Seeds Of Doubt
"I... suppose I could look past this outburst of his. After all, I do know how it feels to lose family. It was what started me on this path, you know." You tell her after a few moments consideration.

"I-I didn't... but you understand then, right?" Hinata asks. "You'll help bring back Akamaru?"

Removing yourself from her grasp, you step back toward the trapped lich. "Pay attention, children! If I am to help you with this, I expect you to be more respectful. My very own apprentice has yet to reach this level in her training, so you had better understand just how much of a risk I am taking with teaching this to you."

"You mean because of how dangerous the technique is?" Hinata questions as she helps the still panicking Kiba stand after his time in the Circle.

"No." You reply with a scoff, as if you care what happens to the boy due to his own stupidity. "Well, not entirely... Louise might find out and I refuse to be responsible for how she reacts."

Unsurprisingly, the two of them are completely underwhelmed by the seriousness of your statement. Nevertheless, you toss them each one of your only two magicka potions. Whatever power he once had is all but lost with his resurrection. If you're going to teach him how to bring back his mangy hound, he will first need to learn how to harness his pure magicka rather than the energy amalgamation the trio of ninjas use.

Slowly draining both of them of their magicka, you lecture, "This is likely a very different school of thought to what your own people teach, but it is up to you to make up for the handicap brought about by your training. Focus on the feeling you get as your magicka leaves your body. That energy is what you must learn to control if you are to learn magic and you must promise never cast this type of spell unless I am around, lest you endanger entire worlds."

"You're kidding!"

Shaking your head at the fact that the boy is already losing control of his tongue, you reply, "I most certainly am not, this is an extraordinarily dangerous school of magic and I expect to be properly compensated for taking these risks. Now activate your eyes, Hinata, and watch how I use my own magicka to cast this spell. I do not have time to teach the two of you any in-depth lessons on magic, so we will be relying on your bloodline to see you through this."

Saying such, you proceed to cast the conjure a shade from this world's dead. As the ghost coalesces with a rather ghastly hole in his chest, you continue, "Drink your potion and begin mastering your control of your magicka, boy. Since Hinata has a natural advantage over you, I will be speaking with her in private while you work."

Leaving Kiba to puzzle through his task, you lead the girl a fair distance into the forest surrounding the outpost before motioning for her to sit down beside you. Doing so a bit hesitantly, she takes what appears to be a meditative pose and says, "A-ano... Thank you for agreeing to help... Louise always speaks highly of you."

"Does she?" You ask in reply, though you already knew that with how fiercely loyal she's been in the past. Still, it is strangely comforting to hear the words... Even if such sentiment is largely irrelevant. "Well, that is good to know. I must admit that I did not want to teach this to your teammate. Conjuration is the most dangerous school among the more common branches of magic and Kiba is... not the most trustworthy."

"What do you mean? Kiba-"

"Is an impulsive fool who endangers the lives of everyone around him whenever he is given the opportunity." You cut her off. "Not only is he arrogant, abrasive, and one who uses threats of violence to get his way, he does not care for the lives of others he puts at risk. Do you know what happened on the mission that got him killed? He was supposed to be scouting a bandit camp and nearly got Trobror killed by being too overconfident. Do you think he would have even considered a better way to approach me had I been a more vengeful man?"

Shaking her head in denial, Hinata demands, "Why are you telling me these terrible things?"

"Because you are a good kid, Hinata. It would be a tragedy if that boy killed you in his arrogance."

"That won't happen!" She argues, though you can see that she doesn't fully believe her own words. Her resolve has always been weak and even the experiences of late haven't changed that enough to stand against you when it counts. "We're a team, he would never hurt Shino or I!"

"Oh, I know it would not be an act of malice... but recklessness and stupidity cost more lives that even the most evil among mortal ken. Between Kiba's foolheadedness and Shino's general indifference to social norms, it is only a matter of time before you are dragged into a situation that you cannot survive."

Trembling a little, the girl whispers, "W-w-what are you s-saying?"

"I know the three of you were placed on a team by your superiors, but problems like this go more and more unnoticed the further away from the situation the decision makers are. It is impossible for a commander to place every one of their troops where they will be their best and sometimes a perceived weakling will be sacrificed to round out a group where they do not belong. I would prefer that you separate yourself from them for your own safety and my peace of mind, but... at least promise me that you will be careful and do not blind yourself to the faults in those boys because of sentiment." You tell her, standing to leave before giving her a sad look.

"You will always have a place with Louise and I if you need it."

It'd be safer to get rid of Vista...but I want Cynric to leave the Wormverse anyway.

First of all why drag her into the woods or into town, where her body will be found when we have an army of zombies back at base... It is almost like the gm is trying to sabotage us with at least one option every turn...(as in an option that will lead to long term consequences)

So can someone tell me why they wanted to turn Hinata against her team, like was there a specific reason or just because....

No idea why they did that? I guess they see that Hinata has potential and think her team is holding her back?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ To separate her from the others to make her more easily influenced by the likes of Cynric and Trobror? To spite the child that dared attempt to threaten Cynric? For teh lulz?

Probably the first and the third in all honesty.

Perhaps both for fun because it's interesting, and also seriously for her own safety? I mean while Hinata seems like a smart and skilled good girl, the teammates she have aren't exactly the best with go with. Kiba for one already got himself killed, so who knows if he could drag her down with his emotionally affected decision making? No opinions on Shino though.

Wait how is dragging her into the woods safer when someone could then find her body in the woods... Without adding a part about actually hiding or disposing of it in some way we would probably literally drag her into the woods and leave the body there... With Hinatas eyes that can see kilometers unless Cynric has become ripped without us noticing he is not going to leave her range... Thats why I changed mine from this to a write-in about disposing of the body with zombies...

Hinata can see kilometers toward the end of Shippuden after years of training for it. At her current pre-Oto invasion level, she can see 50 meters at best or the length of a football field. Also, Cynric isn't so dumb as to leave an unburied body of a high profile individual just lying around to be discovered.

Wow it has been so long since the original Naruto...

That was beautiful. It was everything I wanted it to be and more.

I love how effortlessly Cynric just ruins people. Often for no reason at all (or for very minor gains).:lol:rofl:

Why I voted to seed doubt in Hinata is cause she's Louises shadow. The less ties she has to her former life the easier it is to justify the new one. Not to mention there's a high likelyhood to Cyn or by random chance for them to become collateral.
And if things go well enough, she might decide that she likes Louise more than returning, forever more her shadow.

Just as planned.

Tho dropping her and her crew off at narutos world is fine too. Remove a chance at betrayal. The weakest link in the chain will break. To remove weakness or to replace the link before it can break.

Some people here are like Sheev Palpatine...

And others are more the Lord Frieza type.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised nobody has added a write in of rescuing Trobror... then again, he does have a mission to fulfill.

Eh, no need to dispose of the body yet. We don't know how much she remembers after the shards wiped her.
Confirm value before disappearing them

People say you should do what you love. Obviously nobody should have ever told this to Cynric, but here we are.

So the general consensus I'm getting is that you guys want to science(!) with Moira and also get rid of Vista, since even half of those that chose studying with Moira also wanted to feed Vista to zombies. Is that correct?

I'm more curious to find out what was done to vista in that space rather than dispose of her. Is she still normal? But I suppose getting rid of her would be the safest option.

[x] Join Moira in her studies.
-[X] Perform a medical checkup on vista.

Unless that has already been determined and she's still her old self.

Letting her go wouldn't be too much of a hassle, right?

I wanna see Hinata firmly on Team Cynric, but we can't get her as a party member while she's firmly a member of Team 8. Nothing against Team 8, but nothing really for them either; Shino's been basically a non-entity since he was summoned, and Kiba wasn't much better until he died (though I think it'd be great if Team 8 is returned to the Forest of Death one day and Necromancer!Kiba dominates the Chunin Exams and ruins Orochimaru's plans and/or life). A Naruto-type ninja is a tremendous asset, plus I really liked her interactions with Louise so far. I think it'd be great fun to teach her magic and power her up as we travel different worlds, plus there's always the benefit of having a friendly person in a position of power. Hinata for Hokage, 2020!

Kiba for one already got himself killed

To be fair to Kiba, he got killed because we lost control of a phoenix at an inopportune time.

The tiny mammal never got to answer, his words interrupted when the crimson and gold bird that accompanied them disappeared in a gout of flames. The whelp barely managed a confused tilt of his head when a missile came flying up out of the quarry and detonated against one of the large stones they had been using to avoid being skylined. The shockwave washed over Trobror's armor and caused his shields to overload, carrying enough force to knock him over with the bleedthrough. The little pyjack and his pup? Not so lucky.

I don't think there's any benefit to keeping a hold of Vista any longer, but I'm not confident about going out to dispose of her with zero magicka in the tank. I don't think taking a nap will gain much traction at this stage, so:

[x] Join Moira in her studies.

Never such a thing as too much data. Plus Louise should be around in case we need to top off the tank. Also we should get our stories straight. I don't want to kill Vista, I'm more of a fan of applying alcohol and blunt force trauma to her and leaving her in Empire territory. We already know what those E88 cretins were willing to do to (apparent) children, so when the PRT finds her, they can fill in the blanks about her state and Dennis being missing. Not a plan with great odds for Vista, but it'd be terribly inconvenient for her to start spouting off about Clockblocker's mishap. Even if she does unfortunately remember, Cynric and company will have buggered off to RWBY or some other world and Leviathan will bring bigger problems for the heroes to focus on.

Actually, how much of CB is left? If there's a body, we can fix it up the same way we did Tsun (sans bonus arms) and everyone can truthfully say that the last they saw of the pair was CB walking a stumbling Vista out of the compound, with Cynric waving goodbye. Then Cynric sneaks out and arranges the scene to pin the blame on everyone's favorite scapegoats: Nazis. Bonus, an ambulatory Clockblocker escorting a dazed Vista should cast doubt on her memories, should she remember Dennis' head going kablooie.

Man, nearly any other parahuman we could have got our mitts on would have been better to risk on that bit of science than a Ward. Oh, hindsight.
