Could we get some Fey mercenaries for the Deep? We are in a very good relationship with the Orphene Court and I do want to add more protection to the Deep while also negotiating to see if they could swear loyalty to us like our other Fey vassals. It's a great way to get some top tier warriors for our army and assassin's should definitely be something we look for in a Court of Night.

I'm not sure how much we should continue to deal with the Orphne Court. Last time we paid them a visit, there was an unhealthy interest in the Shadow Tower, and we definitely picked up on some behind the scenes tensions that I don't care to be involved with. Some of us are still salty about the loss of all the magic bones, too, for what turned out to be of little relative worth, IMO.

@Raichu1972, it's a series of reasons, but most of them are connected.

1. I see the entire plane as our future kingdom, and I've always felt obligated to protect what's ours. That's why I get so hostile against anything that even remotely threatens the party or our kingdom. In this instance the world at large is the direct beneficiary of unadulterated greed. ;)
2. I just like a lot of the people in the world and I don't want them to die because we failed to stop an apocalypse. This one could be seen as altruism, but it's really more possessiveness than anything else. For example, I'd be furious if anything happened to Rock Shaker or the other Xorn because I happen to like them, but I'd have a far less angry reaction if for example someone were to attack the Orphne Court or something.
3. I absolutely despise the idea of being forced to retreat from our home plane. Don't get me wrong, I'd do it if necessary, but I'd be seething for weeks and plotting vengeance every step of the way.
4. And this one's more pragmatic than anything else, and it doesn't have to do with obligations or anything, but apocalypses on our home plane are a direct threat to us and everyone we care about. The upcoming Long Night is an existential threat. It's in our best interest to fight that as long and hard as we can just to make sure we survive.
Ah, I suppose that does make sense.

I never had you pegged as CN, but it does make sense with what you have been pushing for.
I had been wondering why a person would want to protect people he didn't care at all about if not for either good pr or a sense of altruism.
Thanks for clearing that up for me! :)

Well it is a Shadow Tower and a arrangement could be made. My main concern is on a personal level we are very powerful but as for the army we command as a King not very overwhelming and I like to stack the deck. Again Minotaurs are awesome but limited supply and breeding rate for what we want.
Some Orcs and Gnolls to Dragon Action Diplomacy would be great right about now. That and some Martial Adapts from the Molten Skies. Though with the Yss quest we might get snake people gorliia fighters.

Yeah, I'll admit I'm pretty worried about going to them again. I don't know how Renly's negotiations with them will end up. They might try to back us into a corner and spike the price for whatever aid Renly would need. And there's also the thing with them controlling the head of the Silver Eye. If we're unlucky and they get too ambitious we could be staring right at a coup in the making.

We could bargain for the tokens of lots of lesser fey. Moonsong, for example, started as nothing but a simple sprite with a few bard spells. Look at her now. She's the captain of her own ship, she's got an item of size change so now she's medium instead of tiny, she lives and breathes pure adventure, and she's a freaking CL 8 Bard.

We could get dozens like Moonsong who hope to follow in her footsteps.

But ultimately, I'm with @Goldfish on one thing. They're not touching our Shadow Tower.

Works for me, short enough to not sound like a monologue, but still flowery enough to sound like it came out of Visery's mouth :V

Now that you mention it @Duesal , why do you care about saving the world?
It's obviously not for moral reasons, and we could really just planeshift and let it all die if we wanted to, so what drives you to want to save, well, anyone?

Is it making our companions happy? Is it because you feel you have to, because this is the setting? Is it because we haven't looted everything yet?
I'm honestly curious.
The plane is full of stuff we want to loot, losing It would be like a dragon watching someone destroy gold. Sure, It could do so if necessary, but It would not enjoy It and It goes against its very nature.

I'm starting to think it might not be a bad idea to get more human warriors.
I feel as though we will already have a lot of PR issues from worshiping barbaric Gods and having beastmen and grumpkins live in our Kingdom, but having the majority of our army, or at least the majority of its heavy hitters, be nonhumans is likely a really bad idea.

I personally love the Minotaurs and the fae and the, hopefully, Children of the Forest, and the selkie and all of them, but they will likely not endear us to any Westerosi lord.

I still find it weird that we invited that Shadow Trader to us and she never showed up
@DragonParadox
What was up with that? Was she offended that we asked her to keep silent about the invitation until our trading was done?

I was suspicious that we wanted to stir shit with the Orphne Court on her behalf or something. I was pretty relieved she never showed up, to be honest. Everything about her screamed "shouldn't trust me".

EDIT: If she couldn't stomach us asking her to shut up and wait until we finished our business for a few hours at most, I'm going to go out on a limb and say she would have been a terrible subordinate.

I like how you think a kingdom of monsters is something I look forward too I want this badly we do have a lot of elites but not nearly enough for our future kingdom I would say.

My idea was to outfet our human soldiers with a mixture of Diamond Mind, Stone Dragon, and Iron Heart. Along with this Beware the Oncoming Storm [Discipline] and for Path of War Iron Tortoise – d20PFSRD. As for were to get these Molten Skies as a trading hub should have some instructors we could convince to teach thier Art of the Blade. Any kind of unit type we want in our Legion there is most likely some kind of Martial Discipline official or homebrew we can fiddle with and give to our soldiers for a boost.

Also @Wheel of time, I'm not sure if you were aware, but the low population for Minotaurs won't be a problem for long.

DP has long ago ruled that Limited Wish can make a single person fertile, and Wish can make an entire line fertile. Next level Viserys gets access to a version of Limited Wish that causes temporary Charisma damage instead of costing XP.

He could bless every single Minotaur with fertility over the span of a few months (upon their consent, of course).

I only bother speechcrafting if people are inclined to vote for it.
It was good, and it was pretty much what I wanted to write, but then I came to the realization that the more we give the Child of the Forest room to talk the more lore DP can sneak into the update and the more questions we can cross off the List.

Also, holy shit, we're talking to a Child of the Forest. It has taken hundreds of thousands of words through the story, but we're finally advancing on the Long Night plotline! :D

Hmm.

I know what you're trying to do, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of our army is going to be npc classes, no matter what we do.
We will definitely be able to boost up the elites, those who proved themselves to be a cut above and gained a PC class, but the best way to improve our army as of now is through getting them better (and magical) equipment, and by getting more commanders with magic that can influence an entire army's worth of people.

It would also help if we had an actual official army, instead of just a bunch of raiders and pirates :V

Yet more proof that the Seven wants to fuck everything over, as they abhor magic which is a natural aspect of the world.

They're the LG gods of Self-Righteousness. Not even Bahamut is that much of an ass.
I'm not sure how much the Seven abhor magic, personally I suspect that before the silence, it used to just be a warning to be wary of magic not from them, and then during the silence where there was little magic, and the gods had only minimal ability to contact their followers, the warning was twisted until it became an ultimatum.

Or it was about specific types of magic such as blood magic, and then the silence saw it twisted to include all magic.

We've got a major festival coming up soon. That will be a prime opportunity for a speech.

Oh! Viserys' mother will definitely need a speech after she's Resurrected. That'll be a hard one to write. Save your strength for it. :)

Still got to raise them and as a Sorcerer Overlord a proper army of unstoppable Doom is just part of the job but good start. I do mean it for looking for Orcs, Gnolls, Hobgoblins and any other natural warrior race we can civilize to our side. But that is good news. I'm the kinds guy that desires only fire and blood for my enemies and wholesale absolute slaughter. Crushing victory is my goal and the Minotaurs are only the beginning of that. Though it's a bit bark and no bite when I can't think of what else to do other then shouting Martial Disciplines, Tome of Battle and Path of War sky high to the ceiling ad nauseum:V

I still am:)

It's not about whether or not that I can win the vote for it. I can. I'm great at that.

It's about not needlessly creating a divisive argument over something that could fall short of its intended effect. Speeches are risky in all cases except the ones where people are relying on you to convince them of something.

This is basically just entertainment. Maybe they'd find it entertaining. Maybe they would not.

I like to live dangerously.

The issue is mainly that humans take forever to train. It's actually taken more training for us to get our legions started than it did for Richard to beat the Minotaurs into something resembling shape. It's often easier for us to grab a few high CR monsters because they can be used and deployed immediately. The Gorgon bull thing that we captured could probably destroy an army of arbitrary size. Without squads of borderline PCs, the Gorgon could probably kill thousands.

I agree that it's better for us to rely more on human forces, but they're paradoxically harder to get a hold of. Monsters are easier and, typically, more powerful. Realistically, this is a problem with D&D as a whole. Monsters are basically instantly lethal once tamed (and there are a lot of monsters out there to tame)and are often profoundly good a killing while the average, low-level NPC, takes years in order to get to a state that's only marginally effective. If we couldn't Fabricate full plate and razor-sharp, masterwork weapons so cheaply, it would outright be easier for us to just use a force of Constructs. I'd like to see the Others deal with Dragonglass Constructs.

Our issue is needing to remind ourselves that, no, magic does not solve everything.

Realistically, though, how quickly do they go from calves (is it racist to call Minotaur kids calves?) to full-bodied adults? Until the younglings mature, the size of the breeding population is going to be limited. In real life, Cows are fully grown at 2 years while humans wouldn't be considered fit for military service until at least 16. Where do Minotaurs sit on that spectrum? We really don't have time to wait for a new generation of Minotaurs to be born.

That reminds me, @Duesal (for your memory), @DragonParadox (for confirmation).

We did not have to sell Mother's crown, right? I think we'd remember losing that, since it was what broke canon Viserys. Do we have it with us?

Hmmm... A thought occurs.

So the Old Gods have a Magic Domain since they're intimately connected with the Song, and in the early days apparently animals would spontaneously Awaken and then regress and the like, and Giants rose huge towers and Singers sung the God's Eye into being.

Well, with magic awakening, a lot of that stuff is coming back. What if for our next big sacrifice we gave the Little Valyrians a permanent, inherited Tongue's effect? Or at the very least a lesser effect to allow them to speak one human language? But I prefer Tongues in all honesty.

Oh I know this but the thing about Martial Disciplines and Ki in general is all it takes is training. I am not hoping for a army of Martial Adapts but instead we get the Martial Adapt version of a npc class which is still a cut above the rest.
Very limited use of the Disciplines is still some pretty good with the proper Manuevers selected. Now Monks though that Is a Elite force to get and thanks to Goldfish the thread is aware of Mind Flayer hating ones.

Though I hate or at least strongly disagree with the Class name Monk because while some Fantasy martial artists are in some kind of Shaolin or similar traditions monk order, a vast majority of martial artists are not in any shape or form monk like at a all. Just a pet peeve of mine.

Not sure, but I do remember something about them growing much faster than human children. And something about the minotaur pregnancies being both shorter and easier than human pregnancies.

@Crake, we have the crown. We took it from the vaults of the Iron Bank before we set off to conquer the Stepstones and slay Damphair.

... That's the crown of the Queen Consort, right? Wouldn't that mean that Lya's eventually inheriting it? Do we make another crown for Rhaella as Queen Mother?
