Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Er, huh. Right. They're still going around giving out potentially mutating powers, right? Otherwise there'd be a lot of missing parahumans. If they're still doing that, and still willing to consign people to the effects of a faulty vial, then there's still a chance that they will see us as just a necessary sacrifice to build them an army.

They aren't, actually. Since they have no means of doing so, and since the only thing left of the conspiracy is the Triumverate all they can really do is work out in the open to try and find a way to defeat the Endbringers, and they haven't had much luck in that aspect.

And the latest triggers weren't a result of Cauldron vials. They were more due to the fact that Scion's shards that he kept to himself were spread out along Earth Bet, so now characters like Breakdown and the girl that helped us in the BB Simurgh fight exist.

So we don't really have to worry about them reverting to their old ways with the potential we present, because Alexandria seems to be repenting, Legend never condoned them to begin with, and Eidolon has become impotent.

I will admit to still not understanding why some are so set on so heavily changing Dragon into a Unison Device. =/

Well, from what Tim said, it's more taking a copy of Dragon, and making that a Unison Device. As for why... well, Dragon is a great person to be around and a very powerful AI.

1) We found Perfect Storm in a perfect storm of coincidences - it was a damaged Device with parts of its database lost or corrupted, that bonded to us. Practically everything we've shown since was something we pulled from it - not help from others.
2) We contacted, and kept in contact with Dragon regarding the Device, because we wanted to investigate its origins.
---We sidestep the fact we and Dragon know about TSAB for now. Let Dragon handle the full disclosure of her findings.
3) With Dragon's help we managed to launch a salvage operation on the transport you believe belonged to Perfect Storm's previous holders, but it was interrupted by the Dragonslayers.
4) Suspicious of their timing, you made a lure of the salvage by claiming it was kept at the Warehouse. The Dragonslayers arrived and were defeated.
---The communication device is technically also a salvage, just taken earlier... So no lies here.

5) We also give Dragon the heads up that Alexandria gave us a visit, so Dragon might need to answer a few questions.
Only thing I'd add to that would be to put emphasis on the fact that we found perfect storm among wreckage...
This is Cauldron. Can we trust them not to attempt to use us as a templated mage factory, perpetually powering perfect storm to produce phony parahumans? You know, like their current modus operandi with actual parahumans? Perfect Storm would never allow that, but that doesn't stop Cauldron from trying, and being a huge pain in the ass while doing so.
Tim would be infinitely more suited to this, and frankly... yes, we want that. Plan pokemon, remember?

Let's see. First of all, I welcome the newest meeting with Cassiel... Though, WTF humanity? A little more real on that end?
Although, if we're going Simmie route, "a little more real" might be a literal truth, because "entirely real" might be quite a bit more than "a little more real" after all.

Now for the big questions.

Right. First of all, @ChaoticSky I really don't see how you made that conclusion. Alexandria is not asking for confirmation of her knowledge, she is fishing for information. Contrary to you, I truly believe this is enough for Taylor to conclude that Dragon didn't give full disclosure to Alexandria.

Knowing Dragon's motivations, I'm rather unwilling to put her in hot water of "We told Dragon everything - ask her!".

Second. Alexandria was the one to extend the helping hand here, as such I am against attempting to hoodwink her. More importantly, Alexandria is also a Thinker, and Taylor is enough of Alexandria fan to possibly know that tidbit.

@Always Late , @LancerisDead , and others: Please give critique to the proposed reply structure:

The reply is not complete - we still need to address the calls we made to TSAB, the information on their origins we can share with Alexandria, the information on Endbringers we have shared with TSAB, and Dragon's involvement with some of these. Also, I'd like to be able to tell Alexandria that TSAB doesn't mind us keeping and using Perfect Storm, because she'd be concerned otherwise.

Overall, as I said, I'd like to give Alexandria most of information because we're out of our depth dealing with the official representatives of a large polity that TSAB is. I'd also like to make sure Dragon isn't in trouble for not telling Protectorate things.

Well, I don't know what to add. You pretty much covered all the points.

I will say that we shouldn't by under any reason mention Linker Cores. It's okay that we tell Alex about magic, but let the mage keep some secrets, right?

I'm not suggesting we try to lie to her, thats quite the opposite of my intent... and the whole reason i piped up infact. The options we are presented with are; cover ass, tell the minimum possible, tell everything. But she basically walks right up to taylor and goes 'im surprised you didnt get the people who made your staff to fix him'.

From this its a very simple and logical chain of conclusions;
-Alexi knows about the TSAB (the people who made Taylor's staff)
-The only way she could have found out 'taylor's staff was made by the TSAB' is from Dragon.
-Dragon must have told Alexi about whats going on... after all, shes a big name hero so it makes alot of sense to bring someone like her in on this.
-Taylor may or may not be happy abit this, but that is somethign to bring up with Dragon.

This means there is a very substantial chance that Taylor could misunderstand and give incomplete information not through any attempt to hide or lie, but due to misunderstanding Alexi. A very hilarious misunderstanding when all the characters involved look back on it later, as well as potential for drama and plots, which is a good thing.

On a more Meta level, your right that trying to lie to the flying brick coldreader is a bad idea... but the alternative means involving Cauldron, which is never a point in a fics favour and anything that retards their influence on this story in the long term is the best possible option.

Except if you talk magic, you kind of are required to at least mention Linker Cores too you know.

Not really? We can and should mention that only a certain amount of people can cast magic.

What we should not mention is the nature of that capacity. Remember, Linker Cores are spiritual organs that manifest as specialized nerves on the spinal column.

There's no reason to go into specifics, is what I mean.

What if we went with, I dunno, asking Alexandria what she thinks she knows? Given the things that she said, it should be clear to Taylor that Alexandria doesn't know as much as she thinks she knows (i.e. nature of the TSAB, Sam's origin, etc).

Basically, I envision something like this:

Taylor: "Okay, what you just said is so full of inaccurate assumptions I don't know how to respond to it. Can you please explain everything that you think you know abut me before I say anything? Otherwise, neither of us will be able to understand anything the other says."
Alexandria: "I asked you for information."
Taylor: "And if we start where you're at right now, it'll be like trying to explain nuclear decay to somebody who thinks atoms behave like plum pudding!"
*electric stare*

And the obvious follow-up(s) would be to ask how and/or why, wouldn't it?

"Linker Cores are a thing, but I don't have any idea what type of thing they are".

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but Rebecca seems the type to try and artificially create a mage army.
Lemme put it this way: there's a reason artificial mage projects involve creating them in utero, and there's a reason template-created mages take so long to get to S-rank.

We know that's a terrible idea.

"Linker Cores are a thing, but I don't have any idea what type of thing they are".
Likely would be caught out as the lie it is.

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but Rebecca seems the type to try and artificially create a mage army.
You're being overly paranoid. Cauldron's base and facilities, as well as the org itself, are gone. Just how, exactly, would Rebecca supposedly make this hypothetical mage army?

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but Rebecca seems the type to try and artificially create a mage army.
Riiiiiiiiight. Rebecca would turn down the two already existing mage-army creation methods in favor of a field only two other groups have the slightest inkling about, and in a way that nobody on Bet even knows how to pull off. Suuuuure.

Cauldron is dead and gone, sure, but you don't need a shady organization to make a stupendously bad plan.

You guys seem to be forgetting that:

A- Rebecca's first thought when "realizing" about Perfect Storm's creators was the potential of making an army of Triumvirate level capes.

B- The PRT currently has Bonesaw and Panacea both. And they are fully aware of Amy's full capabilities.

Vote 8.6

All right, people. Pick your choice, and like I said before, feel free to give me a subvote or two on what you want to emphasize. Word choice in intentional. I don't want or need a half-page of topics on all the things you want to tell Alexandria about, just the couple of points you really want to hammer home.

[ ] Only mention that you found Perfect Storm and keep silent about magic entirely.
[ ] Explain what you know about magic but a bare minimum about space wizards.
[ ] Bare your soul about everything, including the TSAB and their retrieval team.

Vote will close probably Tuesday, maybe Wednesday. I need to be able to write the chapter by Saturday.

Given our collective reaction to Ragnarok (effectively making us a walking tacnuke dispenser) was "Ooooo, shiny!" I don't think this is nearly as damning as you think.

I didn't say it was damning, but that Alexandria and co. are that much more likely to attempt this since they have the means to do so.

[X] Bare your soul about everything, including the TSAB and their retrieval team.
-[X] What.
-[X] Mention that you've been getting help from Dragon in establishing and contacting the TSAB.
-[X] Magic is real and certain people have the capacity of using it, though you don't know what determines that ability.
-[X] You found Perfect Storm in a storm of coincidences, he was probably built by the TSAB.
