Well you aren't her familiar, the Headless Saito is... and she's also her own familiar.

Edit: Vote locked. It's still a tie, so you are kidnapping Louise as a compromise.

A child with so much raw talent should have one-on-one lessons to maximize results, not thrown into classes with every untalented naive that comes in off the street. Only one thing for it then, seeing as it would be a shame to let so much potential go to waste.

Gathering up your notes and tucking them into your belt, you smile and pat your soon-to-be apprentice on the head. Using Calm, touch based to reduce it's cost of course, you make sure the girl won't be upset by your next action. A well placed Ash Shell, you knock Colbert into Osmond and encase them in an unbreakable shell of ash as the name implies.

Ignoring the muffled indignant cries, you hoist the child up into your free arm and point your staff at the broken window. Five minutes later, the two of you touch down at a forested riverside one hundred Nordic miles (or 250 Imperial miles, because everything is bigger in Skyrim) away. You decide to make camp and let the girl get cleaned up before heading into the nearby village.

Speaking of getting clean, you could do with a wash as well. You'll do it when Pendant gets done. Starting a fire is a simple matter, such a minor amount of magicka is used to make embers that you don't really feel a drain. Food would be good, but you shouldn't leave a Calmed child alone in the woods. It should wear off in a few minutes and you could always barter for a meal when you go to town in the morning. Hmm... you've never tried before, but you might be able to fry chaurus eggs like bird eggs... nah, better save those to raise for more or make potions.

Oh, the girl's done... and pointing a twig at you. That's her wand... Looks like the spell has worn off.

you don't have food at the moment, hence going to the nearby town in the morning. unless you mean convince her to let you carry her as you fly the last few miles into town so you can have a meal.

[x] Placate her with words and explain her new apprenticeship
-[x] Except you don't know their words all that well. Then you suppose you'll have to draw!
-[x] Draw a serie of masters and apprentices, each growing more terribly powerful than the previous one, culminating with her.
-[x] Wasn't she envious of seeing others fly? Draw her flying so high up in the sky that others are like insects beneath her!

Don't know the setting or the character or what her deal is, don't care! She will become beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night, stronger than the foundations of the earth!

Unless, of course, she wants nothing to do with us. But surely that can not be!

Pinkie takes a deep breath, probably to scream and cry like the child she is. You really don't want to deal with that... or whatever spells she might know. You hold up your hand to silence her before she can get started and she lowers her wand by reflex, obviously she's been taught to respect her elders, allowing you to pluck it from her hand before she does something she will regret.

"Easy child, you wouldn't want to hurt your new teacher would you?" You say with humor, as if a mere child could defeat you in a duel. She attempts to translate your words, but it seems she doesn't have the vocabulary to parse it and tilts her head in confusion. Of course it wouldn't be that easy, you didn't get nearly as far into bridging the gap between the local dialect and a more familiar one.

Sighing, you gesture for her to come closer. She obeys, but keeps a wary eye on you as you drop to a kneeling position and start to trace lines into the dirt with her stick. Every good mage knows how to sketch a decent picture, it is necessary for making diagrams and recording new discoveries after all.

A few minutes later and you hand the girl her wand back and smile at her confused frown as she takes a moment to understand your message. It depicts yourself throwing a fireball, encouraging her, her throwing a fireball, the same for several spells with visible effects, and finish with the two of you levitating high above a city full of people with a beaming smile on her face.

You can see as her hope rises and she looks up at you questioningly. You nod and tears start to form in her eyes before she wipes them away and adopts a serious expression. She starts to say something before she stops, realizing that you wont properly understand. She frowns, but you wave her off and point at her soaked clothing and then toward the fire. She understands and sits by the flames as you head through the bushes.

After bathing and cleaning your robes you-

Now that you're clean, you decide to that now is as good a time as any to start on a permanent solution to this whole communication issue. Now where to find a small woodland creature to help you solve your problem. Well, waiting by the water seems like a better idea than wandering further from camp.

------

Having successfully ripped the soul from a cute little fox, you skin and gut it before heading back to your bonfire.

When you return, you see the pink one sleeping with a smile on her face next to her own addition to your dirt picture of her levitating. Oh, she doodled the others kids from her school. Burning... and some of the females missing their breasts... Well, at least she's enthusiastic about learning.

You lean against a nearby tree and drift off to sleep.

-------

The next morning, you are woken up by the sound of grumbling and rustling. You rub your eyes and look around, spotting your new apprentice scurrying off into the bushes toward the river.

You pick up your gear and once she gets back, you ignore her kicks and punches as you pick her up and fly to the village in the distance.

Language first, otherwise we won't be able to tell very easily if she's double crossing us in her letter.

Landing at the outskirts of town, you take in your surroundings as the girl adjusts her little cloak and skirt. Three tower are visible above the rooftops and it might just be the viewing angle, but at only one has a visible purpose as a bell tower. The shops and homes spread out more the further they are from the towers, with farmhouses scattered about the fields. You can see mountains on the other side of town and estimate them to be about half a day's ride to their base. You thank Magnus for Levitation as you remember the one time you rode a horse in your youth, nearly dying when it bucked you off the edge of a gorge in the reach.

Absently rubbing where your neck had broken, you get back to the task at hand. You motion to the child at your side to follow, setting off into town in search of something to enchant for your conversational needs.

The village is about the size of Whiterun, with people watching warily as you pass. Ignoring the standard distrust of outsiders, you follow an elderly man who is pushing a cart loaded with cabbages. Eventually you arrive in an open market to see stalls of vegetables, meat, and baubles of many kinds. Men in armor are arguing with irate merchants and loading a wagon with food. You push through the soldiers, ignoring their shouts as your apprentice takes it upon herself to look imperious and chastise them for blocking the street.

It takes you a few hours to find what you need among all the useless junk, but by noon you have found a brass wrist bracelet that is big enough to carve the needed runes onto. The stall-keeper looks pleased by your selection, but that changes when you hold up your fox pelt. You gather from his rambling that the bracelet is an ancient treasure of her family, which you highly doubt, seeing as how it was on sale next to an old pointed hat and a basket of cracked clay dolls. Tossing the pelt in her face, you stride off, finding your apprentice sitting on a crate next to the soldier's wagon as she eats an apple.

Taking one of the soldier's daggers, waving off his grumbling, you sit beside the pinkette and begin carving.

----------

Three hours and twelve apples later, you have finished. The Bracelet is now absolutely packed with runes, from Deadric to Aldmeri and everything in between that you could fit. You never like those crutches they call enchanting tables that had become so popular across the Empire. A true enchanter should take the time to learn what they are doing and why, not rely on a fancy piece of furniture to patch their work into a stable spell pattern.

Snapping the bracelet on, the you are momentarily deafened by a sharp pinging noise before-

"-he last time, tribute to your lord is not nego-" A soldier barks at somebody.

The cabbage man shouts "-nly one écu! Why it's practice-ily a stea-"

"-e stole my family heirloom and you do nothing! Why do we pay tribute if our lord's men don't protect us?!" Oh, the stall lady is yelling at the guards, who are looking nervously at you and the pink girl. You should probably ask her name now.

You wave to the guards and call out to the stall-keeper in a jovial tone, "Am I to assume that same status applies to the rest of the broken junk in your inventory as well?" She makes to reply, by you ignore the woman and address the child at your side.

"Now that I have taken care of that pesky language barrier, allow me to introduce myself. Cynric Tyne; sworn enemy of the Psijic Order, Grand Sorcerer of The Reach and the last true Master Enchanter of Tamriel." You offer grandly, any of your countrymen would back up your claim... the ones who knew what they were talking about anyway.

The announcement of your titles, self proclaimed or not, has a visible effect on those around you. It is rather impressive sounding, which is what you were aiming for. A few soldiers unconsciously back away, the would-be swindler pales noticeably before retreating to her stall, and the pink girl is stares up at you in awe. Smiling kindly, you gesture to her before the moment can drag itself into the realm of awkwardness pauses. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself little one?"

She scowls at that, but the embarrassed blush ruins what little effect it might have had. "My name is Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière, of the Noble house of Vallière." Noticing your lack of recognition, she presses on. "Daughter of Duchess Karin Désirée of Tristain." Still not recognizing the names for obvious reasons, you motion for her to continue... This causes her to pull on her hair and growl out, "Karin 'The Heavy Wind' Vallière, Hero of the Tristainian Army?!"

"Those are certainly impressive sounding, does that make my little apprentice royalty?" You ask, derailing her train of thought before she gets too frustrated.

Louise starts at that and begins to ramble. "Apprentice? You're serious?! I thought you were joking and I was going to be ransomed off to the princess or something... But you're serious! Not even my mother can fly as fast as you without a dragon, you must be extremely powerful... of course you are, you can't be called 'Grand Sorcerer' and be weak... and you're going to teach me?" Suddenly her mind latches onto one word you said keep repeating and she glares up at you "How dare you call me little, I'll have you know that I will soon be an adult!"

"Of course, just a tiny misunderstanding, I assure you." You laugh and pat her head as she pouts. "Now, If I am to be molding you into the most powerful mage in in the history of this world, I will need to know your current capabilities."

The girl visibly deflates at your words, you didn't think it was possible for her to make herself seem even smaller, but she did. "Of course... you only chose me because you didn't know."

"I do not, that would be why I am asking now." You agree.

"I knew it was too good to be true, nobody would willing choose to teach 'The Zero'." She murmurs to herself and declares with force, "I don't need your help anyway."

You watch in confusion as Louise tears up and runs off.
