversight hilarious doesn't change the fact that it was unintentional.

Now, we have no excuses for Halkeginia. That was 1000% intended; once it was made clear there was nothing to prevent Deadric invasions, there was really only one way things were going to turn out, and people did it anyway. But that's still ultimately only 1 out of 3.

Alas, the ultimate heal spell hitting Fallout lost.

Was that one of the options? Huh. That could have been neat.

Whether it worked as intended or turned everyone into horrific masses of tumours, it could have been a fun ride either way. Salvation, or everyone becomes Deadpool's uglier cousins!

A Grimm Meeting
Abandoning Blake to care for the little girl her former leader had become, you made your way back to Vale to tend to something that had been gnawing at you for a while now. Namely, the two magicka signatures that popped up in Vale with no warning.

Upon initial arrival to Remnant, you'd noticed only nine sources of magicka, four of which were non-living artifacts and one being Ozpin. Seeing Yang's sudden inexplicable ability as likely being the so called 'Maiden' power you've heard mention of, you can surmise that one of the other two Maidens is also in Vale. The other one however... you did not sense it until recently.

If it were a more meager spark or this world not so devoid of magicka, perhaps that could be written off as you not looking hard enough. Since neither of those is the case, you can only assume they were hiding themselves from you. Actually, it would make more sense that they were hiding from what limited sense for detecting magicka that Ozpin might have, given how they have stopped doing so now that he is no longer in Vale.

The concerning part is that the individual in question makes the combined Maidens and Ozpin seem minuscule in comparison. In fact, two out of three of the artifacts are actually larger in raw power than whoever this is. If that wasn't enough to be worth investigating, one of the weaker pair of magical objects has disappeared. Since it was in an obfuscated location in Beacon until earlier that day, you can assume the new arrival has it in their possession.

Arriving at the general location of the person in question only makes matters more concerning as, having emerged from the Vale portal near Kwama Korps, you notice that the two resonances are coming from inside your establishment.

When you make your way through the halls to the employee lounge on the second floor, you find the air so thick with excess magicka that it almost feels as if you are back on the surface of the moon, exposed to the raw power of the sun. Recall ready, Ebonyflesh cast, and wishing you could still use the Dragonskin ability of your old body, you push into the room. What you find is a Grimm-toned woman in elaborate dress and the two Dallon girls gathered on a couch.

"Come in, come in." The woman says, a note of interest in her voice as she takes off a black and gold crown to set it on the table. It seems to thrum with power. "I've heard a number of good things about you, Cynric Tyne. I do so hope you live up to expectations."

Doing as told, you mask your wariness and approach to sit opposite her. "That would make two of us, though I cannot say the same is true in reverse."

"No... I would be more surprised if you could. Ozma always did have it in his head that he knew what was best for everyone, even in regards to who deserved to know what. I can see you have questions, feel free to ask what you wish. We can get to the heart of matters in due time."

[] Ask about the crown.

[] Ozma?

[] You're more interested in the woman herself than any topic she might illuminate. Who and what is she to be so obscenely powerful? Whatever it is, you desire it for yourself. Is it replicable?

[] Address what happened to Amy. How did she get the magic you can sense in her and is it related to Yang's newfound power?

[] Cast Silence on her, grab the crown, and Recall out.

[] Write in.

A/N: FYI, if you guys had waited to unlock your Aura and had Salem do it, assuming you manage an alliance, it would have started out stronger thanks to her experience and power.

Here's to hoping Cynric finds a way to word this that appears to be flirting...

Best to fully realize the potential of Maidens and add more reasons to keep team RWBY, though Weiss is probably more familiar than person now.

Multiple options can be chosen, though her patience isn't infinite. The subjects with the most support will obviously trump the others

This is the most Cynric option on the list, I feel. The thievery option is Cynric in another way but he wouldn't be so foolish as to provoke someone of her level of power.

Well he totally would...but only if he was reasonably sure he could win.

Damn it. Truly we have failed to select a battlefield playing to our strengths.

This is a Kwama Korp backroom! Not a romantic 5-stsr restaurant! How have we gotten so sloppy?

Ask about the crown.

Viable, she might appreciate being complimented on her outfit, but I'm afraid it might only make us look greedy. Pass.

Hard pass. Let's not talk abiut her ex first chance we get.

There we go. Let's take it nice and slow, get to know her, make her laugh, know her interests and hobbies.

How rude.

[X] Address what happened to Amy. How did she get the magic you can sense in her and is it related to Yang's newfound power?

I'm mostly interested in recruiting Amy for apprenticeship and surviving this conversation, since I don't expect attempting to replicate her source of powers to be benign.

First things first. Someone whose very existence Ozpin tried to hide, someone with power beyond what seems plausible to us, we have to know! I only hope Cynric can keep a lid on that "I want it" sentiment, or Salem gains a whole set of levers ...
